Well, couldn't wait to come and give this place a try. I'm always in search of really great coffee and it seems like I may have found something! I ordered a simple americano, and was pleased to find they had hemp milk as an alternative. I ordered a medium, not sure about their sizes but a medium is a little smaller than what I thought, looks more like a small. I was taken a bit by the price at almost $7.00 for my americano, seems like latté prices to me, but after taking that first sip, I realized we'd have a problem here, their coffee is REALLY GOOD! Not sure I'd make it a daily habit, maybe every (other) day... Employees are all fantastic, friendly and welcoming, oh and the moody vibe here is pretty unique. Many places to sit, relax and hang out, meet some friends. I'd say it's a winner! One more thing, they have Swiss water process decaf...if that's important to you like it is me, you should really give this place a try. read more

My wife and I stumbled upon this coffee shop while enjoying a Sunday in San Clemente. We had a delightful mocha --- large, rich, smooth. Very nice. It's a large stylish space with indoor and outdoor seating and very chilled in ambiance. The seating was comfortable and the cafe's position on a key part of Avenida del Mar makes it a great people watching spot. The staff were friendly and helpful. A really nice spot! read more

Worst Matcha I've ever had in my entire life, don't go here... Paid 9 dollars for matcha that was probably the lowest quality matcha I've ever tasted. If you like matcha I would not go here unfortunately. I had one sip and had to throw it away. read more

We were warned by our neighbor that this place wasn't great, but decided to give it a shot anyway. Big mistake! The customer service was subpar--when we placed our order, the barista questioned our choices like we'd never ordered coffee before. It was awkward and unnecessary. As for the coffee... NASTY. Overpriced and terrible tasting. Easily some of the worst we've had in town. We also tried a blueberry muffin, which was HORRIBLE --the bottom completely fell off when we picked it up, and all the blueberries had sunk to the bottom like it had been baked wrong. Came here with family on the 4th of July looking to enjoy some coffee and pastries and left wondering how this place has any regulars. First red flag: the vibe. The staff barely looked up when we walked in, let alone offered a friendly "hello." We ordered small lattes that somehow cost almost $9 each (did they milk the beans by hand?). Oh, and if you're hoping for almond or other nut-based milks, think again. They only offer soy and oat milk because they're a "nut-free establishment." Okay, fine... until it gets truly nutty. We sat down with our drinks and opened our pastries (that we brought from another shop), enjoying a quiet moment and a laugh with family. A staff member marched over and told us we had to either put away our dessert or leave because my danish had sliced almonds on it. Seriously? We weren't smearing almond butter on the furniture, just sitting at a table, drinking coffee. My brother muttered, "That's a nutty rule," and the staffer grumbled something rude under her breath as she walked away. That was the cherry on top of the passive-aggressive sundae. We have gone here as regular customers since they opened. We have always loved their coffee. We get either cappuccino's or lattes. We are very disappointed they now only serve their coffee in paper cups. They have lost are business. We won't go back unless they bring back the porcelain cups. Pretty sad for such a beautiful classy coffee place. read more

