My daughter went to assumption college which is not far from New England roast beef. Almost every time my wife or I went to visit her we would stop and bring home sandwiches or eat in being sure everyone in the family got to order off the extensive menu. It's been awhile since we were in Worcester so I decided to revisit New England roast beef. They absolutely delivered a great experience with healthy sized portions and more than reasonable prices. The staff at the counter were fantastic, friendly and helpful. My giant roast beef sandwich on an onion roll with lettuce tomato, onion and horseradish sauce was great. I paired it with a cup of clam chowder. Creamy, well seasoned packed with perfectly cooked potatoes and plenty of clams was right on point. My daughter and her boyfriend got the steak tip dinner. Fantastic portions of marinated perfectly grilled steak, served with rice, salad and a piece of French bread. I can't see how they make money with the amount of food we got. If you're in Worcester give them a try. read more

Very nice staff here. There was a fair amount of take away during our visit so they seem to be doing A-OK. A few parking spots are in front of the building and a couple more to the side. A menu board is posted over the order counter and two soft drink coolers to choose a bottled beverage from are next to the cashier. The menu offers a variety of sandwiches, salads and soups. There are a lot of sauces you can add to your sandwich if the menu doesn't specify what condiments are included. You can also make your sandwich a 'platter' if you want to add fries, onion rings and coleslaw to your sandwich. I ordered the roast beef and asked for horse radish sauce. There was a *lot* of sauce on this sandwich. So much so, that was all I could really taste so I'm not sure if I actually like their roast beef or not. I should have asked if I could get it 'on the side' I suppose. Live and learn. From what I could see under the sauce, the roast beef is cooked very rare. It was difficult to chew through and with all that sauce it made for a very messy meal. We ate in their dining room which is a small, pleasant space with lots of old photos of Worcester. The napkins available at the table are kind of useless. They smear the mess, they don't mop it up. I used a LOT of napkins trying to keep tidy while eating my sandwich. The fries were very good when hot. Crispy outside, fluffy inside. The coleslaw was almost without flavor. Salt and pepper are on the table. You're going to want those. Just watch that salt shaker, it comes out FAST! There is one restroom for all guests at the back, past the kitchen. It's clean and in good working condition. read more

Walked in at 3:00pm on a Saturday afternoon and hit it just right. Plenty of tables to sit at. Nice young ladies took our orders and were very polite. Super beef platter with rings and fries and a MASSIVE pickle on the side. Great sandwich! Be prepared to use some napkins though! Some of the best rings and fries you're going to find. Really great food, no complaints. If you're in the area check out NERB.....you won't be disappointed! read more

Pretty good sandwich! Only been once, but it was pretty good value. My sandwich didn't look much like the pictures from other reviews, though, scrawnier. Maybe it's not so consistent? Onion rings were legit. Friendly service; would go back and try again. read more

Glad to have "discovered" New England Roast Beef! It's right around the corner from the Worcester Crafts Center so very convenient. The menu is expansive, so much so that I stood there for a long while indecisively. Hot stuff, cold stuff, drinks, sides, plenty of options. I ended up getting the WPI which has roast beef and horseradish since I figured it should be extra good there considering the name of the place. Still.. I was delightfully surprised by the quality of the roast beef. It was lean, flavorful and tender. The horseradish was more of a sauce than I'm used to but was yummy. I'll be back! read more

Ordered the roast beef sandwich and a small salad. The sandwich was delicious with a lot of meat. It was too large for me. Overall I would t order it again, ordered it because I read so many reviews and wanted the experience. But I would order other sandwiches from there for sure. The salad was fresh. read more

Classic, old school style sandwich shop serving up rare roast beef sandwiches with all the fixings on an onion roll and other deli classics. The roast beef sandwich platter comes with onion rings and fries, which were golden and perfectly crispy. Came here after a morning of thrifting at the Goodwill next door and it hit the spot. Would definitely come back! read more

the food was decent. the food lacks salt, unironically my favourite thing was the ranch dressing, it was the only thing that actually had flavour. I don't remember much of the service I was too busy complaining about the lack of salt in the food. read more

