Delicious daily home made vegetarian food with warm and welcoming vibes. Great people and wonderful atmosphere. Many students from UF come here to eat and they provide seconds if you would like. The salad dressing was out of this world and really the best I have ever had. I think they put ghee and herbs in it and we bought a bottle to carry home. What a wonderful alternative as it is so nutritious and the food is prayed over and blessed. Loved it.

Krishna lunch is a UF tradition amongst students and should be shared with those at UF and those who are just visiting as well. They offer delicious options with a different dish every day of the week M-F. They offer vegan options as well. It's only $5 for a plate and if you're still hungry you can grab some more food at no additional cost! All of it goes to great people and a great cause, I highly recommend Krishna Lunch.

I was HUGELY disappointed in the Krishna Lunch. My husband has been talking about Krishna Lunch for as long as I have known him like it was the greatest thing ever. He says they were his sole real meal for lunch everyday going back to the 70's. He has fond memories of how it was just a dollar, "suggested donation," and if you did not have a dollar, it was still cool to eat their lunch if you sat and listen to their teachings while you ate. And he must have listened a lot, because he knows an awful lot about Krishna Consciousness. He is like an undercover Krishna. He even does the Krishna chant and dance. And he does it often. So when we finally happen to be on campus between 12 and 1, and close enough to partake, I was expecting peace, and love, and food, and community - I was expecting nothing less than a religious experience. What I got was a HUGE disappointment. The first disappointment was the sticker shock. $5 each for lunch, and it is not a suggested donation; they are charging $5 for lunch. Then there was the food itself. Yes it was vegetarian, and while it was actually a lot better than what Jeff described, it was not a good value for $5. If this was a restaurant I would be indignant. They have little or no fixed costs to pass on, they are not paying the people dishing this food out, they have a location that is PRICELESS when it comes to access to students, and this is what I get for five dollars? This must be a CASH COW for this church! Where is all the money going? Second disappointment was the lack of love. The volunteer kids were not giving out food with love; they were slopping it onto plates like they work for a boss they hate. I should see love in their eyes and faces. They should exude the peace of Krishna Consciousness. Instead they were like employees released from the DMV for not showing enough enthusiasm. I was shocked! Third disappointment; where was the out-reach? Where was the teaching? There was supposed to be a guy in a flowing Monk robe, with paint on his forehead, leading a meditation or teaching me interdependent co-arising, or something. I did not get any feeling of spirituality. All I got was a feeling that I was forking out money that is not going back into the spiritual community. I do not know where it is going, but it is not going into outreach from what I could see. I was horrified. My husband tried to defend them for a bit, but eventually, even he had to agree, what we experienced today did not represent the love, values, or spirituality that he has been describing for more than 35 years. He said, "I learned and grew by sitting here, listening." He believes he would never had pursued Transcendental Meditation, or his time at the Plumb Village in France, or the Zen Center in San Francisco, or his time at Esalen, if it had not been for those seminal experiences he had at the Krishna Lunch when he was a child. Based on Jeff's memories, I expected help to experience my own spiritual nature, but I left feeling like I just gave money to one of those prosperity televangelists. What a disappointment! Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare See, I know the Mantra by heart. Who do I see about getting those brain cells back? I hope Krishna Lunch finds the path back to the values and Spirituality upon which it was founded.

    Karma free spaghetti goodness.

When walking in, they had some old school Bollywood music videos. My order was taking quickly and I waited for about 10 minutes for my order. Once I got home, the food was still piping hot. I ordered the chana masala, which comes with basmati rice, and an order of samosas. The samosas were perfectly cooked and seasoned. They had a hint of spice but tolerable. The two sauces - tamarind and chutney were so good with the samosas. I wish I ordered more. The chana masala was very tasty, I went with medium heat since it was first time eating here. The spice was really good, I could've went hotter though. The masala was buttery and delightful. I could've drank the sauce it was that good. The chickpeas were cooked perfectly as well. The flavor profile of the dish was tangy but creamy. I wish I had some chicken tikka to throw in there. Overall a great take out meal and great portion sizes where you can stretch out these meals.

Our drinks were served quickly-I got a glass of sangria which was crisp and light, not overly sweet. The food was freshly prepared and served hot. Everyone raved about their choices. I got the vegan enchiladas and my husband got the nachos. Both were delicious. The enchiladas were topped with fresh shredded cabbage and tomatoes which gave enchiladas a nice crunch in each bite. The nachos were light-not overly drenched in cheese or cheese sauce like you find in most pubs nowadays. You could taste the vegetables. The dining room is cozy with a good view of the street. I may not know the name of everything I ate, but I do know that it was all absolutely delicious. They were clearly working with a small staff for a very busy lunch crowd, but they did a wonderful job keeping everything stocked, clean, and running smoothly. The hospitality was warm and welcoming, which always makes the experience even better. The variety really stood out. There was a great salad selection, fresh fruit, and several desserts to choose from. On the hot bar were multiple dishes including veggie samosas, butter chicken, a few different curries, warm naan, and a green paneer dish (likely palak paneer) that was especially good. One of my favorite bites was a rich, creamy korma, and the rice pudding (kheer) was the perfect way to finish the meal. This wasn't our first time dining here, and it's been consistently very good every visit. If you're looking for a flavorful, satisfying Indian lunch with plenty of options, this buffet is definitely worth it. We'll absolutely be back.

I recently visited Ammrit Indian Cuisine and had an overall positive experience. It's easy to see…read morewhy it's popular in the area. The menu offers a wide range of traditional Indian dishes, and I really appreciate that they allow you to customize the spice level to your preference. That makes it accessible whether you're new to Indian food or someone who enjoys a little heat. The daily lunch buffet is also a big plus, especially if you want to sample different dishes in one visit. The food itself is good and well-prepared, with solid flavors and generous portions. That said, it does feel like the kitchen leans toward catering to the general market. The spice profiles are toned down, and while that makes the dishes approachable, it slightly softens the authenticity you might expect from a more traditional Indian restaurant. One subtle indicator of that broader appeal is the wine list -- something you don't often see emphasized in more classic, traditional Indian establishments. That being said, Ammrit strikes a reasonable balance. It offers familiar, comfortable Indian cuisine that works well for a wide audience while still delivering recognizable flavors and quality ingredients. If you're looking for dependable Indian food in South Daytona with flexible spice options and a welcoming atmosphere, it's definitely worth a visit.
