When I questioned why my kung pao and broccoli beef had the same sauce, I was told ALL the dishes have the same "gravy" (her word). HUH? Why have a menu then? First time here and came based on friend's recommendation. I must say, the portions are huge (leftovers for days)! You definitely get your money's worth! I'm new to the Clovis area and a coworker took me to this please. I owed him lunch. Boy did he make the right call. My first impression of this please was it loud and kind of hot inside. I can deal with that. Now for the service it was good. But the lady that helped me had this look of pure lement on her face as well as a mouth full of food. I was having second thoughts but it wasnt my idea. So I ordered, not being a huge fan of Asia food i ordered the orange chicken. I have never had a better plate of O.C. In my life! So good! Went in here since it had 3.5 stars. Very disappointed. I ordered pork lo mein and have never seen such an odd dish. Lo mein noddles on the bottom were seared. Yes seared like hash browns or something. I think they tried to reheat the noodles in a frying pan and I got a big lo mein noodle patty. That wasn't all, next they put a wet glob of beans sprouts and then big chunks of pork. They get one star for the pork. read more

The food is good and the portion size is huge. However, everything is served in to go containers. Not a problem, unless it breaks. The closure on my container broke. So, I asked for a soup type container with a lid, since my container broke and I was going to be carrying it on a plane. They offered to give me another one just like the one that broke (and I could just picture it spilling through security or all over the plane). So again, I asked for the other container with a lid, due to traveling, and THREE employees insisted that I had to PAY for a different type of container. Good value for the price of food. But, HORRIBLE customer service. Customer service speaks more loudly than the quality of the product. I don't need to frequent a place that doesn't value my loyalty. I'm done! It seems like I've been eating here off and on for 50 yrs. I'm 74 now. It use to be my favorite Chinese Restaurant for take out in the whole area. However, the last few times I ate there it just wasn't very good. I finally decided that I would end my relationship with this place. But alias, I decided to give it another try today and got their Mandarin box to go. This is the worst food that I have ever bought and paid for in my lifetime. It was horrible. First off they take a tiny little cocktail shrimp and blow it up with batter to make it look like a Giant Prawn... and it was terrible. The Sweet & Sour was by far the worst I've ever had. The vegetables were uneatable. When I got home I ate some of it, then just gave up and threw it away. This time I'm done with these guys. Whom ever is running this place now needs to take some lessons in how to cook Chinese food, they sure don't know how to do it right now. It's not about Quantity, it's about Quality! What a shame to have such a longtime landmark turn into such a poor excuse of a restaurant. read more

Wow... talk about authentic third world experience. Never in my wildest dreams did I think I could ever find such an amazing experience of the Far East jungles of Asia here in the high desert of Clovis California. When you walk up to the small storefront reminiscent of an authentic sweat shop. The people working inside speak little to no English and use grunts and hand gestures to get your foot requests. As the cooks chop raw fish on the floor of the dirty asbestos tile floors the other cooks wok the noodles with one hand and wipe their bloody noses with a rag in their other hand. Wow, so authentic. If you have ever seen the movie "The deer hunter" then just imagine all the poker Roulette scenes they aren't as authentic as this place. The taste of this cuisine will shock your senses. Every flavor is something you have never had before. Probably for good reason. What I loved the best was the days of diarrhea following my meal. It was like dysentery mixed with the plague. Highly recommended for the brave who wish to reenact the Vietnam war and all its meals. So good. read more

Size matters and this place definitely has HUGE portions. That is why most people come here. Sure some dishes are not that good. Sure it might not look so clean. Sure it's not authentic. But overall, most of the stuff I've had taste pretty good and it definitely fills you up (one of only a few places). I can almost finish one order and that says a lot. Ordered from here for the first time since I moved to Clovis. Asian food is probably my favorite so I'm always looking for a good place to go. Kowloon Kitchen is very close to where I live, very well priced, and very fast. When I called tonight, they said ten minutes, and it pretty much took ten minutes. The amount of food I got for what I paid was insane too. I easily could've left something off our order and we would've been fine. I love Asian leftovers even more maybe though, so yay! We got the Special plate, which had pork chow mein, sweet & sour chicken, and fried rice, all of which were great. I especially enjoyed the chow meins we got. We also got the Fried Scallop platter, which came with fried rice and almond chicken chow mein, which was my favorite of the two chow meins, and maybe my favorite part of the meal. Full of veggies! Hubby got pork egg foo young, which I'm personally not a fan of but he really liked it. We also got the egg rolls. This was the only disappointing part for me. They were HUGE, and instead of a normal egg roll wrapper, they were almost battered and deep fried it looked like, which was appealing. But they use some type of spice in the cabbage mixture inside. I just couldn't get over it. Not horrible necessarily, but I ended up only eating half of one. Not a big deal, still plenty of food to make up for it. Over all, very delicious. I was in the shopping center, later in the evening, and I noticed that Kowloon Kitchen was still open (8:30 pm). I hesitated at first with the natural reaction to slightly dive-y restaurants but the aromas soon put my mind at ease, which is to say my stomach took over the decision making. For $7.00 I ordered Kung Pao Chicken and when I received my styrofoam container I had to use both hands as it sagged under the weight. So much food I needed to share it at home with two other family members. The food was piping hot, fresh, delicious, colorful and had tons of meat and veggies. Highly recommend if in the area, definitely bring someone with whom to share a plate. read more

No idea how this place gets good reviews! Where to start??! I ordered the teriyaki chicken special. I got a ton of rice and some chicken. However the chicken had a lot of fat, gristle, and skin. Unfortunately they only gave me a plastic fork, so I had to pull it apart with my fingers. The entire meal was absolutely doused in some kind of strange teriyaki-like sauce that wasn't very good. A couple minutes after I sat down they opened the door wide and started mopping the floor. The outdoor temp was in the 40s with a breeze, and my food and I quickly became very cold. The woman mopping the floor mopped right up to my feet. Lord knows the place needed cleaning, but they were open for another two hours. They messed up at least two peoples' orders while I was sitting there. All around a bad experience! read more

I love Kowloon kitchen. I am 45 years old and I remember being very very young, I couldn't see over the counter, that's how long my family and I have been eating there. I don't know what has happened, but the quality of the food has changed. I figured it was a one off, but the plate of food my mom received today was inedible. It was suppose to be brown gravy and beef over noodles, instead it was some sort of breaded and fried (reminded me of chicken fried steak) meat-couldnt tell what kind- and some dark burnt liquid, not gravy, but totally bitter. I don't understand how a family owned restaurant for over 40 years could let something like this come out of their restaurant. I understand that times are tough and family owned restaurants are struggling, but if this is what they are serving now, it won't be long before they have to close, because noone will want to eat there. I'm even signing up for yelp solely to leave this review in the hopes that someone will show the family, because they would be horrified to know what my mother received from their restaurant today. I still left a 5 star review because with a few exceptions in the last month, their food is usually an 11/10, for the last 40 years. read more

Best Chinese food in Fresno/ Clovis area. I order the Mandarin Dinner for $7.20 & it was real good. The servings are big portions enough to feed at least 2-3 people. The Egg Foo Young is the best. The food reminds me of my favorite Chinese restaurant in Kennewick, Wa "Shang hai". read more
