We've been using Kula's Maids since we moved into our house a little over 6 months ago. They are wonderful! Anyone who knows me will tell you how OCD I am about a clean house. Kula's Maids always does a fantastic job cleaning my house! It's definitely a first for me with regard to a cleaning service. read more

Unfortunately the quality of Kulas has deteriorated. They have left many items not cleaned and this last time, didn't even mop the floor. The company's only response is to send the same crew back out "so they can learn", just not worth the cost. read more

Best cleaning service we have ever had. They are professional, prompt, reliable, clean, detailed, accommodating, and friendly. Each four-person crew did a terrific job, and they clean our Georgian house within 1-1/2 hours, as opposed to having a single person clean all day. Their modern equipment is cleaned every day and is quiet, and they use only natural cleaning solvents. The office staff is always there for any requests or to take care of any issues. We have been using Kulas for over a year, and we wouldn't use anybody else. read more

This service sucks. They clean well, they mop, disinfect, and dust, all of that, but they feel a need to touch everything! I threw out my ADHD pills! I left a note on my desk not to touch anything, but I made the mistake of leaving my computer open. They looked through my files, because when I got home, a different window was open. Also, one of my (digital) folders was deleted! I was able to restore it. They also took my basketball shoes that I put away in my closet, and felt a need to throw it in the cabinet where I keep tide pods. Who in their right mind keeps shoes in their laundry supplies cabinet!!! They also decided to break my shower door. read more

Tried this service because our neighbor uses them regularly, so I've also included their opinions. Based on our 2 visits, I find them timely, reliable, reasonably priced, thorough. Expect a different crew of 4 every visit. Naturally, sometimes your house will be spotless and sanitized, other times just pretty clean. Phone help is prompt and professional. I am only giving 3 stars because I have not used many services, so not much to compare to. read more

The ladies were nice and well groomed. After a while they started leaving early without completing all the work on our small house. We were out taking a walk a few weeks ago and discovered they left early. We just finished cleaning our house on a Saturday morning and discovered how much they were leaving undone. They were also using cheap products that left our furniture looking dried out. We use lemon oil on our oak and teak furniture, as recommended when we purchased it. Perhaps they've been overbooked by the management. I don't know. It was expensive and we are just going to do it ourselves for a period of time. read more

After being referred by our neighbor, we tried Kulas because we needed our house cleaned before being put on the market. We originally scheduled for Tuesday but ended up needing more time for a painter to finish work so we moved it to Thursday. We were told that we would receive a call the day before to verify the time they'd clean, and that we would be given the chance to okay it. We then got a call from someone who clearly doesn't understand the words "customer" and "service" and what that means when those words are put together. The time they had given us was too early as the painter was going to be finishing up in the morning. The person on the phone, who clearly needs a lesson in manners and how to speak to a human being, proceeded to exclaim that we have no choice in the time they show, and we must have "heard them wrong" and that they don't let people verify the time their maids appear. Not only was this in direct conflict to what we were told earlier, but if that were the case, I guess they just expect you to clear out eight hours from your schedule until they make up their minds about when they want to come the day before. The person was then exceedingly rude and kept interrupting when we tried to calmly explain what the issue with the time was. Finally, we gave up and politely asked to speak to another person in their office. The next person came on the phone, livid, that we weren't listening to the previous associate (who, again, was interrupting us and not listening), and told us that we'd be charged a cancellation fee and they were now canceling on us. So, after being yelled at, belittled, and being told they were going to cancel us, we now have to work with Visa to reverse a cancellation charge they imposed on us. After looking at other Yelp reviews, it's clear that we're not the only people having issues with the "customer service" in their offices. I would just steer clear and avoid this company like the plague. read more

I have been using this service for 3 years and have had a great experience. It is hard to find good cleaning help, but after using the same cleaning lady for 7 years, then switching to Kulas, I really noticed a huge difference. My house is spotless after they leave. The same crew comes each time & they work very hard. The always show up on time or a few minutes early. The only negatives are they don't guarantee the same time each week and will call you the day before to confirm the exact time. But since they are only here for a short time because they send a crew of 4, it's not that big of a deal. Also, the person who does the scheduling always sounds like she is in a big hurry so you have to talk quickly if you want any questions answered. Otherwise, they are great, they get the job done and I plan to use this service for many years to come. I highly recommend Kulas Maids. read more

