Great Korean restaurant. Even better than Kim's although Kim's is on the Michelin list. Exactly the same taste I had in my Korean classmate's home. A very small restaurant with reasonable prices so better reserve a table before coming. They serve a great variety of food and a soup with shellfish and tofu was the best Korean food I ever had(name forgotten). Great place to dine with two or three friends in a cold winter night.surely would like to go again.

So we decided to order to go. I liked that they had a very clear menu showing how to order. We got the bibimbap beef Bulgogi and spicy pork, rice bowl with sweet soy chicken and beef Bulgogi. Also, got the Korean sweet pancake which was only available during lunchtime. I liked the beef bulgogi more than spicy pork. Beef was well seasoned and tender. Sweet soy chicken was okay - good flavor but the breading on the chicken was too thick and hard. For kimchi lovers, you will have to order as side dish and its 3 GBP for tiny portion. Overall, generous portion with reasonable price but I was not impressed with the quality of food here.

The menu is fairly simple with a few starters, rice dishes, noodle dishes, and bibimbap dishes for a reasonable price. My flatmate and I shared the Veggie Dumplings (£3.50). Even though it said it comes with 5pcs, we got 6pcs instead to share equally, which was a kind gesture. The dumpings were super crispy, which almost made me forget they were vegetarian. As for my main dish, I ordered the Fire Chicken Bulgogi with Noodles (£7.50). As a huge fan of japchae (glass noodles), it was an obvious choice for me to pick the noodles over rice. The dish also came with a heap of japchae, which was so flavorful and tasty. The fire chicken was also nicely marinated with a good kick of spice. While rice could help balance the intense flavors of the chicken, I wouldn't want it any other way. If you're looking for comfort Korean food, this spot is the best. We were overstuffed and completely satisfied by the end of our meal. It's good to know Kim's Bulgogi is around whenever I have a Korean craving on the cheap. Don't be turned away by the small and secluded shop; the food is worth it!

Ong Gie - The best toilet in a restaurant. The cleanest that I have seen so far. Its all about attention to details here.

I guess you cater to your population, and the sides may not be that popular. However, what we did get, the kimchi and the bean sprouts, were delicious. Also, they need to provide some different Korean BBQ dipping sauces, and the most simple being the sesame oil with salt. More side dishes that came with the BBQ and proper dipping sauces and this place would be 5 stars.

Still, you are able to order drinks the old fashioned way, using a menu. The place is big enough to cater for larger groups. Not many so. Try to avoid a table near the toilet. It would disturb you when people pass by, constantly. The tables we got had their own grills incorporated into the tables. A few of us chose to grill their meat and vegetables. Personally I prefer to get my food served straight away and not desperately waiting for a grill to finish. But I could see my mates were happy with their option. Think the prices offered were from £12 upwards for a grill set. I ordered pork dumplings as a starter and a beef dish as a main. I can remember only the number 41 as reference to the main. Sadly I was not able to spell its name. I also learned that the name Ong Gie is referring to some sort of pottery. My dishes were well prepared and held plenty of taste. Needless to say. I ate it all. The vegetables that came with the mains were fresh and crispy. Even the service was a bit slow, or maybe it only appeared like it due to me starving, the people were all really polite. Their english might be a bit rusty, but the waitresses are adorable. Korean might not be my kind of food, but I can definitely recommend this place to any lover of Korean food.

And now, my friends - behold! From the choking ashes of disgrace, a phoenix! From the waxy cocoon of shame, a butterfly! From the... from the grubby skip of dismay, a - er - an armchair of joy! Yes! Go with it! An ARMCHAIR OF JOY! (Legal note. There are no armchairs, butterflies or phoenixes in Cafe Andamiro.) Cafe Andamiro is good. The fact it was as busy as it was today, just a standard Tuesday lunchtime, is testament to how good. It offers the curious combination of Japanese and Korean food - curious, I think, because I think of these very much as opposites, Japanese food being very fresh and light, and Korean food being quite stodgy and greasy. But for this reason, there's probably something on the menu that everyone will like. Blythe R and I ordered the Korean dumplings to share as a starter, joking about how we would fight over the fifth and final dumpling, but when we mentioned that we were sharing, they in fact very kindly brought us six! They were really lovely - fried crispy on one side and very hot in the middle. My Jap Chae was a riot of colour, which is perfect - nobody wants a mess of brown when glass noodles are involved. It all starts to looks fearsomely biological when that's the case. But these were beautiful fresh vegetables, and it was sweet and delicious and, for the price (£5.99) HUGE. I was so full at the end that I wasn't sure I'd make it home... And now to my personal favourite bit. As you will see from the pictures - adorable china! Such adorable china! The green tea came in these super-cute floral teacups and a gorgeous matching teapot. The whole set was so "KAWAII!" (They also have a rather lovely Portmeirion Botanic Gardens soap dispenser in the little bathroom at the back, by the way). Even my Jap Chae, while Blythe's mighty bibimbap came in an ultra-impressive stone vessel like something from the Round Table, was served in a delicate little dish with a gold rim. Oh, I was so happy. The prices were fantastic and the service superb too. In fact, the only thing letting this place down, in my eyes, is that it feels ever so slightly on the cramped side. But for a casual lunch, it's the eel's hips! I can't wait to come back and try... all those cakes... :O

I came here with some mates in December last year as an interesting alternative to the usual Indian or Chinese takeaways and we certainly weren't disappointed by the quality of the food. Korean food is similar to Chinese and Japanese cuisine, yet there are more things like kebabs and dumplings. I went for the barbecued beef which was served in a delcious mild sauce with fried rice. The food didn't take long to be prepared and was filling as well as tasty. It did cost about £10 per person though, which isn't cheap considering it was just a takeaway. Ong Gie is an excellent Korean eatery, but it comes at a price to match.

A fairly new addition to the Southside area, Ong Gie has some competition, considering the number of takeaways and restaurants nearby, for its mostly student clientele. Near to George Square and the main library, many a student will pass this takeaway on their way home from evening study. Being something a bit different gives Ong Gie somewhat of an advantage. Not bad for a lazy takeaway, especially if you want something a bit different, but with room for improvement. I've tried takeaway from here a couple of times and its always been okay. There is a reasonable menu, with quite a variety to choose from but once it arrives its not always as exciting as the menu make it out to be. Service can be a little slow but on the whole the staff are friendly. This gives Ong Gie
