Did someone say Filipino Empanadas? Berkeley's Kuboba Spot did and with the 6-pack deal, I tried almost one of each. Since I wasn't eating beef that day, doubled up on the chicken adobo and longganisa omelette although the embudito (pork meatloaf) ended up my fave followed by the spicy curry potatoes. Guess I just have to go back especially since I signed up for their loyalty program. A box of 6 was enough for lunch for two and leftovers.
The empanadas here were better than expected. Yes, they have filipino flavors of fillings, but they also offer so much more, and most of it in stock even less than an hour before closing time this past Saturday. I absolutely appreciate this, as it makes them more reliable to have options I like when I visit. We got the spicy curry, cheeseburger, and pepperoni pizza empanadas, and they were a good size, with flaky buttery crusts, and quality ingredients. Each was seasoned perfectly, and the recipes were really good, no need for extra sauce (though they offer a variety on the side). Now I wanna come back to try more of their empanada flavors. The guava jasmine green tea was tasty but sweet, even at only 25% sweetness. And the place was cute and cozy, got a welcoming vibe and were able to find dine-in seating no problem. Staff was friendly and provided outstanding service too.
Was going to get 3 empanadas, ended up with 6 because why not. My favorite was the chicken adobo, it was meaty, savory and packed a ton of flavor. My second favorite was mango cheesecake, it was decadent and sweet enough with the glaze on top. If you can, you should try the other flavors depending on what you'd think you'd like but definitely include both of those ones. I got full with 3 and I can eat a lot so they're definitely filling. They also come with chili oil that packs a punch and some sweet n sour sauce that complements the empanadas. The mango wall drink was good with a great mango taste. The boba was nice and chewy. Service is friendly and very helpful. Inside is that not that big but it seems more of a takeout spot. The pandan and ube drink were also on my list but I couldn't get 3 drinks so I will have to come back later for those. Overall, great place for empanadas and a sweet drink. Go check them out!
Came here for the first time today with my son to try these empanadas that had unique Filipino inspired flavors and every single one was AMAZING! I also got their flavor of the month which happened to be vegetarian (a creamy mushroom and spinach flavor) that my husband devoured! We came here while we waited to get adjusted at the Joint down the block, so I guess I'll be back every time that I get adjusted! This place is a must try! Empanadas are very delicious and the staff is super friendly!
Loved the fact that I could order a winter melon tea (not a usual offering on a menu so I was excited to see it!) with coffee jelly, but the 25% sweet was sooo sweet. That was as low sugar as you could go in the online ordering. I also like the fact that they have Filipino empanadas here, though I was too full to partake in any.
I have been to Kuboba a few different times. I have enjoyed each visit. My mom and little sister both love this place as well. We usually order drinks and food items. The staff is very nice. Drinks and food items are always delicious.
The enpanadas are delicious and good sized, we bought extras to take home, the potato curry was my favorite and the macha milk tea. If you buy milk tea you can adjust the sugar level. Great service, clean and good ambiance.
I got their mango cheesecake empanada, and it was nice and warm when it was given to me. The empanada had a sugar glaze and was filled with mango puree and cream cheese. It was surprisingly not too sweet.

Both empanadas were super flavorful - personally, I loved trying the Mango Cheesecake, but probably pass it on my second order (a bit too much cream for me). Like others, I found that the 25% sweetness level was just right for the Mango boba - it was perfectly fresh and didn't sugar me out. The interior is kind of small, but well-decorated - seems like a great hang-out snack spot. I ordered on Snackpass - my food was delayed a couple minutes, but the owner was super super sweet. Absolutely love all the options and will definitely be back!
This spot was #1 on Yelp's top eats list in SF so I knew I HAD to try it!! I ordered 3 empanadas here: beef stew, chicken adobo, and spicy curry potatoes with peas. All 3 of them were delicious!! I loved the texture of the bread part itself and the flavors of the filling were so good. They also offer 2 sauces to have with the empanadas and they enhanced it even more. If you're an empanada fan, I recommend checking this spot out! The store itself is on the smaller end, but there are a few seats if you want to eat there. I coincidentally came when they were having a Yelp experience, which was cool, and I loved all the Yelp decor. Service was also friendly.

