Stopped in for lunch today around 1:30 on a Monday. The indoor area was clean, dated and only one couple was seated at the time. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich that was on special and went with fried onions on the sandwich at the suggestion of the counter attendant. Also ordered a chocolate malt. The sandwich was disappointing, very stingy on the amount of pork, and very little seasoning made for a tasteless bite. Various condiments were available at the counter and helped to add some flavor. It came with a small serving of Cole slaw, creamy style and very typical taste wise. The chocolate malt was very good, could actually taste the malt unlike other custard places offering a malted drink. The bill came to $14.48 including taxes. Maybe their burgers are better but not sure I would revisit this establishment again. read more

I have been here in the past and truly enjoyed the burgers, but this time not so much. Discovered this place on a whim. Didn't realize it existed, but the giant electric sign did exactly what it was meant to do, it told me caramel cashew custard would soon be in my future. The place is eclectic inside, kind of a bright blue 80's vibe. They also have a sort of weird fountain in side that sort of makes you feel like you might have to pee (so don't sit too close.) Terrible experience. We live in the neighborhood and tried this place out today for the first time. We asked the drive thru person how many boneless wings come in the 1/3 order and they said 8-10. We received 4 of the tiniest nuggets I've ever seen. I went inside with the food we were given and showed the folks up front. They said that the 8-10 estimate was...an estimate. And that "I must have received bigger pieces" but then showed her how tiny they were. She said if I wanted more food then I'd have to order more. Absolutely ridiculous. This is some of the best frozen custard I've ever had! I ordered a concrete with heath candy and they loaded it with candy, so I definitely felt like I got my moneys worth. I tried their mozzarella sticks too which were good, but a bit bland. The atmosphere is very small-town sporty cute and the employees were very friendly. The friday fish fry is by far the best dealing the area. It is always fresh hot in very reasonably priced. It's National Hotdog day, so I decided to stop by Bubba's to grab a few. I ended up going through the drive thru even though my first instincts told me to just grab my food to-go inside. I should have listened to my gut. The drive thru took forever as a vehicle 2 or 3 ahead of me seemingly ordered one of everything. Or maybe they were counting out pennies to pay for their order... I really couldn't imagine why things were taking so long for that one person. Once they were gone, things moved quickly as you would expect for typical drive thru's. I returned to work with my bag of takeout from Bubba's and was excited to dig in! I had ordered a Chicago Style Dog and a Bubbadog. The Chicago Style is stated as having an all beef hot dog with the works (pickle spear, tomato, onions, mustard, celery salt, nuclear green relish & sport peppers) on a poppy seed bun. It was delicious. Mine was missing the sport peppers, but that wasn't a concern for me as I usually pull them off anyway because of the stems. The Bubbadog is an all beef dog topped with 2 strips of bacon, cheddar cheese sauce and fried onions. I really liked this one! The cheddar cheese sauce was super tasty and I couldn't get enough of their fried onions! Amazing! Overall my National Hotdog Day and first trip to Bubba's Frozen Custard was 100% enjoyable. The quantity and size of the items ordered (junior bubba burger and regular fries) was small in my opinion for the price charged. The flavor was good, and the wait for the call to come and pick up the food at the counter was not too awful. I had to make a special delivery to one of my customers who was short handed to get his customer satisfied around lunch time so I stopped here to get a couple burgers for me and boss. The place is just a different Culver's or Kopps doing the same thing, custard and fast food like all the other places around but trying to look hipper while doing it. There is an out door patio with a couple tables for the nice weather days. There is a wishing well as you walk in which was kind of strange but that's there stick I guess. We would try the Wisconsin cheesehead burger with bacon, Monterey Jack, white cheddar curds, American cheese and ranch dressing. The burger looked smashed down and I thought it would taller with cheese curds on it. The dining area and order area is separated with the condiment/soda room which was kind of weird also. The walls are colorful with mirrors and other trinkets. Lots of kids having custard while I was there and the whole custard set up is open so the kiddies can watch the treats getting prepared. And last but not least it looks like Barney threw up all over the place. The burger patty is 1/3 pound flat whopper style that is flame grilled and taste similar to the BK products. The patty it self was on the dry side like its pre cooked and the juices were like Elvis, he has left the building. Overall the whole burger was dry because it's meat, bun, cheese and very thin ranch dressing. Next time I would get lettuce, tomato and raw onion on any burger to moisten it up and it would have been more enjoyable. The bottom line is it's a somewhat tasty burger if your in the area shopping but it's not a destination burger place in any way and no ones favorite great place will be replaced by them. read more

I have made it my mission to find the best fried cheese curds in Wisconsin. I often work in Wisconsin, and my food missions are a better use of my spare time than sitting in a hotel room in the evening. My search is over: Bubba's white cheddar fried cheese curds win. The light, finely-crumbed breading doesn't overwhelm the cheese. And the cheese curds are much bigger than average, see photo. Many of the cheese curds I have tried at other restaurants are on the small side, hard, greasy or the breading is way too thick. I also enjoyed a really good grilled cheese sandwich with raw onion and pickles, and a creamy smooth scoop of custard. The service here was also very good. We often eat at this restaurant when we visit Pewaukee. This local small business is known for its delicious frozen custard and large flame-broiled burgers, but it also has a variety of sandwiches, sundaes, and malts. Our favorites are the Cheese Dog and the Cheeseburger (which pleasantly surprised me the first time I ordered because of its huge size--1/3 lb). Each day they have a custard flavor of the day and chocolate and vanilla custard. They even give you a calendar with the flavors so you can plan to visit when your favorite flavor is offered. I have been to Bubba's many times and the food is always good and service is not bad. On today's visit I was a bit disappointed as my grilled chicken sandwich was very dry. The bun and toppings were good. I also ordered chili and it was super thick like it was the bottom of the barrel. If you are in the Milwaukee Metro area and familiar with Kopp's I would rate it a star higher. However, if in Pewaukee and you don't want to drive 15 minutes from Pewaukee Bubba's definitely a place I would recommend. Just don't set your expectations too high and you will be happy! read more

Ordered a blue moon oreo concrete mixer- staff gave me what some might call a milk shake- however it wasn't even blended as a shake should be. What they handed me was already 30% melted. Don't go to the drive through when it's busy. You'd think a restaurant that's been running as long as this one would have a way of keeping your food warm. Food was lukewarm and handed to me right after paying. I'd been sitting in line for about 30 minutes so the food must've sat for at least 20. Get a hot lamp or cook it fresh. I recently returned to Bubba's for lunch and saw something on the menu that made me decide to be a little more adventurous than usual. A Bubbadog. The counter guy told me that it was the same as a Bubbaburger, only with a different meat and bun. It's a heart attack looking for a place to happen, which of course, is the attraction to it. It's a hot dog on a poppy seed hot dog bun. (There's a portrait of it in the photo section.) A Bubbadog is topped with fried onions, cheese sauce and two strips of bacon. Add the condiment of your choice - I ate it the way it came out of the kitchen. Luckily, the restaurant was loud enough to cover up the sound of my arteries slamming shut. Sadly, my work assignments are changing and I won't be getting back into Mr. Bubba's Neighborhood as often anymore. At least once every two weeks, though, I'll be close enough to justify visiting the place that most effectively gives my cholesterol meds something to do. read more

The owner does not require employees to wear masks to combat covid-19 to make customers feel safe whereas other restaurants and custard places in the area are. Of course you can get enough 16-20 year olds to work there and not wear a mask, but adults enough common sense should not. I will not be going back!
