They sell a variety of dog treats (chicken feet, pig ears, etc), treatment shampoos, and any other dog care item you might be looking for. They're super friendly and always offer to take everything to the car (I've watched them do it for multiple customers). This is a business I can rely on! read more

Very nice and helpful staff. I got my baby chicks here. They have what you need for pets and farm animals. They've been super accommodating when I call to ask questions as well. Consistently providing great supplies for all my animal needs. From normal, like hard for horses and goats, too weirdly obscure, like a!50 pound bag of guinea pig food. Great for larger orders needing delivery, too. Only negative is sometimes communication is lacking, but that's a minor gripe that's almost always squared away in each situation. read more

Very helpful staff! I called a couple times with a few supply questions and logistics of how shopping with 3 young children and a stroller would work. They patiently answered my questions and said they would be happy to pull items and carry them to the counter for me. Also, they were not going to refuse service to me if I chose not to mask my young children. (THANK YOU!!!) True to their word when I came in and after we were done being distracted by the cute little chicks and ducklings. I asked for help figuring out what we would need to care for our new bunny and they walked me to the right shelves and told me about my options there and bulk options located elsewhere. They also very willingly helped carry things out to my van and I saw them do that for many other customers too. I am happy to shop at a locally owned business and will go back here to get any other pet supplies in the future. read more

I recently discovered this place & I'm so happy I did! My family recently got baby chicks and I didn't want to drive all the way to tractor supply in El Cajon to grab some food so I looked up on yelp if there was any feed store nearby. I live 10 minutes away so this location was super convenient for me. Prices are reasonable and there's tons of foods and treats for all kinds of farm animals and pets. They've got the organic crumble chicken feed that I like at a reasonable price, and I appreciate that the sales guy loads the bag into the back of my Tahoe for me. Nice place, organized and helpful employees. We got 2 baby chicks from here in July (Buff Orpington and Araucana). They also had Golden Comets and Rhode Island Reds. I would call ahead and ask what types of chickens are available. They sell Organic Chicken Feed, which is a plus. Also if you bring a trashbag and shovel, you can also scoop up straw that falls off the bales for your chickens' nests for free. Even though it's a little far for me to drive out to Jamul, another perk is that there's a fruit stand/market across the street that has amazing deals on produce. 5 med avocados for 99 cents, 4 mangos for 99 cents, etc... read more

If your an animal lover please don't patronize this place! Please go up the hill to Jamul Feed or Descanso Feed. The owner keeps animals on premises and fails to care for them. The neglect ranges from lack of food, clean water, shelter from the sun to death. One goat has already died due to his unwillingness to get medical attention for the goat in a timely manner. The owners lack of compassion and unwillingness to care for these animals is an abomination. A year and a half ago he allowed a very sick goat to lay in it's diarrhea until I came and rescued it. At that time, I asked him about the sick goat and his response was "they're not my goats there's my friends, I can't do anything about it". The sick goat was in a pen with another visibly sick goat, but the second goat could still stand unlike it's sibling (see pic below). The store owner would not get it medical care, so I was forced to "buy" both goats to get them medical attention. Unfortunately the goat that could not stand died the following morning, before we could get it to the vet. However, I was able to save the second goat and today it lives on our property, healthy and away from that hell hole he keeps. Unfortunately, this is not an isolated incidence. Since that time I have had to call animal control on this business several times due to the owners lack of care for animals on his property. Which, by the way he is legally required to do, whether or not he actually owns the animals. About eight months ago a different goat apparently gave birth to two goats on his property, and he left a stillborn goat, still in its sack, lying in the yard for days. Currently he has three goats on the property and one is visibly ill. I have pointed this out to his staff (because he was not on premises at that time) and asked them to take care of the animal. My request was met with smirks, but I'm hoping they or the owner will get the goat to a vet. However if he chooses not to, I will be forced to call animal control again. Please do not patronize this store! The owner, keeps and sells animals on premises, but fails to take responsibility for them. read more

Great feed and pet supply store. Their prices are lower than other pet supply stores and the selection here is good. They even sell various kinds of baby chickens. The employee manning the store was knowledgable and attentive (without following us around as though he suspected us of being potential shoplifters). Plenty of free parking. Great local family owned store, been going here for years, it is a feed store, all that stuff at every store is expensive, thats part of having animals, they kind of got you but the service is great, I have never had a bad customer service experience at all, Sam is awesome and his help is super nice, bunch of young guys. I am not sure that one reviewer was talking about when she said rude people, that has never, never happened, the only thing I can think is that is a competators review trying to make them sound aweful. The men that work there have attitude and seem like they are annoyed at every question you ask . If you don't like your job, then quit but don't provide a negative experience for a customer who is just trying to shop. While this place is very convenient for me, and the store itself is great-I like the Wild West look, and they have enough variety that I could sometimes avoid chains like Petco by stopping here first-I started buying my vaccines and other pet purchases online because it's employees really need find other jobs if they are so unhappy, rather than take it out on customers such as myself. Especially the snickering angry bearded guy who groaned at me for asking a question, rolled his eyes, and slammed the glass vax viles down on the counter so hard I had to check they hadn't broken. (This guy looked way too old to be some sulky teenage nephew the owners can't fire. ) I thought about asking the other more pleasant seeming employee if I had done something, but realized on the way out that it was simpler just to stop using this store. And note to management: this is what most customers will do if you don't reign in employees with an attitude/chip on their shoulder. You might want to remind ingrate employees about the recession or something similar. read more

Ranch Feed is a great store. Employees are very friendly and the huge bags are carried to the car for me. Right now I am extra thankful for the A&M product and the Perfectly Senior mix for older horses. We have three elderly horses and they live on this. I have been very pleased with all my dealings with Ranch Feed. First I bought a little Red Barn chicken coop kit from them. It is the first kit that has gone together like a dream without any defects. I bought all my feeding, watering and food needs right there. Then, I ordered 15 bantam chicks, knowing that I would probably have some roosters and only wanting 6-9 hens. My chicks are close to 3 months old now and I do have a few roosters. The great news is that Ranch Feed will take back any roosters that I have. They won't pay for them, but I am thrilled to have a safe place to take them. Thank you Ranch Feed! read more
