All right, so I'm from New York; I know my delis. I was really excited to try one closer to where I live now. Sure, they're almost never really Kosher (various pork products on the menu), but as I'm not Orthodox, I had high hopes. I was seated quickly; the waitress seemed nice. I ordered a half chopped liver sandwich, matzo ball soup, and a nice plate of sour pickles as well as an egg cream. Now, for those of you reading along who aren't Jewish, an egg cream has neither egg nor cream. All it is is chocolate syrup and soda. I'm fairly sure mine had milk. I stopped drinking it as soon as I realized; mixing meat and milk is not something we do. The matzo ball soup was good, but strange; it seemed more like a beef noodle than anything, with a matzo ball (small, strangely gooey) in it. The pickles, however, are another story, and are why I'm posting this review. I was told they had "real New York sour pickles". I asked for them, and the waitress was surprised. She asked if I was sure. I said yes, of course, real pickles are hard to find. I got a whole plate of them. Real New York pickles are sour, garlicky, savory delights. One of my favorite things in the world. These were soaked in vinegar strong enough to take the roof off your mouth, and something that tasted like lemon? It was as though someone had tried to make pickles in Pine Sol. This is the kicker. Up till now, I'd had very good service. The owner LAUGHED at me while I was eating. "You like those pickles? They're disgusting? No one gets them!" I can see why. I left a good tip for my waitress, but I'm not coming back. read more

I give them 2 stars because they're one of the few places that you can get a real corned beef sandwich in the metrowest area. Went for breakfast on Sunday. Ordered corned beef hash and scrambled eggs with home fries and onion bagel and cream cheese. The corned beef was unrecognizable and tasted like a mix of cabbage, carrots and bits of meat. The eggs were in itty bitty pieces. The staff was nice and the place was crowded but I won't be back. This place has that vibe that the owner just doesn't care anymore. I ordered a stack of blueberry pancakes to split with my girlfriend and the syrup looked like somebody blew thier nose in it. Stringy and melted sugary but just not healthy looking. My hash was dry and crumbly. The only thing that made it edible was the dropped eggs I mixed them in. My homefries were dry and burnt. This is the third time I have been there in the past year and I don't think I will be returning. One time I got the french toast and the bread wasn't even eggy in the middle. It was just dry bread grilled. If you want a good deli experience go ti Zaftigs. If you want an inexpensive and consistant greesy diner experience go to CJ's. F this place. This deli has a rather tacky and uncomfortable interior. On a Saturday morning I was refused a single table because I was alone. Other lone diners were given tables. The waitresses were rude, full of attitude, and one slammed my coffee down on the table - even though I never argued with them. Poached eggs were sloppy, unattractive. Corned beef hash was unbelievably dry and had an unpleasant taste. In sum, bad food and bad service. There are a lot of other options in the area. This one is really worth missing! read more

I just discovered this place last w/e and, what can I say, it's amazeballs. Or matza balls. Whatever, it's fantastic. We arrived at 10am and it was already crowded, though it's not a big restaurant so seating is limited. We did get seats right away. I ordered an egg, bagel, and chocolate chip pancake. Everything was awesome. Service was great. I think this is one of my favorite breakfast joints now. The prices are unbeatable. Definitely try the pancakes if you go...they are delectable. Lox platter hit the mark, though the large slices of lox were lacking in flavor. Bagels were good. Chive cream cheese was actually scallion cream cheese. Brisket also lacking in flavor. But the main complaint was the disheveled waitress service and kitchen commotion which spills out into the cramped and badly maintained dining area, and marred the experience. read more

