I rarely review grocery stores, but I wanted to mention the service I got yesterday from the employee working the self serve check out area. None of the big boxes stores have self serve check out machines available to handle multiple scans of the same item which I think is a huge flaw. I buy cat food by the case so three cases makes for 72 scans of the exact same item. A regular cashier employee can enter in the quantity and do one scan, why can't we or why can't the employee working the self serve check out area? I asked the employee working the self serve and she said she could not. I had 30 items, all the same, in flimsy cellophane wrapping which can be challenging at times to get a good scan. She didn't think it would work but tried using the hand held scanner to repeatedly scan one item 30 times. It worked for us, so thank you Meijer for helping me get checked out quicker and with no frustration. I do like the "department store" side of these big box grocery stores. In addition to the regular non grocery store items they offer, I have found some good merchandise not normally seen in other stores of this kind. I also find a tad better quality of merchandise as well. Particularly when it comes to kitchen and home furnishings. Their hardware inventory is larger than their competition. read more

So grocery shopping is not my favorite thing. In fact if I listed my top 1000 favorite things, grocery shopping wouldn't make that list. But it's a necessity and Meijer makes it as nice as possible. Store is always well stocked (except pandemic but who can blame them) aisles are wide so even if they are restocking it's still easy to get around. Lots of self check out kiosks as well as staffed lanes, so if I make it during off hours, checking out is quick and easy. My experience with the staff assisting self check out lanes has also been very positive. Cause sometimes things on sale don't ring up right, but when that happened today the person was so quick to help me fix it. read more

Here's the deal. Meijer is the best priced grocery store in Greenwood. Meijer also has a nice assortment of brands but is not overwhelming. That's all that's good. Customer service is almost non existent. Employees standing by the doors rarely look up for their cell phones to say hi. Meijer also has a lot of self check outs and maybe one regular check out open. My second time trying to use this I was accused of stealing a .45 piece of hardware. I had actually scanned it twice by mistake. The accusation was clear and they pulled up a video of my scan. I complained to no avail. Meijer does not care about customer satisfaction. I load my cart and then unload it at the checkout scan my own groceries only to reload my groceries unload them again into my car, take them home and unload them again. I have no training on grocery scanners and have no desire to learn. I don't work for Meijer and don't want to but with the work they put me through to shop in their store, THEY SHOULD BE PAYING ME! read more

I love this store!! I live 2 minutes away so I'm always there. I never have issues finding products, every employee I've talked to has been really nice. The store is always clean and the prices are reasonable. I get my dogs medicine from the pharmacy and have had great experiences with the pharmacy employees as well. Bakery review ONLY! I have gotten several cakes, cupcakes cakes etc. from this Meijer and I've been overly enjoyed each time. So much so I keep going back :) First time was for my husband groom cake. I asked for one of their cakes but I asked for the to tweak it for him and his personality and they did it without complaints or issues and everyone loved it couldnt believe it was from Meijer! Bought a premade one that looked like it had ice. Ream scoops on top for a birthday party for 3 people... cakes was $11.99. It was perfect size. It was really really sweet, but everyone enjoyed it. My nieces birthday was this past Saturday and I ordered two cakes for her day a week early. Went in and looked around. They have a cupcake unicorn cake. I asked if that could be converted into a horse and make it girly, add some glitter etc. (17 yr old) absolutely she said. So I bought that and a tort style cake, strawberry cake with strawberry filling and a cream cheese icing and add a Happy Birthday to that. The both turned put amazing! I was so happy. She was so happy. Everyone thought they were cute and delicious. The icing on the horse was a chocolate and either butterscotch or a Carmel with vanilla. read more

I used to really like Meijer , but now Ill never patronize the one in Greenwood again . I found it completely unacceptable that with lines running down the aisles , and older people who don't do self checkout that only one register was open . Lots of employees , but nobody being used to check out customers . It's Christmas , and you refuse to check out people with carts full of items . Upon leaving , I was asked by a woman at the door to show my receipt . You refuse to check people out , but expect me to prove I'm not a thief by complying with a receipt check , when I'm leaving the store . No thanks ! She was randomly checking some people , and I'll never return to a store that's ran this bad . I don't steal , and I'll spend hundreds of dollars at a store that will ring up my groceries . Meijer practically has everything. I shop here more often than Wal-mart. There are a lot of stores to choose from: Target, Marsh, Kroger, CVS, Walgreens, Wal-mart, O'Malia's, etc. But I probably shop here the most often because they have everything you need and the location is nice. It's hard to go to Meijer without seeing someone you know, though. So you end up talking with someone for a while when you should be shopping. Their bakery is okay. They somewhat recently revamped the whole store. The location of some things is strange, but there is a logic to it. You might just have to get used to it. They have a small electronics section, and not very many items. Help is limited. The help that I've had has been two not so knowledgeable middle-aged women. Groceries are good quality overall. Produce is good. Meat is good. Milk prices are typically good. They don't have a card to use like Kroger or Marsh or Sam's Club. Their prices are typically good, and they usually have a lot of sales and deals going on. They are well staffed and if you need something, generally they'll find if for you. They are open 24 hours, which is a big plus. read more

