My salad with the dead fly on it
    Mika P.

I ordered a steak and salad. When I got my salad it had a dead fly on it. I informed the server and she took it back. When the server came back she brought me the SAME salad except the dead fly was removed. I know this because I stood the onion up on the plate before she took it and when she brought it back to me the onion was standing up in the same exact spot. I asked the server if they enjoy having repeat customers and she said "yes very much" and I said "well I won't be one of them" and I stood up and left.

I've been visiting the Silvernail Inn for years now (even when it used to be called Canyon City!) and I've always had a pleasant experience. There is plenty of seating, so you really don't have to worry about waiting for a table. In fact, I don't think I've ever had to wait to be seated. The bar area is huge and you really have a great pick of booths and tables. If you decide to visit, you absolutely have to get the chicken dumpling soup. I get a cup of it every single time I stop by. It is absolutely packed full of dumplings and has a decent amount of chicken. It is seasoned well and the bread that accompanies it is always hot with a nice crust on the outside and a fluffy inside. As far as appetizers go, you really can't go wrong with the mozzarella sticks. When I tell you these things are cheesy - THEY ARE CHEESY. I'm talking major stringy and goopy and stretchy deliciousness. The marinara sauce that comes with is also top notch, but a second little container of it would be nice. For entrées, you probably won't be disappointed with whatever you choose. If you want a salad, the Rotisserie Chicken Salad has always been a favorite in my family. The Grilled Texas Cheese is a great sandwich and goes well with any of the soups. The Sirloin Steak is also always cooked well. Both the mashed potatoes and the fries are yummy - so you won't go wrong with either of those as a side. If they have carrot cake on the menu for dessert - ORDER IT. It is moist and flavorful and the frosting is so decadent. I'd highly recommend checking this place out. The service is great, the food is great, and I love the supper club ambience.

    King Cut Prime Rib

Was looking for a new place for dinner on a Friday night. After searching around the Milwaukee area I started checking the suburbs and came across The Silvernail Inn. in Waukesha. We arrived early to enjoy a few cocktails before dinner. They have a nice size bar, great for pre dinner cocktails or catching a sporting event on TV. The place was packed being prime time on a Friday night. We were able to get 2 seats at a small table in the bar area. Bartenders were professional and polite. Drinks were prepared well and reasonably priced. When it was time to dine, we were led to our table in one of two dining areas. The menu features steaks, fish, and sandwiches. They also serve prime rib but may only be on certain days of the week. We were greeted by our server Tammy. We told her it was our first time visiting the restaurant and she told us all about the menu and the fish fry options. She also pointed out the salad bar. Yes! SALAD BAR!! All meals included unlimited trips to the salad bar although I believe if you order a sandwich you are only allowed one trip. We chose the Souvlaki appetizer to start. It was a nice sized pita with delicious chunks of perfectly grilled pork garnished with onions, feta cheese, banana peppers, Pepperoncini's, Kalamata olives, and cherry peppers. We ate ever last bite. We then took a trip to the salad bar which would not be considered huge but had everything needed to build a great salad. They also had pickled items like beets, and different peppers to add to your salad. After our salads Tammy delivered our soups (clam chowder and chicken dumpling) both were piping hot and tasted great. For our entree's we both chose prime rib. A petite cut and a king cut. Ordered rare, both were cooked perfect and were well seasoned and amazingly tender. Au jus was served on the side. My wife asked for blue cheese on her petite cut. This was the only negative to the entire meal because a bit too much cheese was added for the size cut ordered. but the excess cheese was easily removed to her liking. We had garlic mashed potatoes and French fries for sides. Both were what you would expect. Service was great. Tammy kept us apprised of how our meal was progressing in the very busy dining room. The wait was reasonable for the amount of people being served. Dirty plates never sat for long on our table as every staff member who passed by helped clearing dirty dishes. We did not have room for dessert but there were several options. Pricing was right in line for the quality and quantity of food. We will certainly return in the future.

