It's $14.25 though for a large piece but they sell a much smaller individual piece for $1.25. The individual piece has more cake and less sugar topping, which is not the worst thing. CASH ONLY

So we were having company & I decided to order. Crumb cake a HUGE disappointment. Stale & the crumb topping so hard that it was hard to eat. Pastries tasted old tho the eclait was good. We ordered other stuff. Delivery came & we immediately realized that we were missing HALF of our order. We looked on our receipt, items listed & CHARGED. Immediately we called. They said nothing they can do, only the manager can help us but of course he wasn't due in until the following day but they took our number & said they would have him call us but of course he didn't. We called fir him th we next day & guess what? Yep not due in until 3pm. So far, not items but charged us & didn't either call us or give us an option to get other things with the money they have of ours. Their ordering system should have alerted us that those items were out of stock by instead took our money & decided not to even tell us. VERY POOR QUALITY BAKED GOODS. VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE

To most Polish Americans, National Pączki Day means making a ton of these delicious sweets and…read morebinge-eating them. It is celebrated the Thursday in the week before Ash Wednesday, whose tradition is unique since it dates back to at least the Middle Ages, and is the perfect excuse to eat the famous and delicious Polish pastry. Pączki, pronounced "poonch-key," are Polish deep-fried donuts that are filled with some sweet filling such as jam, custard, lemon curd, or chocolate. They are usually covered with powdered sugar, icing, glaze, or dried orange zest. Located on Jewell Street in Garfield, we've been coming here to Kohout Bakery for a couple of years. Greeted by the friendly staff, my partner and I were lucky to have the whole establishment to ourselves. Like a step back in time, this small bakery sells freshly made bread, danishes, cookies, strudel, and some deli meats. Patrons have raved about the perfect balance of flavors, particularly noting the distinction between glazed and powdered jelly varieties. We picked out a couple of their donuts, whose price was very reasonable and cash only. This bakery continues to celebrate the joy of baking and the flavors of generations past, which we can recommend.

My favorite -and I order ahead - is their Polish rice cake :) The cookies are gone before a day goes by! Oh, and try their macaroni salad. Yummy! I'm definitely a chocolate chip cookie connoisseur, so I'm picky when it comes to this kind of thing. I only tried them because Starbucks was closed for renovations and I needed something to hold me over. I have to say, I was impressed. The cookies were actually really good. Great flavor and texture. They changed my mind. The only downside for me is the price. Five dollars for one cookie just feels a bit too high. It's not that I'm being cheap, it just doesn't feel right for something like a cookie. I'd buy them again, just not as often as I would with Starbucks. More of a once in a while treat. One thing that would definitely take them to the next level is if they could lightly warm them up when you order. A warm cookie just hits different, and it would really bring out the flavor and texture even more. All in all, definitely worth trying. I'm glad I gave them a shot.
