I don't understand how any place can justify charging $7 for such a small "acai bowl". The service is ok, and it taste ok. But NOT better than Jamba Juice or samba smoothie ( both in Santee as well). Now I know why the place was dead the 3 times I've been here. I don't see them being able to sustain themselves much longer. Santee is a family town. Families have budgets. So after picking up my mother at the airport at 8:30pm (she's here from northern ca) I asked her what she was craving and she said she only wanted a smoothie so I was like cool I've seen a video of a nice smoothie place in santee and it even says on yelp they close at 9:30pm so we rush to Frutiza and arrived at 9pm on the dot, I looked at the hours on the door and says they close at 9pm. I open the door and the owner welcomed us in. I told him I felt bad and it was ok we could leave we just thought they closed later but he was happy to have us there and willing to make anything we order. So we just settled for 2 smoothies and he gave us samples of the fresas con crema which is to die for we have never tasted anything so delicious before lol. Annnnnnd he gave us samples of I think they're called mangonadas ? Anyway, my point is that the owner and the staff went out of their way to make us feel VERY welcomed EVEN after they closed and even went out of their way to let us try different things. JUST REMEMBER THEY CLOSE AT 9pm so don't go in there after that..... It's about time to update my review. Same great fresh food and same great staff. Hadn't been in for a while since I don't work over there anymore and it was nice to be greeted by summer and miguel. They're 2 of my favorites always super kind and actually have a personality unlike some of these places now a days. Some employees swear they're doing you a favor by doing THEIR job. Not here tho. I was excited to find this local fruit and sandwich place, because I normally drive all the way to Senor Mango's in North Park - (their fruits always have perfect ripeness) for my fruit salads. On my first visit, I had the fruit salad and a torta. The fruit salad was very good, except the mango was extremely over-ripe. The torta was pretty big, but it was mostly bread. It had very little meat and veggies on it. If they cut the bun in half, and use the same amount of fillings, it would be better. Several months later, I stopped again for a fruit salad. I asked if the mango was over-ripe, and the girl gave me a piece to try, which was fine, but my salad had mostly over-ripe mango again. I also decided to get a torta, forgetting about my first experience. Again, way too much bread for the amount of meat & veggies. 3rd visit - mango still overly ripe. 4th visit- mango under-ripe. I also had watermelon, pineapple and strawberries on all my fruit salads, and those fruits were mostly fine. read more

So....this is our 3rd trip here just this week. We have ordered a big fruit bowl and it was so goood. Tgrg have good options on smoothies, I tried the pineapple with mango and it was delicious. They use fresh fruit and we're hooked in coming here. My daughters really loved their shakes and smoothies as well. We have gift cards for other places but I don't think we will be using them any time soon. They're customer service is great and they're generous with their portions. They have the best torta! You can add fruit to your sandwich with a fruit drink. Love their watermelon and mango juice. Every is made fresh! Gotta try. The lobby has sitting but limited. My new favorite place. Used to go somewhere else and it was a Sunday I had an intense kraving for a torta and chamango but my usual spot was closed. So I looked up a different spot and found Kravings-and they open! Got a bomb torta cubana and chamango on a hot day. Totally hit the spot. Been coming here ever since.
