The staff were very welcoming and kind! I ordered take away so I did not stay to dine in but it appeared to be a spacious clean restaurant. I ordered Tom Yum soup and it was a large portion. It had a great flavor and I would go back to get this soup again. I ordered medium spice level and thought it was a good amount of spice but not too spicy! If you do not like spicy at all do not get the medium spice. The only thing I didn't care too much for was the soup was $16 and I thought it was a pit pricy and there are far too many options on the menu. I would go back to try a few more things though.

We love this place! Friendly staff and great healthy fresh foods! The mango boba looks and tastes way better than the picture on the menu :)

Wow...Boise...you have an incredibly delicious, true Thai restaurant in Krung Thai! We have searched many Thai places and this place is authentic. We did a pick up today of Penang Curry and the caramelized ginger chicken. Outstanding! The panang was spot on. The delicious flavor of the coconut milk, the spices, the basil, the peppers, the chicken, the Kiefer and basil leaves. Delicious!!! The ginger chicken was so flavorful, with lots of caramelized shredded ginger, chicken and veggies - carrots, baby corn, peppers, mushrooms, onions and celery. Deliciousness!! So impressed. We are foodies with a flare for culinary excellence - good quality food that's made well, and tastes delicious...where you cannot wait to return!

I finally got to try this place! The servers were all really nice. They were pretty patient with us since I was there with an old friend catching up. I ordered the yellow curry with tofu. It was ok, I did enjoy the bigger peices of tofu in the dish. Yellow curry from Thai Basil is still my favorite and they have set the bar pretty high for other yellow curries out there. Looking forward to trying other dishes. It's nice to have a Thai restaurant on our end of town.

Late 2022 opened Garden City offshoot of Nampa located mothership by the same name, this is another in the growing number of middling Thai food restaurants in the Treasure Valley serving people who may have had only this kind of 'stepped down' version of Thai food as reference point. (If you're interested in why marginal Thai food places seem to be springing up like daisies you might read the Food & Wine published article I'll link at the end of my comments.) Having enjoyed great Thai food in other cities and at two places here in Boise which are truly excellent and very good respectively, my taste buds want to groan in dismay about places like this one. THE SPACE: Reclaimed from a Japanese restaurant and oddly arranged in that you enter from front door into a space that seems sort take out work area counter with kitchen to the left of it with dining room to the right. The dining space is lighter and brighter than you might expect and on the day of our visit was sparkling clean. Red vinyl booths and standard height table seating were nicely spread out so comfortable for elbow room. SERVICE: Our server was friendly and efficient. FOOD: Extensive dinner menu and of the multi-oversized laminated page type that makes one suspect the kitchen struggles to get it all done. They have separate lunch menu and while we seldom order from lunch menus at Thai food places because that is when the food gets most ratcheted down for general American diner tastes, we're glad we went for lunch here as it gave us a chance to try three items (lunch items $9.95) in small enough portions to not have take away. We sampled enough to evaluate the food fit for us and it is one and done. Panang curry, one of our fav dishes, was non descript, the spicy noodles were not and although we almost never choose pad Thai we will sometimes try it for our first visit to a Thai place as a benchmark dish (the sort of equivalent of ordering spaghetti with marinara in an Italian eatery). We wished we had left it off our order because it was so bland and oily that we left most of it. All of the vegetables in all dishes were as if they came out of a frozen foods bag sourced from the local Chef's Store restaurant supply; that is nothing appeared kitchen cut. As for the curry, I can do a better job of this at home with a jar of Thai & True Panang Curry Paste (really...a family brand out of Portland). PARKING: Odd set up for parking as there are only a handful'ish at the front door and the remainder in a parking lot associated with other business in the back. Looked like there might be a door in the back of the restaurant when we drove past that lot on our way out but I couldn't tell if it was service entrance to kitchen or customer entry. ACCESSIBILITY: One or two marked accessible parking spots in front. All on one floor inside. Standard height tables and booths. Didn't check loo. WHY ARE THERE SO MANY MUNDANE THAI PLACES POPPING UP: See Food & Wine article: https://www.foodandwine.com/why-are-there-so-many-thai-restaurants-7104115 THAI FOOD OPTIONS THAT WORK FOR US: Nahm Thai & Burmese is as outstanding as any we've enjoyed anywhere. Boise Thai Noodle House is also very good. And when it is "on" (alas, sometimes it is "off" so inconsistent), Mai Tai can be a good choice for dishes like curries.

