So much character in food, drinks, ambience, menu, servers, and bill book. Food and drinks are excellent here. Charcuterie meat is soft and flavorful, each accompaniment is interesting to taste by itself. Dry aged duck is amazing, unique texture, skin has herb and roast aroma, both duck and jus are flavorful. Ribeye cooked perfectly medium rare, peppercorn sauce was flavorful especially when you bite into a peppercorn. Mushrooms and black manhattan pair well with this dish. We got 3 drinks and all of them were tasty and interesting to smell. We ended the meal with brownie and vanilla ice cream. The brownie has good strong dark chocolate, the cap has interesting texture and smell. The peaty smell comes a bit after the bite so it took me by surprise. It was lovely and fun. Swanky. Sexy. Awesome. What a cool hidden gem in downtown Bothell. There is nothing else like it in the area. With sultry lighting and funky decor, there is much to look at! The craft cocktails are second to none and the bartender who was there made watching him create his art fun, lively, and very interesting. We did not have a reservation (but, it is highly recommended as they are usually packed!) but, there just happened to be an open table for about 45 minutes. They were really fantastic and let us take the table. We ordered one cocktail each and a small plate of vegetables and dip. Our waitress was very communicative with us, answered all of our questions, shared what her favorite craft cocktails are, saw us taking photos and said she loves seeing patrons taking pictures of the restaurant. Everything was exceptional from the moment we walked in until we left. 45 minutes wasn't enough time... but it was enough time for us to determine this is one of our favorites in the area and we will definitely be back very very soon. read more

Terrible customer service. I knew when I received a novel about how their time slot system works it would be a weird experience. I arrived on-time to avoid being charged a late fee. I come to find out that some other party was overstaying their allotted time slot and the staff couldn't properly follow their own policy and kick them out. Instead we were told to stand outside to wait for our table, in order to "avoid being hit by the door," when we were the only 3 people waiting in establishment. Mind you it was 37° outside and 9:40pm. This was completely unacceptable and I could not believe the way they go about their customer service and business model. They need a larger space. Glad I did not give them my business and left instead. Completely disgusted. read more

A great vibe with some great cocktails in Bothell downtown. We got a table in 40 min from walking in which meant we grabbed beer and some bites at the place opposite to it. A nice hidden Bothell gem I'd go to again for a special occasion or just drinks and apps. The ambiance and food were great but the price is fairly steep. We got the sidecar and popcorn drinks and loved the sidecar but the popcorn one not as much. For the food we loved the burrata most of all. The flavors were amazing! The cheese puffs weren't as impressive for us. Both the chicken and pork chop were very tasty. We got a dessert too but it was just ok and we both agreed we could've skipped it. I had seen some social media posts and was really excited to try Kro Bar. So we went for my husband's birthday and were not disappointed! If you are in western WA (and 21+) I'd say run, don't walk to go there...drinks, food, service (Kiera was amazing!) and vibe were all fantastic. After reading the reviews I was excited to check this place out for a night without the kids! And...It was fine. Given all the warnings and seriousness of their reservations policy, we showed up about 10 minutes early for our early evening reservation and even though I saw two open tables, including the one we eventually sat at, they made us wait outside in the freezing cold until 5 minutes after our reservation. The menu was limited in my opinion and fairly standard offerings and portions were small for the price. The food was fine if not a bit boring. Maybe my expectations were too high? Plus it was SO DARK in there I couldn't see what I was eating. Cocktails were good though. Service was also good. But for the experience overall and the menu and the must be done in 90 minutes with your table baloney I say meh. Won't be back but glad we checked it out. read more

I went to Kro Bar without any notion of what I was walking into. I saw the sign while walking in downtown Bothell, and decided to head in. Overall, it's not a place I would expect in a town like Bothell. Had a very speakeasy vibe more commonly found in Seattle. The space is narrow and long, but it didn't feel particularly crammed. Lighting was dim, it's a speakeasy feel, so kind of comes with the turf. In the summertime they open up their small patio area. Food: I wasn't blown away by the food and while the menu was defined by small plates, nothing was a "must go back" item. Probably of the bunch, I preferred the gnocchi parisienne. Drinks: The drink selection was quite nice and pretty much what you would expect from a place like this. Seems like Kro Bar is very much drinks first - food second. We had the Curtain Call and a rotating draft cocktail (the name is escaping me). Both were delicious and well done. The server, who also looked like he was tending the bar, was incredibly friendly and could craft up any particular drink that you wanted, which was really nice. The beer selection was pretty limited, but I guess as a cocktail-first bar, I wasn't expecting much. Pretty much a lager and an IPA. Would I go back? Yes, but probably just for drinks and the nice environment. I'd probably catch dinner somewhere else beforehand. read more

