It's in a plaza so lots of parking. We came here a few times because the price was good compared to other places and it was good. It's not the best shave ice we've had on Hawaii but it was good. We were a bit confused with the sizes but the person was helpful and she even recommended getting the child size since we were quite overwhelmed by regular size. Hilo Ice Shave provides the perfect snack on a hot Hilo afternoon after going to the beach. The ice is shaved as fine as any I've tried in the past, plus they definitely don't skimp on the syrup. It's shave ice at a small order and wait shop. It's conveniently located close to Banyan Drive. Lots of syrup flavors and could use a little more so it soaks all the way to the bottom. Less of a wait compared to the place at the Farmers Market. read more

Getting shaved ice was one of my goals while in Hawaii. After a day of hiking the volcanoes, this was a way to cap it off. This is a small shop in small shopping center. There is ample parking. The signage was a bit difficult to catch. I missed it the first time. The interior made it look like it was closing. Not much there except the ice shaving machines, a couple of screens and register. The only place to sit was a few folding benches. The staff were friendly and helpful. There was a large number of flavors. I got cherry, lime and lychee. I would sub out the lychee next time. It didn't do it for me. The cherry and lime were dominate and good. A regular was substantial but went down faster than expected. Some high school football players came in and got a giant shaved ice. It was the size of a basketball. Maybe next time. The price was inexpensive. Overall, I would definitley come back here. You should go here if you are in Hilo, HI and craving shaved ice. read more

My favorite ice shave shop in Hilo! Really reasonable prices, generous servings, and great syrup flavors. I got the large shaved ice with lychee, POG, and lilikoi syrups, with condensed milk on top. Service was quick and friendly! The girl behind the counter suggested getting the large order, but having in made in a bowl so it was easier to eat--such a good pro tip! The serving size was enormous, and so so refreshing on a hot day. There's a little seating inside, but also some benches outside to enjoy your frozen treats. The syrups all tasted fantastic, and the ice was a nice consistency and not too coarse. The condensed milk paired beautifully with the flavors. I finished the whole thing! I drove in to Hilo for shave ice to find the shop closed. But as we drive around looking for something sweet this place caught our eye. It's a tiny shop and we might've driven right in by -- so glad we saw the OPEN sign. Inside were two friendly folks who asked if we'd been in before and told us all about what makes them different. Start with two types of shave, a pour-your-own flavor station and plenty of add-ons. A regular (size) was plenty and when I added Azuki Bean and Mini Mochi to my Pina Colada I was happily full of sweet tasty goodness. This review is not for their outstanding ice shave but for a not well known item. Their musubi is simply outstanding. The spam musubi looks simple in the plastic wrap. However inside there is a simple, fantastic delicacy of a musubi. Each bite has an awesome taste which makes this simple thing a pleasant surprise. There is a hint of oyster sauce, teriyaki sauce and furikaki which compliments the salty spam. The best part of it all is the price. It's only two dollars! There is no place where you can buy a quality musubi for that price. If you can find a better musubi for that price, let me know! read more
