I've been driving past this place for years and I will continue to do just that. I had a Headlight that was intermittently going on and off on one side of my E class. So I went over to Kraft. Upon entering I had a simple question about if light repairs were done at the shop.receptionists attitude came off like I wasn't supposed to be asking that question. Mind you I have never stepped foot in that shop so I didn't have a menu on what service's they provide. Behind the receptionist was a Hispanic male that quickly interrupted me while I was trying to explain the issue I was having with the headlight. That individual might have possibly been the Boss but he was acting very Un boss like with the way he was asking me about what type of buld does the headlight use. I told him that they were l E.D bulbs and told him that when I inspected the wiring to the headlight while touching the wire . The lights would go on and off. He continued with what sounded like a rehearsed explanation to skip all possible logical reasons of why the light was having the issue. He seemed pretty comfortable in his chair behind the desk .So it was strange that I had to ask him to actually take a look at the headlight all the explanation and his counter explanations were getting to be a bit tiring. He made his way outside to the car and didn't even inspect the wiring that was in plain site after I popped the hood. According to him the whole headlight on that side had to be replaced with a new one. Mind you that the high beam on that side was working it was just the low beam that was acting funny but His advice was that I should pay $3500 U S dollars to replace the whole headlight assembly. As soon as I saw that This shop would rather rip me off rather than trouble shoot a possible wire harness issue I thought in my mind this place is just as bad as the Dealership! I took my car to a very good Independent shop where after I explained the issue went straight to the wire harness for the light and easily fixed the issue for $150. Compared to $3500 .00 Greed is the best way to keep good Customers away from You're Shop. When I take my car to any shop I do my research So when I go to a shop and all my Red flags are being checked off right at the reception desk. Just replaced the headlights and taillights of my car here. I always go to dealer to bring in my benz, but this place provides professional services for a more affordable prices. Before coming here I spoke to Pablo through Yelp and was able to have most of my questions answered before coming to the place, which not many other shops do. Took me an hour to drive there and would be preferred to have my questions answered before going there. All in all, amazing services from the reception, owner and Pablo himself. Full disclosure: I waited a week from my appointment in case anything went wrong. Nothing went wrong. Yes, Kraft German Auto does appointments and honors them, just like the dealer. The level of professionalism is very high, just like the dealer. The quality of service is very high, just like the dealer. However, the price is lower than the dealer--call that VALUE. I got a service B and another long-needed repair. They gave me an estimate first and told me when the car would be ready. I received a call when it was ready. I rarely give 5-star reviews but when it is warranted then I must. I have no complaints about Kraft German Auto. The reason customers complaint is because of unresolved, real or perceived, issues. I had an issue when my car was ready and I raised it with Pablo (mechanic), who looked into it and resolved the issue. Steve is very professional and will respond to your questions and concerns. I think they get how skeptical and wary people are when trying out a new mechanic, especially a dealer alternative. It seems like I will be returning. read more

STAY AWAY, I took my car in after it wouldn't start. I was told by the receptionist that no repairs would be done until it was approved. Steve the owner told me it was an alternator and battery, it would run me $1,300 but called back and said it was just a battery. He said he replaced some wires (lies) and replaced a battery for $350. I am placing a complaint with the department of motor vehicles and better business bureau. My final bill was $630 for a new battery. these guys are not cost effective problem solvers. they force you to throw unnecessary repairs at your late model benz. after buying a car they said it's imperative i do $5k of immediate work I took the car for a second opinion and was told that 50% of this work is not necessary and given cars age and value its not financially prudent to do such work. and the other 50% can be done by equality competent mechanics for much less $$$. many months later and many long trips car is still running fine, and I'm glad I didn't spent the money as other necessary things did come (old benz). maybe one time this was a dealer alternative, today they feel like a dealer shop read more

Steve & Pablo at Kraft German have been servicing my late model E320 wagon for the last 5 years. I have always received the most knowledgable and professional service from them. Can you find cheaper for a one time fix - sure. Kraft is definitely cheaper and more knowledgeable than the dealerships and industry standard for an independent shop that performs quality work. Just like sticking with my favorite airline, I build up a relationship and it pays off over the years when I need extra attention - a next day turnaround at the last minute. Steve has excellent attention to detail - over the years small items such as missing or worn control knobs on the console are replaced at no cost as he comes across a spare one. I had a check engine light come on which Pablo diagnosed as a European constraint on the emissions sensor. I was able to avoid a costly $1,000 replacement by having them switch off the code. So I take with a pinch of salt the complaints about the pricing because if you stay loyal you will get it back in great service, attention to detail and overall much better cost in the long run. read more

