On National Donut Day I wanted to treat my students, my co-teacher, and myself to donuts but couldn't get to the store so I ordered delivery online. I stood in a line to order my donut, but then when I got near the counter, the staff informed me there was a separate line for national donut day, which was an unmarked table off to the side. So now I stood in a second line at the unmanned table as people confusedly milled around the store trying to figure out what each line was for. Representing 2019 in alphabet series, K is for Krispy Kreme. I visited the Rockville Krispy Kreme a few times mainly when I lived in Wheaton 2017-2020. Donuts are always good. Staff is pretty good at this location although had some issues with the app and getting the deals, and the staff wasn't always the most knowledgeable about this. One time in March 2019, I had a St. Patty's day deal like a BOGO, which I had brought to movie theater for a woman I liked, who later became a girlfriend. In February 2024, I brought my new at that time & still current girlfriend (going strong) here for another deal. Been here a few other times. I do wish there was a Krispy Kreme near where I live now. Coincidentally, yesterday my friend asked me if I was taking advantage of some Krispy Kreme deal, and I asked him about it. He said BOGO dozen. I told him I need 24 donuts like a hole in my head, which he lol on the text. He said split with my g/f. I said she & I need 12 donuts each like holes in our head or 13 & 11, 14 & 10, or any other combination. I also mentioned no Krispy Kreme near my home or where I'll be today. This location is the worst. I try ordering to pick up from the drive thru but many times I find cones blocking the drive thru and a few times I had to back up , driving backwards to get out of the drive thru cause customers arguing at the window with the unhelpful staff was taking so long. Be careful ordering online cause they never fill orders , even when I order an hour ahead of time and they are paid. Last time I had to fight to get the donuts I paid for had my order # and several other customers behind me had the same problem. Avoid this store. It does not deserve to use the Krispy Kreme name as a franchise. I had two, old, hard doughnuts in the six pack I bought on Friday, 9/11/26/ at 7:30 a.m. It was early in the day that there is absolutely no excuse for serving me stale doughnuts that should have been tossed in the trash the night before. In addition, the store failed to scan my app to give me reward points for my purchase and, as I discovered when I got home, failed to put a receipt in my bag so that I could scan it to receive my reward points. I contacted them a second time before they finally credited me the reward points that they owed. This store has gone downhill in the one-plus year since I posted my five-star review. I have gone three times in the past year, and there has always been some issue. This store needs better quality control and better management. 11.16.23 I recently tried to redeem a half dozen glazed donuts for my birthday. I pulled out the app and was informed that the reward was not loaded. I found the email that was sent to show them the coupon, but they would not honor it. They said I had to contact the corporate office. I told my friend and she said that they should have done that for me. On top of that, the morning I came in there was another customer who was being helped before me. I saw other staff working the drive thru and conveyor belt, but no one acknowledged me. This is my favorite place for donuts---I've been here many times, always using the very convenient drive-through. Prices have increased over the past year so now I only buy half a dozen at a time...I'd recommend the chocolate iced cream filled and glazed. If the neon sign is lit above the menu board that means fresh donuts are available and those are the absolute best. Service is usually very efficient and friendly but sometimes you have to ask for napkins or a receipt (if you want one). Today the associate at the window was really on top of things and gave me napkins and a receipt without my asking--I was super happy which prompted me to write this review finally. Employee Apathy, Sloppy Donuts, and Questionable Cleanliness. Corporate Krispy Kreme should be very, very concerned about this store because it is causing considerable harm to the brand. The shear, palpable apathy among the workers was inescapable. I stood in line at the front counter along with 4 other customers and we were completely ignored. One poor employee was running back and forth to fill drive through orders but the three employees making donuts wouldn't even look at us (one of whom was the manager- inexplicable). We finally had to call out to them and practically beg them to come and take our orders. I've never seen such pure apathy for customers. Then, the donuts were something else. The employees must have either had no training or they simply didn't have any pride in their work, because the donuts were the sloppiest made Krispy Kreme donuts I've seen in 20 years- messed up frosting, inconsistent toppings, upside down, etc. and some were even cold- cold! Now, why would a donut be cold? The only explanation is that they were refrigerated overnight to preserve them. In other words, they were using DAY OLD donuts. And, add on top of the employee/managerial apathy and sloppy donuts a quite dirty interior and exterior. I wasn't even sure the store was open because it was so dark inside, dirty floors, carts of donuts and equipment all over the place...honestly, I'm not even sure how they are complying with Maryland health codes. I haven't gone on a donut run in forever and I'm so glad I did on Saturday night. We used to live not far from there and it was our favorite place to go. The cashier was very friendly and it made us so happy. Virtually no wait time, donuts were fresh, and I had no complaints. I appreciated the hand sanitizer placed right near the entrances as well.