The buko pandan drink here is amazing! Great pandan flavor and comes with homemade pandan jelly. I usually go with 25% sweet, which is their standard regular sweetness level and it's perfect. I've tried their beef stew, spicy curry, pepperoni pizza, and mango cheesecake empanadas. My favorites are their beef and curry. Street parking only and can be limited depending on when you visit. There was no parking on during the afternoon weekend when I came. You can order at the register or you can order on your own through the kiosk.
Kuboba Spot is the spot for Filipino fusion drinks and baked goods in Berkeley! A Yelp event introduced me to this glorious local business that I couldn't be more than happy to support! The shop is a wonderful addition to Berkeley, away from the Cal boba shops. No WiFi but there are a few tables scattered inside and outside for customers to hang out or work at. Ordering is prompt with the option to order online, through the tablet, or in person. Being family-owned, every worker I've interacted with has been extremely friendly, helpful, and hardworking. I was craving boba and my sweet companion took us here for drinks. He loves taro and got the Taro with Fresh Ube Wall and House Boba while I, a mango lover, had the Mango with Fresh Mango Wall with Lychee Jelly. We both got our drinks with 25% sweetness and Oat Milk. I love that toppings are included in drink purchases as well as dairy alternatives. I will say that 25% is their baseline but is quite sweet. We both favored the mango as it was creamy and you could taste the sweet mango. I'm partial to their pandan but this is a great option. The Taro was stunning to look at and good with chewy boba but we felt like something was missing--it didn't go to waste though. You won't be disappointed with such friendly workers and delectable bites and sips at this family business. For Berkeley dwellers and fans of Filipino fusion cuisine, Kuboba Spot is a great option for a small bite. Located off of Telegraph Ave. there is metered parking out front but free residential parking in the neighborhood.
I had just wrapped up my visit to the dentist where I received a clean bill of health. So I decided to balance things out with a nice, sugary boba drink from Kuboba. Kuboba specializes in Filipino-inspired empanadas and boba drinks. And has a pretty nice variety of tasty boba flavors to choose from. I went with the Mango with Fresh Mango Wall and really enjoyed the fresh mango taste. Added some boba as an optional topping and was delighted to see that their boba toppings were fresh and had a great, chewy consistency to them. Service was nice, and the interior has some great decor that make for some great photo ops. Metered parking is available on Telegraph. read more
The empanadas were everything!!! super flaky, stuffed all the way through, and packed with flavor. I tried the chicken adobo, beef kaldereta, longanisa, spicy curry, cheeseburger, and mango cheesecake, and honestly... no skips. The savory ones were bold and comforting, and the mango cheesecake was the perfect sweet ending. Plus, the spot itself is cute and they even have a little kubo photo-op inside. Great food, great vibes, and definitely worth the stop. I'll 100% be back. read more
We were actually looking for a quick bite and boba after visiting Sports Basement and found this little gem very close by. We love to support small businesses. The inside is cozy and very cute. It has a little bamboo hut and bench inside that's perfect for photo ops. There are only a few tables inside, so we decided to have a seat and eat there. I ordered the six pack online and guessed what to order: 2 pepperoni pizza, 2 Beef Stew "Kaldereta", and 2 Longganisa Omelette empanadas. We also ordered boba drinks (wintermelon milk tea and the strawberry potchi). I recommend adjusting the sweetness. All of the empanadas tasted amazing, but my kiddo especially loved the pizza one, so we decided to order 3 more and then a cheeseburger one as well. I didn't have a favorite, but they all had very rich, authentic flavors and had a nice crisp to it. The owners (I think) were there and they were really kind and willing to answer any questions we had. We'll definitely be back to try the other flavors when we are in the area. read more

Attended a Yelp Elite event at the Kuboba Spot and I am so happy I did. The drinks are yummy, and the empanada are delicious! My fiancé ordered the Buko Pandan drink. It was a bit too sweet for my liking, but the flavor was spot on. The Tiger Sugar Cafe drink was strong in coffee flavor, but I enjoyed it. Not too sweet either. The empanadas are made in house. You'll see workers rolling the dough on the side. The empanadas are flaky and full of flavor. We tried a few of the flavors, but I'll definitely have to come back for more. The workers are nice and friendly, and the decor is fun. Can't wait to come back! read more
5/5 stars for the pandan coconut drink. What in the WORLD!!! So refreshing and not overly sweet. I only wish Kuboba was closer to the freeway; it's a bit of a treck on the local roads. Out of all the empanadas, my favorite was their spicy curry. Their empanadas are soft and fluffy and the curry sauce wasn't too overpowering. The other flavors - cheeseburger, beef stew, lumpia, were all just okay. read more
I have been seeing this place all over social media and have been wanting to come here for months!! I love the variety of specialty drinks and specifically have been waiting forever to try the pandan drink and Mango Cheesecake Empanada and both lived up the expectations. Their boba is extremely reasonably priced and I absolutely love that they don't charge extra for lactose-free options. In addition, the first topping you put in your drink is free! I was worried that the pandan drink would taste artificial and sweet but it wasn't at all! I loved the pandan jelly and got the recommended 25% sweetness level and it was still sweet but not overpowering. I also got the chicken adobo and mango cheesecake empanadas. The chicken adobo one came with chili oil! Both empanadas were so great but I particularly enjoyed the mango cheesecake one! I guess empanadas and boba do go together! read more

