We have visited all four Kroger stores in Johnson County and this store is the cleanest and most well organized. This Kroger seems to be one of the busier stores as well. They are often out of your favorite product depending on the day and time you do your shopping. Sunday is the definitely their busiest day of the week. This location has a nice variety of organic and regular fruits and vegetables. The have a large selection of daily in-store made sushi and they even have a Starbucks for those who like to peruse while caffeinated. This location has a large craft beer and wine selection. They also have a dedicated cheese station. The staff that work the cheese station super friendly and helpful. You can get a propane tank replacement and rent from the the Redbox located near the entrance. If you have a Kroger card and spend one hundred dollars - you qualify for 10 cents off per gallon of gas at the Kroger gas station. It's nice to have a store with some many options this far south in Greenwood.

I used to shop at the Kroger's a few miles north when I lived in Greenwood; Either that one or the Marsh that has become defunct. Recently, this "new Kroger" was built on the southeast corner of SR 135 and Smokey Row Road and it is far bigger than either of the two I used to shop at. This Kroger has a huge selection of produce to your right after you enter the prime shopping area. Beyond the produce, there is a Bistro that has window seating (view of the parking lot, but hey, at least it's sunlight!) The south end of the store also has a bakery and a butcher shop in the back that had three butchers working during my visit which made it easy to get my order wrapped and ready to go promptly. Between the bakery and the butcher/deli areas, there is an extensive selection of local and commercial beer and wines. I was surprised how many craft beers that were available to choose from. The middle of the store seems to be two halves filled with groceries with numerous rows running east to west. I like the idea of a central aisle down the middle of the products, but it does make you slow down to look at what's on each side of that aisle and makes you have to watch for carts pulling out into your way more frequently. Of course, ever store seems to be set up a little differently, so unless the specific item you are looking for is listed overhead at the start of each aisle, you may be wandering around looking for help. Seems like there are always people stocking shelves, but those more often than not aren't Kroger employees, but someone from a supplier. The north end of the store carries a lot of non-food items and the back corner has the seasonal items which I rarely bother with while shopping, so I am glad it isn't in the way. I was a little disappointed with the check out though. Only one line was open for processing other than the six self help stations. One of the stations was non-functioning, three had customers, and two were tied up with an employee trying to help another customer. The customer was asking about a charge and had pushed her cart in front of the other only remaining checkout. That's where the employee and the customer stood discussing some charges while not clearing the one that still had the customer's charges registering. So, I still had to wait in line for one of the machines to open since the discussion seemed like it was going to go on. Finally, I was able to get one of the machines and check out. I will say that I found that each time I moved one of my bags off the "finished" area to make room for the next item, I found it irritating that the machine told me to put the bags back. "Hey, give me room to check out my groceries or be quiet!" You can't reason with machines any more than with employees. Sigh! Checkout seems like that was probably a one-time problem, so I will give the store a pass and not ding them too hard. Still, any employee stationed to help at that area needs to be aware of all the machines and to keep things flowing smoothly. Review #2514

Nicest Kroger on the south side!
    Ryan A.

I'm trying to get over how nice this place is. Easily the nicest Kroger I've been in, and a huge improvement than the one just a few miles north. The south end of the store has some "to order" items (pizza, sandwiches, etc.) and of course the grocery area has all the usual fixin's. I'm sure only time will tell if this is just the new car feel and it will wear odd, but so far so good - convenient location, great selection, clean store, friendly workers. Couldn't ask for more from a grocery store.

On a day like today I thought it was going to be terrible. The workers had everything moving smoothly and painless.

We always find quite a few sale items especially on vegetables and fruits which are a big portion of our food budget. We also appreciate that they have a lot of alternative options for vegans and others which means you can find almost any unusual ingredients within the store. Plus they have a lot of fun treats as you wander the aisles to pick out other new food items! The story is definitely on our rotation especially when baking or cooking something vegan.

The store, while small, feels spacious and uncrowded, easy to navigate, and sensible in layout. The staff are all friendly and helpful. The meats are all sustainable. Most products are organic. Many products are locally-sourced. All products are priced reasonably and affordable. THE PRODUCE SECTION IS EPIC. I gave up shopping at Kroger because they had poor quality and limited selection, and it always looked picked over. Root veggies were rotten in the middle, withered, old. Fresh Thyme has many hard to find things: Lacinato kale. Dandelion greens. Chayote squash. Hen-of-the-woods mushrooms. Multiple varieties of peppers. I cook with a lot of varied vegetables; dishes from around the world. Fresh Thyme makes that easy. The app is... meh. But Fresh Thyme will deliver groceries shopped for online. While the substitutions have been somewhat hit-or-miss, I'm housebound, waiting for a new hip, so this has been incredibly helpful. The shoppers have also been universally communicative and friendly. As long as I live in Indy, Fresh Thyme has my loyalty.

Review of Kroger - Ongoing Check Fraud Issue…read more This is the second time my elderly father has experienced check fraud involving Kroger. That alone raises serious concerns. Most recently, he wrote a check for $17 at a Kroger store. The physical check was returned to him showing $17, and his receipt also confirmed the correct amount. However, when he later checked his bank account, $317 had been withdrawn. Despite numerous attempts to get this resolved, Kroger has offered nothing but delays, blaming their third-party check processing vendor. When contacted, the vendor pointed the finger back at Kroger. This circular blame game has gone nowhere. To be clear: a Kroger cashier effectively stole $300 from an elderly customer. And given this is the second time it's happened to him, it would be naïve to think this isn't a more widespread issue--one that may often go unnoticed, especially by elderly shoppers who rely on paper checks. As of now, there has been no resolution, no accountability, and no refund. Kroger needs to take this issue seriously and ensure better oversight of its check handling process, especially when vulnerable customers are being targeted.

The produce section is usually pretty decent, although I was recently looking at avocados and found one with an A P E E L sticker. Not happy at all. The organic produce options are great and I find that the employees who work in this section are very friendly and helpful when I need additional help. The sushi is yummy. I love the bakery options. Sour dough bread. Cupcakes. Roselyn bakery goodies. And so many more treats. The earlier you go in the day, the better your chances are of finding fresh baked goodies. Overall, the store offers great options with organic meat, dairy, and so much more. I feel like they're constantly trying to find ways to improve their store, which I appreciate. I also love finding discounted flowers/plants in the floral department and the hidden clearance section near the pet department. Out of all of the employees, I would say that Barb is my favorite. She's patient and kind. Engaging and easy to communicate with. Anytime the computers are acting up or I have made an error in self checkout, she never makes me feel like a burden.