Honestly I only go here when I need something specific or they're having a sale. The grocery selection is pretty vast and the prices are good, but the rest of the store just doesn't have much to choose from. For example, despite a large pet section they didn't sell any dog bowls. None. Pro tip - they do sell Rice Krispie Treats Cereal, and this is the only store on the south side that has them that we can find. Other than that, in my experience you're better off going between Target and Kroger. (Or Wal-Mart if that's your style.) read more

I miss Meijer so much. We don't have them in South Carolina, and we could use them. Meijer gives Walmart good competition, and they do so in really good ways. Their wine selection is amazing, and they have really good produce. I also love the fact that I can shop for home goods, clothing, jewelry, sporting goods, etc. but I'm shopping for much higher end stuff than I find at Walmart. If you hate Walmart and are looking for a new place to shop, I recommend Meijer. I will say, I have had some issues with cashiers, who can sometimes be rude or just not friendly. Overall, though, my experiences here have been very good. read more

Worst meijer location ever. Their lanes are the slowest, nobody knows how to work the register. We have been going here for years and we always struggle with the lines, every time we come we spend the majority of our time in line. Slow slow slow slow. Even the self checkout is slow because people would rather self checkout their entire weekly groceries than stand in their stupid slow lines. I highly suggest just going to any of the surrounding Kroger, Walmart, or target because the service is just SO MUCH friendlier and QUICKER. Not a great experience today. I love that this store carries more natural and healthy foods than the store in Camby, but the bad customer service completely ruined it for me. Prices were wrong in the shelves and when I pointed it out I didn't even get an apology let alone the price honored. And it was clearly a mistake by the staff. Since moving to Indy (from Boston, MA) Meijer has become my favorite store to get groceries. They are reasonably priced, and have great sales. The staff is helpful and friendly, the store is pretty clean and they have pretty much anything you need for your cooking needs. So far this is the only store out here that I found who carries the B&M brand baked beans (the best!) that I always bought back home. They also have a decent International isle, you might not find all your international food needs, but it's a nice selection for a store that doesn't specialize in that stuff and better than what I've seen at Kroger, Walmart or Marsh. read more

They can never seem to get my simple requests right :/ I ordered a yellow cake with chocolate frosting, lime green border and royal blue writing. I had to insist I wanted YELLOW and not white (was told they were "the same thing"). Had to ask 3 times for him to change it to yellow. Received the cake and instead of lime green border and royal blue lettering, I got dark green border and sky blue writing. This is my go-to grocery store. Meijer has pretty reasonable prices and tends to run really good deals. 10 for $10 and the 11th item is free is one of my favorite deals they run and I stock up when they do. The meat selection is pretty good, though the whole meat area does tend to smell like seafood. The bakery selection is decent, as is the produce. I wish the health and beauty stuff wasn't on the complete opposite side of the store, but I know they do it to force you to walk through the whole store. I do like that the frozen food section is near the front, instead of at the back of the store like most places, but I wish they would move the dairy selection up front too, that way you could work from the back of the store toward the front without having anything get warm. The beer and liquor selection is pretty good for a grocery store and I can typically find seasonal brews here without a problem from regional and national breweries. Really ripe produce is marked down and left on a rack by the bagged salad area. Day old bakery items are marked down and left on a rack back in the back of the store by the milk coolers, which I find a little odd. But I have been able to score some pretty good deals in the past on perfectly good bread. The clothing selection here is 'eh'. I've purchased a few things here in the past and the shoe selection always appears to be picked over and there's usually only a handful of sizes available. The kids shoes are the worst when it comes to sizes. I've bought my 7 year old daughter shirts here in the past but they are cheaply made, they become un-hemmed, loose buttons, or the seams separate after just a few washings. Women's clothing seems to be a little better quality but seems kind of pricey for what it is. They have a decent selection of purses and accessories though. The garden section is usually well stocked and their indoor plants are as well. The staff isn't overly friendly, but not outright rude. This is where I do the bulk of my grocery shopping and I'm pretty satisfied as a customer. read more

