I was there for Thanksgiving buffet and it was awful. The prime rib was okay, but the turkey was dry, and the stuffing was nasty: wet, flavorless, flabby. If there were cranberry sauce, I couldn't find it. They were using ice cream scoops for the mashed potatoes and yams, and the scoops were too short-handled-- the potatoes and yams were all over the handles and thumb-levers and it was messy and gross. Presentation was really lacking, and I don't mean from an aesthetic point of view-- I mean that they didn't replenish the trays when they got low, so things became overcooked and dried out. For example, the eggplant rollatini had crusty dry edges, and the fish was just dessicated. Totally unappetizing. Dessert was a real disappointment. There were maybe two slices each of apple and pumpkin pie, gone as soon as anyone entered the room, a quarter of a bowl of fruit salad sitting in lots of juice so everything was all wet, a picked-over tray of those tasteless Italian cookies, and that was it. There was a huge, beautiful carrot cake but it hadn't been sliced, so I guess it was just there to admire and not eat? No one got to have any. Maybe it was decorative, like those plastic fruits your grandma had on her kitchen table? The wait staff were nice, so I'll give them that, but... for $25, this was waaaayyy overpriced for the quality of the food we were given. read more

We've been to Kristy's for breakfast, lunch and dinner and the food is always good. They have steak fries which we prefer to the typical crunchy fries most diners serve these days. Early bird specials are a great deal. read more

Kristy's is by no means a diner.... If you're looking for restaurant quality food please make sure you stop by for a meal. Their old fashioned French toast is mouth watering. The Mediterranean Panini and Santa Fe Salad... Amazing! The Prime Rib... Magnificent! We were just there for Mother's Day Buffet and all I can say is the choices were not only plentiful, but rich: 6 salads, soup, prime rib, ham and turkey carving stations, 3 pasta stations, a potato bar, chicken Frances, seafood diavlo, flounder, veggies, rice and let's not forget the Viennese table with 6 desserts and coffee.... All fresh. All tasty. All absolutely wonderful. Best of all, for less than $30 a person.... You couldn't beat the price, the friendly service and the quality of the food. Been here numerous times since I moved to Forked River. This afternoon I ordered NY strip steak, medium rare, French fries(crisp) and corn on the cob. The corn was water soaked , the French fries were mushy, and the steak, although cooked as ordered, was chewy. At less than halfway through the meal I called the waiter over to bring it to his attention, the waiter offered to recook the fries! At this point, I went to the cashiers station to talk to the manager. He offered that the steak was cooked as ordered, which was never a question, and that it had been served earlier without complaint. My comments were about the entire meal, which was never addressed. The end result was being charged approximately half the cost of the meal. Will I return to Kristy's, probably. Certainly not to order beef! read more

This place used to be known as Ocean Breeze Diner, they changed to Kristy's in 2011. The food is very good and ample portions for the price. I usually visit with the family on weekends and really enjoy the specials which include everything. I wish they would offer a little more variety on the specials, but I do enjoy what is available. Quality food is worth the price. Especially down the shore as others have said, it's often hard to find great food. The service is also good which is a plus, but summers can get busy and crowded. I have to say the only complaint I have here is the dust. The window ledges are dusty and I really feel if you dusted window ledges and swept the floors between shifts, it would make a huge difference. Recently came for dinner, and there was a dead fly on window sill. Although, I realize flys are everywhere, just a simple thorough check on these little things really would make a difference. We like your food, and will return. I just feel having clean window sills and sweeping the floor and dusting condiments would make it that much better. read more

Good for lunch, bad for dinner. Been here many times for lunch and it's been good. Probably 4 stars. Went for a late dinner with the wife, awful. Ordered a Pot Roast, I know, don't order Pot roast at a diner, I agree, but I wanted a open faced roast beef sandwich and they didn't offer it, so Pot roast it was. Who puts cinnamon in a brown gravy for four small slices of disgusting of what they said was Pot roast? Cinnamon? Really? Not everything described on the menu came with the meal either. When we made it home I said to my wife, I was supposed to get potato pancakes with the meal, never came and truth be told I was so put off at how awful the meal was I forgot about it. Probably won't be back for lunch, won't even think about dinner. Yuck. read more

