We came to eat dinner here on a Thursday night as it was near our hotel. I must say it was better than expected. The service was AMAZING - Mary was our server and she was a 10+ server! They have a very nice simple and clean salad bar that is free with any entree. We ordered a 10 oz Ribeye steak with 1/4 rack of ribs and a 1/2 chicken with a 1/4 rack of ribs and both with roasted red potatoes. The steak was cooked to perfection and was larger than I expected! The chicken was also super delicious - very tender and perfectly cooked. The roasted red potatoes were also an A+... Also comes with a large loaf of homemade bread which was really good. We also had a total of 3 Old Fashions and 2 beers (Spotted Cow of course). Their Old Fashions are done perfectly! The total bill came to $130 which to me is an incredible bargain - 2 dinners (chicken, steak, ribs, potatoes, bread, 2 salad bars), 3 cocktails and 2 beers... plus amazing service - MARY ROCKS! We came here with 15 people on a Friday night and they were able to seat us without issue. The salad bar was classic and everyone liked their entrees, though nothing blew us away. It was hot as heck inside this place in August though - I don't think they have AC or maybe it wasn't working that day. This is not a Supper Club, it is an overpriced Ponderosa with a nice server. First impression, the location is tucked away in a business park, upon entering we were overwhelmed with a "fish smell" combined with a "dishwasher" smell from the bar - should have walked out. Ambiance was a typical bar in Wisconsin. The bar are is larger than the seating area, which is understated at best. The hostess placed us near a "serving table", which was unacceptable and asked to move to a better seating location. Menu is overpriced for a location off the beaten path - tucked away behind a Dennys. Salad bar is "one pass" which for the price of a prime rib $58 is overpriced. Salad bar was under portioned and not stocked very well. Server was very attentive and nice. Soup, which came with the meal was salty, which is indicative of poor quality. Prime rib arrived, king cut. Nicely prepared, over priced, good taste and temperature was correct. Vegetable's were soggy and not fresh looking. Overall, 1.5 food, 1 ambiance, 4 for service. Overall, won't be back - albeit nice waitress and very attentive. The last thing is the establishment transfers the AMEx charge to the customer, this is a cost of doing business. read more

I ordered a steak and salad. When I got my salad it had a dead fly on it. I informed the server and she took it back. When the server came back she brought me the SAME salad except the dead fly was removed. I know this because I stood the onion up on the plate before she took it and when she brought it back to me the onion was standing up in the same exact spot. I've been visiting the Silvernail Inn for years now (even when it used to be called Canyon City!) and I've always had a pleasant experience. There is plenty of seating, so you really don't have to worry about waiting for a table. In fact, I don't think I've ever had to wait to be seated. The bar area is huge and you really have a great pick of booths and tables. If you decide to visit, you absolutely have to get the chicken dumpling soup. I get a cup of it every single time I stop by. It is absolutely packed full of dumplings and has a decent amount of chicken. It is seasoned well and the bread that accompanies it is always hot with a nice crust on the outside and a fluffy inside. As far as appetizers go, you really can't go wrong with the mozzarella sticks. When I tell you these things are cheesy - THEY ARE CHEESY. I'm talking major stringy and goopy and stretchy deliciousness. The marinara sauce that comes with is also top notch, but a second little container of it would be nice. For entrées, you probably won't be disappointed with whatever you choose. If you want a salad, the Rotisserie Chicken Salad has always been a favorite in my family. The Grilled Texas Cheese is a great sandwich and goes well with any of the soups. The Sirloin Steak is also always cooked well. Both the mashed potatoes and the fries are yummy - so you won't go wrong with either of those as a side. If they have carrot cake on the menu for dessert - ORDER IT. Was looking for a new place for dinner on a Friday night. After searching around the Milwaukee area I started checking the suburbs and came across The Silvernail Inn. in Waukesha. We arrived early to enjoy a few cocktails before dinner. They have a nice size bar, great for pre dinner cocktails or catching a sporting event on TV. The place was packed being prime time on a Friday night. We were able to get 2 seats at a small table in the bar area. Bartenders were professional and polite. Drinks were prepared well and reasonably priced. When it was time to dine, we were led to our table in one of two dining areas. The menu features steaks, fish, and sandwiches. They also serve prime rib but may only be on certain days of the week. We were greeted by our server Tammy. We told her it was our first time visiting the restaurant and she told us all about the menu and the fish fry options. She also pointed out the salad