I've boarded my dog Cali about three times now while traveling for work. Super easy process for drop off and pick up. The app makes things seamless and my dog is always happy and healthy upon my return. read more

John was super nice, friendly and patient with my dog. Very experienced with pets, I highly recommend trusting him with your pets.

DO NOT LEAVE YOUR PET WITH JON. I arrived to leave my 12-year-old Australian Shepherd with Jon. He lives in a very unsafe part of City Heights- not the address on his business license. He was very condescending from the first second because I had not responded to his most recent message on his app- he will only communicate on his app not by phone or text. When he confronted me about not responding to his latest pickup message, he became hostile, condescending, and extremely disrespectful. The interaction escalated into a yelling match and left me so unsettled that I decided not to leave my dog with him. I had a bad feeling about him in general. Afterward, I found his publicly accessible OnlyFans account. Although separate from his pet-sitting services, this discovery added to my discomfort. Leave your animal with anyone else but him. read more

Dobby had a great time with Jon! We will definitely be utilizing his services in the future

I am so grateful for Sunny Pets and the owner, Jon! My sweet pup, Ginger, has a long history of separation anxiety but she absolutely adored Jon from the first meeting. We had tried various sitters and boarding places but Sunny Pets is the first one where I can tell Ginger is genuinely comfortable and feels at home, and the level of attention and care provided here is unmatched. I recently left Ginger here for over two weeks while I went on vacation and I knew she was in excellent hands. Jon is very responsive and communicative, and he shared videos of Ginger living her best life and playing with other dogs. She looked like she was having more fun than she does when I'm around! I fully trust Sunny Pets with Ginger's care and couldn't be more grateful that I found them. I'll continue booking with them going forward and highly recommend their services to other pet parents. read more

Sunny Pets is the best!!! We found Jon at Sunny Pets in January before a 14-day trip. Our dog had only ever stayed with family before this trip so we were more than a little nervous to hire someone to care for her. As soon as we met Jon we knew he was the right person to watch Cali. He is great with dogs, super responsive and posts lots of videos so we always knew how she was doing. We could tell Cali was happy at Sunny Pets and will absolutely send her there the next time we go out of town. Highly recommend!! read more

I'm so incredibly grateful to have found Jon & Sunny Pets for boarding my Isla girl! We moved to San Diego recently and were super worried about finding someone to take care of her during our trips as Isla doesn't do well in commercial facilities and can be quite timid with new people. Isla clearly feels right at home with Jon and the Sunny Pets pack, and has enjoyed trips to the beautiful parks and beaches around SD! She has the biggest smile in every video we get of her during her stay! Recently, Isla was diagnosed with a condition that makes her dietary needs more complex. Jon was super understanding and followed her diet to a T. I'm totally at ease leaving Isla with Jon and completely trust him. I highly recommend Sunny pets to every pet parent and Isla can't wait to go back soon! read more

Ummm what? I just had the strangest interaction when I was asking about daycare for my puppy. I told the owner that my brand new puppy was still getting his vaccines (3 months old, still on 2nd shot of Parvo since you have to wait for all the doses). He asked if I'm an antivaxxer and if I believe in human covid. Like I'm literally trying to explain which vaccines I'm getting for my own dog and then he wanted to know about my history and if I'm vaccinated - which I am, but my medical history is absolutely none of his business. What a strange and aggressive interaction for absolutely no reason. He got all bent out of shape for literally no reason. I would never send my dog here based on this, but to each their own. Looks like some people love this place and some do not. Note: as a business owner, you should probably at least keep your private views to yourself, or keep it out of the 1st conversation, especially when you're not even listening to the customer. Good luck! (EDIT to add insight into the owner's response): Look at the owner's comment below mine (and all the other poor reviews). Wow. Awful business owner who needs to be petty and argue against their poor reviews. Maybe google "soft skills" and respond politely or with insight rather than trying to come out as the winner of a perceived argument. Or check out my other 98%+ 4 and 5-star reviews since I love being on Yelp! and helping people find really great places, which yours certainly is not. How rude. Also, the crazy thing is you take screenshots these days. Attached is our actual conversation where you ask us if we're anti-vaxxers out of nowhere, as we're literally asking which vaccines you require and telling which ones we have (Liza is my fiance and we're both reaching out to find doggy day care, for reference). Maybe be kind next time before belittling good customers you haven't even met yet. We're super nice unless you start insulting us for no reason. And when someone leaves you a negative review, just accept it as an expensive lesson in how to run your business better. read more

