If you need a place for a quick snack for your kids this is the best place! They have a simple menu and the prices are great! They could work on their ice cream presentation but that all gets smash into our faces and mouths anyway! For Hilo this is my spot. read more

Good fast food spot in Hilo town. We always make a stop while in Hilo. Kids love slush floats!

Great soft serve and milk shakes are great! Orbits are good as well. Meals come with fries, drink and a sundae. Great deal

Ice cream is so good with the Mac nuts on top. Love coming when I can. So worth the stop when you come to Hilo! Love it

4 Stars for the NUTTY CONES!!! The soft serve ice cream is your standard quality, but it's really enhanced by the addition of finely chopped macadamia nuts! We ordered them through the drive through and staff was kind to offer us cups and spoons to help us eat them cause they're pretty tall. Didn't have a chance to order anything else, but we might come back again when we go to Hilo. read more

The ice cream store was no better than Carvel but no worse than your average place. I happened upon a selection with Oreos and sprinkles whipped up together. A carvelanche, if you will. Even so, you won't be disappointed. read more

On a hot day in Hilo I decided to give this place a try. Initial impression was a local style Dairy Queen. The drive through was busy due to Covid. Limited dining room seating (6) was an option, but was full when I got there. In terms of menu and variety, this place easily beats Dairy Queen. Slushes and slush floats (slush with soft serve) were available. Like other yelpers have mentioned, the menu is local style and chicken katsu was available. There was a daily special offered that I was told changes. And everything was fresh and made to order. Overall, this definitely worth at least a try. Pros: Fast and friendly service Prices are reasonable Impressive local menu options Cons: Limited parking and dining room seating. Long drive thru lines read more

Not sure why Kozmic Cones got such mixed reviews. It's a locally owned drive thru/walk up with standard plate lunch fare and a creative dessert section. We ordered fried shrimp and chicken katsu. Both platters were neatly boxed and were hot and crunchy. The vanilla soft serve rivals Dairy Queen. If you love Melona popsicles or honeydew, get the melon slush float. read more

This place is so hit or miss, it's ridiculous. There's absolutely no consistency. Sometimes the fries are crispy awesomeness, sometimes they are floppy mush. Sometimes the food is decent, others times, it's way over cooked and inedible. It's like the hot items are made in large quantities and sit under heat lamps all day. Sometimes the orbits aren't mixed up and there's just a bunch of toppings thrown on top of the soft serve. The cones are pretty good, but everything else is a crap shoot. read more

We stopped after a long day at the beach and Kozmic Cones did not disappoint. The melon slush float was a delicious combination of fruity and creamy. The fried shrimp was hot and crispy and the katsu chicken was a generous portion with a nice dipping sauce. read more

MELON SLUSH FLOATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is the only plate lunch place I know of where you can get your slush floats in multiple flavors including MELON. And the large slush float is less than $5 which is way better than a lot of other places. Our chicken katsu plate was generous and disappeared in 5-star fashion. Plus there's an awesome mural ! I'm a fan ! read more

reliable classic, kozmic cones barely ever forgets the condiments. always loved their food in a quick pinch or easy lunch

So it's Saturday and I buy from them 3x a week. I called first and they close at 7pm. I head over at 430pm. They shut the window on me and say I need to have a car. No walk ups today after I just called. I live 3 minutes away and my car is in the shop. Screw them. They lost my business and I will tell everyone how rude they were. Wrong town to be insulting to customers. read more

ILove the food, the service and the nostalgia. Been coming here for years. Favorite is orange freeze. Yummy. Love the Korean Katsu. I could name everything on the menu that I love. The bf: "Babe, do you want a slush float?"..... Me: "A whaaa???" The bf: "Oh you'll see..." On one of my driving tours of Hilo...the bf pulls into a little drive in with a modest menu that had featured typical items that you would find on most plate lunch menus across the islands. But we were on a quest to fulfill my sweet tooth and quickly jumped over to their ice cream and shakes list. The bf said that I had to try the "slush float" which I found to be akin to a Dairy Queen "Mr. Misty Float"......icee/slushee with a generous pile of soft served ice cream on the side of your cup. MMMMM!!! I opted for the Melon Flavor and the honey chose the Coke slush. DELISH!!! The melon flavoring (albeit, artificially flavored I'm sure) paired so darn well with the creamy soft serve ice cream. http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/PkvfLN8WvHT84TrKWLQPQg?select=sfmDOk7UBk9H4sZlvJuEBw Another home run for a tasty treat in Hilo!!! read more

Got the shake of the day. It was average nothing over the top. I would of liked to have more Oreo. It lacked the Oreo.