This place *oozes* Filipino-ness. Filipino staff lady with the staple buzz haircut, tropical straw bamboo bench hut, and staff being quite relieved when I told them that I didn't need the to-go bag, saving them one lol (Asians and their conservation of plastic bags). Also, the food here.....the kaldereta empanada is such a comfort food vibe!! The kaldereta filling reminds me a lot of the kaldereta served at Filipino fam parties. Very hearty. What's even more fantastic is the flakiness of the empanada. So soft and delicate! The mango cheesecake empanada is delicious as well; it's like an upgraded Toaster Strudel but packed with mango flavor. Wished that there was only mango in it though because the cheesecake filling part added a little too much richness to it (there's already a glaze on top of this empanada). Oh, and I can't forget about the buko pandan drink with homemade pandan jelly. *Refreshing!* I downed it super fast lol. The pandan jelly itself is alright; it has the same texture as that of grass jelly, which I'm an okay fan of. Friendly staff here. Overall definitely worth a visit if you want some Filipino food with a twist! read more
I'm so so excited I finally got to try this place and I was so happy to try their empanadas and drinks. I ordered their chicken adobo empanada and loved how buttery and flaky the crust was. The chicken was also really juicy and well seasoned. Their food was just delicious and i definitely want to come back to try more flavors. To wash it all down I got the pandan drink. My favorite thing about it was that it wasn't too sweet! (That's a huge compliment for Asian people!!) I got their normal sweetness and it was perfect. The place also seems to be family run and so it's always nice to support your local small businesses! read more
Super cute joint with alot of great food choices! There are monthly switch outs of flavors with a couple being mango cheesecake, pepperoni pizza, cheeseburger, and spicy curry potatoes with peas, etc. There are is lots of love put into these dishes as well when they are made, which shows through the flavors and the time it takes to make it! The empanadas take a bit to make, but they have great drinks to supplement. Around $6. I usually get the Jasmine Milk Tea, which is a freebie after buying alot of empanadas and it's pretty good. On the sweeter side with chewy boba, but it is overall pretty good! Their taro swirl milk tea is also super good! I love how you can taste the blended taro pieces and it is a very pretty drink. read more

Honestly these were some of the best empanadas I've ever tried. They were decently sized, nice and flaky on the outside and filled with a delicious and flavorful inside. I tried the beef stew and longganisa one and both were superb. We also tried the buko pandan drink and the tiger sugar latte and they were both very good and even though we got standard sweet, it was the perfect sweetness which I loved. First topping was also free which was cool. Service was super friendly right when we walked in, the workers would welcome us and give suggestions. The place was small but super cozy and cute. Parking was street parking only but luckily we found a spot pretty close by. Side note: The chili oil here is SOOOO good!!!! Will definitely be coming back to try the other flavors. read more

