My husband speaks fondly of getting a cheeseburger and shake from Hefner's when he was a teenager. He finally took me for an afternoon pickmeup. There wasn't a line for ordering, but there were a few people waiting for their orders to be filled. We ordered and joined the wait..and waited. Though there seem to be systems in place and several teenagers working behind the counter, food and shakes were taking a long time. We got our cheese curds first (too greasy, but still good), but waited and waited for our milkshake. After the place started filling up with folks waiting for their orders, we asked about our lost milkshake. They quickly handed it over - it had been made and was sitting unseen behind the counter instead of placed ON the takeout counter. The marshmallow malt tasted so strongly of marshmallow-yummy!, but I didn't receive the experience my husband remembers so fondly from when his high school friends worked there.

The cheeseburger with the works was very delicious. The "Norapolitan" custard was also very good. Service was good. The parking lot is larger than I thought, and I think that is an important detail. There are dining areas both inside and outside. The outside area has picnic tables with umbrellas, for shade. Overall, I'm glad that I stopped in here today. I drove past this place for years and never dropped in. I plan to come back and try a custard whiteout.

Came here because a couple people told me the burgers were as good as Kopp's, and it was a closer drive. They were wrong. Burgers, fries, onion rings, custard-all solid. But this is no substitution for Kopp's.

Cheeseburger - A partially eaten cheeseburger with lettuce, tomato, and beef patty is held in a person's hand. The burger is wrapped in white paper, and the background shows the interior of a vehicle, including a seat and part of a dashboard. The bun appears soft and slightly toasted, with visible fresh vegetables and a cooked beef patty inside.

When we arrived there was a bit of a wait so we put our name in and returned 30min later after receiving a text our table was ready. Our group of four was sat in the back section, which has new privacy booth-type walls up? At least new-to-me. Our server was attentive and we quickly ordered some beverages. I really loved their rhubarb paloma - nicely tart, and not too sweet! Makes me want to buy some rhubarb liqueur for at home to make summer cocktails with. For food, I shared the red pear and feta flatbread with a friend, which we also added chicken to. It was flavorful for sure. Loved the basil and honey. Wouldn't hesitate to return here, whether for date night, family night, or gals night out. Solid place

We got seated right away, and our server Blake was seriously a gem. They found a good one with her! Super attentive, super chatty with my Dad who loves to yap, and never had us sitting waiting for anything. The food and the drinks were just perfect. Perfect Old Fashioned, and an excellent (spicy) Bloody Mary. We got Calamari Fries as an appetizer, which was fresh and delicious. And the main entrees (Blackened Shrimp, and Creamy Poblano Pasta with chicken) were just excellent. No notes, completely melted in your mouth. We already want to go back. The building itself is wonderful, and we loved the details of the place (like the ceiling!) They had a huge outdoor seating area as well, so I'm sure that's amazing in the summer!

Our server was patient with us when we didn't know what we'd have with both drinks and meals. The team was quick to get our orders out and whisk away used plates/silverware. Would recommend if you're in the area. It was too cold for the patio to be opened yet but we will definitely come back for that in the summer. Great views.

For desert, the flourless chocolate cake. The Rib Sandwich and soup were good. (3.5 Stars). The Salad/Salmon were okay (3 stars), and the cake was awful. (Probably put in the microwave for two minutes and then brought to the table) It even looked ugly sitting there on the plate. My drink special was weak. All the customers seemed to be having a good time. The place was lively and it's probably worth a visit for the service and ambiance. However this is not a place to go for good/tasty food based on our experience.

There's street parking all around the block where it's situated and a city lot. As you enter, you hit a reception podium and they offer seating in the bar area as well as in a dining section. This is a large open space with high and low top seating. We chose to eat near the bar at a high top table. Behind the bar is an impressive bottle selection. Sadly you can only see the liquor list via a QR code, which is slightly inconvenient and annoying, as my cell reception was not great in the building and the list loads sloooooowly. They explained that they would have to be constantly updating a printed list, which I understand, but then A) post a WIFI password/link on every table with the QR code and/or B) get a tablet or two that you can give tables so they can just see the electronic list in a bigger, faster format. We both had features cocktails from their menu. My Manhattan was very good. My mom enjoyed the bourbon smash more after she squeezed her lemon into it, as it was on the sweet side. Mom enjoyed her avocado steak salad and said it was quite good. I'm a little irked to see a $0.50 add-on for an extra side of dressing. That seems cheap in this day and age. I ordered an Impossible burger, with the toppings of their garlic mushroom Swiss burger. I'm not sure why everyone's version of a veggie burger is always the one with the most basic toppings on the menu. We might not eat beef, but vegetarians still like flavor. While the toppings were good, the burger itself was undercooked and only vaguely warm. I was offered a choice of 4 different fries - I chose sweet potato fries. Again, I'm irritated after the fact to see there was a $2 upcharge. They weren't that great and sweet potatoes are not that much more expensive that potatoes. So, yes, my lunch was disappointing across the board. Service was by the bartender, Brad, and a crew of others kept checking to see if we needed more drinks or anything. They definitely did well in the service arena. Of course, a manager or someone noted when I took the photo of the bar area and said she hoped I was leaving them a great review, so they might have paid extra attention. Too bad it wasn't to my food. We chose to come back and try some bourbons after our day's adventures. We sat directly at the bar, where there had been a staff shift. This bartender seemed pretty unknowledgeable about the selections on offer and even how to make the drinks. Ours were good, but under chilled. I'm not sure she understood what having a drink "up" meant. Which, you know, is weird at a cocktail bar. Again, the list was slow to load. I think we'll go back and we'll try other items. They have a couple veggie friendly menu items. We're impressed by their bourbon and whisky selection. They just need to up their game in a few areas.

I got the beer battered haddock with potato pancakes and both my wife and kids all got plain cheeseburgers with fries. We also shared mozzarella sticks and cheese curds. The mozzarella sticks are generic and taste like the kind you can get from Arby's or Walmart's hot deli bar. The cheese curds were also generic, but good. Both are cheap price wise compared to other restaurants, but you subsequently don't get a ton of curds given the low price. Six mozzarella sticks wasn't unreasonable. The cheeseburger was ok. It didn't have much, if any, seasoning, but at least had some char flavor. The fries weren't very crispy and were both bland and unsalted. The beer battered haddock (which I sadly forgot to take a picture of) only had two pieces for $15 and was some of the most disappointing fish I've had. I didn't care for the flavor of the breading and it was overcooked, so the breading was slightly burned and the fish was dry. The potato pancakes consisted of five or six small hashbrown circles. Though small, they were good. They were quite busy inside while we were there, so it took about 45 minutes to get our appetizers and an hour to get our entrees. The patio area is nice and offers shade in the evening. It was a cool night temperature wise, so a pleasant experience during our long wait.
