Beware, they give change and it counterfeit. Please read what happened to me and I am weekly, sometimes twice a week customer. Never again!
On Friday 08/03 at 4:47 I went to my local Kroger Fuel Center to purchase $20 in gas. I have the cashier $100.00 bill she gave me back, 80 change. $50, $20, $10. I took my change and receipt folded put in my wallet. Never to be looked at again, until I went Whatburger where I spent 9.40, I used the $10. I later went on Saturday night to QT to fill up, as I drive for Uber part time and needed fuel. I gave them the $50, only to my surprise to be told that it was counterfeit. The young man put it thru the machine & it rejected it. He could have called the police and I would have been arrested! At thus point I am extremely nervous and pissed off. This morning I return back to the Kroger & speak with the manager on duty. His name was Glenn, he refused to give his last name. More to come on that later. I introduced myself to Glen and explain to him what happened. He told me that since the money had left the premises that there was nothing that he can do I asked him if he could review the surveillance video from the fuel center he said that there was no way to guarantee that the 50 that the cashier gave to me was the 50 in which I was bringing back. So I stated that we needed to call the police and file a police report. We both called the police and Irving Police Department showed up within 10 minutes the amazing officer bissinger was very kind and empathetic to what I was faced with. Even the store manager when he looked at the 50 couldn't even tell it was a fake initially. The officer stated that even if they had ran the marker across the 50 then it will still showed as a legitimate bill because it was a bleached $5 bill. How would your everyday consumer even have knowledge of this be aware to even check or be so terrified to take change back from a cashier. The officer took the detail report and asked if Kroger was doing anything to help resolve the situation I express to him no they weren't he said that's disappointing and I agreed. As the officer is taking the report and I've given him my ID the store manager Glen finally decides to reappear and when I state to him that there is something that they need to do because I couldn't afford to lose $50 by simply using their fuel center to get gas I'm now out of $70. I work two jobs and times are hard that $50 was used to get me fuel for the rest of the week and groceries that I was going to buy from their store. When I asked him for the store manager's name he would only give me the first name Jessie. When I asked for the last name he just stood there and looked me in my face and refused it when I started recording him he became extremely agitated and tried to tell me that Kroger does not allow filming it's a contactor media Department and if the officer asked for it he would give it. I expressed to him in the video that I'm the victim receiving counterfeit money still nothing he just walked away. Officer bissinger and I continue with filling out the report and he provided me some good tips to keep myself safe ftcontact the regional and corporate office. We even discussed that Gkwnn coukd have had better customer service or even offered a gift card or something at least then I'm going to be spending the money back to them. You know as I sit here and type this I feel like I was treated as a Criminal by Glen maybe if my skin shade was the same as Glen or maybe even if I was a male; Glenn would have given me a little bit more respect and treated me like a consumer who was a victim of getting counterfeit money from a store he manages. Now I am trying to figure out how am I going to get fuel for the rest of the week and how am I going to get food for the week he had no answers for that he just pressed his lips, shrugged his shoulders and turned his back on me while I asked for store manager full name. I never raisedan my voice, rude or angry at Glenn. And still he walked away bc I was filming him when asking for information. Don't go here! read more
