Happy dog on his way to Fon Jon's
    Nancy I.

My dog has been going to Fon Jon since not long after we moved to San Diego. He has separation anxiety, but is always happy to go there. He gets super excited when we turn down the street they are on. Last time they said he paired himself off with another boarder of his same breed and they hit it off. He plays so hard when they board him that he sleeps for a solid day - I equate it to him attending a three day music festival.

I have had trouble finding boarding for my Malinois in the past but not anymore! I've used this facility for private boarding, group play boarding & day care for months and have no complaints. All of the staff go above and beyond to ensure both my dog and I have a good experience. My Malinois is shy and they took the time to get to know her and get her out of her shell. She loves going here! Got a tour of their facility and it is very clean and well kept. Prices are very reasonable. Thank you Fon Jon for taking care of my girl!

& a picture with friends!! I can't handle the cuteness. Our tiny babes have their own play area which teeny weeny Frank really appreciates!!

Fon Jon's Pet Care and K9 Training is an absolute dream! Being a new dog mom was initially overwhelming, but discovering Fon Jon's changed everything. Dropping off Frank is completely stress-free (even for a helicopter mom like me lol) The team at Fon Jon has palpable love and genuine care for every dog that walks through their doors. It's clear that the entire team not only loves their job but also has a deep affection for the dogs in their care. Everyone immediately knew Frank by name and even helped me get gum out from between his toes!! I consider myself incredibly fortunate to have found such a dedicated and caring place for Frank. Leaving him in their care feels like I'm leaving him with family (who happen to be dog experts!) Frank absolutely adores going to Fon Jon's. Every time I pick him up, he's happily tired out from all the fun and activity. It's truly heartwarming to see how much he enjoys his time there. Fon Jon's is more than just a pet care facility--it's a sanctuary where dogs are loved, cared for, and thoroughly enjoy themselves. I couldn't recommend it more highly!

This place is excellent!!! You can tell they just love dogs so much and that really helps when I'm leaving my fur babies here! Everyone is so kind and gave all three of my pups lots of love and attention while I was out of town! They even had a birthday celebration for one of my puppies who had her birthday while I was traveling. They give you scan cards to check them in for day boarding and everything is ran very efficiently. Thanks everyone for taking such good care of my babies !!!

I am so in love with this place and their style of training and their wonderful facility and their outstanding staff. We got our dog from Man K-9 and met with the trainers from Fon Jon Pet Care, and I've never been more impressed. They are so helpful and thoughtful and responsive to your specific dogs and your family and your environment. We met with Fon and Ricky on different occasions, and they were both just seriously incredible. Understood our dog and personalized their training for her. This wasn't copy paste training but showed how much they really do pay thoughtful attention and help you with your pup and your needs. Best I've ever had, hands down. Also our girl really loves them, and she's a picky little bitch! ;-)

THEY LET MY DOG ESCAPE AND NEVER CALLED ME TO APOLOGIZE! DO NOT TAKE YOUR DOG HERE! I took my husky to daycare here for about a year. My husky has separation anxiety because she is a rescue. She was nervous about daycare. I asked if she could leave her collar on because she has a GPS tracker on it. I had to speak to the manager about this because they take them off for "safety". I was assured Mimi's would stay on. I reminded the staff every time I dropped her off that her collar stays on. One day I got a call from them while I was at work and the lady was frantic and said that my dog had escaped. Apparently another dog was being walked out to their owner and mine just followed without being noticed by the employee (their employees don't take their job seriously). I said ok, let me look on her GPS, you kept her collar on right?... no they took it off. I frantically left work knowing that my dog will not go to a stranger and that their facility is right next to the 5 freeway. I thought that the next call I would get was that my dog was roadkill. I called everyone I knew in town and had a search party out for my dog. They sent ONE employee. Luckily the next call that I got was from the humane society saying that someone had wrestled my dog to the ground as she was crossing traffic on balboa. I never received a call from them apologizing. They comp'd her stay THAT DAY. This is also the second review that I have left because they deleted my last one. These people do not care about your beloved animal. Proceed with caution. Below is how she looked when she came home. Her coat is usually bright white.

STAY AWAY Not one to leave a review... but in this case here we go. My fiancé reached out to Fon Jon grooming inquiring about having our Malamute/Husky groomed at the location, she had a few questions (as anyone does when trying a new groomer) our main questions were in regards to the process and what it entails. Our main concern was that they would not shave our dog because it's really bad for a husky skin to shave. We then called when he was ready to be picked up after being there for 4 hours, and the employee had told us that they had not even started on him and were getting ready to begin, so we waited. When we picked him up, we noticed that something was wrong. He kept on yelping in pain when he lifted his leg to urinate and stretch. We took a closer look at his stomach and then noticed that he had SEVERE inflammation and two areas that were beginning to bleed. He wouldn't eat, refused to go outside, and only wanted to hide in areas he couldn't be disturbed, so we went to the next step and went our vet. The vet quickly diagnosed that he had an infection on his stomach from being shaved to the skin, and prescribed a few antibiotics, rubs and anti inflammatory meds. $480 later (and a lot of pain) my fiancé decided to call Fon Jon's. She called explaining what was going on with our dog and how is at the vet, and the man that answered had this to say... "we knew you were going to be a problem considering how many questions you were asking before we groomed him" and then hung up. We're going to work in the best of our ability to make sure nobody we know/has a furry friend ever visits this clinic again.

