Lunch sushi

True Japanese food. Kitchen is run by a Japanese chef. Reasonably priced, local business, not a chain restaurant. All food are nicely prepared and fresh.

This is a HIDDEN GEM in Mahwah. My goto Korean Japanese take out spot…read more Lunch specials are EXCELLET. **Yelp states they don't open for lunch but they do open for lunch.** Make sure you are hungry because the portions are HUGE. My favorite is the Korean Bibimbap or Hwe Dup Bap (if you like raw fish) Lunch Special. The quality and taste is amazing you won't regret it. If you like specialty sushi rolls, favorites are Hanabi roll (if you like tuna and salmon) or Tuna Fashion roll (if you like tuna). Only a select one or two sushi restaurants in the area can compare. If you like sashimi, the Toro is AMAZING and won't break your wallet like at other places! For the kiddos I would recommend the chicken and vegetable fried rice. Great for adults too! Really cannot recommend this place enough. If you go once, you will keep going back. Be sure to come back here and thank me by liking my review!

It looked very dirty and messy. I was contemplating if I should just cancelled my order and leave when I checked the reviews and then decided to try it. I got a salmon roll and shrimp tempura roll and my daughter said it was probably the best Sushi she had in a while.

THE FOOD ----------------…read more+ Typical AYCE sushi and sashimi menu with a variety kitchen and sushi menu items listed out on an ordering sheet - small salads, appetizers, soups, tempura, noodles, hibachi, teriyaki, desserts/ice cream, sashimi, sushi, sushi rolls and special rolls. + Kitchen food items were all good, no complaints. Each serving of the kitchen items was a small appetizer portion of food. Highlights included: ++++ Tempura was superrrr hot and fresh. ++++ Loved that the Kani Salad had tempura flakes mixed in to add texture. ++++ Hibachi beef was very tasty. + AYCE fish quality (salmon, eel, white tuna, pepper salmon, egg custard, etc.) were all very fresh and very good. Tried just about all of the sashimi options and there were no issues with any of it. + Restaurant also has a cajun food/boil menu too! THE SERVICE ------------------- + Waiters and waitresses (including the helper kids) were all very quick with bringing food out and removing dirty plates to prevent overcrowding on our table. THE SURROUNDINGS ------------------------------- + Very spacious interior with lots of tables. + Private parking lot is shared with a tile business. Spaces in front were occupied, but there were more spaces towards the side by the other business. RANDOM OBSERVATIONS -------------------------------------- = Was busy on an August Friday evening at 6-7:30 PM, but there were still plenty of open tables. = Oddly, they ran out of white tuna around 7 PM and posted it on their entrances so that new customers would be aware. Kind of strange that they ran out of inventory

Sangria's has been a go-to for us for years for good tapas and sangria, but we've now had issues on…read moreour last two visits, and this most recent one was especially frustrating. The food is still great. We had scallops, chorizo, brussels sprouts, and a flounder ceviche special. Everything was delicious. The ceviche in particular stood out -- fresh, well-portioned, and nicely "cooked" in lime juice. The sangria is still a highlight too. A big carafe, no ice watering it down, served with glasses full of fruit. The problem is the service. They had two servers and one bus person, and it showed. Everyone seemed to be scrambling, and it was hard to get a moment of attention to ask for anything or even be heard. Our food came out in pieces -- three items, then a long delay, then another. The last dish, calamari, never came. When I tried to tell the waiter we didn't want it anymore if it was forgotten, he didn't listen and insisted on bringing it anyway. We ended up waiting even longer, which just made the experience more frustrating. To top it off, they're now adding an operating/service fee (around 3-4%), which wasn't clearly communicated and just showed up on the bill. It's disappointing because the food is still very good, but the service issues -- and now the added fees -- are taking away from the experience. After this visit, we'll think twice before coming back.
