Set D ( Assorted Meat).
Cindy Z.

Korean BBQ brings a wonderful authentic KBBQ experience to Edinburgh that I am very happy about. If you are new to the cuisine, it's a method of grilling meat such as beef, chicken or pork on gas or charcoal grills inlaid into the dining table itself. The self-cooking makes for a fun dining experience, especially in groups. To start off, they give you a salad and two banchans (beansprouts and carrots). This is very minimal from what I am used to in US, but better than nothing I suppose. The other banchans like kimchi cost extra money unfortunately. For food, our group of four ordered Set D - Assorted Meat (£41.90), Seafood Pancake (£6.80), Kimchi Jjigae (£9.50), Japchae (£9.50), and two Hite Beer (£3.50 each). This was a good amount of food for all of us, although I probably would skip on the Kimchi Jjigae as it was difficult to share as a group. It's still a great dish if you like spicy soup though, which also comes with a bowl of rice --good for individuals. The other dishes we ordered were very tasty from the seafood pancake to the japchae, which everyone enjoyed. Now of course the meat is the star of the show here. I like that you can order sets, which helps those who are indecisive and provide variety. Set D consisted of Beef Ribeye, Pork Belly, Beef Slice, Pork Neck Slice, Chicken Thigh, and 2 Beers, which is a good deal compared to selecting everything a la carte. My favorite types of meat, especially for KBBQ is beef and pork because chicken takes longer to grill. When you have to work for your food, you get more hungry and need it done quicker. I found that I love the marinated meats so much more here, so highly recommend those options if you were to go a la carte. The marinade in the meat gives it so much flavor, which goes wonderfully wrapped in the lettuce leaves and chili bean sauce. Overall, great authentic KBBQ spot. Since this is quite a rare find in this city, you will need to be sure to make a reservation a few days ahead on their website to ensure you get a table. Also note that KBBQ can leave a smoky and meaty smell lingering in your clothes, so don't be alarmed; but you'll find a tasty experience that makes it all worth it!

I'm a huge fan of Korean food and have been in too many Korean restaurants to count in many cities (Dublin, Tokyo, Osaka, Austria, London, Manchester, Seoul etc..), and this one is a definite 5 star. It was very authentic, we were also the only two non-Korean people in the entire restaurant which was full and booked out for the night. We ordered the Kimchi pancake and tofu bibimbap, both of which tasted just like in Korea, I savoured every bite! Not all Korean restaurants outside Korea seem to give the complimentary starters, but Korean BBQ does, which was great. The prices were standard, each main ranging around £10-12. The service was efficient and good, no complaints. A word of warning, this place is extremely popular, even on weekdays. We came on a Saturday to find it booked out so I made a reservation the following Monday online, which was ok. While we were there, the place was a full house and the waitress was turning down those without reservations as it was booked out until around 8:30pm. The online booking is easy and quick, it fills up fast. I booked two days in advance for a Monday night, and the latest available was 6:30pm, with nothing available any later. So I advise booking quite a bit in advance or be ready to eat either early or late, as the 7-9pm times seem to get taken fast as the restaurant is small and seems to be very popular with Koreans in Edinburgh, meaning that it must be the real thing!

I enjoyed eating at Korean BBQ. I'm pretty used to KBBQ joints from the ones back home in the DC area to well-known places in Seoul, and this place was pretty comparable overall! The staff was quite nice and prompt, especially when it came to changing out the grills. The meat was good (we got 2 sets and it fed 6 people comfortably). The grills cooked the meat nicely and I love when the fat on the pork belly gets crispy. Kimchi is extra but the banchan overall was pretty good even though it's not a lot. I really liked the marinated bean sprouts! As far as Korean BBQ goes, this is probably the best place in Edinburgh (according to my Edinburgh friends) and I can confirm it's a good place to get your fix!

This is a winner! Definitely very nice Korean BBQ, with Korean staff (unlike most other places run by Chinese). Well marinated and good selection of meats. Sides a little sparse but everything very tasty.

