I ordered coconut and strawberry, and my sister went with strawberry. The presentation was beautiful, but I noticed the syrup was very light. I think I'm used to the thicker, sweeter syrups some places use, which makes the flavors more vibrant. This felt more like a lighter, juice-style shaved ice. That's not a bad thing at all--it just wasn't what I was craving, and it didn't quite hit the spot for either of us. That said, this review isn't meant to knock the business at all. I definitely recommend trying it for yourself and ordering what you like. I may have ordered the wrong flavors and probably should've gone with one of their specials (the lava flow sounds like the move). The shop keeper was friendly and patient as I browsed the pastry case. I've always been curious about the Dubai chocolate bar, so I decided to splurge and give it a try. Very pricey at $16 for a 4-5" bar, but it was worth it to try it once. The chocolate was smooth and high quality, the pistachio cream was sweet with a hint of pistachio flavor, and the kataifi was pleasantly crunchy. I would have loved more pistachio flavor, but it was a nice little chocolate treat. Looking forward to trying more things from Short n Sweet in the future. Will definitely be back when I want to treat myself to a gourmet dessert. :)

This place is a piece of heaven. Those cookies, brownies and rocky road are things I dream of. I do prefer dark chocolate over milk, but milk chocolate stuff is really yummy too. Who am I kidding if only milk chocolate dipped cookies in front of me I'd totally take them. The packaging is also beautiful, but if you just want cookies for you or to make goodie bags save a little money and get the bagged cookies vs boxed ones. And if you have any product questions, make sure to ask the friendly staff.

My wife asked if we could pre-order the girl said yes. Then she told my wife that it would be better we go there because of a large selection of flavors. My wife ask if they were going to be open on Friday she said yes. Well we went on Friday morning. We entered the parking lot and didn't see any signage. We circled the parking lot. My wife called and was told go to the drive in back of the building. We did and still no signage. My brother-in-law and I got out and started looking for the entrance. My brother-in-law found the entrance. A lady came out and said, since you're here I'll service you. Well the three of us entered the office. She showed us a small cabinet with four packages of Lavosh. Well I picked up three of them. As the lady worked on our receipt a man who was talking to my wife outside came in and gave her a package of lavish. Well the receipt read Hawai'i County Economic Opportunity Council the same as signage that was posted at the entrance of the parking lot. Rainbow Falls Connection is probably the name they use to sell their wares. The bag of broken pieces and whole pieces was the same price eight dollars a bag. As for the taste my wife could pick out the pieces that were lilikoi flavored. The rest that we tried so far were crisp but no decernible flavor.

So I really wanted to check out this small stand that I heard sells broken pieces of lavosh - a huge bag - for only $8! I asked several Hilo friends, but no one seemed to know where to go for this stuff. Finally, I my Hilo friend asked her sister who pointed her to this spot - and luckily, it was open on Veteran's Day! I loved the feeling of going somewhere not well known, and was thrilled when I finally found the small factory. There were large bags of the various flavors (mango, mac nut, furikake, sweet potato, etc.) and mixed lavosh (which is a nice way to sample various lavosh!). The lavish itself is crispy, light, not too sweet, and so addicting. You can easily eat handfuls without realizing it! It's not the easiest stuff to transport home, but it's unique and will last quite awhile (if you don't eat it too quickly!).