I came to New England Roast Beef, or as the cool kids call it, "NERB," with a single, noble goal: to experience the legendary three-way. Now, before you call your parents, let me clarify. I'm talking about the sandwich--the glorious, gut-busting trifecta of shaved roast beef, gooey American cheese, and a generous slathering of BBQ sauce and mayo, all piled high on an onion roll. NERB is one of those places that feels like a time capsule. The kind of place where you half-expect to see a group of guys from the '80s arguing about the Red Sox while a young Ben Affleck eats a Super Beef in the corner. The decor is, shall we say, "utilitarian chic." There are tables, there are chairs, and there's a menu that's a testament to the fact that "less is more" is a philosophy they've never heard of. I'm pretty sure their slogan is "If you can put it on a bun, we will." I ordered the three-way, of course. My friend the more sensible of the two of us, opted for a regular ol' roast beef sandwich or should I say the WPI. A rookie mistake. My sandwich arrived, a glorious, dripping monument to gluttony. It was so big, I had to hold it with two hands, like a precious baby--a baby that could give me a heart attack. The first bite was a revelation. The tender roast beef, the sharp tang of the BBQ, the creamy mayo, and the sweet onion roll all coalesced into a flavor that made me question every other sandwich I've ever eaten. As I was halfway through my masterpiece, a man, clearly a local, walked in with his teenage son. The son, a lanky kid with headphones, looked like he'd rather be anywhere else. The dad, on the other hand, had the look of a man on a mission. He ordered a Super Beef for himself and a regular roast beef for his son. The moment the Super Beef was placed in front of him, the dad's eyes lit up. He took a bite, closed his eyes, and a single tear of joy rolled down his cheek. He was home. His son, meanwhile, was scrolling through his phone, completely oblivious to the culinary miracle happening inches away from him. I wanted to shake him and yell, "Son, your father is experiencing nirvana! Pay attention!" NERB isn't just a restaurant; it's a rite of passage. It's the kind of place where you go when you've had a bad day, or a good day, or any day that ends in "y." It's a place where you can find solace in a pile of perfectly cooked meat and a roll that's seen some things. Just be warned: the three-way is not for the faint of heart. It's a marathon, not a sprint. And you might want to bring a change of clothes. You'll need it. read more

The food was wonderful! Tender with no gristle/ fat on the steak and cheese. The roast beef practically melts in your mouth! Service was friendly and efficient. The place had lots of Red Sox and other Boston sports decor. Right up my alley! read more

Subs were amazing! I had the loaded steak sub with onion rings and she had the roast beef! We will return!

Picking up some beer at Greater Good and I heard this place had good subs, so I figured I'd give it a go. First of all ... getting here is a pain in the ass. I think its fair to say that "Wuh-stah" drivers are among the worst in the world and the most aggressive. When coming towards Park Ave. there is a section where you have only a few feet to cut across 5 lanes of busy traffic to get in the left turn lanes so you can U-Turn. This gauntlet of road rage alone gives me pause to attempt a trip here again. The shop is small and cute in a 1980's sort of way. Folks in MA like their subs, or 'grine-dahs' (grinders) as they say in Wuh-Stah. Lots of hockey stuff on the walls. There is a LOT on the menu to choose from. The entry area is not exactly ideal during covid as once you order, there isn't anywhere out of the way to stand as you wait. I called in my sub 10 minutes before pick up and still had to wait 5 minutes. It was pretty crowded around 1 pm. The Steak Bomb sub itself ... was bland and dry. It did not have much taste and the more salt and pepper I added, all I could taste was the bread. The steak was not juicy or greasy the way a good philly steak should be. It honestly was like eating attic insulation. The cardinal sin was that they put slices of American cheese on TOP of the sandwich and wrapped it. All that cheese stuck to the foil wrap. Any good Philly steak place puts the cheese in with the meat on the grill so it melts in with the meat. That would have solved the dryness problem and part of the blandness problem. (Actually seasoning the meat would also help.) The reason this place gets so much business is the subs are HUGE! Almost ridiculously so. There is only a Large sub and it is big. I'd def. not be able to eat a whole one on my own and I'm a big eater. Kind of a waste as, unlike an Italian sub, you can't reheat an already rubbery Philly Steak sandwich. A small size (half the large) would work better. However, Worcester is a XXL kind of city, so I am sure not too many people have issues polishing off these ridiculously overstuffed subs. The online prices were cheaper than the actual prices by a bit ... I feel like $11 for a sub is a bit on the pricey side for me. However seeing how huge the subs are, it would be hard to complain. I think I ordered wrong. The Philly Steak wasn't the way to go. I'll come back and try the Italian or the Super Roastbeef. They looked like they had soups and wings and some seafood as well. The prices here are sit-down restaurant sized in a sub shop. My food was really a 2 star affair ... however I am bumping up to 3 because this place is popular among locals and I probably should have stuck with the roast beef. read more

This is literally one of the best places to have clam chowder. I don't know about any of the other food items expecting the chowder and a few sandwiches my husband has ordered in the past but the chowder- WOW. it's thick so we buy a whole pint or two and then go home and add a couple tablespoons of water but otherwise i could eat it as is. Way better than any chowder we've had in boston including the touristy/famous ones. Very very good. The only other spot that was as good was a small place in Maine but yes -we have driven from Dartmouth just to enjoy it. read more

New England Roast Beef is definitely the place to go if you're craving delicious sandwiches and roast beef. Service is quick and food is spot on. Recently tried one of their special--the Hawaiian ham grilled chicken sandwich. Super tasty sandwich if you are a sucker for pineapples. Love it. My wife had the clam strip roll and she enjoyed as well. If you opt for a meal, you get onion rings AND fries. When I placed the order I thought it was just one or the other. But you get both--with generous offerings too. If I recall correctly, they do beer battered onion rings and fries. Good stuff. Definitely the place to order if you're craving some sandwiches, subs, roast beef, etc in the Woo. They are currently offering indoor dining and/or takeout. Delivery also through food delivery apps. Enjoy. read more