I used to use Kulas Maids weekly, back when I rented a house from Jack Kulas. He was an amazing landlord and his cleaning service is amazing! We bought a house and have been trying to do the cleaning ourselves, but it's finally caught up with us. We have many pets (rescue) and right now too many dogs to mention and a few cats. I also review books so there are piles of books everywhere on top of and covered in the fur. So while it's a small house, it's intensive. They came today and they conquered! They moved books, took the dog beds (lots of them) outside and vacuumed each one, shook out the rugs, vacuumed them, moved crates and cleaned under them. Dusted the books. I just walked around the place smiling as they were cleaning. They were careful of the pets and kept doors closed. They worked around dogs all over. I couldn't be happier. So while I can't afford weekly cleaning (the dog and cat meds run me more monthly than a Mercedes lease would be), they will be coming on a regular basis to do the deep cleaning - maybe each season? THANK YOU to Jack (and Mark). Miss you guys!! read more

We hired Kulas Maids to clean our condo for selling. We needed a lot of deep cleaning and they did an excellent job. For example, we needed tile and grout cleaned in showers and it looks very good. A supervisor stopped by to make sure everything we needed was being done. We would certainly hire them again and recommend them. read more

Want a cleaning service that will do a good job of cleaning your pad without cleaning out your cash? Kulas is for you. I hired Kulas to substitute for my regular cleaning lady who was out of town. I received a call the day before their visit, telling me to expect them at a time within the window I requested. Kulas Maids showed up promptly with a crew of 4and proceeded to clean my house in 1-1/2 hours. The price($150) was less than half of what I paid three years ago to another service when my cleaning lady took off a month for maternity. Kulas is the next best thing to having a cleaning lady of your own, and I will use them in the future when my regular cleaner is not available. read more

my sister uses Kulas to clean her house and suggested I do the same after I had moved out of my small 2 bedroom condo so they could clean it for the people moving in after me. wow, was I really impressed with the job they did. one area I was never able to get clean was my stove. it's one of those electric cooktops where the grease gets cooked onto the edges of the burners really easily. they were able to get it out with ease and cleaned the rest of the oven without issue. they also swept my outdoor deck and hand washed the floors. the place looks spotless now. they had a crew of 4 for my tiny 850 sqft place and finished just over an hour. they missed a couple spots, but were quick to remedy that. They also have a 24 hour guarantee so if they missed something they'll come back for free. overall I was very impressed and would definitely use them again. read more

I have been using Kulas Maids for 2 years. I need to say that they have been a lifesaver for me. I have a full time job and run a small business out of my home. The ladies are always on time, friendly and do a great job. I love the fact that there are four of them so the job is done quickly, and that they bring all of their own equipment and supplies so I don't have to worry that the vacuum is clogged or I ran out of supplies. I am so happy with them. I would definitely recommend them! read more

I had been a customer of Kulas Maids for 15+ years. For many years, service was great. However, many times there were always some things not right. I overlooked it for years while watching the prices increase and increase and increase. After a recent visit with sloppiness around, I said enough. Other services are more affordable and do a better job. read more

