Four Star divey Chinese American food better known for takeout.. This is not great Chinese food but cheap, tasty, filling Chinese diner food. Huge portions of chow mein, fried rice, stir fry, etc. Everything is made to order with fresh ingredients and the open kitchen appears very clean. Try the homemade BBQ pork with one of their many lunch specials. I am not a fan of their Frankenstein egg rolls though... they are overly battered and greasy. Friendly family service !!! read more

Portions are huge. Ordered a rice plate of bbq meat where it came on a stick, came with almond chow mein, and fried rice. The pork was deep fried and kind of burnt. Chow mein was good tasting but not like typical chow mein. Got another plate with Chinese red bbq pork and fried rice and it was good. Just picked-up a special plate consisting of pork chow mein, fried rice and sweet and sour chicken. Also, ordered a half-order of sweet sour pork. I hadn't ordered from Kowloon in a few years because the food had become bland. A friend told me it had gotten better, so I decided to place a order today. I've been looking for a good a gòod chinese restaurant. Still looking. Tried one of their specialty plates. Pan fried noodles were plentiful and cooked well, but chow mein was flavorless and scimpy amount. The sweet and sour chicken was fried to crisp and I couldn't even bite into it. Horrible! First and last time here!I ordered 3 plates and an order of egg rolls. The first was a chicken special and 2 Orange chicken plates with a order of egg rolls. Fried rice and noodles were burnt. So called chicken was lousy. And these things that look like burritos were supposed to be the egg rolls were terrible. It's unbelievable that this place is still even in business. My kids didn't even the orange chicken or noodles. Needless to say it all went in the trash. What a waste of $24 bucks. Today we tried the garlic chicken which is in the photos very filling the dumplings were fresh and hot! Also the house plate with noodles,pork, rice, and 3breaded fried shrimp. Came in on a weeknight wanting some Chinese food. The place was pretty small but well kept. I ordered the house special chow mein, orange chicken and Chinese vegetable soup. The chow mein was really good and filling they did not skimp on the variety of meat and of course shrimp! The orange chicken was a little different not as crispy or breaded but definitely was good. Lastly the soup, it was absolutely amazing, the closest thing I could compare it to is sizzling rice soup minus all the meat and rice of course, but it was worth every drop of it. read more

My hubby and I will get a special plate with shrimp and a order of Delish crispy egg rolls and it is enough to eat on for at least 2 maybe three meals. I'm going to review this place due to the many times over the last almost 30 years that I've been living in the area. I don't get it. I didn't get it when I was 19 and I don't get it now, and I'm 48. The food isn't even mediocre. It's awful. And yet, they receive 4 stars on Yelp and have long lines. I have to wonder if it's strictly the prices for tons of food, guess even if it's bad food ppl will buy it. I have not had one decent flavor experience with Kowloon, not once. I've only returned in the hope that there's been some sort of miraculous 180 and I'm severely disappointed each time, to where I gave up. It does make me also wonder if they put a numbing agent in their food, to where people can't really taste it....I'd hate to think there are THAT many ppl in the area with taste buds so defective. But either way, have at it, those that like it. More for you. I won't eat here....lol ever again. I've chalked it up to "no, thank you, I prefer my food prepared well and that has flavor". This was our go to Chinese Take-Out growing up. Even when we started going here in the early 90s is had been around for 25+ years. It's a family business, and I got to see all the kids grow up as I did. A lot of my parent's friends grew up going here too, and everyone says the quality and the service has always been top notch. After moving back to Clovis after being gone for 5+ years, I worked near Kowloon kitchen and would go for lunch or dinner at least a couple times a month. The food was still very good, and an excellent deal. I used to always get the lunch special which was fried rice, chow mein and sweet and sour pork for like $5, and was enough for at least 2 meals(and was sometimes better warmed up, and all mixed together). It's the Chinese food that I base my opinion on all other Chinese Take-Out on, because its what I grew up on, and loved. read more

