Don't order the veggie bowl--unless you want a bowl full of noodles with 3 shavings of carrots and a couple onions.

Went there on recommendation from Yelp, food was not great, sushi was horrible. I would not eat there again. The image on Yelp is not of the right place. I have uploaded a proper picture of the Kokoro @ 2390 S Colorado Blvd. The restaurant reminds me of a Japanese iHop. read more

Good japanese food for a reasonable tab. Very interesting and modern dining space. Had the kokoro bowl w beef and chicken- was fairly satisfied. Overall id recommend this place for anyone interested in getting a quick bite in a semi-casual dining space. Not really like a "date night" sushi spot though. read more

Really - I had the Korkoro Bowl - meat tastless as was the chicken, that is if you could find any! and the thick out of a jar chemical tasting sauce on top UGH! My friend had the veg bowl also with some thick brown stuff...How about making your own sauce...The man next to me found a hair in his bowl.. This place needs a make-over and not just the food... read more

Very good bowl of Tempura noodles! Service as a little slow once they put down the bowls but the food was very good.

I've loved both locations forever! This was my first place. Fast, friendly, affordable, and the best food! The only place I can eat on a daily basis! Kokoro bowl, sushi, sake! All legit! Plus a comfortable clean atmosphere to study or hang on cold days. Highly recommend read more

This is without a doubt my fave place in Denver. EVERYTHING on the menu is amazing, and happy hour (after 5pm, all day Sunday) is bomb. The service is always fast and friendly, the rice tastes just like my grandma makes, and it's affordable af. Seriously one of Denver's gems. Recommendations: Kokoro Bowl (chicken AND beef AND veggies), Unagi Bowl, Veggie Tempura, Miso Ramen, everything pretty much. read more

I was pleasantly surprised by this place. The interior was awesome because it reminded me of an old diner but with really funky shaped bar-height table designs. The middle of the restaurant has s-shaped bar-type tables while the outer perimeter of the restaurant has regular booth-style tables that are for parties of 3+. What's unique about this place is that they also have a drive-thru. I was able to try the chicken curry rice bowl, miso ramen with pork, corn and egg and edamame. I thought all of the dishes were pretty great and a fair price (less than $9 for my miso ramen). The ramen was comparable to other ramen spots in Denver and the broth wasn't too salty. They check with you if brown and white meat is ok for your curry bowl before you order it (interesting). They have happy hour all day Sunday that features discounts on some appetizers and drinks. They have something called birch beer here that is similar to root beer. They sell rice bowls, sushi, poke bowls and ramen. The sushi options are mostly simple/basic rolls like California roll or tuna/salmon rolls. This place felt like a hole-in-the-wally Japanese comfort-food joint and I would definitely come back. Service was also great. read more

I've been going to Kokoro for close to 6 years every so often. I've never had less than great service from the staff. The food is great, especially for it's low price, and comes out incredibly quick. The servers check multiple times that your food is to your liking, and are always looking to find any way to improve your experience. With a large variety of customizable dishes that taste great, it's definitely hard to compete with these guys. If I had to recommend any dish, it would have to be the Tempura Splash. The fried vegetables are great, and you lots of great tasting food for a small price. read more

For all those California people who want something like yoshinoya, this place is the best. The staff is really friendly a their food is amazing. I had a very good experience and their food speaks for itself. I'm so glad I found this place. read more

Kokoro - Called ahead and picked up through the drive through. Food was fresh and steaming hot! More importantly...accurate! Thanks, Kokoro - Sushi Bars Near Me - Denver, Colorado

I love kokoro bowl! Get the kokoro bowl or the poke bowl. Very good and very good price. Family owned - been at that spot at least 25 years so you know they have it figured out. read more

Ordered through the drive through, received delicious flavorful food for a more than reasonable price. Quite happy with my experience, will be back again when I'm nearby to take a better look at the menu. read more

Dang. People are pretty ruthless with reviews haha. It's really not bad. Good portion, servers are super nice, very affordable. What more do you want. read more

