French onion soup
Colleen H.

Although the atmosphere was nice, the prices and quality of food wasn't, in my opinion. Went with friends for dinner. I ordered a bowl of French onion soup. While the amount of cheese was plentiful I found the soup to be very salty so only ate about 1/2 of the bowl. My husband ordered the mushroom burger and onion stack. The burger itself was $18 and you had to pay extra for a side which we found kind of ridiculous. My friend got the prime rib sandwich and was not impressed. The waitress was nice and attentive. Won't be back.

Mushroom burger and onion straws

First time at this location. Huge selection is a plus, and nice selection of beers too.Service was fast in terms of how fast food came out. My biggest problem and why I don't recommend them,is there prices. My burger alone was almost $18 and even though there are a lot of side choices, they are all charged for extra on top of the burger,so it was like over $20 for a burger and onion straws. The burger was cooked correctly and had a good taste, but not for the kind of money they are asking .Your bill will be very high if you bring the family .If their prices weren't so high I would recommend them.

Prime rib bites

This is my first time trying Points Burger Bar. To say I was disappointed would be an understatement. I started with the ward's signature prime rib bites. It was $8.45 for 6 bites, meh. It was extremely dry, I understand trying to get the bacon crispy but it dried out the rib bites inside. I did like the horseradish sauce that came with though. Of course, I had to try a burger. I wanted to go with the Point Burger but with a lettuce wrap instead but the bartender said if I wanted to make any changes I would have to do a custom burger. Which if I did the same exact burger custom it actually comes out to be cheaper. What a rip off. I ended up making a custom burger - they pretty much charge for every ingredient possible Prime Angus: $8.95 Lettuce Roll Note: Lettuce roll = lettuce bed/nest Montamore Cheese: $1.45 Truffle Aioli: $.45 Note: They even charge for plain mayo, eye roll Jalapenos: $.95 Sauteed Onion: $.45 Tator Tots: $.45 They did not serve me a burger, they served me a slab of meat on top of pretty much shredded iceberg lettuce. I ate my "burger" with a fork. The burger itself was nothing special. Save yourself $ and skip Point Burger Bar. It's overpriced and you're better off getting a burger from Kopps.

Sweet potato fries

I have some exciting news to share. Point burger bar has been a go-to burger place for my in-laws for quite some time now. This was my first time at their Waukesha location, but they had another location on Good Hope which closed during Covid. We learned this weekend that they are re-imagining the good hope location as a smokehouse...stay tuned to learn why I am so excited about this. Although I didn't get one at my most recent visit, their burgers are pretty good and (most importantly) 100% customizable. Each patron is given a card with every type of bun, patty, condiment, topping, and side you can imagine. All you have to do is mark exactly how you want your burger made and the kitchen brings it to life. The sweet potato fries are crispy and SWEET, almost marshmallow-like in their sweetness. The cheese curds are solid, but then again it's pretty hard to go wrong with fried cheese. The real reason I'm so excited after my visit here? They had a special going in which they were "testing" (for lack of better word) the dishes they want to offer in their new good hope smokehouse restaurant and were offering these smoked pork ribs for less than $10 with the purchase of an appetizer. You guys? These ribs were amazing. Better than any burger I've gotten from here. And...don't tell my dad who smokes his own ribs and up until now held the crown...they were better than the homemade ones my dad makes. We quickly discovered why they were so good when the owner stopped by our table to get some feedback on the dish: turns out they hired tried-and-true Texas pit bosses to teach the proper techniques to get the best quality result. So not only were they delicious, but they were authentic as well and the care put into the smoking and flavoring of the ribs was clearly evident. I can't wait for the smokehouse to come to fruition! Until then, the owner let us know that they have several other dishes they would be bringing to Point Burger Bar for customer feedback, including brisket!

Ask the Community - Point Burger Bar

How much do the games in the arcade cost? Comparable to D&Bs?