Sunny Pets - This owner is incredibly rude and asked if I was an antivaxxer as I literally was asking which vaccines my new puppy needs... - Dog Walkers Near Me - San Diego, California

Jon had great communication. Dropped our dog off for a week during Christmas time, when I reached out for an update he responded quickly and with detail. Definitely recommend. I like that our dog got to free roam with a pack instead of being stuck in a kennel. read more

Our dog is more excited to see Jon and his pack more than us . We moved from Seattle and were so glad we found Jon to take care of our pup. Our dog has a lot of energy and he's a social butterfly. At the end of the day our pup is super worn out. The Sunny Pets app is easy to use and Jon posts pics and videos of the dogs every day. read more

My husband and I have been choosing Sunny Pets whenever we need to board our two dogs. We sought a place that could provide a home environment, especially since both of our dogs were rescues. We're at peace knowing they are in knowledgeable hands. They won't be kept in a kennel and they get plenty of outdoor time through walks and daily park visits! Jon gives updates and is easy to communicate with. Prices are clear on the app/website. I'm an anxious dog-mom and I 100% believe investing in quality care for your pups is worth it! Plus, I don't feel guilty going on vacation knowing my doggies are having a good time too haha. Thank you, Sunny Pets! read more

Jon at Sunny Pets makes our dog feel at home! Our dog is so exciting to be dropped off and in a great mood when we pick him up! We are super happy with Jon and plan to continue using him when we are out of town! Jon is also super responsive to messaging and makes sure our dog gets lots of exercise! read more

My pets love going. We have been working with Sunny pets since 2019. They start howling and do the happy dance when I turn onto Jon's street to drop them off. I've used other boarding services where they resisted going inside. When I drop them off with Jon, they practically bust out the door. I enjoy the IG pics. Jon is a clear communicator and sets expectations, as a client I am confident he runs a tight ship. read more

The most amazing pet boarding service! Feels like an extension of our home. We absolutely love, love, love!

We are so happy to have found Sunny Pets to care for our dog! We were hesitant to board our dog because we didn't want him to feel like he was going back to the shelter, so the home environment that Sunny Pets provides is perfect. My dog gets so happy when he realizes where we are and I feel so at ease knowing he is lovingly cared for while I'm away. read more

Bella has been staying with Jon several times over the past year or so and each time I'm more grateful to have found Sunny Pets! If your dog is like mine, you've tried other formats that place dogs in their crates for extended periods and limited outdoor exposure. The experience with sunny pets is the complete opposite and better suited to dogs that need space to roam. Jon takes the pack out for long dog park days and lets them sprawl out on the floor or couch at night. Needless to say, we're believers in the company as being a safe home away from home for our 9 YO husky. Thank you so much Jon and team!! read more

Can't say enough good things. Jon is very gentle and kind - my dog jumps right out of the car and runs into his house when he boards and jumps right in the van for park days. read more

Jon and Sunny Pets are INCREDIBLE!!! Our Bailey has the best time ever when we have to overnight her for several days here. Jon is constantly sharing updates on Instagram with the activities our pet is doing plus showing us all the new friends she makes during her stay. Once you put in a request for your pet's stay - Jon sends a full breakdown of the price for everything (weekday rate, weekend, holiday, etc.) Nothing is hidden from you and you don't pay until you have a chance to review the full stay of your pet. I can't thank Jon enough for every time Bailey gets to stay and has the time of her life! read more

My dog Charlie has been going on park visits with Jon for over 5 years and always comes back happy. Jon is incredibly easy to work with and has always been available on short notice to watch my dog when I had to go out of town. I especially appreciate how he posts videos every day on Instagram so I can see how my pup is doing. I would highly recommend! read more