Absolutely amazing! I've missed cook it yourself grills from living in Thailand and this place lives up to the originals in SE Asia! Free and unlimited sides were a big plus and the big platter of meat was delicious. This place was so good that I booked a reservation for the next night whilst in the restaurant!

Awesome place. Food and service were great. It was a busy Friday night so we had to wait a bit to order but the food was delicious and our waiters (2 of them) did a nice job. Food was flavorful and not over salty. One small grip was that the hot tea we ordered was watered down. The picture covers it well. I'd return.

*Disclaimer! I'm Korean from Hawaii, lived all over the world and eat Korean food in every city I visit. My tastes probably differ from the average person who doesn't go out of their way to find good korean joints. !! So this is the top rated place for Korean food in Edinburgh...the set up is nice but the staff isn't as friendly as other places we've been. Upon walking in we first notice the aroma...so far so good! The waitress is Chinese (not that it matters), so don't be surprised if you don't get the normal "hello!" when walking in. Banchan () was ok, and more limited than when I'm used to back in the states -3 instead of 6 or 7 types. The traditional cabbage kim chee is a menu item and you have to pay for it. The mandu options were veggie or chicken...no pork?! Still yummy even if it wasn't the normal pork but they seemed to be store bought and not home made. Our drinks came out after 10 mins (just water and tea folks) the banchan. The meat itself looked good - we got the normal gal-bi and after cooking it on our little hibachi grill tasted the closest I've ever eaten outside of Hawaii that tasted like local Korean BBQ. The dolsot bi-bim-bap was spot on too and I liked how they put the shredded daikon kimchee in it. Oh, and it had a lot of beef in it too! This is in my top 5 of best korean food I've ever had - worldwide (Hawaii, Cali, VA and S. Korea food is better!) BLUF: Eat here if you want delicious Korean BBQ in Edinburgh. They offer the basics in what you'd see in S.Korea and Japan, but fall short of the extensive menu's I'm used to in Cali and Hawaii.

The food to me was only okay, but it's fun to cook it yourself! I probably just ordered the wrong things. Friendly staff

This one beats all the Korean BBQ that I've ever had in NYC. The marinated beef set is very juicy and fresh. Trust me you will like it.

Maki & Ramen - Spicy Chicken Teriyaki & Chicken Gyoza

Maki & Ramen

We chose the latter due to the fact that I'd never heard of this UK chain of Japanese restaurants. I also found the menu to be unique with the dietary-friendly halal, vegetarian, and GF offerings. Not many Japanese restaurants have that. We were welcomed in with the sound of a taiko drum. They tap the drum when entering and before being seated. I found it odd at first, but now I understand after reading about this traditional welcome. The restaurant was filling up fast. We thankfully were seated in a 2 seater booth by the window. It was completely full by the time we left. All the ramen choices looked fantastic. I've never seen such a huge variety of unique flavors. I was drawn to the Shio Yuzu and Shio Truffle. It was a tough decision, but the truffle won that battle. It ended up being a great choice. The truffle really brings out the flavor of the rice in the noodles. Although, these noodles were already pretty special. I think they make them here. There was a good amount of chicken, and that ramen egg was absolutely delicious. A perfectly made custardy yolk. I should have ordered an additional one. My husband's Spicy Chicken Teriyaki with rice was good, but not great. His words, not mine. I didn't try it because I'm not a fan of teriyaki sauce. The chicken gyoza were also pretty good. I was also super happy with the Yuzu Ice Tea from the Mocktail menu. It was very mojito-esque without the rum. A refreshing drink. The service was good. The atmosphere is very lively. I didn't really get a chance to take pictures inside. The décor is lovely, but more enjoyable when it's less crowded. I'd revisit it again if ever in this region. I may have to try their Black Garlic Tonkotsu ramen next time.

What a nice stumbling surprise on a very cold night after touring Edinburgh all day…read more We got there probably an hour before closing. The staff were very friendly and super helpful with recommendations. We ordered a couple of appetizers and some ramens and I must admit that every bite was mouthwatering