My cappuccino was absolutely delicious! And so was my chive bacon scone-they had some fresh flowers that I just loved too-as a flower designer and flower lover I approve. The chairs and tables are charming, vibe is great. However I it was slow when I came in and I asked for napkins and instead of getting them they pointed across the counter where I honestly couldn't see exactly where to get. When asking for tips, (which I left) I think delivering napkins with scones should be included in the service, I hope you take this under consideration as staff; good service is appreciated and remembered. So glad I didn't check Yelp reviews beforehand! I stayed at San Clemente Inn for a week, and they offered a trolley service. While riding it, I spotted Kuli Coffee and decided to hop off and give it a try. The place looks like it used to be a bar--there's a bar counter design inside, which I thought was really cool. I ordered an iced cortado with oat milk--OMG, it was so delicious with a bold, strong coffee flavor. Don't get me wrong--I also like Sur, Hightide, and Bear Coffee, but only when I'm in the mood for something sweeter. If you're a true coffee lover, Kuli is it. So bold and rich! I told my friend she had to try Kuli Coffee, but she said she didn't go before because of the low reviews. I told her, "No way--just try it!" So we went together, and she was so impressed with her iced vanilla latte. She loved that it still had a strong coffee taste--exactly what a coffee drink should be! Her mom even told me, "You need to write a Yelp review." So here I am. Five stars! I'm already back home in Corona, and I even asked my friend to grab a bag of their coffee beans for me to bring home. That's how much I loved it! I was really looking forward to coming here, but my experience wasn't great. I ordered a latte with honey, and while they got the order right, it was delivered pretty poorly. The barista literally dumped the steamed milk directly onto the espresso, which was really unprofessional. Her technique seemed way off, especially considering the high prices. Plus, her attitude was dismissive and made me feel uncomfortable during the interaction. I loved the vibe here and all the available seating but just not worth it to me. --also wifi does not work very well as someone who wfh this is a deal breaker :( read more

I love the aesthetics of the place. The barrista was informed and patient (I asked a million questions about cold brews and what espresso drinks would match my preferences), and I finally got an iced chai with a shot of espresso that was super good. Pretty bummed about this experience. We live down the street and love walking to all the local coffee shops. it will be a while before we try this one again. First, the cashier was going to charge us an Extra couple of dollars to do tw half-caf lattes "because they have to pour extra shots".... Check with all the other shops around, nobody does this. Also, two half caff lattes are the same amount of shots poured as one decaf and one full caf. Second, the food was expensive and horrible. 99% sure they just massively upcharged Costco croissants. The coffee was decent, but it's hard to justify coming back when other places in town also have decent coffee but are so much friendlier, and have better food. read more

Smiled and greeted the cashier but within a moment or two I dropped my enthusiasm and attempt at conversing as it didn't seem at all welcomed. This place was awesome. The staff was super friendly and seemed like they took pride in their new spot. The ambiance in this place is incredible with a wrap around bar top, big open feel, comfy furniture and they have giant fold away doors that open the inside to the downtown area. I got a black iced Americano and it was definetaly top 5 iced Americanos I've ever had. You can tell they took pride and really dialed in their roast. read more

Wife and I had wonderful decaf lattes hanging in the easy chairs and watching people and cars go by on Del Mar. We also had an oatmeal bread treat that went very well with the coffee as it was not too sweet. Service was great and we definitely will return. read more

Merch: plenty of it, some good, some meh. Either I missed it but I didn't see any coffee for purchase. Coffee: standard Capp, coffee a little on the bitter side but not bad, I do prefer others in town. Definitely a thumbs down for plastic straws instead of wooden stir sticks. In a setup like this, how about a container for clean spoons, one for dirty? Didn't stay this time so will return to re-evaluate. Coffee is mid, baristas aren't friendly and welcoming, and the biggest culprit, the owner isn't Hawaiian. Talk about culture appropriation. Just go to Sur coffee or Rapport. Everything else is not it. I will say layout is nice, but confusing when you walk in. A "hi, how are you doing, order here" from staff would only take them 1-2 seconds to say. I haven't encountered an attitude like this since Palo Alto in the early 2000s. If you want to drink coffee leisurely alone (that is, take more than an hour), be aware that they don't want you here. They say it right up front on their website, and they make it clear in many ways, especially if you want to use WiFi. (And by that I don't mean loudly conducting business while using a seat at the coffee bar as your personal office.) They don't post the password, which is fine--but they also resist when you ask what it is. They tell you it is on the receipt, but they don't routinely give you a receipt. You have to specifically ask for one, and then they'll print it in unreadable 4-point font in legalese at the bottom. All this is okay, I guess, for a coffee house if it only wants groups of people who order drip coffee at $4.00 for twelve-ounces and another $2 for a refill, and then leave. But all they offer to eat here is a limited selection of scones and muffins. Right now it's summer, on the main business street in downtown San Clemente, and it's a great location, so there's a decent crowd. But good luck with this approach in winter. read more
