On my last visit, I called back three separate times to tweak my toppings, and each time, they were so kind and accommodating. By the third call, we laughed about it together--it was never a bother to them, just another example of their friendly and welcoming service. I've been here a couple times now after hearing about it from a coworker. I got their cranberry walnut chicken salad on a half loan Italian. Which is no joke by the way - it's a LOT of bread but it's part of the charm. I loved every bite. My husband loves their BLTs. The store itself is small but has a large selection of drinks and chips. The pando and inflation is definitely caused regatta to raise their prices but I feel like it's comparable to any other lunch spot. I've seen people complain about the amount of bread they get with their sandwich. It's definitely a beefy, dense roll but it's a regatta. I enjoy the beard they use for their sandwiches. It gets packed during lunch and the service area can get crowded but the staff does a great job of getting your order in quickly. You place your order first and pay once it's ready. They sometimes have table outside but this is definitely a grab and go type of place. They have an option to call ahead to place your order which I recommend for larger orders. If you want to be quick order the standard regatta (Italian) I recommend the loaded regatta with hots if you want a more substantial sandwich with hots. It costs a few dollars more but worth it. I end up cutting it in half and saving some for later. It's a massive sandwich. Don't sleep on the max or potato salads. I've also ordered the steak and cheese with onions, mushrooms and peppers. The bread definitely hold up to those fillings. I know I need to try more options but I'm stubborn and really enjoy my Italian sandos. read more

My husband got a turkey and roast beef on a gigantic fresh, beautiful grinder, and I had a seafood salad with lettuce and tomato on pita bread that was amazing and so full it was just bursting. I ordered their " famous" regatta club sandwich. I expected what I normally get when I order a "club"sandwich. But this was nothing like that. It came already pre-made which I was okay with. But no lie it was all bread it was a huge piece of bread and this bread I have seen at Walmart. It is a dollar for a loaf they probably make three sandwiches out of it it was huge. Next there was a handful of lettuce in it. I removed most of the lettuce and there were three slices of meat and one slice of cheese. There was a slice of tomato. There was nothing else in it. No salt n pepper, no mayo, nothing.it was haphazardly put together it had absolutely zero flavor. It was at least 60% bread 30% lettuce and 10% other. The other sandwich we ordered was the prosciutto and mozzarella grilled panini. I was surprised that it was served on regular sliced white bread. And it was not grilled. I'm not even sure if the mozzrella was fresh or not. The sandwich was very thin and small. Just make an effort maybe buy your bread from a baker or make your own bread. And if you're going to call your sandwich famous you should at least put some meat in it. Today I bought two sandwiches and two drinks and wasted $25. I really wanted to like your place. read more

Y-U-M! I have been walking/riding by this deli for over two years now and have just managed to stop in for a grinder--boy oh boy did it not disappoint! I was feeling a hearty sandwich for lunch and decided on the steak bomb. Honestly, it was one of the best steak sandwiches I've ever had in while. The steak was sooooooo juicy and well seasoned; the bread was toasted yet fluffy, loads of cheese and they certainly did not skimp on the veggies. Probably could have split the sandwich for two meals but I ate half and immediately dove back in for more. I called in my order and picked up up ~15 minutes later; the staff promptly greeted me and retrieved my order while juggling the many other customers since I visited during peak lunch time. My sandwich was excellent and I was pleased with the service, but the interior is a bit dark drab and I likely wouldn't ever opt to eat in, but I will certainly return again and again for another grinder to go! read more

They are known for their regatta club sandwich which is much like a typical Italian but this one is on steroids and tastes incredible. I however have explored other sandwiches and have yet to be disappointed, from something simple like a turkey wrap to a chicken cutlet with bacon and cheese sub, it never ceases to please. They have a ton of salads and deserts and drinks and chips. Their pasta salad is awesome, light not greasy or loaded with mayo, nice crisp crunches of what j think is celery is a great contrast to the pasta. Their rice pudding is homemade and delicious. Deserts I've seen....tiramisu, red velvet, chocolate mousse, chocolate extreme, carrot cake, choc. pudding rice pudding baklava and tapioca!! Salads I've seen... Antipasto, tuna, Greek, plain fruit, stuffed cabbage, meat and meatless grape leaves potato, pasta Italian, pasta macaroni, aaaand Cuban Everything is super cheap to top it off! Not sure why there is a low rating here but this might be the best value sandwich in Worcester. While prices have gone up over the past few years, this is still a great sandwich. For those who complain about the sandwiches in the fridge, they are cold cuts that sell throughout the day... it speeds up the process and I doubt they sit there for longer than a day considering the volume that they pump out here. If there really is a problem tell them to make it in the back and I am sure they are more than happy to. I like my italians with mayo rather than oil so they always make mine in the back and I don't mind the wait. The turkey bacon is excellent as well. Keep it up! read more

