I absolutely love this restaurant. Their sushi is always so good. I usually order takeout, but today I decided to eat inside and it was such a great experience. I ordered the Krung Thai Combination Appetizer, which came with chicken satay, crab Rangoon, coconut shrimp, and dumplings. All of them were fantastic. We also got the Las Vegas sushi roll, which is one of my favorites. I love the fried onions they put on top because it adds the perfect crunch and flavor. The service here is always friendly and the prices are very reasonable for the quality you get. The ambiance is casual and comfortable with plenty of space to dine in. I definitely recommend Krung Thai for great sushi and appetizers. I haven't tried their Thai dishes yet because I love their sushi so much I just can't pass it up. read more

Was looking for something nice and hot and perfect for a cold weather besides pho and ramen, and stumbled upon this gem tucked in by W. state st kind of across Walmart and Albertsons. I ordered the duck soup with rice noodles and that was delicious. My husband ordered their Thai rice noodle soup with beef. Both soup were good, definitely something different, and they were generous with their meats!!! The chicken satay was also amazing. The staff were very welcoming and kind! I ordered take away so I did not stay to dine in but it appeared to be a spacious clean restaurant. I ordered Tom Yum soup and it was a large portion. It had a great flavor and I would go back to get this soup again. I ordered medium spice level and thought it was a good amount of spice but not too spicy! If you do not like spicy at all do not get the medium spice. The only thing I didn't care too much for was the soup was $16 and I thought it was a pit pricy and there are far too many options on the menu. We did a pick up today of Penang Curry and the caramelized ginger chicken. Outstanding! The panang was spot on. The delicious flavor of the coconut milk, the spices, the basil, the peppers, the chicken, the Kiefer and basil leaves. Delicious!!! I finally got to try this place! The servers were all really nice. They were pretty patient with us since I was there with an old friend catching up. I ordered the yellow curry with tofu. It was ok, I did enjoy the bigger peices of tofu in the dish. Yellow curry from Thai Basil is still my favorite and they have set the bar pretty high for other yellow curries out there. Late 2022 opened Garden City offshoot of Nampa located mothership by the same name, this is another in the growing number of middling Thai food restaurants in the Treasure Valley serving people who may have had only this kind of 'stepped down' version of Thai food as reference point. (If you're interested in why marginal Thai food places seem to be springing up like daisies you might read the Food & Wine published article I'll link at the end of my comments.) Having enjoyed great Thai food in other cities and at two places here in Boise which are truly excellent and very good respectively, my taste buds want to groan in dismay about places like this one. THE SPACE: Reclaimed from a Japanese restaurant and oddly arranged in that you enter from front door into a space that seems sort take out work area counter with kitchen to the left of it with dining room to the right. The dining space is lighter and brighter than you might expect and on the day of our visit was sparkling clean. Red vinyl booths and standard height table seating were nicely spread out so comfortable for elbow room. SERVICE: Our server was friendly and efficient. FOOD: Extensive dinner menu and of the multi-oversized laminated page type that makes one suspect the kitchen struggles to get it all done. They have separate lunch menu and while we seldom order from lunch menus at Thai food places because that is when the food gets most ratcheted down for general American diner tastes, we're glad we went for lunch here as it gave us a chance to try three items (lunch items $9.95) in small enough portions to not have take away. We sampled enough to evaluate the food fit for us and it is one and done. Panang curry, one of our fav dishes, was non descript, the spicy noodles were not and although we almost never choose pad Thai we will sometimes try it for our first visit to a Thai place as a benchmark dish (the sort of equivalent of ordering spaghetti with marinara in an Italian eatery). We wished we had left it off our order because it was so bland and oily that we left most of it. All of the vegetables in all dishes were as if they came out of a frozen foods bag sourced from the local Chef's Store restaurant supply; that is nothing appeared kitchen cut. As for the curry, I can do a better job of this at home with a jar of Thai & True Panang Curry Paste (really...a family brand out of Portland). PARKING: Odd set up for parking as there are only a handful'ish at the front door and the remainder in a parking lot associated with other business in the back. Looked like there might be a door in the back of the restaurant when we drove past that lot on our way out but I couldn't tell if it was service entrance to kitchen or customer entry. ACCESSIBILITY: One or two marked accessible parking spots in front. All on one floor inside. Standard height tables and booths. Didn't check loo. I am Thai as well as a restaurant owner, so I know my stuff... I had a great experience at Krung Thai! The service was friendly and attentive from the moment I walked in. The staff made me feel welcome and checked in just the right amount throughout the meal. I ordered the chicken pad Thai, and it was absolutely delicious--perfectly balanced flavors, tender chicken, and just the right amount of spice. The noodles were cooked perfectly, and the portion was generous without being overwhelming. Definitely a spot I'll return to. If you love Thai food (or even Chinese since their cuisine is very similar), this is the place to go! The food is absolutely delicious and in such huge portions it's a 100% guarantee you'll be taking leftovers home. The staff is very friendly and provides excellent service with no problems at all. The restaurant is very beautiful with interesting Thai decorations all around that it really gives off a unique vibe. Just like the decorations, the dishware is absolutely beautiful and really gives that sense of Thai culture. Some plates even look like a swan taking off!! Talk about beauty!!! Their summer drinks all come with handmade boba and this was my first time ever trying boba, and next time I see boba, I'm definitely going for it! So very yummy and it just pops in your mouth! No loud music plays like most restaurants, so you definitely don't need to worry about that. The tables are huge with very comfy seating (if you get a booth). Overall not a great experience. Food was okay but the prices were astronomical for what you got. An additional $3 to add just a couple pieces of broccoli to a dish. $4 for a small bottle of apple juice and $8 for frozen chicken nuggets for our son. Service was also just okay. Definetly some of the better Thai food I have come across in the Treasure Valley. I love how friendly the staff is here. The food is better than average and presented well. The location offers plenty of parking and other businesses surround it for a one stop shop visit. My dining partner ordered one of the Thai iced teas and said that, while tasty, it wasn't anything to write home about. We also ordered the appetizer sampler platter. I love this place. They opened up about a month ago, been several times. Opened and operated by the same family that runs the Krung Thai in Nampa, so the are related, literally. The sushi is great, the Thai is authentic. I love getting flavors that aren't typical same-ol-same. Service gets hectic on a busy night. I can understand and am patient with that. Others might be annoyed. I think it's part of a new opening. They have more staff now then they did two weeks ago. Hopefully that helps. I plan on frequenting this place. read more