My wife and I have been here for breakfast a few times and never had a bad meal until this past Sunday. We went with her brother and her mom and the service was very good in the beginning. The first thing that came out was the French Onion Soup with my brother-in-law ordered. There was like not cheese in it and he asked the waiter that he wanted more cheese in it. It came back and the look was much better and definitely looked like a French Onion Soup. But once he started eating is the soup looked like chicken broth, definitely not a French Onion. I immediately thought that they placed the cheese on top and placed it in the microwave... My mother in law had some kind of burger patty melt and she said it was good. My brother-in-law had a BLT and he said it was fine. My wife had the breakfast sampler (eggs, bacon, sausage, and pancakes). The pancakes were good, but she didn't seem to like the the scrambled eggs. I had an omelette which was good as well until i started eating the potatoes. I tried picking up a piece and notice that the entire bottom of it was burnt. I requested to the waiter that it was burnt and would like another order of it. So, the potatoes came out and it looked like it wasn't cook. It was white. I took a bite of it and it was so cold. I mentioned to the waiter that it was cold. He took it back and when it came back, the color was the same and it was steaming out! I was expecting it to be placed back on the pan to cook it more, but nope! It was definitely microwaved! I would definitely not go back here again for awhile until the chefs stop being lazy and cook the food the proper way. I am not sure if I would blame the waiter though, but who knows. Maybe he was the one who put it in the microwave. But anyways, someone was definitely being lazy and doesn't care at all. read more

I've been here at least a dozen times and have always enjoyed the atmosphere and my meals. However today my family and I came in for lunch today and out of the five of us only one of us enjoyed our meal. The food was very bland. I ordered the new egg white guac omelette, but when it came out the avocado was not yet ripe and my omelette included the stem of the tomato that they had used. I will be coming back as they have never failed to impress me up until today and I'm willing to give them another chance. My husband and I had been here a few times and it was pretty good. After this last visit, we will not be returning. My husband tried to order a steak. The waitress looked in both directions and then discreetly shook her head no. He then tried to order the ribs. The same thing happened. He looked at the waitress and said, "How about a burger? Is a burger safe?" She said sure and moved on to me. I honestly cannot tell you why we didn't take the hint and leave. I ordered the chicken breast Panini. I asked for a side salad instead of fries. The food came. My husband said the burger was fine. Not good, not bad, but fine. I got my Panini. No fries or salad were with it. I brought it to the attention of our waitress. She apologized and said she would be right back with it. She proceeded to walk back and forth to other tables. Halfway done with my sandwich, I was able to get her attention. I asked again about the salad. She said she thought she brought it to me. I assured her she hadn't. I finished my sandwich. She walked over and asked if we needed anything else. I told her to take the side salad off of the bill and bring it to us so we could leave. She asked if I wanted it to go. I gave her a look of disbelief and asked her if I had asked for a to go salad. Stopped there last night around 7:30 for dinner. The waitress couldn't be nicer. The cream of chicken soup was good, the salad was good. That being said I ordered the special which consisted of chicken parmesan, eggplant rollentini and lasagna. The ricotta cheese in the lasagna tasted and smelled like an old refrigerator. The lasagna was bad. Absolutely disgusting and completely inedible. I was offered to order something else but quite honestly, if their special f the day was bad, there was no way I was going to try anything else. I will never eat there again. Had my friend's bridal shower here. The staff made sure we had all we needed and did a beautiful job with decorations and table settings. They even wore ties to match the Brides colors! Just a cute little touch that meant a lot. Great food and an all around lovely experience. read more

Today, my brother, mom and I said let's go to Kristy's. big mistake. Never again will we go. Our waitress messed up just so bad. She asked if I wanted lemon in my diet coke and I said no thank you. What do I get? A lemon. Whe we ordered salads, my mom and I said no onions. Well, we see her picking the onions out on her way over to our table. My mom and I still found onions. And worst of all, we saw her eating our bread when she was bringing it out :O. And, she brought me someone elses order. She did that twice. And she didn't check on us for at least 20 minutes. I really wanted a refill, and every time she was near us, she went the other way. This was so not worth our 48 dollars. read more

Goulash special is soooo good! I wish they had it on the regular menu. The waitresses are very clean, friendly, and professional. Often you go to diners where they reek of smoke, but not these ladies. The food is pretty good and so is the coffee. They even have a fancy lil coffee bar. There is a nice banquet hall with good pricing and a cozy fireplace room if you prefer the ambiance over the regular diner area. read more
