The view is nice although part of it is next doors contruction. Food is pricey, went and ate the lunch special, most were good, skip the udon if they have it. The veal hanger and miso salmon were delicious, beef carpaccio was excellent, be warned the beef is full on rare, as some places like to served partially seared or cooked.... This place is a "has been" with terrible service and old peeling furniture. Chairs look old and beaten up, mixed touristy crowd very casually dressed. Also, the worst experience I've ever had at a restaurant. First of all, the reservation is a scam. Everyone still has to wait 40mins to an hour at the bar to get a table on the rooftop. After waiting for one hour, we we're taken to our table. When we were seated, the table next to ours left, and since they had a better view, we asked if we could move over. The manager said in a rude manner that no, that it was reserved. I argued that we had a reservation for a nice view and still had to wait all this time, so how was that different. He replied we had ONLY waited 40minutes (which we didn't - if you think thats acceptable as an argument, at least be sure you're right) and that table was for people who waited longer (again inaccurate, there was no one at the bar that had arrived before us when we were seated). After waiting for another 15minutes for a server to acknowledge we were there, we realized we didn't have much time left for dinner ( I had to return home to my baby) so I explained that to the waiter and informed him we'd only be getting drinks and dessert (we had already had appetizers and drinks at bar). The waiter then told us that we're not allowed to sit there if we're not getting a main dish. So after waiting for almost 1h and a half for an ok table we were kicked out for not having time to order a main dish. The issue is clearly not money, since our cocktails were the price of a main entree. It's just horrible costumer service and lack of logic. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME, especially in a place like Paris with endless amazing options. I'm livid I spent my only date night with my husband and this dump and left hungry. read more

Great Ambiance! Went there for dinner on my birthday while visiting Paris. It was pretty late. We had no reservations. Wait time was about 15 minutes or so to get seated. Was able to connect to wifi while you wait, check a few emails etc...so I wasn't complaining and drink at the bar while you waited was an option as well. The music was really good. Loved the vibe. Soon as you walk up the stairs to the main dinning room...it's just really beautiful. The architecture, lighting, the view, the decor, I loved it! Overall, the ambiance was phenomenal! This was on my to-do-list, had always wanted to experience it because...helloo it was in Sex in the City which I was obsessed with, I just had to go check it out for myself. Depending on where you sit and how crowded it is...seating could feel kinda tight but I've seen worse. My issue was with the service/my waitress. She took forever to get to us and take our order. I enjoyed the music playing while we waited and was enjoying the moment because after all...You're in Paris! Right! The wait for the food was not long but once it arrived, we were disappointed. Small portion of course and after tasting it, well, it just was not what I was hoping for. We ordered the Roasted chicken w/lemongrass & ginger, lemon sauce with mashed potatoes. That was 32 euros a plate ant it was a really small portion but was an experience and something I got to check off my list. Next time I'm in Paris, I'd definitely go back but for brunch, the views during the day and the light that comes in the entire glass dome looks amazing in pictures. What an utter disappointment. I decided to return to Kong because I wanted my husband to have a great experience and meal during our visit to Paris. I made a reservation asking for a nice table as we were celebrating our wedding anniversary. It started off nice with the hostess warmly greeting us, congratulating us on our wedding anniversary and telling us our waitress would have a nice table waiting for us. We came in early at 8:30pm and the restaurant was already halfway filled but nothing crazy. Our waitress sat us at s tiny table barely with enough elbow room but thankfully the couple next to us were ending there meal and we were able to move to their table which was far more accommodating. We ordered our drinks and it started off well but quickly took a nosedive. We waited about 20 -25 minutes long after our drinks were gone before we saw our waitress again. We put our order in for an appetizer, 2 entrees and another drink order. My husband had a glass of wine and I ordered one of the speciality cocktails, a couple next to us also put in their order. We waited another 20 minutes before the appetizer came still no drink. I asked about it and waitress smiled and said she'd get my drink. Meanwhile the couple next to us had already received their drinks and appetizers and ordered another round. Another 25 minutes still no drink no entrees no water no bread nothing. She brings the couple next to us their drinks and dinner and my husband tells her we still have no drinks entree. She laughs as if that will make it better and says she'll get my drink and order. We wait. By now I'm over the drink, the meal and experience. A total of over 45 minutes goes by and we finally get our entree (scallops and truffle udon noodles) both which are cold luke warm at best (they are suppose to be hot dishes) and still no drinks. My husband flags down our waitress who still hasn't even checked in on us and he asks her for my drink order. She says oh it's not here?ok I'll check. She had told us this 3 times earlier so by now we no longer want champagne or dessert and just want to finish our cold meal and the check. Meanwhile the couple next to us had finished their meal drinks paid and left. I finally get my drink and she doesn't bother to ask if we need anything like water or how the meal is or even apologize for waiting over an hour just for my cocktail. My husband doesn't even want to finish his 5 scallop entrees bc he tells me it's cold and this experience has ruined his appetite I agree and he flags down our waitress as she doesn't even come by for the check. She comes over acts shocked that we want to leave and says she'll bring the check. We wait. She comes over with what looks like a shot glass size of whipped cream with a candle on it to say she's sorry and happy anniversary. What!?! Are you kidding? To add insult to injury after ignoring us all night, giving us cold entrees and waiting over an 1hr for a cocktail you think a shot glass of whip cream with a candle make up for your incompetent service? No. Kong relies too much on its ambiance and trendiness to make up for poor service and at best ok food. I was hoping for a nice anniversary dinner instead it was a total disappointment. Do not come here for dinner total waste on service, menu and overall vibe. Maybe the bar for just drinks is ok as long as you get your own drinks and pay $18 euros per cocktail maybe with enough drinks you'll forget you're at Kong. Not worth price of admission. 3 drinks 1 appetizer 2 cold entrees for $163 euro and piss poor service ? No thanks! Never again read more

