Maybe it's because the older I get the more bougie I become, but KOPP's is far & away my fave place to get this decadent treat which absolutely provides no help in me maintaining my girlish figure. Flavors are fun & inventive! Some I need to apply my phonics training in order to pronounce. I even get my pitmix a plain burger and so he now begs for KOPPS as well. I enjoyed the story of all the CUSTARD KINGS/QUEENS helping one out when their store burnt down. Solidarity! read more

Delicious. I mean puts every other "custard" I have had to shame. This was a place that I was gonna visit on our trip to Wisconsin one way or the other but because it's not quite centrally located downtown, it would have to be a little bit of a finagling fortunately, it was basically right on the way to Madison so with a quick stop at around 11 AM we pulled over for some custard. GF didn't even want to get out of CAR. Can you believe it? If she had then I might've had some assistance and what kind of custard to get but I panicked and felt went out. You can't go wrong with the original so I just went with original vanilla but there was something else that intrigued me and now I will never know. Not to say the original vanilla wasn't absolutely fantastic and completely worth it. Creamy, not too sweet but just sweet enough. Very affordable and worth every fucking penny. I would put my face in it but I don't know how that would go for my skin. read more

We've gotten burgers at Kopp's so many times over the last 10 years, and they've always been so good and juicy and fresh-tasting....until the last three to four months. I picked up hamburgers with fried onions and ketchup for our dinner last night, but we were disappointed once again. The burgers were dry, thin, and burned around the edges. This is the third time in a row now; don't know if burgers are premade and thrown back on the grill to reheat, or has the quality of the meat been downgraded, or whatever, but very disappointing. We'll still go for custard, but frankly, will probably start going more often to the recently reopened, but further away, Oscar's in Waukesha as that custard is also excellent, plus there's a (double) drive-through. Sometimes it's such a bear to park at Kopp's..... read more

I couldn't love this place more. I've been coming here since I was a little kid, and every bite reminds me of my childhood. Their burgers are delicious. Shakes are wildly good. Service is always friendly and efficient. Yeah, you have to wait a bit sometimes, but the place is always packed for a reason. The whole Kopps vibe inside is like taking a step back in time to me. read more

Kopp's Frozen Custard - Oreo shake - Ice Cream & Frozen Yogurt Near Me - Brookfield, Wisconsin

We try to make a trip here at least once a year as a traditional family trip for the burgers, grilled cheese sandwiches and their custard desserts. The food is always prepared well and tastes delicious. Usually the service is pretty quick, even when it seems to be very busy. Occasionally the wait may be a little longer than usual. This particular location has a good amount of seating outdoors and limited table seating indoors. read more

Everyone knows this place has amazing food and custard. It's not even a secret. Great burgers, great custard and don't sleep on the onion rings. read more

This is by far my favorite Kopps location. Easy to navigate to, plus ample indoor seating makes this a stress free location to visit. Sure, they are close to my house, so that that doesn't hurt either. Great food. Better custard. When we are able to enjoy the lovely weather, they have plenty of outdoor seating also. read more

Love the frozen custard at Kopp's Frozen Custard! The char-broiled smell outside the restaurant was delicious, so we each ordered burgers since it was lunch time. I love that all the staff wear old-fashioned white uniforms...so 50s! Our burgers were massive, but I was missing a distinct char-broiled taste, like the smell outside the restaurant. My cookies and cream custard was to-die-for excellent!! In my opinion, it far exceeds any ice cream or frozen custard any where! read more

Kopp's has been one of my go-to frozen custard spots in Milwaukee for years. They stand out for their rotating "flavors of the day" -- two new ones daily, from fruit options like raspberry to rich choices like turtle sundae or chocolate chip. You can even check their website's flavor calendar to plan your visit. I've also enjoyed their food, especially the double burger and onion rings. Service is always friendly, parking is easy, and prices are fair -- about $6 for three scoops (compared to $7.25 at Gilles and $4.15 at Oscar's Frozen Custard). There are three locations, but Brookfield is my favorite since it has the largest indoor seating -- perfect for winter. Overall, great custard with variety, creamy texture, and a classic Milwaukee feel. read more

For those of you who have not experienced frozen custard, having settled for gelato or everyday ice cream, sorry for your loss, but happy that you have something great to look forward to, and when you do, get yourself to Kopp's in the Milwaukee area. Custard is rich and creamy and oh so satisfying. Kopp's adds to the experience by rotating flavors of the day, so you'll never be bored. Let me suggest you buy several pints of different flavors and create a multi-taste bowl. read more

My favorite sandwich and custard place EVERY IN EXISTANCE. The chicken caliente is so fire and it feels like your uncle made it. SO YUM. no notes on that. I have been ordering sandwiches here for the past 8 years. Never misses. The custard is so good. I love a classic vanilla. My favorite vanilla place every TBH. No one does it like them. I love the hats the workers wear. BUT seating lowkey runs out sometimes so you have to keep an eye out right. read more