We went to Kro Bar at the recommendation of friends who had tried it several times already. The inside is small and quaint. Dark lighting and some very cool stuff to look at. Service was spot on the entire time. Our server made excellent recommendations for drinks and food. For food we tried the pork belly, patatas bravas, gem lettuce, gnocchi and a lamb dish special. All was excellent. I think may favorite was the lamb dish special. We shared with the table so everyone got to try everything. We had the banana cake and creme brûlée for dessert. Excellent. The drinks are very good. The bartender made us great espresso martinis and excellent manhattans. He came over to say hi and told us about a competition is had done. He was clearly very knowledgeable about liquors and mixology. Definitely recommend trying this place out but make a reservation. This is the 2nd time I've been to Krö Bar and I love it! I have now tried every small plates they have to offer except the almonds, crudités and charcuterie. Food wise, my favorites are the shrimp and grits, gnocchi and their patatas bravas! If I was a glutten, I could easily eat two of each of these. Lol! I'm also in love with their krō Old Fashioned drink! So good and a nice twist on a traditional drink. Each time I've been, I easily sip on two of them during the evening. Their banana cake WAS good enough to order two for our table! Personally, I liked the fennel crème brûlée as well. But one of my friends didn't appreciate the flavor at all - saying the fennel was too strong. I think he's wrong. Besides, he doesn't like Old Fashioneds - so he really can't be trusted. Service was great! Treated well by George, K.C. (sp?) and Cameron - who has the BEST job title ever. He's in charge of the bar and his title is Spiritual Advisor. How clever? And he's very nice to look at. Can I say that in a Bär review? Small place - capacity is only 33 people. So make reservations. Don't expect a budget experience! It's a great place to go. I have visited the KroBar twice in the last week. The first time I had happy hour the Gnocchi on the happy hour menu was delicious and my friend raved about the burger. last night i took my sister in law for a nightcap after our movie. She is from Sweden so she thought the name was interesting. There's a full explanation on the wall but A with the two dots over the A in Swedish means berries. We had a beautiful drink created by Cameron and his service Was not only fun, entertaining, but the drinks were perfectly created from a master bartender. The atmosphere is also very cozy and hip. Don't eat here!!!! Food was just okay, nothing special but the SERVICE was really BAD. Will never visit again! We were told that the staff overbooked reservations and asked us to leave after an hour at the table. They just didn't ask us but said we HAD to leave because they had a reservation in 30 minutes. I'm pretty impressed. I found this place at Open table. And I wasn't expecting anything from a bar in Bothell and this place amazed me. Probably my favorite place in the area. Cocktails are good, service is really awesome and the ambience is nice. The place felt very busy around 7pm so I recommend reservations, but after that it had open tables. Food was good too! I wished we had some space for desserts because it looked really good. I'm really hoping all the success for the owners cause I love enjoying a good place near home and in the area is very hard to find similar business like that. read more

This place is just down the road from me, and after a few months i finally got around to trying it out. It is SMALL max 49 people occupancy, so we were really lucky to get a table after 20 minutes without reservation on a Saturday night. They had a heater just outside the door but it was so frigid out we decided to wait inside for the last few minutes. I HIGHLY recommend getting a reservation otherwise you may be waiting upwards of an hour. Our host was very communicative and checked in to let us know the status of our wait several times. The decor is unique and gives speakeasy mixed with three Broomsticks in Harry Potter vibes. The menu is limited, but delicious. We had the cheese puffs, which is a misleading name. I thought they were going to be similar to a fried cheese curd. It was better though, a plate of fluffy slightly cheesey biscuits and mustard butter (delicious). We also had the pork chop, which was probably the best I've ever had in my life. Each of us had a drink (the Silent Cry, and the PSL V3 of Aqua Arden's. Both were strong, beautifully crafted, and delicious. Our server was charismatic, knowledgeable, and gave great recommendations. I forgot his name, but he was a young man with long curly dark hair in a ponytail. We ordered Chocolate Crémeaux for dessert. It was delicious and rich, but I had to stop myself from laughing out loud when it was set in front of us because it was, and I'm not exaggerating, literally two bites for 10 dollars. I suppose any more would have been too much of a good thing. Final thoughts: don't come hungry, broke, or without a reservation and you will have an excellent time! read more

The saddest thing about the Kro bar is that my meal and drink had to end. I cannot speak more Highly of this gem of a place - the service was genuine, kind and heartfelt - you were instantly welcomed. The drinks were superb, interesting, complex and absolutely mind blowingly delicious. The food was next level fantastic - I don't think I've ever had a more delicious piece of toast. That sounds ridiculous, but the brioche was THAT GOOD. We had the parsnip soup (remarkable), curried prawns with butternut risotto (mouth watering and I didn't want it to end) and a slice of the brioche. EVERYTHING about the Kro bar is an absolute gem and I'm sad I live an hour away - but this place is worth every second of the drive. Hands down one of the best places I've visited all year.