Terrible! This is NOT a good quality deli. To begin, the atmosphere is dark and looks dirty. The gentleman who served me wasn't too friendly but I wouldn't say he was rude. I ordered a sandwich from their menu online and I paid over $4 more than it was listed at. Turkey was full of FAT and it was clear they literally threw it together since it was falling apart. Horrible Hispanic Nazi woman, very rude, and her dummy coworker who thought a double bacon cheeseburger meant a cheeseburger with a half pound of bacon on it. Oy! Growing up in an ethnic home, food is love. Especially in my Jewish mischpokhe (family) where my bubbe (grandmother) a mediocre cook at most 'American' food prepared the fluffiest kneidlach (matzoh balls), the creamiest blintzes, and the sweetest most heavenly Kugel this side of Heaven. To the uninitiated Kugel is an Ashekenazic (Eastern European Jewish) delicacy that can be either potato or lokhshen (noodles, egg noodles). Noodle kugel from the 1950's Jewish mother like Bubbe meant sweet sweet dairy goodness in the form of sour cream, egg noodles, cottage cheese, raisins, peaches, pineapples, and of course love. Needless to say I love Kugel and to me it represents the warmth of childhood and creamy dairy goodness of Bubbe's kitchen. So when I chanced upon a New York style delicatessen named Kugel's in Framingham, I almost plotzed (exploded). Although I had a work lunch meeting planned for later on in the day I ran right in and proudly ordered kugel and a Doctor Brown's cream soda. The kugel was not as good as Bubbe's, Mom's or mine own but it still got the essence of a good noodle kugel- nicely done egg noodles and not too skimpy with the dairy. Best kugel I've had in a commercial kitchen by a long shot. Not sure about the rest of the menu but if you can't make it to Bubbe or Zeyde's, Kugel's kugel will do in a pinch. read more

Amazing matzoh ball soup, service was fantastic. They had a really good pastrami sandwich. Also they carry a variety of soda, I had the Dr. Brown's root beer. It's a little hidden but the prices and the food was good. It's next to the overcrowded new IHOP. If you aren't patient for a wait I would def recommend skipping IHOP and coming here. read more

I enjoy the neighborhood feeling in Kugels, along with the great food. The breakfasts are consistently good. The waitresses are very fast and pleasant. The egg sandwich in the morning and the pulled turkey sandwich for lunch are fantastic. Prices are good too. A must stop-by if you are in Framingham center. I've eaten here many times and never had an issue until yesterday when the owner was so rude to me. The fruit cup was inedible and I asked them to take it off my bill. When I went to pay at the counter it was still on the bill. I wasn't talking to him and yet he yelled over to me, "Lady, the fruit was fine." I told him the melon was hard and he insisted it was fine, shaking his head at me. The conversation continued with him making nasty comments to me. I was surprised that he would be so rude to a customer. I told him that he lost my business and I'd make sure to let others know they shouldn't go there as well. I'd like to go with 3.5 stars if I could - as I need another visit to solidify my opinion. We went 1 for 2 on the sandwiches. I had the pastrami, which I found to be surprisingly tough and fatty. My wife had a Rachel (corned beef and coleslaw) which was very tender and delicious. The fries weren't that good, but the onion rings were really good. Again we went 1 for 2. Disappointing on s Saturday afternoon at 1 pm . Got a turkey club with fries and a diet soda . They forgot the fountain soda , tried to charge 2.59 for it. The fries were hours old and terrible , any place should have tossed them before serving to a customer. I was hoping for a better alternative to the nearby zaftigs , but I left quite disappointed in the service and the food. This is a popular jewish deli in the center of Framingham. You can get it all here. Although, I have not tried it yet, I hear that the brisket is really good. 90% of the time I come here, I order their romanian pastrami sandwich on Challah bread or a bulkie roll. I've never actually been to Kugel's, only gotten takeout from them. I worked at a local college and it was an office favorite long before I became one of the office crew. We got Kugel's every time we had some reason to order lunch off-campus. Delicious food, good service, and reasonably priced. I recommend the Thai Chicken Wrap and the pickles! read more

I really like how everyone here seems to want to provide a great experience. We had showed up for a late breakfast when the place was packed and the waitress asked if we would be interested in sharing a back table for 6 with another party of 3 with a young daughter. This deli is a hidden gem in Framingham Centre. My favorite breakfast item is their veggie omelet. I get it with eggwhites and no cheese and top it off with their homemade hot sauce - to die for. If you are a carboholic try their banana walnut pancakes with honey - sigh! If there is one thing I love about Kugel's it's their willingness to work with their customers. For example, my dietary needs are such that the traditional sides of potatoes and toast just don't work but these guys have been willing to sub fruit, oatmeal, or cottage cheese. Gotta love that! My mom usually gets a cup of one of their many homemade soups for breakfast. Price-wise you won't do better - large filling portions for an extremely decent price. Breakfast for two will cost you about $15. Weekdays you can even do it for less as they have a really great special for two. Yes, it does get busy but the wait is never long. read more

This place really is an authentic New York style deli. You know when the place is completely packed with locals that its going to be good. I had a Romanian Pastrami sandwich & Matzo ball soup. I think Romanian pastrami must be related to bacon, but with more flavor & less fat. Yum! Staci had pea soup - very thick & flavorful - & a corned beef sandwich.
