The cake was delicious. Even though it came from the case it was fresh and the price was reasonable. The lobster tail was not dry at all. We will be back next time we are in the area.

It's ok. 3.5 stars. It's been hit or miss with their cakes. Bought a small fruit tart cake for $25, but they used seeded grapes and I bit into one very annoyed and embarrassed I had to tell my guests to watch bc the grapes had seeds. They should use the seedless or leave them off. Same for the strawberries--they should slice them with the stems off so you don't need to do work to eat a slice of the cake. Cookies are consistently very good, as are their pastries.

OMG the cakes and pastries are TO DIE FOR! Great service, too! The shop is spacious and clean. They have tables inside to sit and enjoy your pastries.

Outstanding service. Great Italian bakery. Everything is fresh and made with care. We needed a birthday cake for my mom and they only had blue cakes up front. The kind woman went to the baker and had one finished for us in pink with roses with a strawberry filling white cake with whipped cream. So delicious and fresh and soft. Not overly sweet either. This was amazing and all the workers were really nice and attentive.

very disappointed. waited for a cake that was suppose to have a picture on it, and it was a rushed job, the picture is lifting up on the cake and they didn't add the decorative roses.... would have been better off with a Walmart cake.

Located in Saddle Brook , I came to this local establishment for some Italian bread. To avoid the long lines and thanks to the owner, Maria, I had pre-ordered and pre-paid a couple of days ago. Upon arrival at the designated time, there were some patrons ordering their goods as it opened an hour earlier at 7am. Surprisingly the lines moved despite the staff were calling out the order numbers. I was out of the bakery within 5 minutes. A Happy Thanksgiving!

HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE. Ordered a custom cake for my moms 80th birthday and boy was I disappointed. Every aspect of this special ordered custom cake was a disaster. First off it was over 2 hours late to be delivered. Secondly, what business presents a cake like this ? See pictures. Flavor was chocolate.....does this look like chocolate? It wasn't finished. Who delivers a cake with cake showing ? Why wasn't it finished ? When I called to provide my feedback to Maria, she was rude, nasty and could not be bothered listening to my disappointment. All I can say is STAY AWAY & FIND A DIFFERENT BAKERY to order from.

Vanilla sponge cake with choc pudding filling, choc mousse outside and requested Reese's pieces to the top. DELICIOUS!

Recently purchased a 10" round custom cake from Maria's with vanilla sponge cake, chocolate pudding and chocolate mousse with requested reeses pieces on top and a cross they beautifully did in flowers. This bakery's "old school" mentality is hard to find anymore and may not offer all of the modern fancy amenities newer businesses can but you can absolutely taste the love and care they put into their craft. Everyone was impressed. They went above and beyond for our requests. Very helpful friendly staff. Will absolutely order for future events from them again. Thank you!

Excellent Italian pastries! The lobster claws are HUGE. The cream in the eclairs are delicious too.

This bakery is just okay. Their lobster claws are the best!!! Their staff could be a little more friendlier.

It is celebrated the Thursday in the week before Ash Wednesday, whose tradition is unique since it dates back to at least the Middle Ages, and is the perfect excuse to eat the famous and delicious Polish pastry. Pączki, pronounced "poonch-key," are Polish deep-fried donuts that are filled with some sweet filling such as jam, custard, lemon curd, or chocolate. They are usually covered with powdered sugar, icing, glaze, or dried orange zest. Located on Jewell Street in Garfield, we've been coming here to Kohout Bakery for a couple of years. Greeted by the friendly staff, my partner and I were lucky to have the whole establishment to ourselves. Like a step back in time, this small bakery sells freshly made bread, danishes, cookies, strudel, and some deli meats. Patrons have raved about the perfect balance of flavors, particularly noting the distinction between glazed and powdered jelly varieties. We picked out a couple of their donuts, whose price was very reasonable and cash only. This bakery continues to celebrate the joy of baking and the flavors of generations past, which we can recommend.

My favorite -and I order ahead - is their Polish rice cake :) The cookies are gone before a day goes by! Oh, and try their macaroni salad. Yummy! This shoppe feels like 1969 and I mean that in the very best way! Go and enjoy a little of everything The staff will help you describing what you don't recognize. I could go on and on. Park wherever your car fits. It's on Kohout's Way and they don't ticket. Cash only. ATM across the street. Plan to smile when you get home :) Your car will smell delicious too!