Came for the Buko Pandan with Pandan Jelly and ordered it with oat milk. I was introduced to this spot by a Yelp elite event and I'm so glad I came back. The Pandan is really delicious and different. The jelly is delicate and chewy too. The ladies are so nice and friendly. I explained my husband wasn't ordering anything because he only drinks boba with non flavored tea and they said they can do black or green tea for him. The shop is kept really clean including where the napkins and utensils are. Happy to keep supporting this small business! read more
Food: my partner and I tried four of their empanadas; the adobo, kalderetta, spicy curry, and cheeseburger. His fav was adobo, but I personally thought it was okay. My fav was the kalderetta (beef stew). Cheeseburger is definitely tasty but a little on the greasy side. Spicy curry was all right, neither of us really cared for it. But all to say we each had different opinions on the empanadas so try them all! They were so warm and crispy. The pandan drink was so good. 25% sweet was perfect. If you like coconut you'll love this drink. As a Filipino I love visiting a spot with actual good Filipino eats (Filipino food critic as someone who cooks Filipino food a lot haha) so not too much fusion, authentic flavors, good prices. And the interior is super cute! They have a kubo you can sit on (little bamboo house), a coloring table for kids, merch, etc... minimal seating inside and outside but I will definitely be back here and recommending people here because there aren't really Filipino food spots in Berkeley! read more
I don't know if I can love Kuboba Spot more than I already do. From the yummiest empanadas (mango cream cheese? Oh heck yes!) to the delicious taro ube wall boba tea (with oat milk for the dairy-free among us), the food & drinks are just fantastic. But throw in really sweet and fun staff and service, and a decor that just radiates love at you, and it's just a whole picture of joy and delight. I'm excited for my next visit! read more
This is our new favorite bubble tea place after being introduced to Kuboba Spot through a Yelp Elite event. Their house special milk teas are all great and their standard 25% sweetness level is really the right way to go, similar to a 75% sweetness level at most other places. Their empanadas are really what set them apart from other places. We've only had some of the savory ones but they have all been incredible and are served with a side sweet chili sauce. Most recently they had a buko-pandan dessert special that we were able to get and enjoyed for several days after. Since they are a little bit further from campus parking is easier, either street parking right in front or on one of the side streets. Staff is always super friendly and make for an even better experience. read more
Cute hole-in-the-wall spot for very sweet service and some really delicious empanadas. We came a little later around 3 when some of their more popular empanadas had sold out, but got to try the beef stew and mango cheesecake empanadas. Both were wonderfully crunchy, without the overly doughy texture that empanadas can occasionally have. The beef stew came with both a chili oil and sweet chili sauce on the side and was savory and rich, and the mango cheesecake actually came glazed and was reminiscent of a more satisfying jelly donut. Sweet spot for small snacks! I typically get the pandan latte with boba. I do wish it had a stronger flavor so I recommend asking for extra pandan flavor if you love it like I do! All of their empanadas taste amazing - I love the potato curry and the mango cheesecake. They're packed with flavors, filling, and for a great price. Service is always very friendly. Seating is limited since it's a smaller dining area but people are on the go so it's never been an issue. I've watched their business grow over the years and I'm happy to see them thrive! read more

Found this place from an IG blogger from the bay. Came here mainly for the banana pudding empanada and that did not disappoint. Wish I had taken a bite of it when it came out hot but it was delish nonetheless. Make sure to get this as this is just the flavor of the month. I also got the mango cheesecake and that kind of reminded me of a mango peach pie from Jollibee. Anyway, when I got there I noticed there was a bit of a wait so I ordered from their kiosk. Since this is quite a distant from me, I decided to order one each of their savory empanadas. I ordered the beef Kaldereta, chicken adobo, emputido, pizza, longanisa. I would say this took a really long time to get my order. I waited about 50 mins for my order. After having already waiting 25 mins or so, they then put a sign up saying there is a 30 min wait for orders. Wish I had know this prior to ordering. Overall, we enjoyed the sweet empanadas (banana pudding and mango cheesecake) and the only savory empanada that stood out was the beef Kaldereta. read more

Got a 6 pack of empanadas and two drinks. Almost didn't try this place because I was having trouble stomaching the $5+/empanada price, but their empanadas are significantly larger than your typical size and the flavors are definitely unique and worth a visit (or two). The staff working the counter were all friendly and accomodating and I'm looking forward to going back. Rating of each item below. With so many boba places within a few blocks on campus, I always wanted to go somewhere that had a special twist. Heard about this place from a few friends and decided to visit! A little on the pricier end, but worth it in my opinion for unique options that taste delicious. Decided to treat my friend to a drink and an empanada so they ordered the taro with fresh ube on the walls of the cup and a sweet mango cheesecake empanada. I went for a Buko pandan (young coconut) drink with pandan jelly and a savory kaldereta (beef stew) empanada. The service was quick and straight forward. The staff were nice and had everything boxed & ready to go, still warm (except the cold drinks). They don't have much seating and are really more of a grab & go kind of place. Filipino style boba drinks aren't really found a lot of places, so I'm glad Kuboba is around to fill that niche! Will probably treat myself to this every so often. read more

Put in an order via the website. I planned to arrive right when the site said the order would be ready. While the store is situated along Telegraph, parking was plentiful along side streets. Everything was ready when I arrived. I drove everything back to my partner's place. Everything was tasty. The empanada and the chili oil were highlights. The Guava Jasmine tea was tasty, but light in flavor. It was good, but I think I would get what my partner got: Strawberry Potchi. I am not someone who usually likes strawberry boba drinks, but I enjoyed this one. It wasn't too sweet and the strawberry flavor worked (for me). The standard sweetness is 25%, and the drinks were nicely sweetened (I usually order 75% sweetness at other spots). I look forward to going again! read more

My first time here. I don't live by but happened to be around. I LOVED IT!!! I've got their Mango wall with mango popping and it was so good! The 25% of sweetness was on point for my taste. The service was friendly. Ambiance was cute and really wanted to take a picture but there were people sitting around so i got shy a little bit lol. The location is kinda far from where i live but i promise you to return!!! Keep up the good job, guys! Thanks! read more
