The brown one is mango and the purple is Ube.

If I could I would leave no stars. This was awful! The mango boba tasted like grass clippings and the Ube boba tasted like they were trying to cover up the fact that it had spoiled. I literally gaged after tasting them and had to immediately spit it out. I don't think I have ever paid so much for something so awful.

Stopped by here on the whim on a Monday evening since it's close to home. The menu is a bit limited in terms of drinks, but it's understandable since they just opened. They also have Vietnamese sandwiches (banh mi) and snacks here. The establishment is to-go only as we noticed there's no seating anywhere, which is a bit unfortunate since it'd be nice to sit down and enjoy our drinks and food. Weirdly enough, there were no trash cans so we didn't have a place to toss our straw wrappers. There's two self-service kiosks in addition to the cashier. The service was friendly but a bit slow. We ordered an Original Milk tea with Boba (less sugar), Vietnamese coffee, and Banh Mi Cha Lua. The milk tea was great as it wasn't too sweet and you can really taste the tea flavor. As a Vietnamese person, the Banh Mi Cha Lua was good since the pate and pickled veggies were on point. Unfortunately, I recommend skipping the boba and Vietnamese coffee. The boba was so overcooked to the point where it was just mushy blobs. The Vietnamese coffee was super watered down. All in all, I wasn't too impressed. I get that they just opened, so they're likely smoothing out the kinks until they get a good handle on things.

We decided to try this place thinking it was new, as we have never seen it or heard of it even though we drive by it several times a week. Turns out they've been open for almost a year. First impression as we parked in front was that it was closed..storefront is pretty plain, and the lighting inside isn't visible from outside. Plus, there were no customers. Employees said they are rarely busy. Looking at the menu we saw that they use fresh taro and fresh ube with their drinks..considering most of the boba tea places here in Treasure Valley only use powder, that peaked our interest. We ordered the taro iced milk-tea and a Chả Lụa Bahn Mi. The drink was tasty with fresh ingredients. The bahn mi, although smaller than usual bahn mi's and not made with traditional crispy baguette bread, was actually really good! Perfect combo of pork, pate, pickled veggies and jalapeño. And the crispy bread was good. Note to the owner: Considering the area is full of California transplants, this place should really be busy and successful. I think with a good advertising campaign, and maybe a better storefront to make it more visible to people driving by, this place will certainly succeed. The two employees were friendly, polite, and helpful. We will be back.

Such a cute place to visit! Riley was so sweet & welcoming as she walked me through the menu, gave recommendations & sold me on a decadent, perfectly sweetened Oreo milk boba tea! Can't wait to come back for rolled ice cream & fresh baked filled waffles!

Ohh Bobaa now has rolled ice cream! Smooth, delicious and you can add all the boba toppings on it. Must try for this part of Idaho!

The plain Black Boba Tea I ordered specifically with no milk.....

The staff wasn't very friendly- she just seemed rushed and annoyed we came in. She kept mentioning how she needed to clean the place since they were closing in 20 minutes (which is not that their sign posted outside said). I ordered a plain black tea with boba and she said "I think I can do that" then asked for a tip after making it into a milk tea when I specifically asked for just plain black iced tea and boba ‍

With its varied menu and delicious happy hour selection this place could be a favorite for a wide variety of the local population. Classy, welcoming with engaging staff. While the selections of taps are diverse and smart for diners, it is the kitchen that is the real star here. We tried the Happy Hour fare (3-5 pm). See the pics for details. We also tried the Kobe sliders, but they fell short of the Chicken Sliders with their tender, juicy cuts of breast. The lineup of drinks are on full display at the bar and with scannable menus. This is a solid place for bringing friends or family for a gathering - yes, like the name suggests "Common". If anyone in your group cannot find a drink and meal to their liking, then you need to replace that person from your social circle or family. 2 hour free parking directly behind the building makes this location much better than the downtown businesses in the liberal ghetto of Boise where they will soon tax the air you breathe. Here, the pricing will not require you to take out a second mortgage as the Boise elites would have you do for eating in their downtown. It is no surprise that more quality dining places are opening in cities like Eagle, Caldwell, Nampa and Meridian where Idahoans can enjoy life.