The store is decent and clean but the employees need training about how to handle long lines. For one, need more cash registers open. Two, if you do open another register, you ask the person who has been waiting the longest to go to that register, not the last person in line who just got there. That is just flat out rude. This has happened to me several times and for this reason, I now shop at the Franklin store. Otherwise the floor staff in the various departments are helpful and courteous. A vast selection of food and products. One note and suggestion regarding theft prevention employees and this goes for all Meijer stores. They can not possibly be more obvious. Guys wandering the food aisles carrying nothing more than a bottle of hair gel in their hand really stand out, especially when the individual has a shaved head. I was in the greenwood,in 46142 store this morning. I waited over 10 minutes after a broadcast message for help in dairy, still no one came. Was wanting eggs that were not where I could get them, but could see them directly behind. I went into the worker area behind, after at least 10 minutes after the 'help in dairy' was heard. Found several associates and they all ignored me. I walked up to one associate and asked for help. His response was I'm not in dairy and cannot help. Finally, one associate came to stock cream cheese. Never came to help. I walked over to her and she totally disregarded my verbal requests for help. I had to knock on her cart to get her attention. Finally, she actually went it the back and brought out 4-5 dozens of the eggs I wanted! The customer service and product stocking has been lacking for a longtime at this store. Eve before Covid etc, I was wanting some on sale rib roast, none in the case, but I could see some behind the glass, asked the meat counter for one. In the turf war over the disposable income of Central Indiana residents, Meijer fights the good fight against retail superstore titans, Walmart and Target. However, whenever I'm in Indianapolis, I find myself going the Greenwood Meijer Superstore to pick up groceries or the tube of toothpaste or bottle of shampoo that I may have forgotten to pack. Meijer, for the most part, has pretty much the same type of superstore operation as Walmart and Target with, perhaps, a step up in the quality of its items sold over Walmart and on par with Target. Meijer's selection is good, they generally have what I'm looking for in stock, and the prices are competitive. That said, this time around, Meijer offered exceptionally good deals on liquor. I found a bottle of Basil Hayden and a bottle of Drambuie for $30 a piece, which beat the prices found in other Indy-area liquor stores by $6-10 per bottle and by at least that amount from DC-area prices where I live. Meijer had plenty of checkout lines open on my multiple visits as well as plenty of properly working self-checkout stations. I only had to wait an excessive amount of time to check out after mistakenly getting in line behind an extreme couponer. Oh yeah, they do accept coupons. We don't have a Meijer in Northern Virginia, but I wish we did. read more

Hey Meijer. Just a heads up, there's a new game in town, it's called Walmart. My suggestion would be...no one goes on break until EVERYONE in line is checked out. The two or three ladies checking your early birders out, is no where near enough. And to watch your 5-6 other employees walking around, zombie like until their time to work, is really not good business. I love Meijer, love their grocery dept. especially, it can't compare to the others, however, unless management steps up its game, it's going to be a losing battle - every time. read more

I came here to pick up my prescriptions. One of my maintenance meds is free here. So I thought I'd go ahead and do some grocery shopping. Big mistake. I normally go to Walmart for groceries. Not only did Meijer not have as big a selection on most items but nearly all the items I could find were way more expensive. Case in point: A six pack of A&W root beer at Meijer was $4.00 on sale. At Walmart the same six pack is $2.50 regular price. Walmart has two or three varieties of pork rinds. Meijer had none. They said they normally carry one brand but it was out of stock. And everything that wasn't on sale was at least a few cents higher than at Walmart. I don't really like Walmart as a company. But I'll never shop at Meijer again. Can't afford it. read more

Cashier struggled to ring me up tax exempt, then offered I could correct my transaction at customer service. Mackenzie was the best. She was super personable and helpful. She noticed that I had a camping bag in my cart and showed me some duffel bags of the same brand that were on clearance. Wouldn't say the experience was horrible but I would say they don't have a large selection of baby items. I received a gift at my baby shower and had to return it with store credit and they had no baby beds / rockers / baby dressers and had very limited everything else. I'll have to drive a distance to go to a different Meijer which is a let down and being 8 months pregnant and on bed rest.. Kind of a hassle. read more

I like Meijer produce and meat, but this location sometimes is inconsistent with quality and availability of items. watch your expiration dates and look at the berry and tomato containers closely. Sometimes the meat and produce is dynamite and other times it is mediocre. seems to depend on the weather or something. read more
