I've come here twice more and my latest experiences were nicer than the first. I saw the same man that I mentioned in my first review again and he seemed to be in a better mood or something because he came off as much friendlier, and their other waitstaff is also very polite. I tried their kimchi pancake and the Korea gimbap. The gimbap was just average but the kimchi pancake was fantastic. It was also huge! The price looked expensive on paper, but I understood when I saw it. I could only eat 3/4 of it myself as a meal and even then I was really full. But it was hard to stop! Nice and crunchy and very flavourful. I'll probably continue to come here on occasion when I want Korean because the location is convenient. read more

I don't know what I expected, but I was blown away here. The first waitress brought out a platter of so many things before our food... I don't know if this is customary or something she did to be kind, but whatever it was, it was so fun to try all of these samples that we didn't order. My chicken and rice was so so so amazing + my boyfriend was so happy with the Udon he ordered. It was quiet and peaceful inside the restaurant. My partner who is a very picky eater absolutely devoured the fried rice. They definitely did not skimp on the veggies which is great because it is vegetable fried rice after all! The kimchi stew was so flavorful and I'm glad because I got to take some home for dinner too. They provided some banchans too! The service was friendly and fast enough considering just one wait staff for multiple tables. The place looked like a house outside - it was clean inside. Banchan were likely premade, tteokboki were appropriately chewy with standard sauce, kimbap was tasty but ingredients seemed a bit on the stale side. Very disappointed. Beef Bulgogi was subpar. Not very sweet & a small portion for the price. The seafood pancake was undercoooked & salty. We sent back the Jjambong soup (seafood soup) because it was bland. We noticed the employee that was cooking the food was not Korean. At the 2 other Korean establishments we have visited in Bloomington this was not the case & the food was much better. Korea Restaurant is located next door to Burma Garden and across the street from B Town Gyros, with some limited street parking. Korea Restaurant looks like a house by the way. This restaurant also has outside (dog friendly) seating. My husband and I decided to drive over here 20 minutes before closing. We ended up making a to go order in person, getting: Korea Kimbab, $5.99 prior to tax- This came in 11 cut pieces. Inside the kimbab (besides rice) was imitation crab, cucumber, seasoned mushroom, egg pickled radish, pickled carrot and a hot dog. Pretty flavorful and tasty, I'd order this again. Chicken Bibimbap, $13.99 prior to tax- I love bibimbap and usually like to order this at any Korean restaurant. This bibimbap is topped with a fried egg (sunny side up). The amount this dish had was good enough for 2 meals. Love all the elements mixed together (rice, carrots, bean sprouts, radish, egg, chicken). Shrimp Bibimbap, $13.99 prior to tax- I am surprised that the shrimp is the same price as the chicken, but with a smaller amount than the amount of chicken I had. Just like mine, my husband's dish also had a fried egg and the portion size was good enough for 2. Complementary Banchan- I was honestly surprised and delighted to see that the lady who took our order also gave us some banchan, one of the most favorite things I look forward to when dining at a Korean restaurant. We had braised potato (one of my favorites), kimchi, strips of fish cake (another favorite), bean sprouts and what I think may have been sliced yellow radish with chili pepper. ---------------------- (Total= $37.77 after tax) To be honest, I was not expecting Korean food to be good here (sorry to those that live in in this area) but it was pretty good and comparable to Korean restaurants that I have dined at back home in Los Angeles. Price point was fair and service was friendly. When my husband and I came in, we were greeted by a woman by the register. I told her we wanted to make a to go order and she gave us menus right away. Holy cow was this place fantastic! We ordered a variety of dishes to share and try a bit of as much as we could stomach and had lots to take home afterwards. My absolute favorite was the seafood pancake which was STELLAR! I requested my japchae to be spicy but it was hella sweet. I'm hoping it was miscommunication, because otherwise I wouldn't want to try it sweet! The seafood roll was killer, but I can't for the life of me remember what it was called (kimbab I think?) This is one of my favorite restaurants to visit when I'm in Bloomington! The place has cute decor that can be seen all over including the entrance :) The staff is kind as well. I enjoy the food here too! I came here with my family recently and we ordered japchae, galbi, fried chicken, and spicy pork. They were all great! The place also provides banchan or side dishes at the beginning. I'm unsure if it's unlimited or not but I was pretty full with the food I had anyway to mind. This restaurant feels like a hole in the wall, mom and pop shop, but it can still fit a sizable group inside near the kitchen. There's outdoor seating if you want to enjoy the weather too. I was surprised to find the food tasting good and the waiter quick to serve, granted we happened to be the only large party at the restaurant that late at night. I had a great experience here. The restaurant is clean and the service is fast and friendly. I really enjoyed the free banchan, especially the cucumbers marinated in some kind of chili paste. Their kimchi was very good. Sour, and a little spicy but not too spicy. I ordered the soft tofu soup with kimchi. It came with a free side of rice as well. The soup came out boiling hot, which was great on a cold day. It had soft tofu, an egg, kimchi, and I think there was perhaps some kind of sliced seafood cake in it as well, but I'm not sure. I thoroughly enjoyed the soup, but I was only able to eat about half of it because the portion was so large. I had lunch here on a Sunday and when we arrived around 1PM only one table was filled which made me a little worried, but by 2PM all tables were filled and the place was hopping! Since this was my first visit here, I kept it basic and went with bibimbap with beef. It was quite good! The rice was crispy along the sides of the bowl, the beef was flavorful, the vegetables were fresh, and the egg was nicely cooked; the yolk was still nice and soft. The chili sauce provided in a squeeze bottle was excellent. The soup and sides/condiments that came with our lunches were tasty as well. I also enjoyed a mug of hot barley tea which wasn't on the menu, but when I asked about hot tea, this was the option available. I think they should officially add it to the menu. I appreciate how flexible they were as I wanted budae chigae (army stew) but it was clearly a huge portion to share because of the greater than $20 pricing. We ended up having to find someone ourselves to get our bill after not seeing our waiter for about 20-25 minutes after eating. I ordered the bibimbop and personally wasn't very impressed. I've ordered this dish at other Korean restaurants and usually it has a sauce on it. When it came, I was a bit disappointed to find it was just plain pork and plain vegetables without any sauce. The highlight was the fried egg, but it was also pretty bland. My mom ordered the teriyaki chicken and that was fantastic so definitely would recommend that! A homey little restaurant in Bloomington. The food may seem expensive at first but the portions are definitely worth the cost. Kimbap are large and plentiful. I ordered one for myself expected six or so and was greeted with about 11 large kimbap. Jjampong is filled with ingredients. Pieces of clams, mussels, cabbage, squid, small pieces of beef. And even some Asian mushroom! Its hard to describe but let's say you don't often see it used in dishes. The amount of noodles you get is also very good. They don't do the thing where they skimp on noodles and give you a ton of broth. Korea Restaurant also has a lot of authentic Korean dishes. Good enough for the normal customer. Nothing crazy unique, but enough to satisfy any desires. Your meal comes with banchan, Korean side dishes and there's a pretty good spread. It's free and comes with every dish in true Korean fashion, unlike some places I've been to. Kimchi is definitely on the older side though. It's a bit too sour for me. The restaurant doesn't look like a lot, but it is a great place to get a warm meal. The service is great, the food comes relatively quick. I've been there several times and the quality and quantity of their food has never disappointed. It's not going to knock your socks off, but it's a reliable, good, and homey place for good Korean food. read more
