We ordered two non alcoholic drinks, French onion soup, a Cobb salad with steak no ham, no bacon, blue cheese dressing and green goddess dressing and poutine fries. The soup was decent. A little sweet for French onion. My salad came out with both ham and bacon on it, and I was missing my green dressing. The steak was tough and I wasn't given a steak knife so I was sawing away at it with a butter knife. I picked the ham and bacon off the salad and put it on a side plate. I couldn't get all of the bacon out. The server finally came to check in, I asked for the green dressing and let him know the drinks hadn't come yet. My husband's drink came out. Mine did not. Towards the end of the meal I asked for the drink. It was just soda and peach. When he brought it he let me know it was spiced peach. I wish I knew that when I ordered it. It tasted like booze and I couldn't drink it. When we were finished and our plates were clear the server then apologized for the ham and bacon. Every dish was unique, full of flavor, beautiful, and worth every dollar. To start, they bring out homemade bread made fresh every morning with salted butter. I ordered the special- five jumbo shrimp with smoked garlic aioli. (They have cocktail sauce if you want it, but the garlic is phenomenal.) Before the main came out, the chef brought over the gazpacho using vegetables from his garden. The soup was thicker than I'm used to, but it paired perfectly with the vegetables. It was delicious! The scallops for the main were perfectly cooked and worked with the sauce in the middle of the plate and the green sauce on top of each scallop. Another winner! The lemon custard was refreshing for dessert. It's presented so well where you uncover more layers with each bite. 2) Drinks: They have a full cocktail menu with drinks named after famous people, wine, beer, and mocktails. Enjoying more sweet drinks, I ordered the "Marilyn Monroe." It was a fun drink, but a little too sweet for me. If you like berry and sweet drinks, you'll love it! 3) Service: It's excellent from start to finish. My server Tate was friendly, passionate about the menu, and efficient. Great service like that still matters. Bird went with the crab cake and was already planning her next visit halfway through dinner. I started with the shrimp cocktail, followed by the Caesar salad and filet, all outstanding. Everything was paced perfectly and cooked exactly right. And then came dessert...which somehow topped everything else. Incredible way to finish the night. I actually prefer somewhere between medium and medium-rare, but this was too rare to cut easily with their knives, and you wound up tearing it back and forth. My steak also had a huge strip of gristle on the side. This is normal for a NYS, but this piece was excessive. The garlic mashed potatoes were also very gummy for some reason. Tasted fine, just very sticky and gummy consistency. Soup was good, and the fresh-baked rolls with dinner were also very good. Best part of the meal, honestly. My fellow diner got the Surf and Turf with the broiled crab cake option ($59), a baked potato, and steamed green beans. Now, maybe this crab cake differs from their usual "Maryland" crab cake, but it was very dry in comparison, and considerably smaller than in the past. It was fine, but they used to be spectacular. Potato was fine, but the green beans were barely, and i mean BARELY cooked. I get that steamed fresh green beans are lightly cooked, and expect it, but these were, frankly, all but raw. Worse, a third of them still had the stems on them. I seldom go here -- it's kind of a treat for me -- but when I do, I go with high expectations. I expect my bill is going to be high, but I expect a corresponding high standard for the food. For the first time, they have failed to deliver on the latter.