Fon Jon has been our go to place for boarding for the last 5 years. The facility is ALWAYS clean, well maintained and secure. I keep coming back because of Fon Jon's staff. They are amazing and I adore them! They are so sweet, attentive, knowledgable and genuinely care about your pets. Making a reservation is so easy and they are very accommodating. Whenever I leave my babies in their care I have peace of mind that they are safe and well taken care of. I've never had a bad experience with Fon Jon and I highly recommend them.

Walter is our new English Bulldog pupperoni (11 months) who loves to be around other dogs, though still learning Ps and Qs. We wanted to find a new daycare for them and came across this lovely place on yelp. I emailed them to set up a visit and they were very nice and accommodating. Everyone is sweet, you can tell they love our animals and they are professional. We stopped in on a Saturday morning and were able to check out the play area from the window in the lobby (also watched the video on their website) and they let us into the suites area since there were no dogs in there. When Ruth stays for the day, she stays in their suite and probably loves the break from Walter. Walter goes into the playgroup with the other pups. They asked for all the vaccinations and will ask for updated vaccines as well, which we love and feel very comfortable with. We know we stay up to date with everything and we want to be sure our pups are around other pups that have everything updated as well. We love the report cards. Especially since Walter is so young, we like to see how he is doing with the other dogs. I added some of the pics from their recent visit. Just look how happy he is and Ruth loves the big suite and comfy bed. We are very happy with this wonderful daycare.

The standard "suites" are kennels with plastic doors and are not soundproof, so dogs constantly hear other dogs barking or panicking unless you pay extra for an upgraded "suite" (similar to setups at the San Diego Humane Society). Webcams are only available in the play areas unless you pay for that upgrade, so there is no way to monitor your dog while they're in regular boarding. Playgroups are divided into "large" and "smaller" dogs, with "smaller" defined as up to 45 lbs -- something that is not clearly communicated or written on the website. I saw a golden retriever in the small dog group a one point, which raises serious concerns about how size and safety are handled. The facility is understaffed. At times, I saw one employee responsible for both kennel areas. There were piles of urine and feces left in play areas, dogs running through them, and periods where dogs were not actively supervised. The large and small dog areas face each other with only the fence to divide them, which creates unnecessary reactivity. Most concerning, my dog came home with dried urine and feces stuck to his belly and paws. When I brought it up, I was told "that happens sometimes." It took me an hour to fully bathe and brush him out due to matting from laying in urine. The kind staff unfortunately does not make up for the lack of cleanliness, supervision, and transparency issues. For a business of this size and reported revenue, these conditions for the dogs and employees are unacceptable. Update: After I posted this review, the manager, Jasmine, contacted me and claimed my dog's condition was due to "aggressive behavior." However, he was only there for two days, and no aggression was ever communicated to me or documented in his report cards. When I questioned the lack of documentation, Jasmine simply said, "Sorry about that." If his behavior had truly impacted his care, I would have expected immediate notification and written documentation -- not an explanation offered only after I raised concerns about him running into doors, stumbling, and having urine and poop all over him.

I had a family emergency and had to leave town very last minute, like I bought a plane ticket at 5:30am that left at 8:30am kinda last minute. I was so nervous about leaving my pup behind but as soon as I got to Camp I felt better. He loves everyone there so much and they are so sweet to him. I rushed in with a bag full of food and supplements and no time to leave instructions for any of it. The staff, particularly Dakota (thank you dear!) was very helpful and understanding of my situation. She even helped me find a good spot to leave my car so I could Uber to the airport. They took care of everything for my dog so I could focus on getting home to my family. While I was out of town I was sent pictures and updates of Smooch daily and of course it was so great to be able to watch him on the mutt cams! I also love that it's all cage-free. I couldn't stand the thought of my sweet boy being in a kennel all night and I much prefer him sleeping in a giant cuddle puddle of dogs. If I didn't already absolutely love Camp Run-A-Mutt I definitely would now. I feel like it's been about three years I've been bringing Smooch here and I have never had a bad experience. We soon realized that our puppy needed more than just walks, training, and playtime at home with us. We were looking at other daycare locations, when our trainer recommended Dog Days to us. Surprisingly, our pup was pretty shy the first day, but he started to open up as the hours went by. He's now been there a few times and seems to be making friends and enjoying it. It definitely tires him out! Our pup will now be going regularly twice a week. At his last visit, we added on a bath and he came home smelling fresh and clean. We'll be trying out the boarding services as well. Tips: -They do sell daycare and boarding packages, so you can save money by purchasing those. -Reservations can be made online; however, they are not confirmed until they accept it (you will get an email confirmation). It typically does not take long for the reservation to be confirmed. My last reservations were accepted in minutes. -If you need to cancel a reservation, be sure to do so 24 hours in advance, or you will be charged a fee. -Currently there is only one customer allowed in the lobby at a time (masks on).
