It's a good day when you can finally get your hands on these ice creams. I had been seeing them all over IG and heard how quickly they sell out. I tried twice before and no luck. They went quicker than a Sat shoe release and I buy lots of shoes. I randomly checked my email one day and was notified they were in stock so off to the website I go to snag some ice cream. I was expecting flavors to be sold out but was so surprised to see they weren't. I bought a Nasi lemak, strawberry crunch cake, rose milk tea, and blueberry basil lemon. All very good. Not overly sweet which I loveeee. Flavors are creative and very unique -Nasi Lemak: 4/5 surprising really good. Can't really taste the coconut as the peanut flavor is a tad stronger but the pandan is definitely there. Very subtle and not overpowering. I'm indifferent about the peanut flavor and if given the option would use less since it does kind of drown out other flavors. Overall really delicious though! -Strawberry Crunch Cake: 4/5 reminds me a lot of strawberry cheesecake. There is chunks of cake mixed into the ice cream and it's really nice. I was hoping it was going to be like the strawberry shortcake but still not disappointed. -Rose Milk Tea: 2/5 really really strong. I really enjoy lavender and thought I'd enjoy rose just as much. I do love the pieces of edible rose pedals but it's a tad sweet for me and so fragrant that it reminds me of potpourri. It's definitely not something I want to be reminded of when having ice cream. It's a great flavor for someone that enjoys rose but I will definitely pass on this next time. -Blueberry Basil Lemon: 5/5 this is my absolute favorite! I love blueberry, basil, and lemon all as separate flavors. I'm quite fond of them to say the least so when I saw that there was a flavor with all of these combine. I was very intrigued, it was like it was specially made for me haha. Very different and I'm surprise how well they all work together. Wish the lemon flavor was more incorporate in the ice cream instead of just in the middle but regardless it's delicious and I'll be savoring it until I finish the pint. While the ice cream are a bit on the pricier side at $14 a pop. I'm all about supporting local business and really happy I got to try some :) I'll probably try to buy other flavors in the future but I think I've satisfied my curiosity for the time being. read more

I am surprised this ice cream place flew under my radar for so long, as it has gained a lot of popularity in IG, currently at 6k followers, and some of the flavors are very quickly sold out upon launching a week before. You place an order starting the Sunday before to be picked up anytime 1-3pm the following Sunday at The Station Coffee shop next to the Beacon Hill light rail station, so I did precisely that last week to try to Rose Milk Tea and Ube Marshmallow flavors. At $14 a pint (phew tax included!), it is quite pricey though these are local and Kryse herself makes the ice cream in small batches. It is definitely in line with premium ice cream, with a nice complex mix of flavors, some of them quite innovative. Rose Milk Tea - 3/5 I love how they have rose petals actually mixed in, and the flavor is quite fragrant. However, the batch of ice cream for this is a bit powdery and flaky, so it wasn't smooth like it should be. This ice cream was also a bit too sweet for me. Ube Marshmallow - 5/5 Anything with ube is great, but this ice cream flavor takes it up a notch! Although I placed the order for this apparently hours after they launched the upcoming week's orders, this flavor was not sold out, but it instantly sold out this week for the upcoming week. The marshmallow has a nice roasted flavor that pairs really well with the ube itself. It is also not as sweet as the Rose Milk Tea - "not too sweet" my favorite level of sweetness. I will likely prepare in advance and order these ice cream again, as the flavors seem to be rotating quite often, though I will reserve it for celebrations and special occasions as the prices are a bit high to treat this as a "stress-eat" ice cream. read more

I first tried Kryse Martin's handcrafted ice cream at respective former businesses, Happy Grillmore and Central District Ice Cream. Seems such premium ice cream is elusive and a fond memory like Kurt Farm Shop. I was reconnected to Kryse Handcrafted Ice Cream back in January 2021 by fellow Yelp and Instagram extraordinnaire, Wendy K. However, trying to nail a pint remained elusive as innovative flavors were often sold out. Wendy contacted me and mentioned she picked up an extra pint for me. Total score for both me and The Homie. I ended up making a trade with a half dozen cookies from Bell's Cookie for this prized pint of Mint Mojito. Other sold out flavors on Kryse's ordering site (https://kryse.squarespace.com) included: Ube Cheesecake, Fruity Pebz, Pineapple Li Hung Mui, and Peanut Butter & Jam ($14 per pint). The site cuurently also has gift cards and limited edition T shirts for sale. The Homie and I each had a modest scoop each (4/8/21)....wow, love the texture and multifaceted flavor! Beginning of October 2020 Kryse of the e dearly missed Central District Ice Cream started doing making small batches of her ice cream. Seattle responded selling out her ice cream every week. You pre order Sunday for pick up the following Sunday at Station coffee on Beacon Hill. Because I'm usually at my dad's on the weekend and it's closer I've gone more times than I went to CD Ice Cream. Some OfG flavors have returned and new ones created with local chefs or influencers like fellow Yelp Elites Nelson L and Bryan K. Make sure to set an alarm if you're interested in purchasing one of these unique flavors they sell out quickly and usually drop around 9am, if you can't pick up the following week I believe she hold it for another week but my guess is you need to let her know. My first flavor to try was from an Instagram Giveaway and happen to be Nelson's flavor collaboration. Orange Blossom Creamsicle: Satsuma orange + cardamom spiced ice creams swirled. I don't usually like fruity creamy stuff but this was so well balanced. Very Satsuma forward, so refreshing. My first actual purchase was a pint Ube Brulee and the Miso Caramel. Most recent purchases were my favorites. The Rootbeer Float was very nostalgic and I don't understand why more people don't make this flavor. Reminded me of my high school day visits to Patchwork's in the Rainier Beach Neighborhood. Last week I picked up the Mint Mojito made with Philz Coffee Tesora blend in San Francisco and fresh mint. A tribute to their Philz popular specialty drink Mint Mojito. The coffee and fresh mint is a perfect blend, really makes me want to try the actual mint mojito next time I'm in SF. I ordered two pints: hojicha pandan and strawberry lime lychee. Both were so smooth and not sickeningly sweet. Surprisingly I preferred the strawberry lime lychee. It was so light and lovely and refreshing. You have to order on Sunday for pickup the following Sunday. Some flavors sell out fast, so don't wait too long to place an order. I would absolutely order more pints. read more

Its alright?? Its not amazing, and i woudln't hoarde it....But its also not groundbreaking and something craveable?? Honestly im not really sure why people are raving over the ice cream. Its fire theres more representation, but theres literally nothing "special" about this Ice Cream. This review is for the Rainbow Sherbet, but it wasn't even Sherbet??? Sherbet is supposed to be more fruit less cream. What i ended up getting, was a ice cream with small blended fruit in it. I mean that "sounds" nice, and maybe they used "quality" fruit. But if you cant "follow" "instructions" on like certain food items, it disqualifies it from being said food item. Therefore, this "Sherbet" honestly was a 0/5. The Ice cream was like a 2/5. Maybe the more "traditional" flavors like the Mint Melon would be better, or even the Halo Halo......But again if I WANT THAT, Id go to a spot selling shaved Ice. UPDATE: IF you cant make what you're saying your making, you don't deserve "points" for trying. You also don't deserve a point for "doing good" in the community. This sherbet sucked, and I was beyond disappointed that the owner didn't try and use something other than her ice cream base that I'm assuming she thinks is the "perfect" ratio for this so called sherbet. read more
