Today's tea journey brought me to Whale tea. The location of this joint is close to the stadium which is nice. I would come here often if I lived closer. What a pretty venue! It's very bright and vibrant. There's a ton of room and tables for people to grab a drink and hang out. It gives a very cozy feeling with the pillows on the long bench and little couch. There's two ordering stations that you can order your drinks from. There's not a lot of interaction with you and the barista. Actually, the gal that was working didn't really talk to us. She had a guest that she was giving her attention to. They were chatting it up the whole time we were ordering and while our drinks were made. There was a gentleman that clocked in and he helped me for a bit. He helped me start a new drink card. This would have been a 5 star review if the gal would have just paid a little more attention to us. For drinks I got the pomelo lemon tea with lychee jelly. My daughter grabbed the strawberry slushy with lychee jelly as well. The tea was delightful! You can taste the citrus in the tea. It was perfectly sweetened with a good amount of jellies on the bottom. There's also pieces of citrus peel. It added a nice element to my drink. The strawberry slushy was perfectly blended. It was thick and icy. It came with the cutest lid! My tea was fantastic and the venue is really cute! I look forward to trying other tea if I'm ever in the area again. read more

Bright, clean & spacious with plenty of spaces to sit. Wait time is a bit longer than what I'm used to compared to other boba shops I've been to in my lifetime. The tapioca here was fresh, still warm and perfectly chewy. But it was a little too warm in my drink, so it turned my iced drink to room-temp really quick (not good, especially in this summer heat). Would I come here again? Sure! Only thing I'd suggest for this business is to allow the boba to cool down a bit more before putting it into cold drinks. read more

I come here almost each time I'm in downtown. The staff are always nice and willing to help. I liked all of the different drinks I've tried, especially the crème brûlée taro milk/milk tea. My husband and I have been searching for a decent boba place ever since moving to Idaho. We've been disappointed so far, even with some that have food reviews. But Whale Tea changed all that! I typically order just a regular milk tea with boba with any new boba place I go to, because in my opinion, a boba place can't call itself a boba place if they can't get a standard milk tea with boba properly. Hence, that's what I ordered here at Whale Tea, and my husband usually tries a fruit tea. The milk tea boba here is fantastic! The boba is soft and chewy and cooked just right, and the milk tea itself had the perfect balance of milk, tea, and sweetness. It wasn't too sweet and it still had a strong tea flavor which I like. My husband tried the mango fruit tea and it was also really really good. I typically expect fruit teas to be on the overly sweet side in most boba places, but Whale Tea got it just right! I'm so happy to finally find a boba place in Idaho that's comparable to what you'd might expect from California. I know folks around here don't care much for California, but trust me when I say you'd want the boba to be like the ones from there lol. read more

This place is really cute and aesthetic. The drinks look amazing and if you get certain drinks, you get a cute bear top for your cup. Drinks are a bit pricey. The flavor of the tea is nice and fresh. I recommend the grapefruit tea. Some of the drinks are hit or miss but overall enjoy these drinks :) The boba could use some work. Maybe it was just when I went, but it had the consistency of jello almost. I am very privileged when it comes to boba places, so maybe I'm just being too picky. The Whale Tea On 2/6/22, ES and I visited The Whale Tea in Boise for the first time. The Whale Tea, a franchise specializing in Milk Teas aka Boba Teas that originated in China. My go to order the first time I visit a new Boba tea joint is the classic Milk Tea. ES tried the Jasmine Tea Crystal (Coconut Milk) with Lychee Boba. ES was on the fence about his drink. He probably would not order it again. Mine was a lot less sweet than normal and had hot Boba, which quickly turned what should have been a cold drink into one that was too warm and watery. I was really looking forward to trying this business, but I was disappointed with the outcome. Based solely on the comparison of this particular drink to the others I've had in the Treasure Valley, Urban Fox in Meridian remains my favorite. I liked the physical space but people entering and leaving continued to leave one of the doors wide-open, which made it chilly inside. I recommend the owner checks the setting on the door because when someone opens it all the way, it should swing shut after them, not remain locked in an open position. The bathrooms appear to be ADA compliant. I like the cute pink and blue whales on the doors. I plan to return to The Whale Tea to try something else, because they have a number of unique Boba Teas that you can't find anywhere else. The passion fruit iced tea was good but it could have used some passion fruit seeds inside or something. They don't ask you for the sweetness level from the start but I'm sure if you asked they would have no problem changing that. The restaurant itself looks super clean and it's very pretty and very coherent. Very authentic Taiwanese style and reasonable prices for America. I am definitely coming back. New to the Boba scene in Boise, we've been patiently waiting for this little spot to open after months of seeing a 'coming soon' sign out front. The Whale Tea is a franchise, apparently originating in China, spreading to Singapore, Malaysia & the US. We tried 3 different teas, they were all exceptional! High quality ingredients and wonderful pearls. They are a bit of a pricey treat though. Boise Boba I believe is a little less expensive. The interior of the store is newly renovated. They serve the tea in a bag, it's like your picking up a gift! It makes it very easy for transport if you are enjoying the treat to go. The only complaint I have is that we road our bikes & there isn't really any bike parking out front....hopefully they can add some in, as I bet this is going to be a popular spot for the biking college crowds. I've been waiting for a place that brews the tea for their drinks and limits the number of items on the menu made with powder mix! The menu has a huge list of boba teas, fruity drinks, and toppings with seemingly endless combinations - I'm already planning out future drinks to order! They also prepare everything in a cute little whale, take out bag. I ordered the 'Strawberry Fresh Milk,' 'the Whale Crystal,' and the 'Taro Milk Tea' with boba. The interior was also new, very clean, and well lit. All the staff members were equipped with masks and they offered hand sanitizer at check out, as well as contactless pay. There is also the option to order online and pick in store from various food delivery apps. A new yummy boba shop opened up near my house and I had to try it. The name and adorable whale theme immediately sparked my interest. I got a Creme Brûlée brown sugar milk tea and it was delicious! They scorched the sugar perfectly and it was a nice texture when I broke it down in my drink. Service was great. I got there right when it opened that day and immediately in about ten minutes there was a long line of people ready to order. The location is near a college campus too which was a smart move. Good boba shop near the BSU campus. It was busy when I went. I ordered the strawberry slush with popping boba. I was able to grab a table before the rush. After I ordered a wave of people came through the door. I know it's a chain but it's ok because they've already established a following. The UW campus back home is saturated with boba shops. I think this boba shop near BSU has a really good thing going since they don't really have any competition...which is probably why they were so busy. Parking can be an issue. We actually found a spot when we got there but when we left I noticed there weren't any spots available. Pack your patience because they process online orders too. read more

I got the crème brûlée Oreo milk tea with boba. The boba was 50c extra. Not a huge deal. They make the sugar in too nice and crispy as if you were getting the dessert. It was really good, but I probably woke or order this particular one again. My friend got the brown sugar milk tea and that was super yummy!! I'd definitely get that again. I've had boba all over the world and this boba spot is pretty good! I've had the Thai tea, brown sugar milk tea, lychee iced tea, and Taro milk tea all delicious! The teas have a authentic sweet and and hint of herbal flavor to them. I also got boba in all of the drinks. The boba is made the proper way! They soak their boba in a brown sugar mixture and keep it warm before serving. The texture is perfect being soft and chewy. Came back a second time today. Feels like the first real boba place in town, so glad its downtown. The boba pearls are made fresh too, and you can customize sweetness and sugar level.