I arrived in a very good mood and left frustrated and angry. For some reason the person taking my order wanted to argue with me about my choices. The apparent manager began screaming loudly at the person handling the order. After considerable yelling back and forth I decided to leave. That's when they started yelling at me to come and give them my order. I politely said no thank you. As I started to leave they were screaming at each other and at me. Noting is worth that kind of treatment. Instead I drove further than I wanted to a place called China Chef. They welcomed me, took my order gratefully and apologized that I might have to wait a few minutes. The food was pipping hot when I got my food, however the food was bland, there wasn't much meat in the dish, and a ton of noodle and veggies than meat. At he end of the day, it is just "ok" when compared to other "mom & pop" Chinese places. This is THE best Chinese food around. I was raised in clovis and would come here as a kid. I moved out of the area and every time I come visit I HAVE to come here. You wouldn't know that it was THE best place in town because it's in a hole in the wall place, you walk in and the chairs and tables are old and tattered. You order and they give you a number on a piece of cardboard. But they're fast and the food is awesome!!! You can't get pan fried noodles like they make anywhere. The sauce they use of their broccoli chicken is out of this world. I literally can eat on one plate for 3 days it's such big portions. Love love love this place!!! Best cheap Chinese takeout place in Clovis, no doubt. I guess you could technically dine in, but I wouldn't recommend it. Anyway, you get a ton of food for a very low price. Call ahead and place your order over the phone. The beef and broccoli over noodles is the best. I also recommend the pot stickers and chicken fried rice. It really is a hole in the wall, and it might just barely pass the health inspection, but it's been there decades so it must be doing something right. read more

One of my all time favorites. Their special chow mein and special fried rice are the best anywhere. They're most known for having egg rolls the size of burritos. The prices are great and the combo plates portions look like something Adam Richmans tried to tackle on Man v. Food. I haven't found anything on their menu that i don't like yet. Some things i'd recommend are the egg rolls without a doubt, special chow mein, special fried rice, orange chicken, moo gu gai pan, bbq pork, and any of their foo youngs, they're all delicous. As far as the dining situation, this is definately a order to go kinda place. The inside is small and the few tables they have are usually used for people waiting for to go orders rather than people eating there. Not to mention the cooking area is about 10 feet away from the tables and isn't seperated by anything which makes it pretty humid at times, not to mention that the constant influx of to go orders keeps the chefs pretty busy which makes for a pretty uncomfortable dining in experience. read more

I am really picky when it comes to the orange chicken at a Chinese restaurant so for me to say I really liked the food at this place is really saying something. I might have found a new place to eat at. this place really doesnt look like much from from the outside and from the inside too. I have to admit, when I was recommended this place I parked in from of the restaurant and almost drove away because it didnt look like anything special. Once inside I was still thinking to myself "I can still leave, I have not ordered yet". The inside reminded me of a cafeteria in a way because they had just a couple of cheap looking tables set up and there was a family eating inside and all their food was in the carry out containers. Basically the whole place looked cheap to me and it made me feel that the food would be the same way. Anyways, I will definitely go back to this place and eat again. Trust everyone on here when they say that you get HUGE portions of food and it is priced beyond decent for what you get. I would recommend anyone to try this place out at least once. read more

I don't get why everyone raves about this place. I will say that the line was out the door. I ordered mongolian beef from the listed "Chef's Specialties". The meat was flavorful and spicy and had plenty of veggies. But this was the very first sit-down chinese restaurant where the meal didn't come with a soup or even rice on the plate! When they say Mongolian beef, that's really ALL they mean. So that sucked. My bf ordered the chinese salad appetizer which was very flavorful, and my MIL ordered the #1 from the lunch specials which did come with soup and some fried things and rice. When I realized the meal didn't come with fried rice, i asked for some, and they brought enough fried rice for 8 people. it was ridiculous and a huge waste of food. And I needed to salt it, it was rather flavorless. If my BF didn't make me come here every time i'm in town, I'd not come again.