In only one hour, the group of four was able to clean my very large 2 bedroom, 2 1/2 bathroom apartment thoroughly. I was very pleased by how clean they got everything and I really appreciated it when Maria dusted the lightbulbs in my bathroom. After reading reviews for Kulas Maids, as well as years of researching for a quality cleaning service. I know how hard it is to find a good service. When it comes to housekeeping and landscaping it can be HELL. Almost a joke sometimes. After realizing the company I had for MANY years was doing a substandard job and I was doing nothing about it, except continuing to pay them, I decided to speak to the owner of this group. I specified exactly what needed improvement. He looked at me and said, "that would be 3 times the price." I realize it is somewhat odd, but I actually felt hurt. And I felt done with him. I researched and found Kulas Maids. They were polite and approachable on the phone-and trust me, I know when the person on the phone is being a jerk, or worse. They were flexible with how often you can get a cleaning and they give a window of time they will be coming, and the day BEFORE they call to give you the SPECIFIC time. No sitting around waiting like you would for Comcast. I have them come every 4 weeks. It is usually the same group-it has always been the same "main" lady. She (and the girls) are very kind, sweet, and professional. They are lovely to my 3 year old (who seems to always be asking when they are coming back.) Now, we all have our "quirks" and "expectations" when it comes to our house being cleaned. Everyone is different when it comes to what they "believe" is clean and what a good job looks like. I am one of those VERY sensitive, "OCD" people and like it to be what *I* see as perfect. Nothing and no one is perfect. However, you are PAYING your hard earned money for the house to be cleaned. I believe this whole scenario is sort of like a relationship and everyone needs to be clear on what is most important for that individual person when it comes to the house and it being "clean." Kulas Maids have been coming to clean my house for many months now. There were a few issues that I noticed (it wouldn't matter if Mr. Clean was doing the cleaning, I would have found specifics that I wanted improvement on.) So, I wrote a brief list of "Items to be Remembered While Cleaning." This way I can make sure there is no confusion on what I want to make SURE is done and done WELL. And yes, like many companies out there, the ladies first language is not English. Does this make it easy to communicate about everything in detail? No. However, it is now 2016 and there is this wonderful invention called Google Translate. After typing up my short list, I was able translate it into Ukrainian in about 5 seconds. During my cleanings I will always have this handy to show/remind our lady so we can all be on the same page. Also, I can always edit/add to this list at any time. I have also sent the list to the Kulas Office. Their staff was BEYOND appreciative and professional. This is just my "two cents" for all my fellow people out there that have struggled with finding a cleaning company that provides quality and professional results. Maybe I have high expectations in life but when I am paying someone for ANY service I do believe the outcome should be excellent **AND** that I should be treated in a specific way-as a valued and highly respected customer. read more

Kulas Maids cleans both my office and my home on a regular basis and have for several years. They are always on time, are very friendly and do a great job. My office has a lot of knick knacks which could make cleaning shelves a hassle but they do a fabulous job and everything is put back in place when they are finished. I would definitely recommend this company. read more

I love Kulas maids. The ladies are all so hard-working. When I call to schedule a visit the scheduler is helpful at accommodating and helpful. I wish I could have them every week ...I will be calling later today to have them come in two weeks for a refresher for my house. SSR read more

I use Kula's regularly for our housekeeping. The teams that come to our house are professional and do a lovely job. I'm very pleased with the service they provide. The way I find it works best is for me to clear spaces on the bathroom counters and all level surfaces and then put everything back out following. This way the surfaces are super clean and nothing is ever broken. read more

I've been using Kulas maids for about 5 years now and I am really happy with their customer service. I'm anal when it comes to details and I have three dogs that shed. They're really good about getting into the crevices in my couch where the fur gets stuck throughout the week. I used to get service every 2 weeks, but I love coming home after they run through so much that I booked them every week now. They are flexible with time frames too, when I have visitors come from out of town, I don't want the crew running around the house so I move them to a different day and I never have a problem. They book the day that I want and then I go back to my regular schedule. My neighbor will be moving to this service because the service she uses gives her issues with rescheduling. I can't imagine going back to my life without these maids, it's so nice to have them. read more

First time I used them I was very happy with what they did. They far out cleaned my last cleaning service. The people were nicer, (they were cleaner in terms of hygiene too) and they did a better job. They did it for less money than they said they would. I see the other reviews and have to wonder. Maybe I just got lucky. Maybe it won't last. But based on my first experience, I am happy to switch to these folks. Oddly enough I tried to write a review of the cleaning company I just fired and can't find them on YELP. If I did the kind of work they did, I wouldn't want to be on yelp either. But that is in the past. I have Kulas now. And they do have a Klue. read more

The problem with Kulas is consistency. Sometimes a team cleans well, sometimes OK, sometimes terrible - they miss spots, etc.. Considering the prices have gone up since I have started using them several years ago, I may try another service to see if they are better. They do always seem to be in a race to get out and sometimes do not even stay the full amount of time. read more