Wow, what an amazing burger. As my husband put it, it's everything a quarter pounder should be. Simple yet delicious. Two other standouts were the onion rings and root beer float. Must haves in my opinion. We also had the frozen custard flavor of the day which was orange dreamsicle and another. Both very tasty. read more

A treat when visiting Milwaukee. This was first trip at this location. As expected great fast service, friendly staff and food was awesome. Always a special treat coming here. read more

There are a lot of custard places in the Milwaukee area, and I have to say that Kopps has the best! They typically have 2 specialty flavors of the day along with vanilla and chocolate, as well as a special shake and sundae each month too. Looking for food? They're also known for their jumbo burgers! I love their retro style vibe with the soda jerk hats and uniforms, as well as the decorations inside. read more

I've been coming to Kopp's for years, and while the burgers aren't quite the same as they used to be. I definitely noticed the change in the burger blend, they're still very tasty and worth stopping for. This visit I had a cheeseburger and onion rings. The onion rings were crispy, hot, and delicious. The burger had great flavor, although the lettuce was a little soggy and the tomatoes didn't seem as fresh as they could have been. The service was quick and efficient, especially considering how busy it was. The staff kept things moving well. Seating is limited during busy times, so we were lucky to find a table. Overall, Kopp's is still a solid spot for a burger and sides. The food is good, the service is fast, and despite a few small issues, I'd definitely come back. read more

What can I say? It's macadamia nut--my absolute favorite flavor and I'm completely obsessed with it. I haven't seen it around for a while, so when I found out Kopps had it, I didn't hesitate to make the hour-and-15-minute drive from Madison just to get some. Totally worth it. Fast service as usual! Numerous table to sit both indoors and outdoors. The creamy caramel custard combined with the crunch of macadamia nuts is perfection. Hands down, my favorite flavor of all time. You MUST try unless you are allergic to nuts! read more

I love this Kopp's location! I like the amount of seating- including that they offer multiple tables and benches outside, I prefer this bathroom over the one in Glendale because it's less sketchy, and it just seemed really organized inside with the line. Also better parking than the one in Glendale. I had the Swiss chocolate and it was delicious as always! My husband loves to order a sundae. Only minor complaint is they don't offer rainbow sprinkles! First time at a Kopps, I really like the burger. It's kinda like a larger mcdonalds burger and tastes a little better too. I really like the selection of ice cream was large + savory food was fun. I went back before my last day in Wisconsin and I would go again if I am ever back in WI. This location was pretty crowded but service is fast. Kopp's Frozen Custard - cheese burger + banana butterscotch milkshake - Ice Cream & Frozen Yogurt Near Me - Brookfield, Wisconsin

The burger here just doesn't hit the same as the Kopp's in Greenfield. I've been here more than 5 times and the patty is always dry, the greenfield location the way they cook the patty makes it melt like wagyu. Whoever makes the burger here is not doing justice to the brand, it's not good. Food came out quick not that long of a wait. Figure out how to create the same quality as the Greenfield location please read more

It looks chaotic but it's definitely a well organized system. Service was fast. 1st time here, burger smells and looks amazing, fries so hot no ketchup required and banana shake SUPER FRESH. I finally made it back to Kopp's after many years after craving a cheeseburger with the works. AWESOME! The burger is cooked to perfection and loaded with all sorts of fried onions, pickles, ketchup, mustard and probably other condiments as well to make a what I call "the big sloppy burger". The burger is served in side a bag that you better leave it in otherwise it would be hard to control. Add an order of onion rings and/or fries and you're good to go! read more

Stopped in with work buddies, as I have never been here, and don't have in my state. This place is cool, you walk in to a giant counter where you have designated areas to order and pickup, also an area that has custard too. I had the grilled chicken sandwich and it was big and very tasty! My work friends ordered burgers and those too were very big. Once you get your food when they call your number they have seating area behind the to the right of the large counter area. Definitely would come again as food was very good. read more

Food is always on point service is cool and the ambiance is old school classic but it may be time to update.

If you don't know about Kopp's, you're missing out! With all of the burger and custard options nearby, it can be hard to pick a favorite, unless you've had Kopp's. The burgers are made fresh and are HUGE! There's a few free topping options and then others available for a small charge. The custard steaks the show, however. They have two flavors of the day, each day, along with staples like vanilla and chocolate. They do offer free samples if you're undecided and I would recommend ordering one less scoop than you want since the portions are HUGE as well. A single is like a double elsewhere. They have outdoor seating which is great for in the warm months and limited seating for when it's nasty outside. read more

I stopped by to try the legendary frozen custard. I went for a Turtle. And I loved it. It was smooth and creamy. It had a ton of pecans, which was amazing. I should defenitely go back to try more. While there I also got a grilled chicken sandwich. It was a big sandwich, and the price was reasonable. Taste wise nothing to complain about. I should have gone for the burger instead. read more

