Dr. Derek performed home euthanasia on our beloved pet. He gave some tips on how to handle our other pet who may be missing thier partner in crime. He was patient and kind. We stayed with our pet to provide comfort and to say goodbye, which is never an easy process. Grief is a funny thing that sneaks up on you at random times but you must go through it and not around it. Kindle has passed over the rainbow bridge. We will miss him greatly. Only a short while ago you were that cute bundle of energy being chased around the house with a shoe or a wallet or a piece of junk mail in your mouth. You never met a soul, a treat, or a ball you didn't like. Slowly, then all of a sudden... I noticed you wearing down. Sometimes I had to lift you into or out of the car. You no longer wanted to chase the squirrels or bark at passers-by or walk as far as you used to, but that's OK. The love between us was strong and never wavered. In good times and bad. You never cared if I was cranky or stressed or tired. You were my best friend no matter what. My heart hurts because your favorite spot on the floor is now so cold and empty. When it's time to say goodbye, everybody has the same doubts: are we doing the right thing? How can anything be more difficult than to weigh your need for peace against our own need to hold on. But we accept this pain so that it can end yours. And in an instant, your struggle to move and breathe turned to calm. My sweet baby boy. Finally when she neared the age of 2 I realized I needed professional help Amillie came in and once again explained things even on our first session in a way I could understand and broke down behaviors for me. I actually have 2 giant breed Greater Swiss mountain dogs and she has helped me with training both of them. Mainly frustration reactivity for my younger female "puppy" and then being able to successfully loose leash walk both of them together (2 strong willed and physically strong, with a combined weight of ~200 lb) female dogs. Each time we meet I leave with so much information. She's been great and I only wish we started training them with Amillie when my girls were younger. She's so respectful about making sure to accommodate any requests (no shoes inside, wiping paws, etc).