I recently purchased my second 1984 Mercedes 300D. I took it to Kraft German Auto and was very impressed by Steve's level of customer service and professionalism. I understand that these older cars need work, and can take time and $$$ to maintain. I was really impressed by Steve's patience at explaining the work that needed to be done - and why it needed to be done. Furthermore, he took the time to explain what did NOT need to be done, and what could be deferred to a later date. It was such a refreshing experience from the mechanics who try to bully you into repairs ASAP, and treat you (especially if you're a woman) like an idiot because you are trying to understand something about how your car works. After work on my fuel filters, fuel lines, exhaust, and a handful of other things, the car has really been transformed - it is performing with a lot more power, almost comparable to a modern car! Still need to take it out on the highway, but so far, so good. I accidentally got an oil change I didn't need, but that was totally my fault for not remembering that the previous owner had recently had it done. The invoice was clear and easy to understand, and the labor costs and unit prices on parts seem fair. It was a lot of money, but it was work that needed to be done, and because Steve took the time to explain everything and the performance is so improved, I feel confident that it was well worth it. I think that Steve and his team understand the value of building trust and having repeat customers over turning a quick buck. Please keep up the good work! read more

Absolutely fantastic. I brought my Mercedes in with a trunk that wouldn't open. It had various other problems, but I didn't want to bring them up, because I needed the car back in two days. The next morning, they called me knowing exactly what was wrong with the trunk, and diagnosed all the other problems I hadn't even mentioned! They gave me an incredibly reasonable estimate for the repairs (anyone with a Mercedes knows what a miracle it is to get anything fixed for under a grand), and had it done in a day. When I went to pick up the car, Steve took me on a test drive just to make sure I was happy with how everything was working. And to top it off, he offered some great advice about future maintenance that's already proving useful! I plan to use Kraft for as long as I drive a Mercedes. I was recommend by a friend to check out this shop when I was experiencing an engine misfire with my vehicle. I was told that I needed a new engine because one of my cylinders had no compression. Needless to say that wasn't true. My friend that suggested this establishment and I were very disappointed that Kraft would try to take me for a ride. They wanted 8k to put a new engine in. I wouldn't advise anyone to deal with this place. I ended up paying for the diagnoses fees for a problem that wasn't true. I lucky found an honest auto shop that specialize in Mercedes. Afters years of searching for the perfect German auto repair shop in the Tri-state area , that wouldn't charge as much as the dealership, I believe I have stumbled on the the perfect place in Brooklyn! On this particular day, my E350 was running ruff, the check engine light had come, the gears were not shifting properly when I excelled and I was loosing power. So after locating his shop on Google and reading the reviews on Yelp, I called and was instructed by Steve to bring the car in the next morning. Once there, my car was diagnosed with having major valve issues that leaked oil into places that it should not have gone and caused major damage. 2 hours later seals, valves and other essential parts were replaced with brand new parts as well as an oil change performed (on what oil was left in the engine). All under $800.00, which had I gone to the dealer, would have cost me well over $2500. Steve and his crew at Kraft are reasonable, reliable and affordable! My car and I purred all the way home. This will be my go to mechanic for as long as I reside in NYC, or within 2000 miles of his shop..Did I mention that there was a gentleman who drove all the way from Pennsylvania have his car worked on, as well as a client calling from Boston, who was bringing his car in the following day?! While driving my 1984 300td from Long Island to NYC, I broke down just shy of the Whitestone Bridge. Reluctant​ to use the AAA recommended mechanic, I did a quick search​ on benzshops and found Kraft German Auto in the Canarsie section of Brooklyn. I paid for the additional​ tow charges and was glad​ I did. W123s have a lot of eccentricities​ and shops that are not familiar with them tend to make expensive and unnecessary​ repairs, often making things worse. Kraft quickly diagnosed the problem and, at my request, did a full service of the car, replacing​ fluids​ filters, ​ and some high wear parts. I was kept informed along the way and was​ included in all decisions​. The shop is clean ( a new epoxy floor was being installed ) and shows an obvious​ passion for the entire MB line of cars. If you have an old car, you need a guy - I now have a guy in Brooklyn for my beloved station wagon. This shop is highly recommended​. read more

