Meaty pork strips coated with thin batter, each piece is wrapped in a glossy sauce and sprinkled with white sesame. Perfect dish to go with rice. Double Cooked Pork Slices: Classic Sichuan-style dish. The pork belly is first boiled, then stir-fried again with chili bean paste and green bell pepper. Very flavorful and savoury, another great dish to go with rice. Soy Sauce Fried Rice: One of my fav childhood dishes, and they delivered very well. It's such a huge portion that we could only finish it in two days. Service was great, considerate and friendly. They even pour water for you before you sit down and pack up the leftovers for you after you finish. You might have to wait if you don't have a reservation, but the turnaround is pretty fast. Wait list is old school...someone writes your name and number in a notebook and you are called when your table is ready. The interior is reminiscent of the old school taverns you see in those old Chinese movies where the traveller has spent days walking or on a horse and comes upon a tavern where the interior is all wooden tables and benches. Dining style and dishes are all family style. You order a couple of dishes and then add rice. Spice level can be adjusted and even at 'less' the heat level was high. Definitely generous use of Szechwan peppercorns! Food is very flavourful and depending on preference some might find the oil level high. The clientele is mainly Mandarin speaking and if you are Asian they will immediately communicate in Mandarin with you but I did see the staff switch to English where needed. Service was patient and attentive.

All the Szechuan favorites are represented in the menu, including a few others that are rather more rare - but be assured the tongue numbing sichuan pepper is well represented and plenty. We got my favorite fried chicken with dried peppers. Plenty of dried peppers ensured every bite came with punch. Sliced beef and tripe - the heat on this one was toned down, so all about flavor with generous herbs and peanuts. The tripe was cooked very well. A sign of a good cook is treating offal very well and ensuring proper cleaning prior to cooking and it was adhered to perfection. My favorite of the lot. Boiled sliced tilapia with sichuan peppers - served in the dish it was boiled in, the fish was fresh. The fish is cut more rustic, so be aware of bones as you're making your way through it. Also thought this was the spiciest of the lot, with the heady sichuan seeds omnipresent in every bite. The food came to the table at a steady pace, the service was excellent overall.

*Uber Delivery Review*…read more My first time but not the last time! I love spicy food, the more spicy the better. Red & Hot is my kind of restaurant. The 2 dishes we ordered were perfect as delivery items as they best served room temperature. The items were well packed. Extra care was taken to ensure leakage. It could have been such a mess if all the Chilli oil spilled during delivery. I love both the chicken and beef dish. They both spicy but I can still tasted the different layer of flavour. What leftovers 2 days later were just as good. Good value for your money for authentic Szechuanese food. I will try dine in next time!

The dumplings are always solid including the steamed and pan fry options. The hot and sour soup is also good. As well as the green onion pancake, cold noodle with sesame sauce, stir fry noodle, and garlic pork. Not a huge fan of the beef braised noodle - the soup wasn't good and bland. And the wonton seaweed soup also didn't have a lot of flavours to it. I came with a group of 7 people and came to around $25 per person after tips and tax. We all left very full and had a small box of take out with us.

This is not a new restaurant; it has been there for decades. How did I know this restaurant? By social media! The son of the founder sneakily filmed himself learning how to manage and run the restaurant for 100 days, in order to take over the restaurant from his father, so that his father can retire with peace of mind. Now, let's talk about the food. I am a total dumpling lover. Back in grad school, I literally ate dumplings for lunch every single day for three months, so I'd say I'm qualified to judge! I'm giving theirs a solid 9/10. The only reason it's not a 10 is that I'm saving that last point for their vegetable dumplings next time--it is extremely challenging to make veggie dumplings, in my humble opinion The atmosphere was lovely. It's not spacious, but they also didn't put too many seats in, either. The service was very friendly. I think it can be a perfect place to have a dinner gathering for family and friends

Watching them make the dumplings and the noodles while we eat is just fun and interesting. My favorite is the steamed Xiao Long Bao (XLB) - I usually order 2 of those orders just for me. We were excited for the Shanghai centric dishes on the menu, yet all of the flavors were off for us. Mini soup dumplings tasted quite bland in terms of both the filling & the accompanying vinegar. Their Shanghai salted pork soup required us to add salt. By contrast the Lion's Head meatballs with Napa cabbage was overly salty giving inconsistent flavours. It didn't help that we waited 25 minutes for dishes to arrive mostly lukewarm including the dumplings out of the steaming station. Even the soy milk and soy-stewed pork rice took forever. This after waiting a while for a table during the dinner rush that had our hopes up for a good meal. The menu offerings were all on the pricier side including $12.95 for 6 dumplings and $11.49 for XLBs. Skip it or hit it? It's a skip for us next time! The only positive was the service, which was at least polite despite being inattentive.

Kung Fu Hot Spicy Boiled Beef - It's like a sliced beef stew with chickpeas and pickled Chinese cabbage, added some numbness and sourness to the dish, very tasty. Geleshan-Style Spicy Chicken - The chicken portion was quite generous, unlike other places where they have 80% dried chili peppers and only 20% chicken. Spicy Duck Blood And Tofu - It's an upgraded version of Mapo Tofu; it added duck blood as well which I love. Goes perfectly with the rice. Soy Sauce Meat and Vegetable Fried Rice - Amazing. The rice itself had a sweet kick, with a lot of seafood and veg in it. Highly recommend if you like soy sauce fried rice like me. Trio Of Stir-Fried Vegetables - Very authentic veggie dish. And true to its name, this Chinese restaurant is all about that. Whether it be spicy hot or piping hot dishes. We visited a third time for an abundance of spicy food. The signature dish that jumped out at us was the $11.95 Chongqing Spicy Deep Fried Chicken. The dish came fast and furious out of the kitchen. This chicken was crisp & tender with decent seasoning under a mountain of dried chilli peppers, and had sugar to balance. It was still on the salty side as northern cuisine is heavy & bold. This time we tried the $13.99 Szechuan Sliced Fish with Pickled Vegetables, in a huge cauldron of heated broth. We should have ordered with the fresh fish instead of the sliced basa. $8.95 Pork Slices in Spicy Sauce was a classic which we didn't pass on. And surprisingly, a large bowl of $9.99 Minced Meat Thick Soup was a crowd pleaser to balance out the heat. All in all, this is a good Chinese restaurant to visit when looking for spicy comfort food with an extra dash of salt. The menu remains very affordable so your tum's guaranteed to leave here feeling full if nothing else. Hot taste fitting for our frigid winter stretch yet again!

The taste is authentic, the portion is good enough for two people I'd say. The service was great as the two waiters were attentive and taking care of all the customers very carefully. The best part other than the taste - the price! I ordered one Gongbao chicken, two rice and still it was just $16! And when I left the tip, they brought the change that I refused to take. They don't even expect tips! Note - they told me they take cash only. I had to go to the atm to get the cash. So, better be mindful and ask on phone in advance if they are accepting cards or not. No music, but still very peaceful. There's ample parking available outside. I will pay a visit again, and again, and again!
