This great lunch spot inside Lexington market is a must visit. I got the gobbler for only $13 and it was packed with meat. The best thing about it is they let you customize what kind of bread, cheese and condiments you can add to your sandwich. They also freshly carved the turkeys right in front of you. Krause's was a quick spot to grab a fresh sandwich while in Lexington Market. I ordered a Fresh Carved Turkey on pumpernickel with pepper jack, lettuce, tomato, spicy mustard and pepper. Price came to $9.95. The sandwich was stacked high with freshly carved turkey. Heck of a portion! Overall it wasn't the best sandwich I've had, but far from the worst. I decided to give the Thanksgiving sandwich a try given it was very unique. The sandwich had a layer of cranberry sauce and stuffing and was stacked with turkey! For $12, this was such a a great deal, I opted for potato bread and although it was good I think it was a bit too soft and the texture was a bit off of the overall sandwich. I spiced it up with Salt, Pepper, Old Bay, avocado and bacon. It was and is one of the best chicken salad sandwiches I have ever had. The quality of the chicken is immediately apparent and the flavor is really delicious. To top it off, prices are well in my range. The turkey dinner consist of sliced turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes and green beans. You get a nice portion for $16.91. The meal can use a little more flavor or just a bit more salt and pepper. Krause is a common German surname and American soldiers in WWII would refer to the Nazi enemy as Krause sometimes. Anyway, Krauses Lite Fare makes amazing turkey sandwiches. Get a basic one, or step up your game and grab a Thanksgiving Sandwich (juicy carved turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce). I recommend getting it on a roll with mayonnaise and salt/pepper. Or, just get a straight turkey dinner plate even if it's not November. The prices are fair and service is relatively quick. It lacked seasonings, celery and onion, like in previous sandwiches I have had there. And the cranberry sauce also lost the good flavor. The turkey here is pretty solid and it's the only place in Lexington Market that sells roast turkey sandwiches - none of that cold cut stuff. The owner makes sure that his turkey is high quality - they roast the birds every morning. If you talk to the him, he'll tell you how he has perfected the roasting process and how even 5 minutes over cooked makes a huge difference. I have to respect a guy to cares that much about roasting his birds properly. I got the Thanksgiving Sandwich which was delicious. The turkey wasn't too dry and there was just enough stuffing and cranberry sauce. The stand is easily accessed if you come in through Faidleys (it's to the immediate left when you enter the main market through there). Lines always move quickly. Chicken salad (I haven't tried it yet ) I will taste it tomorrow. I poured off most of the broth, in the chicken noodle soup, it was salty. The noodles & vegetables were good. I also decided to get 3 turkey dinners w/mashed potatoes, green beans, dressing, & gravy. The portions were large-enough for meals, fresh, and hot. Mom & mom-in-law both enjoyed their dinners.