My husband is pretty classic and just got a cheese pizza. He wanted to do half and half but it wasn't an option. One of the cons of ordering off a kiosk instead of a person. The pizza was handed to us right from the oven. Piping hot! That baby was loaded with cheese. Not one dry spot on the pizza! It did cool a bit by the time we got home but the cheese pull was still there! For a grocery store pizza, it's actually pretty good! You can feel the discount vibe in places - bag your own groceries- but overall it's a higher class discount market. Preferred items that beat out competitors - sushi, fried chicken, deli cheeses selection, premade pizza to bake at home, and bakery breads and bagels baked in store. I prefer their fresh baked bagels to any speciality bagel store. Items lacking - deli sliced meats not great and lack of cake offerings, plus the packaged bakery baked sweets not that great. Lower selection of some item variety but not that many items I cannot find. Love the produce area, good quality and prices. Paper towels are my fav, price is so low! Staples are cheaper here (canned, jars, dry items like pasta, oatmeal, peanut butter, etc.) than anywhere else. Great selection of grab and go meals at excellent prices. Prices have been terrible on eggs here lately. Watch signs for a price for 1 box of eggs but in small print they charge much more for the 2nd or more box of eggs the same size. The prices vary so watch labels and ads for deals.

If you are looking for the absolute WORST sushi experience in the entire Treasure Valley,…read morecongratulations, you found it. I have never dealt with such atrocious service & their Sushi was subpar at best & that's being generous. Right out of the gate, it was a total disaster. The waitress brought absolutely nothing to the table--no utensils, no ginger, no wasabi, nothing. You know, the standard basics that literally every other sushi joint on the planet drops off on autopilot? We had to literally request every single item just to physically eat our meal. Then came the food--or whatever you want to call it. I specifically asked if I could swap tuna for yellowtail and asked about getting what I actually liked instead of just settling for "chef's choice." They completely ignored me & brought the exact opposite of what I ordered. Nothing we got was correct. My guest ordered a lobster and fish roll, and they handed her a plate of literal, unidentifiable mush. There were no actual pieces of fish or lobster to be found anywhere in it. Just mush. And the scam they pulled with the ikura was unbelievable. I ordered two portions, which is supposed to be four pieces total, which again is commonly standard at any other Sushi restaurant. Instead, they brought out two pieces. When I pointed it out, the manager actually came over to our table to argue with me, insisting I was going to be charged full price for half the food. Literally $5ea for 1 piece of Sashimi that tasted like shit. Outside of the painfully incompetent service and the manager's garbage attitude, the fish had no flavor, They didn't even bring out all the food we ordered, but we were so fed up and disgusted by that point that we just paid the bill and walked out. I don't know if this is how they run their business every single day, but it was bad enough to warrant this warning. There are plenty of incredible sushi spots around here. Do not waste your time or your money at this absolute trainwreck of a restaurant. I guarantee I will never step foot in this place again.

So of course we made new plans, made sure our schedules are were open so we can snag a meal after a round of coffee. Today was that day! I did check out the menu online the night before. I like to see what they have and what their menu entails. The red curry coconut noodles really caught by eye! Noodles, broth, curry!?! 3 of my favorite things in a bowl! So,I went to the food truck feeling 100% in my food choice. Well, the red curry noodles were not an option so I had to look over the menu again. Total bummer since I had my heart and stomach set on it. After reading the menu board over and over again and it was still early enough that ordering breakfast wasn't weird, I decided on the Croque madame. Grilled ham and cheese with an egg, it sounded good. My sandwich did not look like it came out of a food truck. It also doesn't look like it should be in a to go container. My sandwich was a work of art! The egg was cooked perfectly. The fondue sauce was snow white. The pieces of cilantro added a beautiful color to it and was nicely sprinkled all over. It was just too pretty to eat! This sandwich is messy so the fork and knife that was provided for me was used! The bread was very soft and fresh! It toasted and buttery. There was so much ham! It made the sandwich very hearty. The egg yolk was runny and jammy. The cheese fondue was rich and savory. The heirloom tomatoes added a nice freshness to the sandwich. All together it was a very thick sammy. All the flavors were fantastic but it did get overwhelming to eat after few bites. I enjoyed the fondue but it was a lot for me. The fondue is very rich and you add all the other elements and it gets to be too much. If I order this again, I'll probably order it without the fondue. There's already cheese in the sandwich so it was overwhelming with the cheese sauce added to it. My friend ordered the chipotle breakfast sandwich and it looked amazing. It was simple and it looked like something I would have really enjoyed vs what I had ordered. I did ask the gentleman in the food truck if they will have the curry noodles anytime soon. With the cold weather coming, they are anticipating the noodles too be back. I look forward to that! I haven't frequented many food trucks but this one has really set the bar high! The quality of the ingredients used were fantastic and fresh. The service was great. The food truck itself was pretty neat. The location is fun and chill. I know we will be back and I look forward to having that bowl of noodles. If not noodles then I'm sure I will be able to find something that will be delicious.