bar. Yes! SALAD BAR!! All meals included unlimited trips to the salad bar although I believe if you order a sandwich you are only allowed one trip. We chose the Souvlaki appetizer to start. It was a nice sized pita with delicious chunks of perfectly grilled pork garnished with onions, feta cheese, banana peppers, Pepperoncini's, Kalamata olives, and cherry peppers. We ate ever last bite. We then took a trip to the salad bar which would not be considered huge but had everything needed to build a great salad. They also had pickled items like beets, and different peppers to add to your salad. After our salads Tammy delivered our soups (clam chowder and chicken dumpling) both were piping hot and tasted great. For our entree's we both chose prime rib. A petite cut and a king cut. Ordered rare, both were cooked perfect and were well seasoned and amazingly tender. Au jus was served on the side. My wife asked for blue cheese on her petite cut. This was the only negative to the entire meal because a bit too much cheese was added for the size cut ordered. but the excess cheese was easily removed to her liking. We had garlic mashed potatoes and French fries for sides. Both were what you would expect. Service was great. Tammy kept us apprised of how our meal was progressing in the very busy dining room. The wait was reasonable for the amount of people being served. Dirty plates never sat for long on our table as every staff member who passed by helped clearing dirty dishes. We did not have room for dessert but there were several options. Pricing was right in line for the quality and quantity of food. We will certainly return in the future. read more

I travel a lot for work and this has been one of the better food places I e been too in quite a while. I had the beef stroganoff and it was rich and easy to eat. The bread as well was freshly made and nice and fluffy. The waitress there was very nice and made sure that the food was prepared to my likening as well as being very friendly. Silvernail Inn, a combination supper club Greek diner, is located in Pewaukee, not near the lake, but down an obscure road close to the strip mall ugliness lining the freeway. It is in a unique location. All your favorites are on the menu, and then some. Because it's in Wisconsin, the Silvernail has a huge bar. I'm not sure what to make of this place. Haven't gone until now due to its appearance of an abandoned building. Heard the prime rib was great, and it was, so had to give it a try. The exterior of this restaurant is really bad. Actually off putting. Interior seems dated but other than that, not offensive and clean. We all had prime rib or filet. It was cooked and seasoned to perfection with a lovely outside crust. The mushrooms had a perfect sear as well. Everything was delicious and our service was excellent!!! I did think the prices were quite high. This place also always seems empty, only a very few people at prime time on a Saturday night, and I assume it's due to it's shambles of an exterior and lack of any landscaping. Well I sure am as confused as can be after trying this place out. So to preface - it was been on my radar to check out 'whatever was here' for a long time. I just knew this was a restaurant nearby and I wanted to see what it was...last I remembered it was Canyon City. So wife and I drove over into the horrible entrance via the back (poor business with no main street entrance. That's gotta be killing them as you enter almost 2 blocks away from where you see the building by 94. Would be nice if the city gave them a decent entrance). Alas onto the review. So you walk to the bar room, where you see large TVs (which I like) video trivia, and then Sinatra playing. I was expecting some more upbeat music to go with the visual scene. I like Sinatra, so it was OK. Surprised it appealed to the group of guys vaping at the bar, but it musta been ok with them. Off to the right and behind the bar you see the dining room. White napkins, but no table clothes. As you can see the inconsistencies of their desired image and the reality of the business will continue to be seen. We choose a high top table in the bar room. We started with a couple of appetizers, wine, and a sandwich. Appetizers are about $8-11 each. The going rate for apps these days. They were ok, but I probably wouldn't order them again. For dinner, since I wasn't expecting a "steakhouse/supper club/inn" I just choose a sandwich. I need to be in the mood to order a steak. My sandwich was pretty good. I would consider getting it again. You have the option of regular or waffle fries (once again, not something you see a 'steakhouse' offering different choices of french fries). Now to the term 'steakhouse'. You may be wondering why I call it that. Well it's because the menu and the prices. They have it centered on their menu and boxed in "Chargrilled Angus Steaks and Chops" with the prices to match. 