I'm not sure what to make of this place. Haven't gone until now due to its appearance of an abandoned building. Heard the prime rib was great, and it was, so had to give it a try. The exterior of this restaurant is really bad. Actually off putting. Interior seems dated but other than that, not offensive and clean. We all had prime rib or filet. It was cooked and seasoned to perfection with a lovely outside crust. The mushrooms had a perfect sear as well. Everything was delicious and our service was excellent!!! I did think the prices were quite high. This place also always seems empty, only a very few people at prime time on a Saturday night, and I assume it's due to it's shambles of an exterior and lack of any landscaping. I agree that with the high prices the tables could use some updating or at least some table cloths but I would return for the food and super friendly service.

Prime Rib Night! Nothing better than this. Saturday nights rock!

Great food and service! Always a winner! The Saturday night Prime Rib is better than any in the Milwaukee area. Ambiance is relaxed which makes it great for families and kids are entertained. A must visit!

The fish is good. Cole slaw is ok. The service was good. There was several times we had to wait a long time for water and clearing.

Don't let that throw you off--it's super easy to find and the parking lot is a huge plus (no circling like downtown). We stopped in for their Derby party and it was a blast. Fun games, great energy, and an overall lively atmosphere that made it feel like an event, not just a night out. Food-wise, we kept it classic: cheese curds and the lobster dip--both were really good. The curds hit that perfect crispy/cheesy balance, and the lobster dip felt a little elevated but still totally shareable and worth it. I'd definitely go back again, but next time I'd probably pick a less busy time so we can relax a bit more and try more of the menu. The atmosphere was great during the event, but it'd be nice to experience it on a more laid-back visit too.

The food is great... some of my favorites include the artichoke (warm) with homemade pita wedges, Mac n' Cheese, pizza (must try, ask for extra cheese), burgers are great and fish fry is a delicious treat! What I most appreciate about Rox Bar and Grille is the hospitality... I visited the bar about a week ago with a friend in the early afternoon and played slots. Somehow, as I was stacking my winning tickets I forgot to grab the actual payout ticket. When we came back for dinner a few days after, the bartender told us "we found a ticket , to redeem $60, what we did was scrolled back in our cameras and found that it was you this money belongs to. Okay, I was shocked .... And delighted for not only having $60 extra in my pocket, but of their customer service, high above ANY other bar I have been to in 55 years. Top ALL these wonderful aspects of this bar/restaurant, is the atmosphere itself... always clean, spacious, inviting with its sofa lounge area, the entertainment shows, and let's not forget, we live I WI, this bar has TVs everywhere, no matter where you sit, you'll never miss any moments of a Packer game! Kudos to the owner for having this establishment and super kudos to ALL the bartenders, as we walk in they know, exactly what I will ask for (lol) which is impressive as I go there once a week. All three of them ended up ordering plain cheeseburgers with fries for an up charge. With my fish fry I got potato pancakes. My wife also ordered garlic cheese bread for her and the kids to share. The garlic cheese bread was fine. The order consisted of two thick pieces of Texas toast with a lot of cheese. The small bite I tried didn't have much garlic flavor, but it was good. All three of them liked their burgers and the bite I tried led me to concur. The patties had noticeable amounts of both seasoning and char flavor, but not an overwhelming amount of either. They all said they'd get the burger again. The fries looked hand cut, but I'd be surprised if they do that in house. Like the burger, the fries had just the right amount of seasoning on them. The fish was great. The breading was very crispy and the pieces were decent size. The potato pancakes were more like hash brown patties that had some onion flavor and I liked that. Mugshotz is definitely bar first, grill second. There were only four tables outside the bar area and the bar area was packed and loud. I didn't see anyone waiting tables for the first 20 minutes I was there, but once we were waited on and they did an ok job checking in. Food took a little longer than expected given how few tables they had, but I assume the kitchen is just as small. The menu is outdated; both the cheeseburger and up charge for fries cost a $1 more than what's on the menu.