Went here on a date night! The inside of the restaurant is lovely because of the domed glass ceilings but I must say, the food doesn't quite live up to the hype or really to other comparable Japanese restaurants in Paris. There are a couple of entrées I would maybe come back to try but the plats are pretty boring and the taste follows. Would recommend only for the views. read more

Was here about 2 weeks ago with my girlfriend, a Parisian. We both loved it. There is A LOT of great food options in Paris but I HIGHLY recommend Kong. It is not a tourist restaurant by any means, but the hostess and wait staff seem to know a few words (not sentences) in English. The menu is really great Asian Fusion with a French touch. The edamame, as simple a dish as it is, was amazing...had the Filet of Veal and it was superb as well. Just a great choice if you are into a trendy, classy, loud scene with an amazing view. Price wise, I thought it was solid compared to Manhattan and other Parisian spots of this caliber...around 120 Euros for app, 2 entrees and a bunch of glasses of wine (should of just got a bottle in hindsight). OH and definitely make a reservation at least 4 days in advance, make sure you ask for a table on the top floor and dress trendy/nice this is Paris hot spot and there are a lot of beautiful people dining, although staff had no attitude. read more

One of my favorite restaurants in Paris ! It's a trendy and fashionable restaurant/bar that draws an equally cool crowd. We went here during fashion week and were seated within an hour. Don't come here wearing sneakers, as you will be turned away at the door. The venue and interior itself was amazing, the whole restaurant is designed by Philippe Starck, so it's pretty unique. You have an amazing view paired with amazing food and ambience. I had the caramelized chicken and coconut sorbet, which was unbelievably good! The service could be better and the staff could be friendlier, but that's the only downside I can pinpoint. Kong Paris, until next time! Cause I will be back! read more

Approaching the hour mark, we said we wanted to cancel our food order due to the wait and we had an engagement following lunch. The manager came out saying that the food was almost done and was then promptly brought out. Our waiter did not serve us the rest of the meal, but was obviously perturbed. I came here upon someone's recommendation and I was told that Kong is very "cool" and "trendy". Well, trendy is right. I only found out post-dinner that this place appeared on SATC. Jeez, if I had known that I definitely wouldn't have come here. Anyway, the people here are incredibly well-dressed, so please don't come here in a canvas backpack and flat shoes like I did. Trying to get a drink at the bar on a Friday night is near impossible: you stand there for about fifteen minutes, getting ignored, and when you do try to catch the bartender's attention, she curtly tells you to wait some more. I eventually went to the upstairs dining area for dinner. It is covered by a glass domed roof, so you get a view of the city. I ordered a duck liver dish, which was rather well-cooked. It also came with a pot of butter-soaked mashed potato and some sliced plums on the plate. My friend and I came here on a lazy Sunday after a long night partying. The restaurant is on the top floor of a building that is overlooking the Seine. The entire place has a panoramic view because of the glass shell that encloses the place. The first thing that stands out about the place is the interior décor. The furniture is very contemporary with Philippe Starckish clear plastic chairs, but the odd thing was that they had pictures of women's faces on them. Really weird. My friend and I ordered a very light brunch since we were pretty tired. We shared an order of scrambled eggs and a toasted baguette with some butter and jam. The service was good and I would come back here again on a beautiful day to enjoy the view and the natural light. read more

The service was not high class & quite slow. The restaurant was not very busy at all as we came when it first open at 1pm. I don't know what it is whether those with ugly clothes in a trendy bar or those who wanted the Sex and the City experience (of which I had no idea until i read other reviews) and were disappointed, but for us, my husband and me, it was wonderful. The ambiance is hip and once upon a time super trendy (it was deigned/built in 2003) and the service was impeccable. Very courteous and high-end, the server to the bartender to the cocktail waitress to the food runners were all professional and dressed in either all black or short dresses. Cute. Food...we had the duo of foie gras, burratta and tomato of the season (large portion!), chateau filet + pomme frites, black cod with miso. My husband went a bit more adventurous than I, as I am pregnant and was extremely tired...but the food was delicious. My buratta came out I was so surprised that it was the size of a softball! The balsamic it came with was slightly reduced because its consistency was a bit thicker and sweeter in taste. That with olive oil and the pre-skinned tomato topped with basil was such a appetite tickler. It made me excited for the remaining meal. I looked over at my husband's plate and he was practically licking the plate. Foie gras is no longer legal in California, so this was a treat for him. Our main dishes came (all fired in such a timely manner because we never waited too long for the food; had ample time to converse about what we'd just eaten and possibly what we'll do the next day and then boom....entrees arrived) and I have to say that as I ordered the boring dish there wasn't anything special about the filet; as a matter of fact, it wasn't even the most tender filet I've eaten. But the portion size was perfect, it looked roughly about 6oz definitely less than 8...which for me was perfect since I had that BIG appetizer. I ate maybe 3 pieces of the pomme frites (which in France are large wedge fries) and then I was so full. My husband's black cod cooked in miso was SO flaky and delicious. Probably the much healthier option: it was served with steamed vegetables and a seaweed salad. We were too tired for dessert but all around us everyone had dessert. Our dessert was to crash in bed because we'd walked around everywhere all day! All four of our thumbs up for a STARCK design (love the glass dome and view) very Harajuku girls and Gwen Stefani circa 2010 but even right at the entrance of the building the light fixtures and for the service and the food! go check it out! read more

