I love Wagamama. They have a great healthy and tasty selection. I am big fan of their bowls. The decor is cool casual, very modern and a lot of space.

Our party stopped at Wagamama a bit after 21:00. There wasn't long of a wait and we were seated within 5 minutes. The restaurant itself has plenty of seating on the main floor but also has an upstairs seating area. The service staff was extremely friendly. Drinks arrived promptly and food came quickly after (though this might be because of the late hour and fewer patrons). For my drink, I ordered the "Green Samurai" which is a blend of melon liqueur, yuzu, and Asashi beer. It was excellent! Other members of our party really enjoyed the Cherry Blossom Lemonade and the Yuzu + Lychee tonic. As an appetizer, we ordered a round of the vegan K-dogs. Covered in crunchy noodles, a vegan mayo and sriracha, these protein-packed corndogs were delicious! For a main, I went with the Vegatsu (a vegan take on a chicken katsu). The curry sauce was delicious and the tofu had a nice, crisp, fried breading. It was a very filling dish. I also sampled my partner's tofu gochujang rice bowl. It had a pleasant kick of spice and a medley of delicious vegetable flavors. Overall, the food was incredible and the atmosphere was lovely. I would definitely visit again!

Located on St. James Quarter on St. Andrew's Square, it gets very busy and you will likely be in a queue to eat. There's seats upstairs but I didn't see anyone being seated up there. It's minimalistic and many seats are on a long table so you could be seated with others you don't know. We ordered pork belly bao as a starter, but it came out after our yakisoba and chicken yakitori skewers. It's a chain restaurant so the food was average, the bao was the best tasting food we ordered.

I was craving ramen, so came to Wagamama for their Asian fusion menu. The space is modern and airy with the high ceilings that I liked. They also have an open kitchen. For food, I ordered the Tori Karaage (£5.75) and Shirodashi Pork Belly Ramen (£11.25) since I was pretty hungry. Both came at the same time, which didn't help my hunger as I was hoping I'd have the starter to munch on while waiting. Anyways, the karaage was tasty, but such a tiny dish with only about 5 pieces. Now with the ramen, the broth was quite flavorless. I added a lot of extra chili oil and chili peppers to help it a tad bit. Honestly, the ramen was not bad but not great; but it did suffice my cravings. I did enjoy the broth from my friend's Tantanmen Beef Brisket Ramen better, so hopefully I'd have to try other items from the menu next time.

First wagamama experience- it's casual dining but prices are more mid tier. I liked my Yaki Udon- it's more like a stir fried noodle dish with veggies and chicken/shrimp. I liked this warm meal on a cold day. Not too salty and I added some chili to make it a little spicy. I also got a green juice, which was fresh and tasted great. Good fast dining option.

Stumbled upon this place by accident and decided to give it a go. Our daughter has a lot of food allergies so what really impressed us was the accessibility of their specialty menus (e.g. gluten free, etc.). They even gave us a binder that broke down the ingredients on these particular menus and our server offered for both her manager and chef to come have a quick chat with us regarding our daughter's allergies. I'm not sure if it's typical Wagamama protocol or more so the U.K.'s way of handling food allergies; however, we found all of the staff we encountered to be patient and accommodating without us even asking. My daughter enjoyed her first bowl of ramen from a restaurant. We loved being able to eat ramen as a family together. Although my husband would argue that the flavor of his chicken ramen was more so pho than ramen. I enjoyed my shirodashi ramen; however, it is not the style of ramen I typically prefer.

    Shirodashi pork ramen - DELICIOUS!!!

You can pass by this place in Edinburgh and literally never know it exists…read more If anything gets full marks, it's the decor. First off, you walk down these stairs from the street to get to it. When you enter the restaurant, the decor definitely is the first thing you notice. Very traditional Japanese decor all around. I've been to many Japanese restaurants in the states and majority are not nearly decked out as this place. Food and service is solid too. The only reason I couldn't rate it any higher is because the food tastes like "a normal" spot I've had before. The Katsu was cooked perfectly but the curry just seemed only a little above average. The Tonkotsu Ramen also didn't have as much flavor as I was hoping. I'm not trying to say any of the food is bad. Not even saying it's mid. It's just the flavors really didn't do anything to blow the socks off my taste buds and that's my fault. I'm spoiled because I live in the Bay Area of California where I have an abundance of Japanese restaurants to choose from. I also went to Japan for the first time this year so again, I've been fortunate enough to be able try a lot of different places. Don't get it twisted though. I highly recommend Kenji Sushi. If I lived in Edinburgh I'd probably be coming here a lot. Especially if I had never had Japanese food before. I think it's amazing that the city has diverse food options like this that are actually good. It helps that it looks fancy inside too. Kenji would be a great place to take someone on a date.

We chose the latter due to the fact that I'd never heard of this UK chain of Japanese restaurants. I also found the menu to be unique with the dietary-friendly halal, vegetarian, and GF offerings. Not many Japanese restaurants have that. We were welcomed in with the sound of a taiko drum. They tap the drum when entering and before being seated. I found it odd at first, but now I understand after reading about this traditional welcome. The restaurant was filling up fast. We thankfully were seated in a 2 seater booth by the window. It was completely full by the time we left. All the ramen choices looked fantastic. I've never seen such a huge variety of unique flavors. I was drawn to the Shio Yuzu and Shio Truffle. It was a tough decision, but the truffle won that battle. It ended up being a great choice. The truffle really brings out the flavor of the rice in the noodles. Although, these noodles were already pretty special. I think they make them here. There was a good amount of chicken, and that ramen egg was absolutely delicious. A perfectly made custardy yolk. I should have ordered an additional one. My husband's Spicy Chicken Teriyaki with rice was good, but not great. His words, not mine. I didn't try it because I'm not a fan of teriyaki sauce. The chicken gyoza were also pretty good. I was also super happy with the Yuzu Ice Tea from the Mocktail menu. It was very mojito-esque without the rum. A refreshing drink. The service was good. The atmosphere is very lively. I didn't really get a chance to take pictures inside. The décor is lovely, but more enjoyable when it's less crowded. I'd revisit it again if ever in this region. I may have to try their Black Garlic Tonkotsu ramen next time.