Mrs B and I stopped here today for a couple of sandwiches for lunch. She had a Regatta while I had a Veal Parmesan. Both were huge and great tasting. Though the lunch crowd was just coming in, the counter staff already seemed a bit frazzled, though still friendly. Parking can be a bit tough, street parking only. I always get the Regatta Club, every time, no exceptions, because it is truly one of life's simple pleasures. Anyone who complains about this sandwich has rocks for brains! Sure, there's a LOT of bread. It's a half-loaf of Italian bread, filled with yummy goodness! It doesn't need anything extra, (except for maybe some chips and a pickle). It makes 2 meals for me and I'm a big guy! If you complain about this sandwich, I know 2 things about you; #1, You complain about EVERYTHING, and #2, Nobody likes you! P.S. get in, place your order, pay the cashier, take your stuff and get out! So I am very picky when it comes to Italian Sandwiches.. Since I moved from the greater Boston area I have been looking for a good place to get a sub, and I found it at Regatta. The place is always busy, but you get in and out quickly. Parking can be tough but it should not deter you from grabbing an sandwich. I have been several times now and I love their Italian Club. I have tried other sandwiches and food items but have always come back to the club. These sandwiches are large and will fill you up. Update: I noticed another reviewer saw the whole thing. I usually order their Regatta club and get them and go and have no problem. This time I ordered a cutlet deluxe. They take my order and I wait about fifteen minutes while other people get their orders. People that were there after me get served, but I figured mine is a hot sandwich so it takes longer. Finally some guys that came in five minutes after me get served their cutlets. So, I go up and complain at which point the older woman yells at me to, "just hold on they're real busy back there!" in a real crappy tone. She goes in the back without trying to resolve anything at which point the more reasonable guy actually finds out what my order was and sends it back. I wait another five to ten at which point the older woman comes out with the sandwich and says, "I'm sorry sir" at which point, because I'm pissed and hungry and got yelled at for nothing I interject, "well, you should be!" At that point the older woman's daughter interjects and starts continually screaming at me not to yell at her mother creating a lovely scene. I grab my sandwiches and tell them to learn how to do their jobs as I walk out. The cutlet sub was garbage to boot. They have a bunch of signs up in there proclaiming that family is most important so if you go there expect them to make excuses for their family's lousy service rather than actually making the customer happy. read more

Having moved to the area a few years ago, I've heard a few life-long residents of Worcester County consistently sing the praises of the Regatta Deli. You need only read the first few reviews here to see that its following is strong, and that's fine. Good for them. Glad to see a local business thrive. That having been said, I think many of the comments are based on sentiment, and not judgment. Regatta will satisfy those who want a straight-up sandwich, nothing fancy. The downside of achieving that goal, however, is obvious: in terms of flavor, there is NOTHING to recommend these sandwiches. They are what they are, and the major deficiency falls on the doughy shoulders of the bread. This is NOT Italian bread. The only way you can consider this Italian bread is if you consider the cheap grocery-store-baked enormous loaves of "Italian" bread (that taste the same as their "French" bread, only in a differently shaped bag) the real deal. And that's what, say, their signature Regatta Club is served on. I literally had to tear off the top layer of bread and eat my sandwich open-faced, and there was still little flavor. The picture associated with this deli is pretty accurate. Ahh, the Regatta Club. I grew up outside Massachusetts in a largely Italian community--and an area renowned for their Italian Combos. Therefore, I believe that if you want something a little truer to an Italian Combo, I suggest ordering the Italian Club at Paquette Farms on Rte. 140 in Shrewsbury. Boars Head Meats and GOOD BREAD. Same price. I'd give it close to four stars, as opposed to the two stars I'm giving the Regatta Club. And the service is extremely friendly. I am done with having friends talk me back into trying Regatta. Disappointed over and over again. In fact (and this is painful), as much as I believe in supporting local establishments over chains, I'd sooner go to Panera than Regatta. In fact, I'd sooner skip lunch altogether. read more