Great beef curry bowl, love the gyoza, and the sushi is wonderful especially for the price. Usually awesome service but today no one was available and ignored a number of customers. read more

Started going here over 30 years ago when it was a Tokyo Bowl. Inexpensive, great, fresh food. Their addition of brown rice recently is great and I love the Eel or Unagi bowl. With a tall Sapporo on the side, you get a great meal all for under $10. My son loves the beef bowl, and the Red bird chicken bowl is also tasty, healthy and cheap. And I echo the added value of their Arigato (thank you in Japanes) card - gets you even bigger discounts. read more

A good friend of mine and I decided to stop by and try this restaurant . We walked in and wanted to set whenever we wanted to but that was not possible since their limited space /room so if you see a little sign on a table " 4+ " don't seat there lol . Our waitress was a little girl and she was amaZing, she was the best server ever . Unfortunately, our food too forever and the portions were way too small . If you eat a lot like myself make sure to order twice. Lol Prices are okay and affordable . Thanks ! read more

If you're looking for pretty good quality sushi for a great price look no further. Kokoro has a great happy hour every day and all day on Saturdays with super cheap sushi, wine, and beer. I haven't enjoyed anything else I have gotten on the menu (bowls or appetizers) but really love stopping by for a quick philly roll when I need a small snack or sushi fix. Service has always been mediocre. The servers often act as though they are packed even when they are not...I couldn't help but wonder if this was an issue with have a shortened kitchen staff? read more

Wanted to eat at Kiki's (my favorite Japanese restaurant) today but the parking lot was full to overflowing as usual. Rather than park a block away because I was in a hurry, I decided to re-visit a place that I used to go to frequently before Kiki's opened; Kokoro. I ordered Gyudon (Beef Bowl) with white rice. It came quickly. There was not much beef and nearly none of that Mirin/Soy infused broth that makes Gyudon so sweet & savory. The rice was dry, undercooked and of poor quality. Why anyone would choose to eat at Kokoro when a superb & reliable restaurant (Kiki's) with a similar menu is a block away is more than I can understand. read more

Even for a fast food, the food was not adequate quality and taste wise. Portions were sized unexpected too - normally, quick and cheap Asian restaurants still put a decent amount of protein on top of your carbs. What we experienced - meat slices barely covering a decently sized bowl of rice. Sushi roles - we didn't even dare trying the ones with raw fish - they looked very suspiciously. Unagi were safe to eat, but tasted not up to par with grocery store bough ones. All and all, any Pho would give you better options for similar money. read more

This place is fast, cheap and delicious:l. The salmon bowl and chicken curry bowl are among my two favorite things and I know that I can never go wrong with either of them. read more

I like their Kokora bowl but one is hard pressed to find any actual meat in it. That bowl is 85% rice (costs them $.05 or less) a few fresh vegetables (estimated cost $.25) and not enough meat to feed a hamster (estimated cost $.50). For $8.00 freaking dollars you would think that you would get more than 3 small bites of meat. This place could be great but their greed (WHERE'S THE MEAT) has made it a no go for this girl read more

I like the interesting winding bar-stooled seating, japanese artwork adorned on the walls and interesting dishware. The Japanese food selection doesn't have that much variety, but has the essential basics. They even have cream soda drinks. Parking is limited but they have a drive-thru window for a-la-carte. My family used to know the former owners of this restaurant establishment. Very nice people. read more

I have eaten at Kokaro for several years. Never a bad experience. The staff is always quick to come to you asking if you'd like a menu or if you know what you want. I've tried most everything on the menu and haven't been disappointed. Usually go there at lunchtime and it can get crowded but always am able to get a seat. read more

Great place for a fast, healthy, inexpensive, delicious meal. They serve both white and brown rice as well as Red Bird white-meat chicken. My favorite is the Salmon Bowl. I only wish they had more Sushi. read more