We've been here several times now and have ordered the Super beef, roast beef sandwich and turkey sub. My god, these portions are huge!! You can definitely share one sandwich between two people. There is so much roast beef, beef or turkey stuffed into the sandwich! The prices are great, most around $10-15 dollars or so and it's definitely a great value given how much you get. They also sell soups, baked goods, chips and soft drinks. There's very few parking in the lot but most people take out anyways so you won't really have a problem with parking. read more

I'll get to the point. The food was exceptional. The service friendly. There is a nice variety on the menu where there literally is something for everyone. We had roast beef my husband had the WPI and I had the Super Beef. Meat was cooked onsite and you can tell. The lady that helped us at the counter was very helpful and made suggestions. The parking was limited out front but do not let that deter you. There is a shopping center next to it with plenty of parking it is a 2 minute walk. I would definitely be a regular if I lived here. I'm not sure how I haven't reviewed them bc I've been going there for years. I came on Yelp to see if anyone else noticed a significant difference in the size of their subs recently. They've always been great. Quality has always been excellent, the subs have been huge and plentiful with whatever is inside. For $15-17 for a sub (one size for sub roll) it should be a generous size like it was. Now it's smaller than a subway foot long. Before the size change and leaving out an entire soup that is $5-7 i would have given them 4-4.5 stars. I hope they rectify this or change their pricing. They're such an excellent local joint. read more

Five stars for New England Roast Beef, starting from the service and continuing through an absolutely excellent sandwich. It's quick food with a menu of sandwiches and subs and soups. Nothing spectacular but the lunch turned out to be awesome. The young lady at the register was terrific. I had been all queued up for a lobster roll when I saw a roast beef sandwich go by on a platter and my mind instantly changed. "I want that," I said, pointing to the sandwich. She asked, "Do you want what's good on it?" and I was in love. I let her lead and I ended up with horseradish sauce and blue cheese, adding some sliced tomato. The sandwich was a little drippy (no biggie) and the roast beef was perfect. Lean, rare, tasty. I had gotten the platter, so it also came with onion rings and fries. Both were great. Nice and crisp. The fries were a little seasoned and were a rectangular cut. Excellent. They have a couple racks of chips and a couple coolers of sodas. read more

I can go to New England Roast Beef everyday for 60 days and not have the same thing twice. Seriously, this place serves one great roast beef sandwich. The wife and I where on are way back to NJ from Boston. We needed food after a previous night of fun at Dead n Co. concert. Something with bread was in order. Pizza pass. Deli yes. While I am not a fan of restaurants that have a food item or a geographical area in their name. I was totally surprised by New England Roast Beef. This place was busy. There was always a line of 5 to 7 people. Menu HUGE. I mean the combination of items with roast beef was to much to handle. I wanted everything. Ordered a roast beef with horseradish, lettuce, tomato, onion on a hero bread. Like their menu huge hero. It was absolutely delicious. Wife had something else on a dark bread that also was delicious. We could only eat half. After a few more hours of driving. The other half was finished with a smile. There is a parking lot out front. It is small and always full; just wait a couple of minutes because someone will leave shortly. Like I said; busy. As you walk in their is a counter with a menu board above with all types of roast beef base sandwiches. I did not know what to order. I just picked one and enjoyed. Friendly staff. Clean. Seats about 25 or so. Lot's of take out. CC friendly. Overall, I will be back. Can't wait. New England Roast Beef serves a well balance sandwich. The ratio of meat to bread to veggies was just right. Plenty of food. Enjoy and smile. So good........ read more

Probably the best place to go for sandwiches in Worcester! I'm surprised they offer seafood choices along with their regular menu too. There's certain things you would usually only find at a beach restaurant that they have here, such as fried shrimp, fish and chips, and even lobster rolls. I ordered the lobster roll and it was delicious! It tasted super fresh and the roll had a nice soft crunch to it, all for $12.99 (their current market price). My brother came with me and ordered The Elm Park Sandwich, and it was huge and packed full of meat. We both added the platter for an additional $4 each which included fries, onion rings, and coleslaw. The beer-battered fries are amazing!!! They have a crunch on the outside but are soft on the inside. I would definitely recommend this place to my friends who visit from out of town. read more

the menus is huge and it is the first thing you notice when you walk through the door (ok, there was a HUGE Santa Claus statue in the doorway) and then you have to make a decision as to what you want, so many choices between sandwiches, meals, and assorted. Head spinning, reeling, finally a decision was made: Fish and chips. The wait was well worth it, no one walked in, so my friend and I marveled at the menu and decided when we come back the next time what to try (like the whole menu and maybe even their chowder) so, yes, I shall return! read more