It is very comparable. We bought a $10 card with a kids meal so we could see what the arcade was like. Got a handful of games in off of that. All the games are worth different amounts.

The store it self was unique because it's a liquor store but is has Bbq to go, pizzas, fresh rib eyes, cheeses, take and bake food, sandwiches, liquor, beer, wine, cigars etc. Unfortunately the Bbq is cooked in batches and sold out of the deli case cold that you have to reheat, not a big deal for me. I followed my rule that if you smell smoke when you walk in, I'm getting the full slab even though it's wrapped in foil and I couldn't see them. The full slab was very reasonable at $16.95 by the way. At first unwrapping I'm like dam nice bark and look how meaty the rack is, I hate that some places give you thin and bone racks so thank you for a nice rack. After heating up a third of the rack the bark came to life and was tasty, thick and sticky. The ribs were very meaty/tasty with that nice pink smoke ring but not very Smokey. The rib meat was moist and pulled clean off the bone. While there I bought a package of jalapeño meat sticks and a Czech beer from 1842, Pilsner Uequell imported it says. For a liquor store doing Bbq I'm giving them 4 stars because the ribs were good and they use meaty racks and at $16.95 for a full rack it's a good value. I would definitely get these take and bake Bbq ribs again and try other Bbq items from here.

Family owned and operated. If you aren't from the area than you don't realize what this liquor store offers. If you are from this area or the one in West Allis, then you probably are spoiled with what they have to offer! I rarely go in and not find what I am looking for (except at times beers and sometimes wines). That's not a knock... what place provides you with any wine you want? What sets Discount Liquor apart is the knowledge experts in wines. They were voted as 50 best wine stores in America... you have a question, ask and you shall receive. Price is good on most, cheaper than some but the variety is unsurpassed... maybe besides Total Wines. If you can't find something talk to an employee and they will help you with ordering it or find a close replacement. I have been looking for Rombauer Zin and they made a suggestion to go with Truett-Hurst Zin and we agreed, it is a close match. I love how they divide the store and categorize sections and again, you will find it difficult to find a better value and service.

Information on Skatterbrain is next to non-existent, but I can tell you that my "research" revealed all of their whiskeys share one thing in common (well maybe two if you include they're all fun flavors). That commonality is they all have an animal wearing sunglasses on the bottle. In the case of the Dark Chocolate banana Whiskey, it's appropriately a gorilla. Total Wine (where I purchased it) describes it as smooth Canadian whisky blended with the flavors of dark chocolate and banana with rich, fruity, and complex qualities. I question the reliability of that though as Skatterbrain spells it as "whiskey" on their bottle, which is typical of American and Irish Whiskey, but not Canadian "Whisky". I found the chocolate flavor to be stronger than the banana, but the two make an interesting combo. I wasn't bananas about it initially, but it grew on me, making it an acquired taste. I don't know how others drink this, but I found it worked nicely in my version of a "Dirty Monkey" (recipe below). Although I found this whiskey to my liking, I still prefer my go to banana rum for this type of drink. Doughboy approved Doughboy_Food_Reviews Doughboy Dirty Monkey: -30-50ml Dark Chocolate Banana Whiskey -5 oz milk of choice -1 tsp sugar free chocolate syrup -21g chocolate protein powder -1/4 diced large banana or 1/3 medium banana -1 tsp peanut butter -4 medium sized ice cubs -approximately 1/2 tsp xanthan gum to thicken -Blend well in a standard blender, pour and enjoy

We jokingly dramatized our grief for this occurrence and were overheard by a staff member. Enter Xavier. I quickly told him it was totally fine, and I would certainly live without it. He checked all the tanks and even agreed with me that the unsweet tea (the only full tank) was disgraceful and a sin. I carried on selecting one of their numerous other quality beverage options, and before I knew it Xavier had returned with a coupon for a free beverage. I was astounded and grateful to receive that albeit totally unnecessary. How kind was he! It was as if he took personal accountability for the mishap; what company integrity and behavior!