The food is incredibly well seasoned and thoughtfully prepared, and I love that many of the dishes are uniquely served on cast iron plates -- it adds both character and keeps everything hot from first bite to last. The portions are no joke either. We ordered the Big Boy Omelette with their house potatoes and a BLT with fries, and both were outstanding. Everything was flavorful, cooked perfectly, and plated in a way that made it feel like more than just your average breakfast. At one point, I had to stop and ask another patron what they ordered because it completely filled their plate. It was the chicken-fried steak, and they told me it was cooked perfectly. I can eat -- but there is no way I could finish that chicken-fried steak by myself! The service was just as impressive as the food. Our server, Audrey, was on another level of fantastic. She was attentive, friendly, efficient, and genuinely made the experience better. Be prepared to wait -- it gets busy for a reason. The quality, portions, and service clearly draw a crowd, so plan ahead when going for breakfast. We will absolutely be back -- and we hope all the servers are like Audrey!

We had a different server than our usual this time and she was fantastic. I wish I remembered her name to give her a shout out. I took away a star because the food wasn't as great as the last few times I visited. The eggs were overcooked (kind of dry and almost rubbery) and the hash browns were under cooked in the center. Now, if you've read my previous review, youd know how much i absolutely LOVE their pancakes - and I've made it my go-to spot for breakfast because of it. Well, either they changed the recipe or someone messed up this batch. It was nice and fluffy, but bland. That signature deliciously buttery flavor was nowhere to be found. I kept taking bites hoping my tongue was deceiving me... but there were no lies. Just disappointment. This is definitely a deal breaker. Maybe I'll try one more time. If it was just a one-time fluke, I'll update this review and stars. :::sigh:::

Update: My wife and I decided to give the Meridian BY another try. It is Monday, President's Day…read more We came about 11 am. The place was very crowded. As I mentioned previously, I was a patron of the flagship BY in Pacific Beach, having grown up and spent most of my life in San Diego. We were sat at a booth right away, which we liked. Our server, Tyler, was a very friendly guy. He was also very busy. He was covering tables all over the restaurant. He took our order, and had to come back later to tell us what we already knew: our food was taking longer than usual to come out. My wife had her usual eggs, bacon, hashbrowns, and toast. You can't go too wrong with that. I ordered the chorizo and eggs with corn tortillas. The chorizo seemed to be in chunks within the eggs, so that you could get a bit of eggs with no chorizo. I like mine mixed up well in the eggs, and that is what I'm used to. The Mexican rice was dry but the refried beans were good. The corn tortillas seemed like raw tortillas barely steamed and only lukewarm. Not appetizing. So, kudos to Tyler for being a nice and hardworking guy. Otherwise, this BY does not remind me of my experiences in the San Diego locations. The food is not impressive and as I said in my previous review, there are so many other cool places to enjoy breakfast in the Treasure Valley.

I'm not really in favor of having to give your cell phone number to feed into their app so you know when your table is ready, but there you have it. The inside is pretty cool if you are into that "converted warehouse" feel of exposed beam crossed with a country kitchen feel. Tables aren't crammed together, definitely a sense of space. There are booth options as well. And as I prefer, no TVs. There were 2 groups of 14 that were served during our visit, so they can definitely accommodate larger parties. Our server rarely checked in, took 10 minutes to refill coffee after we requested a top off (she forgot), and never ended up refilling out water. The coffee we did get was good though. As always, I'm a hollandaise connoisseur as the foundation for perfect Benedict - my go to breakfast item. So I asked for a sample before I ordered, and I'm glad I did. The Griddle's hollandaise was curious. It was clearly about 25-50% powdered mix (which tastes like nasty beef gravy) with the balance being added clarified butter and a very strong dose of lemon. It was marginal, but good enough. So, I went with the crab cake Benedict. The crab cakes were a bit "fishy," so the strong lemon flavor was a plus. After flagging down our server, I requested a new poached egg as one of them arrived hard boiled. (I want runny yolks as hard boiled are too chalky for my taste.) The replacement egg was delivered very quickly. My guest had the banana Texas french toast special with added bacon and scrambled eggs. Bacon was nice and thick, nicely cooked. Scrambled eggs are pretty much just that. The french toast did have great body to it, but I'm not a huge banana fan. Still enjoyed it though. I would consider this an option for a revisit.