When in Wisconsin......you have to get some frozen custard! Kppp's has been around since 1950, so they must be doing something right. We visited on a Monday afternoon and the place was very busy; but it was easy to order and quick to get your order. They do have burgers and fries and assorted food items, but we just had custard. They have rotating flavors, so you know it's made fresh. On the day we visited, they had vanilla, Swiss chocolate, mint chip, and Twix Tac Dough. I had a double scoop with Swiss chocolate and mint chip. My husband had mint chip and Twix Tac Dough. Both were creamy and delicious....highly recommend! read more

Love frozen custard and yelped while in the Milwaukee area and found Kopp's and so glad we did. It is always a good sign when a business is filled with customers which Kopp's was at 3 in the afternoon in February. Being from the burbs of Chicago, Greg's, Comet's and Andy's are the local joints to go to and Kopp's is far above them all. I would put Kopp's as the second best custard I've had behind Erma's in Michigan, but not far behind. Great custard is all about the texture, smooth, creamy and it has to not melt quickly. Kopp's absolutely delivers on all three. For custard places I always have to try their vanilla as well as a flavored. I tried the vanilla, Reese's peanut butter cups and amaretto cherry cheesecake. The vanilla had a nice vanilla flavor. Reese's had peanut butter cups dispersed thru out though not overpowering had a good peanut butter flavor but you still tasted the vanilla. Amaretto cherry cheesecake had a nice cherry flavor with bits of cheesecake, again the flavor was distinct but didn't overpower the vanilla. If you enjoy custard, you will be so happy you came. Parking lot is huge and service reminded me of Portillo's as there were plenty of employees and efficient ordering. Single scoop is plenty and their prices are great. read more

Some Milwaukee natives say this is the best burger. I would like to say, no. The cheeseburger I had was the "works" (ketchup, mustard, grilled onions and relish). I saw a few people order the same. I have to admit it tasted more like a patty melt. This burger is your classic diner burger. All oozing into one bite with melty cheese. As for their custard. Top notch. Super silky and smooth. But that is what they're known for first and foremost. Great customer service, quick and clean. No drive thru but that adds to the character read more

Love the food and the custard...but every time I want to order ahead in the app it is "not accepting orders"!!! Of course, by the time I get there "the rush" is over. Tonight I tried to order several times on their app., but could not... when I got here there were about 5-7 customers just waiting for food or custard. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. My wife placed an online order and it was for the wrong location. She immediately tried to call to cancel, but it took FOREVER to get through, over 15 minutes. Once she finally got someone on the phone, they told her they cannot refund and cancel the order, it was already made. Two issues: 1. There is NO SUPPORT online to cancel or manage orders. 2. They are NOT STAFFED APPROPRIATELY to be able to take calls timely to assist customers with online orders. I then called and got the manager and they proceeded to tell me "they cannot just throw away the food". I told them they ultimately will because we cannot make it out to that location and we could not get through because no one was picking up the phones. She just got snarky with me and I told her we will just stop payment at the bank. She didn't care and eventually hung up on me. There is NO exchange of products or goods and their stance is they are going to walk away with our money. There is NO support to manage online orders. This is pretty outrageous. No help for the consumer. NOT HAPPY. read more

An iconic spot in the Milwaukee area! The custard is so good! We got a small turtle sundae to split. The portion sizes are big. Lots of pecans on the sundae which is my favorite. We also got onion rings and fries. I was unimpressed by the fries, they reminded me of McDonald's fries, not much to them, but the onion rings were delicious! The indoor space is open and spacious and then they have a nice outdoor patio. The set up is brilliant. They have 2 counters, so 2 lines. One line is for ordering ice cream and the other is for food. You place your order and then it's called at the counter. This set up combined with an efficient staff made the lines move quickly. A fun place to stop. Don't forget to get custard and onion rings! read more

I decided to try this place after receiving recommendations from several locals while I was in town for work. After trying, I was disappointed to discover that this place is more focused on nostalgia and "old school charm" than it is on quality and service. The burger was overdone and served on a bun that was too large for the patty. Fries were ok, but nothing special. The custard was the most disappointing since that seems to be their flagship menu item. It tasted cheap and generic. By comparison this place fails to meet my high expectations that have been set by Culver's. The restaurant is dirty and noisy. For me, it was an all around unpleasant environment. While the design is unique, it does not seem practical or up to standards of modern eateries. Next time, I'll just go to Culver's and get a better burger with better custard and better service. read more

Got a recommendation to come here while I was in town, intended to just come for custard but ended up grabbing lunch too. You can tell that Kopp's is a Milwaukee staple as it was bustling on a Wednesday at lunchtime. All of the workers had retro style outfits on, which matched the vintage (but not old) look of the restaurant. What I got: Grilled chicken (with "the works" + lettuce and pickles), 1 scoop of Swiss chocolate frozen custard What I loved: the custard! It was velvety and sweet, I don't have a huge sweet tooth so one scoop was more than enough for me, but their signature sundaes looked good too What I liked: grilled chicken sandwich was good not great. It was doused in ketchup (you can't tell in the photo) which kinda overwhelmed everything else on the sandwich. The chicken itself was yummy, but I don't know if I'd order this again. Glad I stopped by Kopp's, but I think I'll try Leon's next time I'm in MKE! read more