The service provided by Kulas Maids has been excellent. I have tried other services on and off over the years and I can say this is the first one that I can truly say cleaned to a level closest to how I would clean my own house. In some cases better, like spotlessly scrubbing out the toaster oven EVERY TIME! in particular, I have had team '6' and team 'N' and both are very good. read more

Disappointing. Given the number of people involved in cleaning the attention to detail was lacking- ie: the kitchen faucet and handles were not cleaned. They advertise that they use green cleaning (non-toxic) cleaners and showed up with aerosol spray Pledge, Mr. Clean, etc. basically everything NON-green. I called 24hrs later to tell them I won't use them again given the high cost/ low quality and the woman that schedules could not have been ruder. Non-apologetic, combative, defensive. read more

Im a 26 yr old living with my girlfriend in des plaines. We have a 1 bedroom, 850 square foot place. The crew came on time and everyone of them greeted us and said goodbye as well. Started working right away, stayed the whole hour we booked. These ladies went to town on our place, (which was semi-clean to start with) they went the xtra steps, did the blinds, fans, bathroom is spotless and smells like new. Will use again, cant afford it every other week or even monthly, but was really nice to get a deep clean on our place. Well worth the $, they did the dishes, sinks, floors(we have all hardwood), made the bed, cleaned under and took off and wiped everything on our dressers. Couldnt ask for anything more, will use again! read more

I used the company for a little over two months for once a week house cleaning service (North Shore area). After the first week, I asked for a different team. There were so many places in my house that weren't cleaned properly: the bathroom sinks, the lower cabinets in the kitchen, the shower doors, spider webs, most chairs at the dining table were not dusted, the bar area was completely ignored, corners, under the radiators, most base boards, etc. I called and complained. A manager came to the house and offered to clean the missed spots, but I refused and asked for better services. As the services continued, there were still so many areas that were missed and left uncleaned. I should mention that my house is neat, we take our shoes off all the time and I clean myself every day. It was the first time hiring a cleaning service. I kept growing frustrated with the subpar cleaning service: first, I couldn't justify spending good money every week for "wiping surfaces and making them look good, but no real scrubbing and cleaning". Yes, the house looked good, but when I really looked there were too many areas ignored; second, I should not have to call every time after the service, nor to tell the cleaning team to actually clean. I called customer service to ask for twice a month cleaning and complain about the same spots being missed over and over. The lady was extremely rude, yelled at me, and threatened to hang up. I told her I don't accept and appreciate the way she talks. She did apologized, but the fact that a customer service representative was so rude it appalled me. Last time, before I canceled the services, they did not show up. A little over twenty minutes after the appointment time, I called the company. I couldn't believe nobody called me to at least let me know they were running late. I spoke with a manager and was told they could still come if I waited 10 more minutes. At that point they were already 30 minutes late. I was on my way to a meeting and running late. I was offered 15 min discount- hence they were already 30 minutes late plus at least 10 more needed to get to my house. The offer wasn't fair. I was promised service the next day in case someone else canceled. Of course nobody called the day after to even let me know it's not possible to provide service. I waited few more days and contacted customer service. I was too frustrated and disappointed with the company. The lady who answered the phone lied at first, saying she called me on Friday ,then she recognized she didn't. As the conversation was going, I felt that enough is enough and I won't pay money to be treated like this. When I told the lady, she hung up on me. Rude and unprofessional, to say the least. The company doesn't care about customer satisfaction or to provide high and excellent services. On the positive side, the crew always had a positive attitude, nice and easy going, and it was almost always on time. They did worked during the time frame, but the company's cleaning standards don't come close to mine. Anybody who would want a clean house (if you just want things to look nice, be wiped down, but not really cleaned, corners and surfaces that need the most vacuuming being missed over and over, rude customer service, give them a chance) For actual cleaning and better customer service, I would look somewhere else. Thank you! read more

We have used Kulas in the past and have always been happy. The last time we had them, honestly I didn't even notice they came other than the check was gone. Very little was done and not nearly what we paid for them to do. I noticed they have a 100% satisfaction guarantee on their website when I called to complain. I spoke to them today and said I was not satisfied at all and I guess the 100% guarantee is a 26 dollar credit or for them to come back and clean again but apparently I didn't call fast enough. It wasn't even 72 hours later. The guarantee offered to me was 26 dollars and an additional 140 to get my house cleaned as originally requested. We did end up having to clean it ourselves because we could not wait, so even if they did have them come back at no charge, we couldn't wait for them to reschedule. Hit or miss I guess. read more

