Having a Kolache Factory in Tustin made it a no-brainer when I needed a quick satisfying breakfast before starting my day in Houston. My husband and I were going to a brunch wedding but we knew that the reception wouldn't start until noon. I needed caffeine and some sort of food prior to that or I'd be hangry for the entire morning. Kolache Factory was near our hotel so I walked there in the morning while he got ready. I ordered 6 kolaches in different flavors plus a caramel macchiato. I noticed that the Yelp check-in offer was for a free one and since I was only in town for a few days, I asked if I could redeem that as well. The cashier was happy to add to my order. Of the different ones I ordered, I really liked the BBQ Brisket and Philly cheesesteak ones. The breakfast ones like bacon, egg & cheese; sausage & gravy; and sausage & egg are solid choices as well. My husband said the pizza one was like a Hot Pocket on steroids. All were tasty and easily warmed in the microwave at the hotel. Average pastries with great service. If you're unfamiliar what a kolache is, and you don't get a chance to get one at the Czech stop in West, Texas (which is actually on the eastern side of the state), they are these awesome pastries filled with jam or meat and cheese or veggies that for some reason are only sold in Texas and west Louisiana. Kolache factory's are good in the sense that any chain is good - but they aren't as soft, flaky and fresh tasting as a mom and pop kolache spot or a local baker might make. As someone who only visits Houston occasionally, these kolaches are the treat I look forward to the most and they never disappoint. Sweet, tender soft and spicy. My fave is sausage, cheese and jalapeño. The sweet fruit ones that are like danishes are perfect too. I wish I could enjoy these more often. I had to create a separate order because she thought she knew what she was doing but apparently... she def does not. Never coming here again When she warmed it up, she didnt account for the amount she was heating up and it was still cold in the center. Consistently good service, and the line was never that long. The ladies here were always friendly and nice. I always got coupons in the mail, so I'd get a buy 3 get 3 free deal. Definitely made the price worth it :). I LOVE the Ranchero Kolache. It's really one of the only reasons to come here. All other kolaches pale in comparison. Hmm I have mixed reviews on this one, but I have to say the service was not really good. I think the lady probably thought we were cheap because we had coupons to come here. I own a professional tree service near Briarforest and Beltway 8 which is much closer to other Kolache Factory locations. My wife and I will drive past all of the other locations to come to this one. The service at this location is better by far. The ladies that work here are always nice and friendly. The coffee is so much better that we quit buying Starbucks coffee and actually come here from the Beltway 8. Great customer service means a lot to a business. Great job! read more

I was in the area and it was after 1:30, so I thought to go get some half off kolaches. The store was empty and had about 50 left. Well I ordered 4 and was charged at regular price. I said I thought they were half off after 1:30. She goes, oh you have to order a dozen. I told her I had never heard of that rule but if that's the case she could keep them. Who wants a dozen of kolaches at 1:30pm if they were cooked at like 8 am. I'm good!!! It felt like she was just making it up because she was getting tongue tied trying to explain it to me. Was just there not even 10 minutes ago. I walk in and no one is at the register but three coworkers see me walk and keep talking. So I stand by the register for a moment waiting and no one is helping me. So finally I say "can I order?" And the male coworker hears my question and turns his back and continues the conversation. So I have to stand there for another minute waiting not knowing what's going on. One of the females finishes folding some more boxes then finally comes to help me. No apology or anything for keeping me waiting. But even before I can order with her another coworker comes up and starts chatting with her and I had to wait until they were done with their convo to order. I stopped in on my way to work to get the Italian Chicken croissant (which I have had several times, not from this location) & it was horrible. When I called to ask if they used the same recipe as the other locations, there was a language barrier & she had no idea what I was talking about. Daniela was extremely rude from the moment she came out from the back to take my order. I ordered 3 bacon, egg and cheese and when I asked why so expensive here? She snapped that they are different prices at each location. I then asked for just bacon and cheese. And if I could be rang up for a Monster energy as well. She told me to go to the back cooler. I pointed to the front one she says in a testy tone it doesn't work. I explained to her I wouldn't be drinking it right away and she rolls her eyes and just stares at me then says whatever. I then said ok never mind I don't want anything she says ok bye. I said who's the manager? I think I've had an issue with you once before she tells me 'I've never seen you before so it wasn't me'.