Jon is an angel. He has such a kind spirit and my pup Rufio loves him. The first time I went to drop him off I was worried my furry friend would whimper when I left but nope - he happily followed Jon right in the house and didn't look back (ouch). Jon's exactly the kind of person you would and should trust your fur babies with. read more

I had a family emergency that called me away suddenly. Unfortunately my regular pet sitter was fully booked, so I had to find someone else very quickly. I contacted Sunny Pets and heard back from Jon right away. He was very understanding of the time line I had and was super responsive in helping me get everything set up in such a short time frame. One of my kitties requires daily medication, so Sara, who recently graduated from vet tech school was assigned to their care while I was gone. This immediately put me at ease, as this was one of my major concerns. Also, both my cats obviously loved Sara, because they were happy to pose for many cute stories on Sunny Pets' Instagram, while I was out of town. Even though my trip was stressful, it was so nice to see their happy faces and to know that they were in good hands. I will definitely be hiring Sunny Pets again and would absolutely recommend them to any one. read more

My pup loves coming to Jon's everytime, he knows when we're pulling in and can't contain his excitement! I really enjoy the daily updated on their adventures for the day I'd highly recommend SunnyPets to anyone! read more

incredible care. dunkin never wants to leave! i'm so relaxed when i travel bc i know my dog is so well cared for

We are SO glad we found Sunny Pets. Jon was able to connect us with Angelica who has experience with diabetic kitties and insulin shots! We just moved to SD so we were in need of someone with experience. This is a tough skill to find with pet sitters and we are glad we have them in our life now. Angelica provided us numerous pictures of each visit with Taylor and always gave us an update of how she was doing. It was also neat to see Taylor featured on their Instagram story account! Jon was so quick to respond to our requests on short notice and had no problem accommodating our requests. Truly GREAT service from both! We HIGHLY recommend Sunny Pets for your pet sitting needs read more

Sunny Pets was the first person we've boarded our dog Gus with and we will never use anyone else. Jon was fantastic and he takes great care of all the dogs in his pack. Your dog will never be in a crate and gets so much exercise both at Jon's house and at the dog park. Can't recommend Sunny Pets enough! read more

I cannot say enough great things about Jon and Sunny Pets. Initially, I wanted to find a safe place for my velcro pup, Bear, to have time away from me and learn that being separated can be a great thing :) Sunny Pets has turned into Bear's "second home", and he LOVES going to daycare! I work from home and really do not need to put Bear in daycare, but because he loves it so much and it's been so great for him to build his confidence and get the socialization he craves, he goes multiple times a week. Jon has also watched Bear for a couple of overnights, and I know he is looking after him as if Bear were his own. I love that Bear is still in a home environment, with so much time outdoors and exploring new dog parks. So grateful to have found Jon and Sunny Pets! read more

We've relied on Jon / Sunny Pets multiple times in the past couple years for our dogsitting needs. Our four-year-old labradoodle has stayed with Jon overnight multiple times and has gone to the occasional park play as well. We appreciate Jon's reasonable and straight-forward pricing, especially his new online booking system! But our dog loves the attention Jon gives him during his stays and all the park and fetch visits! read more

We used Sunny Pets for overnight boarding for our dog while we were away for several days. It was recommended by a friend we trusted, and after meeting Jon we had a good feeling about the care our dog was going to receive. We got to see our dog hanging out at the park everyday on social media while we were away, and came home to him very happy and tired! The process of booking was so easy, prices were more than fair, and I felt confident that he requires a temperament test first before accepting any clients - our dog can be particular about people and other dogs too sometimes. 10/10 would recommend for any San Diego dog owners! read more

I've used Sunny Pets a few times and Jon is the absolute best! My 1 year old has a lot of energy to burn and Jon has always come through. He has friendly dogs of his own so Frida always has someone to play with. Thanks for being such a great help, Jon! Monet read more

