So I pass by this record store all the time and have been curious about it. So I finally went in…read moreto see if they just sold "New" records (current) or if they also sold new, still sealed in plastic old records as well. Well, to my surprise, they have many old records that are still new (still in plastic wrap)! Not only that but the people that work there are friendly and quite helpful. For example, one of the "new" old Records I purchased had a tear in the plastic. So I inquired about whether or not they had another copy that didn't have a tear in the plastic. They did not but they offered to knock off a couple of dollars in return. I didn't even ask for that. Very cool Now as for the used record selection, I was not that impressed with their quality. I think you get a lot better quality if you search online. Other than that, I would recommend this store.

The only negative thing is that there was a female employee there about my age (a senior citizen) who always watched me like a hawk and made me feel uncomfortable (as if I were going to steal something). Lots of shelves and books everywhere, but each shelf is home to specific categories of books, and there's LOTS of categories! Looking deeper at each collection, I was really impressed with the range of what I saw. I noticed these two super nice quality cookbooks and snagged them! I didn't realize at first, but the prices of the books seem to be marked in pencil on the first inside page or so, and I got a really good deal (imo!). I was in there for just a few minutes before the clerk/owner noticed me (he was busy in the back I think?) and turned on the AC and some cool music. :) That was appreciated, thank you!! I'll stop by again sometime. This feels like the place you should go to when you're not sure what you want, but you want a great price and rare find!!

Sibylline is a gem of a record shop in the Pasadena area filled with lots of treasures and great…read morefinds. There is no parking lot here, but a good amount of street parking all around the area. Inside, they are a smaller shop but have a good amount of records to sort through. Their selection ranges from different genres and are usually more old school. Everything is priced fairly and the staff here are welcoming. I definitely spotted some cool finds that I do not typically see at other record shops.

For some reason the person on the phone was frustrated pretty quick. Once inside, the space was clean and spacious, but no music playing. Unfortunately, the selection felt pretty limited and not fully stocked, so there wasn't much to dig through this time. Cool shop overall, just not the vibe for me on this day.

Their videos are organized by how a cinema fan's mind works. By category, by country, by director. John Woo movies in the Hong Kong director's section. Hou Hsiao-Hsien in Taiwan. There's classic porn from the 70s, 80s and 90s. There are Criterion discs. There are John Huston movies, Godard movies, Wim Wenders and David Lynch. Dario Argento horror movies. Sci-fi. Pre Sci-fi. Post Sci-fi. Brazilian. African. Silent films... I could go on and on. If you are looking for an obscure out of print classic film that's not on streaming, there's an 80% chance that you can find it here to rent. There is street parking nearby. The problem? I live in OC and this place is in Mount Washington/Montecito Heights. So if I move down there, I'll be renting some unheard of movies, that's for sure!

The staff on the floor are engaging and genuinely helpful when you're searching for a particular find. That said, my experience selling books was disappointing. The process felt impersonal, and the seller/owner was not particularly engaging. One example: I brought in a brand-new book that originally cost $40 and was offered only a $1 store credit. I understand used bookstores have to make a profit, but the experience left me feeling like my books would have been better off in a friend's library. Great place to browse and buy, but I would lower expectations if you're planning to sell.

Unfortunately, my experience this past December left me with a bad impression. I stopped in to buy Christmas gifts and while I was being helped by the employee at the register, I asked if they happened to have small handouts explaining the properties of a few crystals that came from the glass shelves. They weren't sure, so they asked the older employee/manager standing nearby. His response was rude. He came over and said they would have to print one out and didn't have time to do that. I wasn't expecting anyone to go out of their way to print something--I was just asking in case they had copies available at the front. A polite "no, we don't" would have been fine. Instead, the sharp tone was embarrassing, especially since it happened in front of other customers, the employee helping me, and my partner. I still purchased my items, but the interaction left me hesitant to return. This is a shop that should feel warm, welcoming, and relaxing considering what it offers. Nobody should leave feeling uncomfortable after a simple question.

We went to the store around afternoon time. The staff greeted us as we walked in. The store was so big and had so much stuff, took us a while to go around each aisle. I personally liked the Avengers character figures. It was nostalgic to see hundreds of CDs and DVDs again but I didn't buy any since I do not have any CD/DVD players anymore. This bookstore has it all…read more- they have Tepito Coffee inside (shoutout to proceeds going to Homeboy Industries), so many gift items, cards, knick knacks, things that - if you're looking for a gift for someone, you'll find something. Not just books! Not to mention their book selection is stellar and on point. When I went here recently (I come here often), they had an author speaking upstairs, and plenty of chairs out for an audience. Upstairs, they have tons of boxed cards and single cards, and again, lots of things that you may have not known you needed - or wanted to gift someone. I can truly spend hours in this bookstore. They also have additional seating and another drink menu inside as well. Literally, something for everyone! The prices are normal and I'm so happy to support local business in any way that I can. They also share a parking lot in the back with Total Wine and a couple other retailers. I had no idea! But definitely helpful.
