I came here on recommendation from one of my girlfriends. We tried the sea glass art class and Kiara was so amazing !! I had so much fun having the creative freedom to make whatever I wanted. Kiara provided samples of art to take inspiration from and provided all the necessary materials. She was such a joy to spend the afternoon with! I can't stop raving about how much fun I had and will definitely have to come back to try some of her other classes.

The circle is the technique sampler used to learn the basic process and three of my creations done during a single class.

Went here for my birthday with two of my besties for a resin jewelry class. Location is directly across the street from the underground Nuuanu and Beretania municipal parking lot, so parking was a breeze. The shop itself was lively and inviting with displays of the other types of craft classes offerings. There is a large table in the center of the shop where patrons can socialize and design their art. The husband and wife owners led the class and were so warm, encouraging, and explained the process very well. I'm not the best artist, but with my besties who are and I feel that both novices and artists would find the class engaging. It was easy to get your creative juices flowing with the plethora of add in and mold design options and the wire frames for pendants and earring available. For this class, we did a trial mold to learn the basic technique first, then we were allowed to choose what combination of 3 items to create (1 set of earrings counted as 1 item, and you could also choose pendants or keychains). It was a relaxed atmosphere with good music and opportunity to interact with our neighbors. We even sang happy birthday to the girl who was celebrating her 10th birthday there. All in all, I highly recommend this business for the unique experience and cherished memories. I will definitely be back.

Ever got pissed about BS work stuff? (SMASH that monitor!)…read more That guy who cut you off (without blinkers) near University, have you foaming at the mouth? (THROW that glass tea cup!) That lying, stink breath, snake of a property manager who takes weeks to respond & overbilled you, make you see red? (SWING that metal pipe!) You ever feel so angry, you want to scream and break sh*t without someone calling the cops? (SLEDGEHAMMER that plate!). (All of this is being done legally & safely, of course, with safety suits and helmets/gloves, if you decide to drop some $$ and spend some time here.) There is a good selection of shattery breakables to choose. We were given 45 minutes but the two of us finished in about 20 (I guess we had a lot to unleash!). It gets hot in the helmet/suit, especially when you're expelling all that rage, so expect a good workout (cathartic even!) Call/check out their site for discounts/promos (including Kama'aina). Parking: lots of garage parking around the Ward/Kaka'ako area, if you don't mind a short warmup walk over.

Tried Out a Rage Room for the First Time - Totally Worth It!…read more I've been hearing about this rage room for a while and finally decided to check it out. I called ahead to ask about any discounts for locals or birthdays, and they told me they do offer a local discount with valid ID -- nice little bonus! They also said they had availability that day, so I figured, why not? The whole experience was super satisfying. Ever feel like breaking something at work but don't want to get fired? Break n Anger is the place to let that urge out safely and legally. Here's how it works: You get to choose 2 items from the top shelf and 5 items each from shelves 2, 3, and 4 -- so about 17 items total to smash. After signing the waivers, you suit up in a jumpsuit, gloves, and a helmet. They offer earplugs too, but I skipped those -- the sound of breaking stuff is half the fun. Honestly, the time flew by -- I went all in for 10 minutes and it felt like seconds. I probably should've paced myself, but I really wanted to let the rage out. No regrets though -- it was super fun, and I can totally see this being a great team-building activity. I'm definitely planning to go back and try the premium items next time!

We were looking for something fun to do with our daughter on the long Labor Day weekend especially…read morebecause we rarely get weekends off together, so we wanted to make it as special as possible. She loves the idea of escape rooms, but panics when we're in them LOL! I scoured the internet for something we haven't done before and all the escape rooms were either too pricey, wouldn't explain how to escape when we inevitably didn't breakout, or didn't have private escape rooms. Then Google suggested Scaventours which in all my days of searching never appeared! Scaventours is on the ground floor of Marriot Waikiki. Opposite side of the hotel from the Valet. The side with the tour bus pickup. The sign says they're open daily from 9-7 I believe, but you can look up the games and book online. We booked our game morning of and all went well. There's no parking, so we parked at the Zoo like they suggested. We parked at the back half of the zoo (Mauka side) and just followed that road straight pass Denny's. That path lead us straight to the correct hotel entrance to find Scaventours easily. ALSO, the Zoo Parking wasn't taking debit cards and my husband only had a $10. He paid for 2 hours but the machine didn't give change so we got ripped. Be aware of that when parking there. After reading up on the games, I decided we would do Kanaloa's Curse. A scavenger hunt that stayed INSIDE the hotel with various puzzles fit for ages 6-11 even though some of them had me stumped. I appreciate that the game isn't timed and that there was an option to stay inside the hotel because I'm not trying to take my 7yo scavenger hunting on the streets of Waiks. It was super reasonably priced at $23 for my husband and I and $14 for my daughter. We were given the map and a clipboard of puzzles, complimentary pens and candy and we were off. The hunt took us through the ground floor of the hotel finding different things and solving puzzles. It took us just about an hour with my 7yo finding everything and doing every puzzle, so it was PERFECT for her!! At the end, we returned to the store, unlocked the treasure, she got some prizes, and we took photos with the mascot raccoon statue. She was immediately begging to do the rest of the hunts. Successful find both Scaventours and the actual scaventour!!!!