Look I don't expect a lot out of this place. The food is decent. It has a drive thru. I'd rather support a local company. The burgers here are usually okay. But the other day we ordered a cheeseburger and a gravy burger. Both had burgers that were cooked into charcoal. Both had buns that were dry and stale. And the gravy burger just had a little gravy on one half. It was already a bummer because they were out of ALL ICE CREAM!!! Said their supplier didn't deliver. Okay. But to only have a small sign once you get up to the order speaker? Ridiculous! There should have been a LARGE sign up front. We would have skipped that day and come back another day. Saw people in the drive thru blow past the pick-up window. They must have come in for ice cream only. read more

The slush freeze is A W E S O M E! ! ! Why don't they sell this on the mainland?!? Why is this untapped, addicting concoction not spreading like a plague. If a guy in a trench coat smelling of stale whiskey and carrying a 40 said he had slush freezes in the back of his van I would go. After sucking the cup dry, I was ready to flip over the Naha and become King of Hawaii. ... I think they have burgers and other rice stuff too. read more

$4 for the tiniest cone I've ever seen. No sprinkles, no frills. It was approximately 1/3 the size of a McDonalds cone that is $0.59. More like Kozmic rip-off. read more

Hawaiian Plate here is awesome when available! I've had numerous Hawaiian Plates ranging from $10-15! This plate lunch was only $7.95. The taste is way better than any Hawaiian Plate I've had in Hilo, for much less! The chicken long rice was hot and flavorful. The kalua pork was very moist and perfectly salted. The lomi had big chunks of salmon, something that every plate I had lacked. It comes with a heaping scoop of white rice. Deals! Yummmmy! read more

Three Words: MELON SLUSH FREEZE!!! You might not know this is on the menu since the flavors aren't listed, and "slush freeze" is a pretty vague name. Thanks to yelp I learned of this treat, and my boyfriend and I swung by on a rainy night for a taste. It was worth the drenched hem of my maxidress (haha) to experience the deliciousness! In fact we returned a couple of days later to indulge again before leaving town. I will definitely have to try to recreate this at home, though I'm not sure it can match up. Try one; it'll send you into orbit! read more

I gave it 3 stars because the customer service sucks. They should organize better on how to call people for their orders. That window is too small and we can barely hear anything because the seats are far from the window. The cashier ( don't know her name, but she got frizzy hair type ) is not so good at talking to her customers. Always makes us repeat our order, even when we're not talking fast. But there slushee floats and soft serves are great! Really hits the spot on a hot day, and their food is also great! I love their fried chicken plate!!!! Their burgers are good, but their fries seem to be tooooo oily, I can just taste the oil and they don't put enough salt on it. read more

We came here with friends who were told by their sister in law about the snacks. It was a detour from Volcanoes NPS on the way back to Kona. The boys ordered the slush float which I have to say was one of the best I've ever had. The slush was carbonated which I've never had before. The texture of the slush was icy not really watery. The soft serve was creamy and icy too. So why 2 stars? I ordered a teri burger with no mayo and made sure they didn't put in mustard which I can't stand! So the order came out pretty fast. It looked good and I was ready to devour it! As I was ready to bite down I smelled something I didn't like. It was mustard! I took it back to the cashier and she thought I said no mayo and add mustard. What!!??!! So she took it back and 2 minutes later I got my new burger. Again as I was ready to bite down...what did I see? A whole lot of mayo! My friend said I heard you say no mayo and mustard. So frustrating! After wiping off all the mayo, the burger was actually not bad. read more

Great is cream. Daily specials. As of November 2022... there is no seating available... takeout only.

Reasonable priced Ono local grinds, such as should chicken and chili bowl. Service is quick with friendly, dedicated workers.

Was told I HAD to stop at Kosmic Cones if in Hilo. It's a small spot with old school burgers, fries, desserts, as well as some local style plate lunch options. We kept it simple since we had been eating all day with 3 slush floats...strawberry, vanilla, and melon. I tried all three and they're all super good! Wish I had room for a burger or even a dipped cone or an orbitz (kinda like a DQ Blizzard), but there's always next time! read more

The food was okay, I didn't find it super tasty but I did enjoy the Banana shake they had on their menu. Going into the place I didn't expect anything great from them but since they were open late we decide to give it a try. We had the combo Katsu and Teri it was okay. The teriyaki was too sweet for me personally and the Katsu needed to be cooked little bit more. The rice was good and so was their salad. I would recommend this place for a quick bite but don't expect anything beyond extra ordinary. The staff was friendly left them a good tip since they look tired from working a long shift. From the outside this place looks like a laundry place. Anyhow the only way I'm coming back is for those banana shakes.I'm read more

Good basic ice cream cones. As one reviewer noted, the cone was a little stale, but the ice cream itself & the toppings are great.

They are racist against white people. I suggest to take your time when you are in line. Sit in your car for 20 minutes after you get your order. Maybe eat it while I'm the drive thrI line until you are finished. read more

I have always enjoyed whatever I've ordered. My only request is that the flavors are posted at the drive up.

I ordered the seafood platter and about 2 hours later my stomach was hurting and felt like I had to throw up.. from all the grease... or maybe it was bad fish. Whatever it was, I don't recommend the "seafood platter" if you have a light stomach or don't like a lot of grease in your food. The price was decent though, under $10 read more