6oz Filet 30 8oz Filet 38 12oz Filet 48!! For comparison, those are all about $5-8 more than Palmer's and the 12oz is even more than Mr B's! YIKES. You can get Mr B's 12oz Filet for $46 and Palmer's 12oz Filet for $40. Both of these places are established top of the top steakhouse with national acclaim and I feel before the Silvernail Inn can command those prices, they need to earn their stripes first. But for now, its hard to pay those prices with a dining room without table clothes and a bar room with buzztime trivia going. Now, for the service. BEST part. The reason I gave them a whole extra star to 3 stars. Cassie behind the bar was awesome and will be the reason we return. She was fun, friendly, and attentive. Cheers to her! What a gem we were lucky find tonight. Can't believe it took us this long. Nice looking place that has a large bar area and then more of an open table setting with comfortable booths. And then a more intimate area that is designer and has a nice gas fireplace and floor to ceiling stone hearth. So you can sit in three different environments depending on your mood. Bar is friendly and good place to watch a game. Staff is super friendly. Our server, Kaitlin, was efficient and friendly and the meal was perfectly spaced. Spinach and artichoke dip was best I have ever had. Fresh spinach. Tenders chunks or artichoke. Creamy. Great cheese. And it came with fresh, warm lighter than ciabatta bread brushed with garlic and oil. And then they brought a loaf of excellent hot bread. And they have regular and whipped butter. Perfect. Salads were quite good. Couple of the Team dodo not like the Caesar as it had little to anchovy flavor and that was replaced by a cucumber flavor. I found it different, lighter, and refreshing. Side salads were very good and the creamy peppercorn dressing, while not homemade, was still very good. Sides were excellent. Creamy garlic mashed with fragrant, smooth and perfectly seasoned. Loaded baked potato was put back in the broiler to melt the cheese into the bacon and green onion. Add the good butter and sour cream and that was a winner. Ribs and shrimp were both perfect. Al dente rib meat that still fell off the bone. Fried shrimp was crispy and not greasy and the breading was amazing - like a cross between basic and panko breading. Prime rib was large and tasty and served with au jus and horseradish. Spot on. Rack of lamb came out sliced, on a sizzling hot plate. Nicely seasoned and a large rack of spoon-tender lamb. Amazing. Again, super nice staff. And very clean establishment with good lighting. Fair prices for the quality of food. And a diverse menu. Scores well by any measure. Look forward to going back!!! read more

Silvernail Inn has become our favorite restaurant. My husband loves the prime rib that they serve on Fridays and Saturdays. Most dinners come with a nice hot, round loaf of bread and salad bar. My choices have been more varied. I'm not much of a fish eater, but I had the best fish fry (beer battered cod with potato pancakes) that I've had in a long, long time this week. Meals are generous; drinks good. I think what makes this place extra special is the great staff, especially including Elaine, Carrie and Amanda. On our last visit, we started talking to a family with three children who also remarked what a friendly/happy place this is. The restaurant also serves as a meeting place for all veterans on the last Wednesday of the month. read more

While the food here is typically very, very good there is definitely a customer service issue we've run into over the last six months. On two or three separate occasions over the last six months, one of our ordered entrées is completely forgotten from the order. All three orders have been delivered via doordash and because the bags are sealed, it cannot be the responsibility of the delivery person to check our order... That lies with the restaurant. How can you miss a complete entrée, especially when there are only three items in your order?? When it's just you and your spouse who order and are expecting to share a meal together, and one of the two entrées doesn't show, it's a massive disappointment. I chose Baked ,Husband had fries .. It was great service from Melissa she's extremely friendly and attentive. They offer 19 Ice Cream Drinks ..My favorite is always the Grasshopper but I ordered the Peanut Butter Cup Drink and it was delicious! We have also tried the Prime Rib in the past and it's definitely one of the best Prime Rib Dinners I've had! Tried it on Saturday with a party of 6. My wife and I arrived first and were greeted by a bartender who insulted me right off the bat. Then when the other 4 in the party arrived they waited about 10 minutes to place their drink orders even though it wasn't very busy yet. Mr. Rude Bartender couldn't keep the drink orders straight in his head, so he ran for a pencil and paper. my wife's cocktail could have been a mocktail because she couldn't detect the bourbon that was supposed to be in it. We were seated promptly at our reserved time, which was the best part of the experience. We then spent the next 2 hours at our table--mostly waiting--because the waitstaff was so dreadfully slow. The food was mostly unremarkable. I had walleye, which was a little smelly; nobody else at the table commented on the food, which they would if it were yummy. The salad bar seemed nice enough, but I made the mistake of choosing the house dressing, which tasted like vinegar with garbage mixed.
