So 5 stars for what is essentially airport food and more expensive than it should be because at Ku Va i don't mind ! the environment is always enjoyable. I've eaten here for the 2nd time months apart and the servers are upbeat and polite! There's always seating and they let you stay eat and leave when you're ready for your flight. I had ceviche here and vaca frita and the portions are always generous and actually really delicious! Stick to the menu and you should be fine staying under $30. Order the 'specials' and that's where they catch you! I will return and recommend it read more

Quite possible the best food we have ever eaten in an aiport. We were waiting in terminal D nearly all day for an evening flight and loaded up on Lechon y maduros prior to departure. I had a three hour layover so decided to try something new in the airport. This particular restaurant is family owned and located in gate D 19. I got the Lechon Asada and one passionfruit Mojito. Be aware that you are charged $15 for Bacardi and one dollar for the Mojito as well as one dollar for the passionfruit. The Mojito was very tasty nonetheless. Lechon asado........ chef's kiss. It has onions in it that are noticeable so if you are not a fan of onions dont order or ask if it can be removed. It also came with black beans ,fry plantains, and rice. I ask for ketchup just because I like that taste on fried pork. Four stars because service was a little slow, although I received my food quickly before the rush came in. When the rush came in, there was only one person on the floor, taking orders, cashing and seating persons. Seems that they needed more help which would've made the experience better especially when you're trying to catch your flight. You don't want to miss that. read more

We stopped here to grab a quick lunch before our flight. This is a nice-looking airport restaurant and looks clean with decent comfortable furniture. My daughter ordered the Vaca Frita to go. She said they gave her a generous portion, and it was delicious! The bill with tip was $23. Javier was the server, and he was friendly and attentive. No complaints here. We will keep this place in mind for future travels via the airport, concourse D. read more

DO NOT RECOMMEND, DECEPTIVE OPERATIONS!!! When you get the bill there is an automatic 18% gratuity. When challenged they say it is on the menu but it is not on the specialty menu. The server had to point it out as it is in small print and almost imperceivable ink on the full menu. See picture. When I asked for the management they said there is nothing they can do, it is required by the airport, it's not their fault. I told him it is their fault as the server should tell patrons and they are the ones that print the menu. By the way, I checked a couple of other restaurants and they did not do the forced gratuity or have anything on their menu. read more

No prices on the drink menu, but we decided to split one mojito. $35!! The food was solid, but we were stunned to pay nearly half our total bill for two waters and one cocktail. I have eaten at this restaurant probably 30 times since it opened. The food is usually ok, but today the chicken was about as tender as rubber, and the onions were as thin as paper and were like trying to eat tape. But one thing that has been consistent is the service is horrendous. Even when they only have a few tables occupied, the staff stands around and talks, and ignores you. Stopped in here for a quick bite to eat on a layover, I was very impressed with this place. I ordered the media noche sandwich (a Cuban sandwich on egg loaf bread), and my girlfriend ordered the pork chops. We were both very impressed with our meals. The sandwich was a little pricey at $14, but it's an airport, what do you expect. My girlfriends pork chops came in right around $17, a lot of food. My side item was boiled yuka, extremely delicious and a very good portion size. Would highly recommend stopping in here on your next MIA airport layover. For drink choices, we both went with the guava margaritas (since we just left Mexico and wanted to stretch the vacation out one more meal). They were both very delicious. They did come out to be right around $13 each, so be careful not to wring the tab up to much since drink prices aren't listed on the menu. Also side note, 15% gratuity is included! We gave a few extra dollars since we are good tippers, but be sure not to overtip! I will be back, and I will probably order the same exact thing. It's a must try for Cuban sandwich lovers. read more

Stay away, you never expect good service and high quality food in an airport restaurant, but this is the worst experience I have ever had, the service could not be worse and food seems like it was brought from the supermarket and just warmed-up to be served, not to mention that it is pricey for what you get. They only had one bar tender taking care of the entire place and she had a very bad attitude, if you dared to ask another employee for something, she would look at you in the eye and say "it is with me", but then would not come back to confirm what you needed, for just two appetizers and a couple of drinks, they took more than half an hour to take care of us, you would think that in an airport they are prompt to serve you. The funny thing is that we overheard the manager talking to a waiter, saying "hurry-up, you have a pilot on table XX", which means that if you are a pilot, you might have better chances of at least getting better service, the food is the same bad food, but they will be efficient to serve you, I guess because pilots can be recurrent customers, while the rest of us are just passengers..... read more

The food was excellent. However, the service was sub-standard. Our waiter never told us his name. He never checked on us to ask if we needed anything. He never refilled our water glass. He gave us the check without asking if we wanted anything else. We had to let him that we wanted another rounds of drinks. When he came to the table for the check, he asked if we needed change, to which we responded 'no'. After counting the money, he returned to the table to let us know that we should have tipped him 18% or more ( forgot to mention that he had underlined the suggested tip amounts on the check). This was the most he ever talked to us. My sister asked him if he was aware that the poor tip reflected the poor service and recapped his poor job. Instead of apologizing, his attitude got worse. The final insult came as we left the establishment. When we left the hostess did not wish us a good day, thank us, or tell us to have a safe trip. She said nothing until I acknowledged her. So sad that such great food was accompanied by such poor service. read more

My husband had a two star lunch and I had a four star lunch. The Cuban sandwich was very dry, like have something to drink after each bite dry. No mustard and quite flat. Bread was almost like cracker. I can't remember the name of the pork dinner I had. It was number 6 on the menu and was delicious tender juicy pork with sautéed onions. The waiter's recommendation. There was a gratuity already added to the bill even though it said nothing about that on the menu. The cocktail was $14 and the beer $7. They do have a take out cafe attached to the restaurant. I would go that route but skip the Cuban or try it on different bread which is an option. read more

Beware of obscene water prices! They have diverse menu and good food. I had the Cuban sandwich (a childhood favorite of mine) and my wife had the fish and chips. Both were good, but I did not receive mustard on my sandwich--though it was described as having it on the menu. Aside from that I would say that the Cuban was pretty authentic, although did not have much of the citrus flavor that properly marinated pork should have. Service was sub par. When we walked up our waiter was leaning against the hostess station with his back to us and it wasn't until another employee motioned to him that he turned around and greeted us. This pretty mush set the tone for the service during this meal. We ordered water and were brought two bottles of water. We thought that was strange, but having never been here before and not having been offered any water options, we assumed that was just what they served. Imagine our surprise when we saw a $12 charge for water on our bill! After that we noticed many other patrons who were drinking regular tap water, which is what we would have chosen had we been given the choice. Our waiter was taking way too long to come back and I didn't have time to argue the charge, so we paid and left--but we will not come back next time we're in this airport. read more