Review #18 for 2022…read more My brother and I just happened upon this place as we were walking around downtown. We saw a truck parked on the side of the road that said, "Kanak Kitchen," so we looked it up on Google Maps and realized it was just around the corner. As Hawaii boys we needed to try it out. Kanak Kitchen is located on the fourth floor of an office building, so if you don't know that it's there, it's easy to miss. I imagine it's mostly just the workers in that building that frequent Kanak Kitchen, but I'd love to see more people from all around try this place. I'd call Kanak Kitchen a fusion of foods from Hawaii. We got poke nachos, which had a good amount of poke and chips with cheese. The quantities were proportional, and it came with some salsa too. We also tried a plate with kalbi short ribs, chicken katsu, Asian slaw, and coconut rice. Coconut rice is not typical in Hawaii, but it was very good as a support for savory foods. The chicken katsu was crispy and good. The kalbi was also good, but we're not used to it having a vinegar flavor. I'd like it a little more well done as it was kinda chewy, but still good overall. There's lots of seating in the restaurant, and there's also a quick serve kiosk on the first floor. Kanak Kitchen does catering too, but we haven't been able to try it yet. The owner Mike is nice, and we look forward to going back to try other foods too!

As a vegetarian, Hawaiian restaurants scare me. They're normally all about pork products--it's just…read morethe cultural preference. That's great, but I am just not into a pig roast or a slab of spam. Kanak Kitchen, though, is totally vegetarian-friendly and has more options than almost anywhere in town. They offer tofu for almost every entree as a protein choice, and if you ask for something meatless they're very accommodating. I love their tofu katsu, which is crispy fried tofu. It's available in a rice bowl, in their Asian burrito, and on a sandwich. The tofu is best in their Hawaiian tacos. For $6, you get two tofu tacos with Asian slaw and cotija cheese (I nixed the Sriacha sauce because I'm a wimp). The tofu is perfectly crispy and light and pairs with the vinegar and salt in the slaw and the creaminess of the cheese and creates a perfect taco. Most meals come with a side--salad, chips, soup, or their amazing cheesy tots. Let's be real, if you're an Idahoan, you're going for the tots. They're covered with gooey cheese, salty, and fried perfectly. If you want to keep it lighter, grab a salad. They have Asian, Ceasar, chicken bacon, luau, spinach bacon, and shrimp options. I asked for the Asian salad, which normally comes with chicken, but with tofu instead, and they agreed without a second question. I always appreciate service that is willing to meet a reasonable request with a yes. If you have room in your stomach, try a soup. They're house-made and phenomenal. I've tried the three-bean and the potato, and both were rich, creamy, and popped with flavor. Other sides include elotes, Hawaiian macaroni, potato, and a fruit medley. All are good but their kimchi is amazing and a unique option that isn't overly heavy. The desserts are amazing too. All of them have creative Hawaiian twists on a classic. Two thumbs up on the bread pudding, but the pineapple upside-down cake is my favorite. Prices are totally reasonable--around $9 for a hot sandwich with a side, or their enormous burrito, or a burger loaded with toppings. You definitely get your money's worth and will leave with a doggie bag too. The owner is an absolutely wonderful man. He also hires immigrants in the community, which I commend as a means of helping extend our Boise niceness to people from outside the valley. I will be back here. Maybe tomorrow. Maybe tonight. Once you try the food, you will too. There's nothing like it in Boise.