This place is like the dealership part two. The price is not worth the consultation nor the service. There's way better in Brooklyn. The owner likes overcharging because he has experience, but there's people with enough experience that will offer you a much fairer price. I paid over 2K to get some problems with my engine fixed, only to have more next week. The owner said the new problems happened because the old parts couldn't handle the new installed parts. So shouldn't that have been something you experienced and advised me about? I honestly feel they put holes in some pipes to secure additional business from me. The MOST amazing customer service and knowledge ever! Rewind to last summer--- I had taken my C320 to the 'official' Mercedes dealership months ago as my sunroof was stuck open. Not only did they tell me $5k to fix it, they claimed they could not close it in the meantime. Summer storms were coming, so I begged them to just get it closed. NOPE...they said it was all or nothing. I took it home, went on YouTube, and found that all you have to do is crank it shut with an Allen wrench. It still wasn't airtight, so I stuffed plastic in the crack. Fast Forward to March--- After a rough winter, and long sitting, my battery died. AND my doors locked. I called Kraft in a panic and left a message. Shalom(e?) called back ( Luv her PS!) and said that there is a car door key embedded in the actual key (I call it the laser light key). So, I opened the door, got a jump, and thought, 'Okay, I'll give these people a chance!' I'm a business owner, so I know the importance of customer care and service. Kraft BLEW ME AWAY! Whether it was via email or phone call, they made me feel like I was the only client on earth. AND Steve the owner called me himself! Never was I left hanging on the line, and never was I duped! I needed some things done to the car as I had not maintained it for a few years. Hold onto your hats---it gets better--- I dropped the car off on a Thursday and told them that I needed them to go over it and tell me what i needed. I had no idea. I got a call the NEXT day with a list and a quote. I almost passed out...because it was so LOW! I had expected to sell a kidney, and maybe a tooth or two. Nope! AND to top it off, Steve told me that there were some things that could be addressed months into the future. Not now. Okay, so then I say--- 'I also think I need a wheel balance because it pulls to the right'. 'No problem', Steve says, 'We'll look at it'. The next day I get a call from Steve. 'It doesn't need alignment, a spindle is bent.' I immediately brace myself ('OH, here we go', I thought. 'Here is the 'catch'). 'And just how much is THAT going to cost me??" I asked. Steve tells me and again, I'm like 'SAAAAY WHAAAT?' Again, much lower than I would have ever thought. 'Do it!' I said. And finally--- I pick up the car. Do you believe in miracles? I do now. My 2004 C320 was running like a 2040 not even invented yet Benz! AND not only did they fix everything to perfection, they did things for me that weren't even on the list...just because! And no charge! Oh, and let's revisit the sunroof--- not only is it shut airtight, Steve quoted me far less than what the dealer did when I'm ready to fix it! Absurdly less! Malcolm K.'s review started off--- 'If you're either dumb* or rich (or both) enough to own a Mercedes in Brooklyn...' Well, I'm neither, but I tell you this: I will own a Mercedes until the end, JUST so I can keep going to Kraft! I may even start breaking things just to experience the over the top service! I called this shop with a question regarding my Mercedes G500. I asked if they could mount 33inch tires onto my vehicle and have the computer reflashed so that it could accept the larger tire sizes. The receptionist thought this was funny and began to laugh and said this was unheard of and ridiculous. In the overlanding community this is very common tire size to put onto trucks and I definitely did not think that this was an unreasonable request. The receptionist was clearly ignorant of this and should learn better tact when dealing with clients. Will I try this place or even recommend this service shop? Absolutely not.. Such a long saga about my other baby my e350 4Matic 2007 Benzie. Just know my car is now running like buttah. Ultimately,after my local mechanic told me to go directly to the "dealer" who by the way, has pretty bad reviews all over about their service at both the Manhattan and Brooklyn locations; I researched and read all about Kraft German Auto-The Dealer Alternative. They have the same diagnostic equipment as the Mercedes dealers- as they are the Benz Specialists in the NY area. They gave me new CAM Magnet sensors as my Check Engine light kept coming on, and unfortunately I needed a new ME unit as recently I was having terrible starter problems. The car now starts flawlessly, and no Check engine light. They also gave me a new air filter as mine was dirty(the original one) Shalom, in reception initially talked to me for about 30 minutes on the phone and was very knowledgeable. In fact, she just said to come in just for a diagnostic if I wanted to be on the safe side. I am so glad I did, this is when it was discovered about my dead or near death ME unit. For any major issues or repairs, or even minor issues with your Benz. Please know these folks are worth every mile it takes to get to them, and every penny. By the way, I dropped my car off Friday, it was ready to go on that Tuesday. Also, it is a very organized and clean and neat shop, this says alot as most shops I have seen are disorganized and dirty. My car needs a airmatic shock upfront. he uses Arnott replacements which is fine. from advanced auto parts the arnott shock is $483 hes charging me $699. if u think thats bad enough arnott gives a $200 core return which in steves case goes into his pocket and not to the customer. whenever a shop is not willing to use the customers part be weary of the underlined goal of the mechanic. its bad enough labor rates are high but to take advantage of a customer on parts is too much for me. best part is when he called to quote me $2500 for the repairs he was as polite as can be but the minute i showed concern about the parts and labor he flipped. he went from being polite to extremely rude and told me to pick my car up and hung the phone up. i always say,in the world its dollars over morals and im proven correct time after time. i do not recommend kraft german auto. yes they are slightly cheaper then the dealer but just as crooked. use your best judgement and dont give your hard earned money to anyone who doesnt respect it like you do. kraft german auto i cant put my trust in such a shop. read more