We left our little guy with Jon for a few days and the experience was great! He had never been away from us for more than a few hours but he did well and we were perfectly comfortable leaving him with Jon. There were lots of other doggos for him to play with and he returned home to us safe and sound. We will use Sunny Pets for all of our future pet-free trips away from home! read more

Please READ the negative reviews (And receipts) BEFORE committing to this sitter. BEWARE of all the sneaky, tucked in hidden costs!!!!! Owner Jon becomes very rude and gets personal when asked for clarification about the charges!!!! See the attached 'receipts' by owner and see his attitude on his response below. read more

Sunny Pets is the best! Shortly after adopting our rescue, Bailey 'boy', my husband and I both had overnight work trips. We didn't (ever) want to board him in kennel facility, especially so soon after joining our family. Bailey LOVES other dogs, but is shy around new people. To our surprise, BB warmed up to Jon super quick at our first meet and greet. We we're convinced Jon was a dog whisperer and confident BB would be in great hands! We weren't wrong! Over two years later, we are still using Sunny Pets on a regular basis. BB still wiggles and whines with excitment every single time he sees Jon! (Even if he was just with him the day before) It always makes us smile watching the posted videos of BB playing with the pack and living his best life! We feel super lucky to have found Sunny Pets and highly recommend them! read more

Jon & his team have been walking Luna for close to five years now & we couldn't be happier with their service. I love seeing Luna on Instagram enjoying her time out at the park & on walks & I love love love when she gets home tired & naps all day. Please beware of this company, and read this in its entirety: it may save you thousands in medical bills due to negligence! Do not sign your rights away by agreeing to Sunny Pets Contract Terms. Jon and Ray are liars and have zero integrity... We have known Ray since middle school, and entered into the agreement with blind trust, which was a huge mistake. Our dog was injured while in Jon and Ray's care. After they denied anything had happened while in their watch (in fact, they claimed our dog bit himself on his ear, citing "self-injury"), we went to court, and lost due to the Hold Harmless clause. Basically, you leave your pet in the care of these hacks, and they don't actually "care" OR "watch" your fur baby... our dog was filthy and smelled awful, had dog bites on his ear and an injured paw... all of which required sutures, antibiotics, cast, bandages... what a mess! They admitted they noticed the dog was limping; but did not take the time to examine the dog! Jon, the owner, didn't have the decency to answer our calls about the injuries! He claims to love dogs, says he is an expert in dog /pet care. This was one instance where his "expertise" was a huge fail. Jon's partner sated that he never heard any dogfights at their house (which is where they board the animals, and they are not up to code) Funny... they never heard my husband ringing the doorbell when dropping our dog off... they were asleep and the delay almost caused us to miss our flight! So how would either of these ineffectual people hear a dog fight? Look at the pictures below, you tell me if these injuries did not cause a yelp or cry? If you drop your dog off to be cared for, wouldn't you expect a call if there was an injury or accident? Would you expect the associates to pay close attention to your pet while in their care? Would you be satisfied with a nonchalant "not our fault" and "oh well" attitude? read more

As recent transplants to San Diego, my GSD and I were in quite the bind when we discovered how little our housing budget got us. From my pup's perspective, a small apartment with no yard did not jive well with my long hours at work. For a while we tried to skate by on long morning walks and evenings at the park, but I could tell my little lady was thirsting for more excitement! Lucky for both of us I came across Sunny Pets. Having never used (or heard of) a dog walking service, I was slightly hesitant trusting someone new with my beloved. But I could only handle so many sad looks before leaving for work in the morning...so I made the plunge. Boy how I wish I would have found Sunny Pets sooner!! Jon is absolutely amazing. Super professional. Extremely flexible. Always courteous. The cat's meow. The dog's bollocks. And Selma (my pup) LOVES him and all the friends she gets to visit at the park. The unbridled joy she unleashes at the park is written all over her tired face whenever she gets home. Plus you can even see your furry friend enjoying themselves while you're at the rockpile - videos are on insta. So what are you waiting for?? read more

This was the first time using a puppy daycare service and we were pleased our 4 1/2 month old puppy was in good hands! Jon is responsive, reliable, and quite possibly a dog whisperer.
