This place was packed and for a good reason! The food is awesome. I got the orange chicken bowl. It came with white rice and some vegetables. All ingredients were fresh and hot and plenty of chicken. It wasn't too sweet or too crunchy...just right! My husband had the chicken katsu. He said it was yummy!!! For how busy it was we didn't wait long at all for our food. On 1/25/23, I had to work late and stopped at Happy Teriyaki on Federal Way in Boise for take-out. This was my first time visiting this business. I was a bit skeptical because I knew it was a franchise with 10 Idaho locations, but it was on my way back to the office and I always like to try new things. I was pleasantly surprised. I ordered the Happy Noodles with Chicken ($12.95), which is Chicken on a bed of Yakisoba Noodles. Other protein options are beef or pork. I was drawn to this dish because Yakisoba isn't on many menus in Idaho. In fact, the first time I ever had it was before it was on any local menus, and I had to make it myself from scratch. The service was excellenot. My order came out fast. It was steaming hot and I could tell from the heft of the bag that it was generously portioned. It made two meals for me. I like that it had a large portion of chicken. The noodles were deliciously, seasoned and perfectly cooked. This is my kind of "fast food." My five star review is based solely on this dish because it's the only one I've tried. It was excellent! And it's the best Yakisoba I've had in Boise to date. Highly Recommended!!! read more

Let's start at 5 stars, which I really like to give... when they're earned. Minus 1 stars for the attitude. (Other reviews confirmed this). Minus 1 star for greed. What went wrong? We spent close to $40 bucks, and even left a few dollars tip. They wanted to charge us .35 cents for an extra packet of teriyaki sauce. Really? While we were waiting for our order, we watched the lady take all of the money from the tip jar, count it, and put it in the cash register (with the same gloves she had on to handle the food). Ugh. Now, if the owner is reading this, you're probably thinking to yourself... "Gee... with what he paid in gratuity, we could've avoided this less-than-stellar review if we weren't so greedy." The people in the back who I assume must be the cooks. Always give dirty glares and stares. As if it's an inconvenience that costumers come in. Which makes me feel very unwelcome everytime I come in. First time here & great experience. Pros; Hannah was a delight! Super sweet, friendly and professional to every customer that walked in as I was waiting. Generous portions of delicious, fresh food. I had the pork teriyaki with rice, steamed veggies, skewer of grilled shrimp, egg roll & gyoza dumplings. I'll definitely be back to try the many noodle dishes soon. I had mine to-go and all was wrapped excellent with all sauces as requested. The interior looked clean and well-stocked. Happy teriyaki was an awesome way to end my trip to Idaho. We were originally informed about them from some of the employees at Jackson Group Peterbilt. I ordered the Chicken Teriyaki and a side of shrimp tempura. The tempura was really good but it really doesn't look appealing as they are pretty thin. I will say it tasted great though. The teriyaki and steamed veggies were cooked very well. There is a lot of sauce at the bottom so if you don't like it too salty, be cautious of stirring it up too much! Solid limited menu. Ingredients are fresh and made with care. Not a lot of variety nor anything that stands out from the sea of Teriyaki joints around the country. Even before the national price surge of 2022 it was a little on the pricey side. Dine in area is very clean, but small and sterile like a cafeteria. I was blown away by how rude the petite, older, Asian lady that works the cash register was. She had a very abrupt and detached way of talking to people. While I was ordering my food, she upsold me on getting a drink for $1 more. I went to the bathroom while waiting for my order. I saw that the toilet was clogged. I came out to politely let her know. She recoiled her body, scowled at me, and confirmed which bathroom it was. There was no apology or gratitude. I grabbed a cup for my drink and filled up the ice. I hear her saying something that I couldn't understand. I moved closer and then heard her say that I didn't buy a drink. I was confused. She then immediately prints off a receipt (which I didn't get originally) and shows it in front of me. (She must not have heard that I said "OK" to getting one.) So, I put the empty cup by the register. She then chucks it into a garbage can and just stands there counting coins. On top of that, the food was expensive. The veggies were also bland and soggy. The restaurant is very plain looking and small with limited seating. I have never experienced such a lack of customer service. Apparently, you are just a "number" to this business too, whether you experience this unwarranted attitude during your visit or not. Happy Teriyaki makes me more than happy. It makes me ecstatic! Tucked next to the Albertson's on Federal Way, if you didn't know this little pocket restaurant was there, you might miss it. It's in an unassuming strip of concrete convenient to Micron employees. I'm sure they benefit from its location but all others have to seek out this gem near Highway 21. They've got pleasant counter service. They've got boba tea. They've got styrofoam containers, which need to be swapped with something kinder to Mama Earth. And boy, do they have plenty of meat behind that zippy, savory teriyaki sauce. Lunch has some basic but satisfying combos. You can get teriyaki chicken with white rice, veggies and an egg roll or gyoza. They also have a small bowl of orange chicken if you don't want the loads of meat found in the other combos. Entree wise, I dig the combinations. Most center around teriyaki with the addition of a side or a different kind of meat. I enjoy the chicken teriyaki and spicy chicken combo. It's not very spicy though. If you like a good kick, get siracha with your meal. They supply a plethora of sauces on the counter. Try the garlic sauce. If you need to nab it to go, they have cups for you to gather sauces to your heart's content. There are few places in Boise that provide so much meaty sustenance for a fair price. Gotta say, not a ton of shrimp in the fried rice and the teriyaki is ok, but not great. The place was very clean and although our food took a little bit longer to come out, it was fresh and delicious. Worst experience I have ever had! Yesterday I stopped in for my first time after my coworkers had suggested it. I just started a new job and only had $25 in my account as I'm waiting to get paid. During payment processing I asked if a drink was included and the lady cashier told me it was not. Before I could even respond she cancelled the transaction which already posted to my account and re-charged me for a meal with drink included. Mind you; it was 2:30 and I had been working since 5:30am, so I was extremely Hangry. When she ran my card it was showing as declined for insufficient funds. I explained I would have just paid for the drink separately and was met with a very rude response. She says "You should have told me". I said "well you didn't give me a chance to let you know". Then she aggressively reaches over the register, takes my drink cup and sticks it back with the rest. I have never experienced such passive aggressive behavior at any other location in this strip mall. I work around the corner and it's unfortunate because I would have remained a loyal customer out of convenience location-wise. I ended up with sushi from Albertsons. Where do I start? The chicken katsu is delicious. I always ask to replace the veggies with fried rice since the fried rice is unlike anything I've ever had before. Customer service is always quick and friendly! Also, the sauce that comes included with meals is delicious, I'm not quite sure of the name. Overall, I love this place and am never left unsatisfied.