We eat here a couple times per month. It's got a good feeling in a sort of diner meets Asian meets heathy fast-food type of way. The staff is friendly but occasionally bogged down. The food comes out pretty quick. The bowls are a lot of rice and little meet/ veggies but for the price justified. Probably ask for some sauce because those can be a bit dry. I typically stick to some soups and various appetizers. The ap menus is fun as getting several of these smaller dishes to go with a main or two to share works out well. The chicken katsu, seaweed salad, and dumplings are hits. Lenny is the nicest. Overall the staff service are great. Their goal and name align with what they they do. read more

I've been curious about this place, it's hidden away off Colorado Blvd and it has a drive thru, so one day I finally went. Bleh. I got the chicken and rice bowl and some sushi, it was not that good. I don't know what else to say other than it just wasn't that good. Nothing in particular really, I just didn't like it. Tokyo Joe's is much better if you are looking for quick bowls and sushi. read more

The food here is just about the worst crap I have ever been served. I drive by this place and marvel at how they have managed to stay in business. First, you are not allowed to sit at a booth unless you have 3 people. It does not matter if the place is empty, they will MAKE you and your date MOVE to another table. And, they have an entire booth set up for the waitresses to roll silverware and they put a sign up saying it's "reserved for waitstaff" or something to that effect. Outrageous, IMO. I'm a customer, about to overpay for a bowl of MSG water and frozen backfin tuna, and you want me to move over there so my waitress can roll silverware? what is this world coming to? Sorry if I am harping, but jeesh, I already said this was just about the worst crap I've ever been served. read more

I live very close to Kokoro and have wanting to try it for quite a while. Last night, the S.O and I were craving cheap Japanese, so we stopped in. Our first impression was fairly good. While the decor is a bit shabby and plain, I like the sushi bar in the center of the room. It gives it a very community-like feel.I also found that the waiters were very friendly. We ordered a beef & brocolli bowl over Udon for the S.O + a california roll, an Unagi roll, and miso soup for me. We split Edamame. The Unagi roll was chewy and fishy. Probably the worst sushi I've ever had. I had one roll and left the other three, even though I was starving. Honestly, I feel a little ill just thinking about it. Grade? F The California Roll was fine. It wasn't gross, but I wouldn't say it was "good". I finished it, but I didn't feel satisfied. Grade? C. The Miso Soup was fine. Then again, it's pretty hard to screw up Miso. Grade? B. The Edamame was fine, also. I've tasted loads better. Several of the bottom pieces were burned (??). Grade? B. The S.O rated his dish a C. Not terrible, but nothing to write home about. Needless to say, we won't be returning. There are many other cheap and healthy options in this area to waste money on gross food! read more

This was a pleasant surprise, far from pricey and not trying to make you feel like it's trying to impress you with it's seating, just quick service and really good food. It had me as soon as I ordered hot tea, which was only 79 cents and came out in a pot? Did I read my bill right? read more

Kokoro is a good and fast Japanese lunch option. I like the salmon bowel (although too much rice in my opinion) with some Miso soup. They have a drive through which is cool I guess. It definitely has a fast food Japanese feel. If you want real Japanese then drive another block south to Kiki's. read more

Decent place for a rice bowl that isn't tough on your wallet. Plus, happy hour all day Saturday and Sunday! $2 large sake!!

Good food, fast and very friendly service, and a happy hour that will make you miss pre-boom Denver. $3 large sake and $3.5 bottled beer. Apps and basic sushi rolls are also $2-3. The food is always delicious and fast. I like the chicken splash or miso ramen. The BF always gets a beef bowl. read more

Affordable and tasty. Great for quick lunch! I ordered regular size beef bowl and miso soup and it was good.

This is another place that I have been going to for years. They add to the menu from time to time but they are always consistent. I love their curry bowl and their Japanese pickles. They are always fast and you can't beat the price. This is definitely a nice healthy alternative from fast food joints.. I have also tried their location at 6th and Broadway it is good as well. read more