I give the food 4 stars and service 5 stars. I had made a reservation six weeks in advance and writing via email and received a written confirmation of this reservation. We were running late for an 8 PM reservation so we called ahead and the hostess assured us everything was OK. We arrive around 815 and we're told "your reservation has been canceled we tried calling you all day and not reach anyone" . Mind you 15 minutes earlier we have been told on the phone everything was fine and I checked my phone and of course no one at all had called me. Aaah, Paris; you seduced me yet again. Stark's fingerprints are evident from the entrance, to the lobby, up the elevator, to the glass-domed restaurant, and on the plate. Some of the best Asian fusion i've had, all around. However, two strikes: a serious restaurant does not play music too loud--the attention is on whats on your plate and whose at your table. Also, although tremendous, the desserts are not made in-house but rather bought and resold on the menu (or at least, my chocolate dessert was from the legendary Pierre Herme' which is not too shabby). Super chic and so Paris! I really enjoyed Kong and of course it was a must because of Ms. Carrie Bradshaw and the girls! It's tough to get seating upstairs so the ladies and I sat downstairs near the bar. Despite that, we had a fabulous time! The food is amazing and somewhat pricey. Order the canard avec riz (duck with rice). Didn't get to try anything else so I can only speak for that. Very French music was bumping loudly, can you expect anything else in Paris? It is quite difficult to find since it's on the third level and the building doesn't indicate that it's inside. read more

We were sent to Kong with fairly high expectations. Sadly, as we ended the evening, reality plunged into the sub-basement. Kong is a high-style Asian/Western fusion restaurant that seems intent on letting you know how lucky you are to be allowed in. If only that were the case. I spend about 150 days on the road each year and have dined in some of the world's best restaurants. I've also had many a great meal in dives. The good and experience are what matters. Kong failed on both counts and some more. My wife was served an incredibly bad duck. The response of the waitress was poor, but the director took things to an all-time record level by not just challenging our opinion about the duck but telling Jenn, quote, "I don't care." I guess the only thing that could have made things worse would have been to have the two bouncers throw us out. Bottom line, avoid Kong at all costs unless you are totally into flash, enjoy being abused and overcharged and have a totally numb palette. They should be ashamed! read more

This is actually my second time at Kong. Last time was 6 years ago and the service wasn't great. I was hoping after 6 years their service will improved but it got worse. Staffs attitude were horrible and food tasted very standard. I don't mind paying overprice stuff when it's good quality with excellent service. There were a lot of small flying bugs when we were dining in the restaurant. Staff were rude and careless. It's such a shame as it has such a beautiful decor. I felt embarrassed taking my friends here. I really wish they can get a new manager and replace all the horrible untrained staffs. read more

The Sex & The City's restaurant when Carry meets Alexander's ex-wife :):) YES! I loved the place, very design, fusion asian from the decor, to the music, ambiance to the food. Great view as well since the restaurant is located on the 5th floor. I had one of the special entrees of the day, veal with mashed potatoes. It was delicious and the mashed potatoes were creamy and buttery, a real treat! The veal was perfectly cooked and tender. My friend got another special of the day: bavette d'aloyeau with white rice. Both of us completely cleared our plates. Knowing the restaurant features Pierre Hermé's desserts, we had to indulge and shared the famous 2000 mille feuilles and the Tout chocolat (chocolate ganache, chocolate mousse and chocolate crust). The mille feuille was hazelnut and praliné was by far my favorite. It was big, enough to share, and delicious. The tout chocolat was good but a big too heavy. I am glad I got to experience this place. The prices are high but quality, design and experience are there! read more

First let me advise that the view at Kong is absolutely beautiful! My husband and I celebrated our anniversary at the Kong and we were pleased! The food was very good as well. The portion sizes are not filling though. But this is to be expected as I was told. I had the miso salmon and my husband had the blackened cod. Our waiter was pleasant and friendly which was surprising as we didn't come across many friendly people in Paris. For dessert we tried the salted caramel cheesecake I would highly recommend this restaurant. Dress attire is anywhere from casual to semi formal. We had no complaints read more