We had Kulas over to clean last week. Outside of the check being taken and a chandelier being cleaned nothing else was done. The baseboards were filthy, walls were not spot cleaned etc. I called less than 72 hours later but missed the Saturday office hourse, so on Monday I spoke to somebody and explained the problem. I was told it was too bad I didn't call sooner, they would have sent someone to do it correctly. I said I could not wait anyway, it had to be cleaned so my wife and I did what they did not. As the representative was ending the call (and was going to offer nothing) I said well you have a guarantee on your website, so I would like part of my money back. (I paid $165.00). I was told I had waited too long and the best she could do is offer a $26.00 credit towards future cleanring services. Laughable. So, the job I paid for wasn't done and in order for it to be done propertly I would have to pay an additional $139.00 to use the generous $26.00 credit to have my home cleaned as it was supposed to be the first time. Apparently the 100% guarantee has a time expiration to it. The website says "100% guaranteed" "Our service comes with a full customer-service guarantee" I assumed that meant a refund of some kind but in my case the guarantee was that all I had to do was spend an additional $139.00 to get it done right. No thanks. read more

I've been a happy Kulas customer for more than a decade. Love them, especially my crew, whom I have come to care for. When I do my spring and fall closet cleaning, I usually leave a pile of clothes for them to pick through, and I take whatever is left to Goodwill. Today, one of the ladies came to me with a wad of money that I had left in the pocket of one of the articles of clothing. It was more than $150. Honest AND hard working!!! read more

I cannot believe these negative reviews- it almost seems as if someone was trying to jeopardize this company intentionally. I normally don't write reviews, but I felt like I needed to add my two cents because some of these reviews are misleading. Here's what I love- 1. They are transparent about the green products they use. I am sensitive to different chemicals, and when I called to ask, they were really nice and told me exactly what products they would use to clean my home. 2. They are always on time and fast to get out. 3. The cleaning is spotless, and if there are any issues, which is understandable (we are all humans), you can call the office and they have someone come back to do whatever you're unhappy with. I only had to do this once in the past two years that I have been using them. The only thing that I could nitpick about is that when I schedule for a different day then my regular weekly apt, I don't get my usual cleaning group. Again- understandable. read more

I wish I could give 0 stars. This is the second review I've taken the time to write. We had a new construction home and our builder hired them to clean the house for our move in. They charged $600 which I thought was excessive. When the women were cleaning, several were on their phones the whole time sort of casually cleaning with no detail at all. Our house was covered with sawdust and we need a deep clean. The worst part, and why I am writing this review, is that they ruined our brand new, never been used marble shower. As soon as they were done, I noticed that there were bleach/ammonia splotches all over the floor of the shower like someone poured a bucket of non-marble safe chemicals down the drain. The owner showed up to see it within 2 hours of his women leaving and said that obviously someone came in after them and poured a bucket of something in the shower. Who???? This was not days later. It was hours and we called him immediately. He said they use only "green" products. Are you kidding? A cleaning service doesn't know that green doesn't mean "safe for marble"? So, he paid to have a marble restorer come out who confirmed they used a product not safe for natural stone. He tried for a long time but could not repair the damage. Our tile installer said it would be $1000 to rip out the old floor and put a new one in and we may have problems with leaking because it is not as good as when it is put in all together. Great. Now we are stuck with either a damaged floor with bleach all over it in what used to be a beautiful shower or a potentially leaky floor with different color marble (since the lot we purchased is gone and the new lot is very dark). Needless to say, our builder told him that he was not getting paid because we now have $1000 repair job ahead of us and he should actually pay for the extra $400. I guess recently the Kulas guy actually called to demand payment. If they don't know how to clean stone, how do they call themselves a cleaning service? read more

Marginal. Cleaning is a B minus or a solid C. Customer service on phone still lacking. Requested a particular crew (one that subbed in over the holidays and was markedly better than current cleaning crew).