Their messaging app sent me one text 12 minutes after I registered at the front desk…read more But that message combined both the "we have you on our wait list" along with a second message 'your table is ready". This was 12 minutes after registering. One notification for the combined messages. So, as I waited for the table ready message I missed our 10 minute warning. Was this some screw up of their messaging provider? Pretty lousy implementation. So when we finally asked why the "15 minute wait m" became 35 we found out our reservation had expired. When asked whst they could do under the circumstances, we were told we'd have to go to the bottom of the list and wait again. This time for 20 minutes. Apparently, this Griddle location is where customer service goes to die. Meanwhile, we hopped over to Joe Mama's where their messaging system is much more informative and intuitive. Not to mention it works. We may patronize other Griddle locations. Maybe. But this one's off the list.

Many mother's day outings here with my daughter before I worked my 13 hour shift serving other moms. It will forever hold the best memories for me. It has been close to 9 years since I have eaten here. Moving towards the north end created a big distance between us. But I was in the area with my neice today so we stopped in for breakfast. There's no other place in Meridian that I'd rather eat breakfast at! I remember this joint when the old owners owned it. It honestly was run down, old and dated. Your typical greasy spoon. My friend, Bob, took it over about 10 years ago and has totally given it the face lift it needed. It's brighter, cleaner and welcoming. I love the fresh flowers with our beautiful country's flag by the front door. I love the flowers painted on the windows too, it gives it such a fun appearance. I love the bright white building with the black trim. I love the bright lines in the parking lot. It's been revamped outside and it's gorgeous. Inside of the venue has had work done as well. The drapes were red, white and blue to go with the 4th of July. I love that they decorated for America's birthday. I'm sure they change it through the different holidays. The lighting is brighter. The decor is simple and fun. It just looks cleaner and fresh inside. It's not the old greasy spoon it used to be. My neice and I decided to sit at the bar, that's where my daughter and I used to eat at all the time. Kaitlyn greeted us and got our drinks started. I got hot coffee and my neice got an orange juice. I appreciate the creamer they had neatly placed by the condiments. It was nice not to have them just thrown in a bowl. Little details like that are fantastic. After breezing over the menu, we got our food placed with Kaitlyn. I got the popeye omelet with only 2 eggs instead of 3, cheddar instead of Swiss with no onions or mushrooms. I got fruit instead of bread and potatoes. My neice got the Belgian waffle with strawberries and whipped cream on top with a side of hashbrowns. My omelet was cooked perfectly. It had a generous amount of spinach. We know spinach shrinks really bad when it's cooked and vanishes. You can tell they didn't hold back with the spinach. The cheese was nice and melty in the middle. Even though I asked for my omelet to be 1 egg shy of it's normal 3, I only ate half. It was a hearty omelet. My fruit was ok. It wasn't fresh fruit but I didn't mind. I ate a much as I could. My neice polished half of her huge waffle. It looked tasty with the berries and whipped cream. The side of hashbrowns was no joke. It was such a huge portion! We ate about a third of it and took the rest home to enjoy later. My friend, Bob has done such an amazing job making this place his own. Express Cafe will always be one of Meridian's best breakfast joints. The amount of years it's been around speaks for itself. I'm so proud of Bob and all that he's done. The food was good today. Service from Kaitlyn was fantastic! I'm just sad that it took my close to 9 years to come back. That's going to change and I look forward to having Express Cafe be a part of my day sometime soon. I won't allow another 9 years to pass by.