Painting in Kaneohe, Hawaii…read more.. Paint nights have been happening for years and this is the first time that I got a chance to experience one. Thanks to Jessica and Jules for planning this group activity and organizing us! Before Jessica moves to the mainland, there were a few things that she wanted to do together and one of them was painting. She selected this picture of a waterfall with a flowering tree and butterflies because the other pictures looked "touristy"... haha! The venue (The Beach House) was a local bar in my neighborhood. It was convenient for me since I live and work in Kaneohe. I knew where it was (next to Windward Mall) and that there was free parking...and a restroom with curtains instead of walls to designate separate stalls! Tip: Just lock the door for privacy! Don't let anyone else in with you, ladies! Our instructor, Kate, was awesome! She was so bubbly, informative, and reassuring. I have never painted before and I have always wanted to try. I was afraid of the outcome...lol! This was a super great experience! All of the supplies were provided. Kate and her assistant, Lei, set up and cleaned up for us! We had a blast - and a finished product to remind us of a happy memory. Gosh, Jessica... I'm starting to really miss you already... waaahhh! (Crying a waterfall now...) =( P.S. Thanks to Jules for her patience in walking me through the online registration. I couldn't have done it without you! P.P.S. We were given a stamp card - wow - a Loyalty Program... shall we go again?

One of my friends had them come out for her birthday and we play for about 3 hours at Sand Island. At first, I was like come on really... How fun could this be? But I gotta tell you, it was a lot of fun. And a lot tiring as well lol. I mean you're running around trying to hit people and not get hit at the same time. I hate to admit it but I was one of the few that got hit in the face lol... So pretty much she called them and made an appointment. They come and set everything up. I mean everything. All the props, masks, bows and arrows. There was two of them and they showed us how to play and officiated all the games. They were really nice. Pricing is $400 but for 3 hours but we had about 20 people show up who wanted to play so it was only $20 per person. Only 12 can play at a time which is 6x6. I feel 6 on 6 is good, you don't want more than that. The field can get pretty small with more people. The concept is pretty much like dodge ball but with arrows. I highly recommend them and go check them out. www.archeryhawaii.com

Upon walking in, we were greeted by her pig and her little fur babies which we LOVED!! Her house is beautiful and so welcoming- you feel like home when you're there and when she's talking to us and teaching us, it feels like you and your friends are chatting and catching up. She has this personality that draws you in and has so many stories about her adventures! Our class consisted of 5 people including my husband and I, so fairly small and we made 3 different types of poke, deluxe spam musubi, coconut shrimp and coconut butter mochi. All of them are drool worthy and what I think was amazing is that she shares little tips and tricks about what she puts in her food to make it even better! Honestly, the ahi poke that we made was the best I've ever had and it cuts and melts in your mouth like butter!!! Along with all of Linda's wisdom about cooking, she also teaches you about local Hawaiian culture, words and history about how each food became what it is today. All in all, we are going to come back to take another class! We loved the atmosphere, the delicious food, and the rich history that makes Hawaii Hawaii. The two kids that were working seemed almost bothered and uninterested in us and it was like everything was a chore -- from simply telling us about the waiver, to "welcoming" us, to introducing us to the room, to giving us clues, to "congratulating" us at the end. Everything seemed forced, like we made them wake up early or something, and they could barely crack a smile. At the end, we got a half hearted "come back soon." No thanks. I also played the room we had today before, and it seemed like they toned things down a bit and it was just meh. The first time I played this room we needed more than the 3 clues and barely made it out at the end. This time, we made it out in less than 30 mins lol. We're not THAT good. The room was mediocre, the staff is mediocre, and sadly this place has gone downhill. Go to the Ala Moana escape room if you want a great experience and a staff that makes you feel like they want your business.