BEST SUSHI IN THE ENTIRE WORLD! Don't walk..run! The service is very good and the people are extremely nice and helpful. The restaurant is always clean when we go there and the booth seats are very comfortable. The sushi is always so so good and hits the spot, and my mom who doesn't like sushi gets the pad thai noodles and other Thai dishes. I'm not quite sure why this place doesn't have better reviews. The food is really good - I ordered the panang curry with an appetizer of roti (basically fry bread with a yellow curry sauce). Both were excellent. The flavors were robust and authentic, and there was just enough spice to have a bit of a kick without being overpowering. The service was also good. It seems to be a small, family run operation and our server was gracious and attentive. They also have sushi - I can't speak to that. Keep in mind that this is first and foremost a Thai restaurant, so sushi may not be the safest choice. read more

Good food but WOW! IT'S SPICY! I really love Thai food ever since I was in Bangkok years ago. I like my spiciness hot by American standards and medium by Thai standards. We ordered for pickup the coconut soup and a curry. They asked how spicy to make it on a scale of 1 to 10 and I said six. What we got was 6 on a 5 point scale. At home I added a can of coconut milk and even then could barely eat it with the heat. My wife could only take a few bites even though coconut soup is her favorite. The flavors were otherwise very good so I would come again but ask for nothing over a 3 for myself and 2 for my wife. read more

This was my first time experience, maybe we got unlucky due to our "ticket getting stuck" - that part is understandable and it happens. What ISN'T excuseable was how we were jerked around. Came in when the place had maybe 6 groups. Not very busy. 45 minutes after taking our order (noticing two groups that came in, ordered, ate, paid, and left) I finally went to the staff and asked how long the order would be. They said that "your order is coming out right now" and that took another 20 minutes before the poorly cooked (they definitely undercooked the food to get it to us "faster"). The pad thai noodles were completely rubbery and impossible to chew and swallow, dish was swimming in sauce. They also forgot one of our appetizers, when they finally returned with the appetizer (15 minutes after receiving the poorly made entree) I explained that we had been waiting for a long time to get our food and wanted to know if we would at least get a discount on the long wait. We were told that we would. They said they would send someone to talk to us. Another 15 minutes and 4 more patron groups later, one of the staff came to our table and said "okay, complain." They only removed the entrees (that we didn't eat) from our bill. No discount applied. No apologies. Just "okay, complain." I understand that ticket issues can happen in a restaurant, but that was plain TERRIBLE service on their end, when these errors and delays kept stacking. I wasted almost 2 hours in this restaurant, just to go home hungry. The sushi roll and spring rolls were pretty good. The rest of the experience was completely trash, and not due to uncontrollable technical issues - but the complete LACK of any humility or attempts at halfway decent customer service. This is the place for great tasting Thai food in the treasure valley, period! We have been to Krung Thai a few times now and the taste and the consistency make this a great Thai restaurant to check out. Normally having Thai and sushi together under one restaurant would seem it would be hard to be good at both. I was surprise by the sushi, very fresh, and good size portions. Doing a quick review after our first visit. I got a delicious pad Thai. Perfect seasoning and perfect noodle firmness. My wife got a white noodle dish that had fresh taste and Al dente vegetables. The staff was very welcoming into the restaurant and although the restaurant was packed they were very friendly and happy to serve. My 2 and 4 year old came in for lunch today and they took such great care of us! Our food came quickly (we were the only ones in there at 11am although more came as we ate) and we got two lunch specials which we enjoyed a lot. She didn't know the menu at all. We knew we were not getting what we asked for but oh well it will be fun to see. We are adventurous. Everything started good. We got half of what we ordered.
