I would have been happy if this place was half decent. The order was quick. The kid that took my order was more concerned with his running dialog with the cook. I ordered the shrimp tempura roll and veggie and shrimp tempura appetizer. The roll was uneatable. The rice was weird, and the thing in the middle didn't look like shrimp. Threw it away. Sushi is way overpriced for what you get. The tuna is loaded with veins. The rolls are small and virtually tasteless. The spicy tuna roll was no different than the regular tuna roll. A waste of $14. We went for late lunch on a whim. We were in the area so why not? I ordered the pork ramen noodles and birch soda. My husband ordered the beef bowl and a beer they had on display. This place used to be great. We got take out from here last night and everything was incredibly fishy and bland. Not at all fresh and barely edible. What happened??? We went here for Father's Day. The waitresses were unexpected, but welcome. The one that helped us was knowledgeable and was able to pick out a dish for our picky eater. Overall, it was ok. I didn't think anything was exceptional. The lack of a kids menu or an option for something for the baby was a big downer for us. Usually I'm okay with this place, it's not the best Japanese food, but for a quick meal, it's just fine. If you have higher aspirations of this place, you're hitting the wrong mark. It's not Domo or anything close to that, it's a simple, cheap, easy meal on the way home. I would rave that it also has a drive-thru, which I enjoy on nights when I'd rather not sit and eat inside, and generally I have few issues (however, this is only having used the drive thru twice before). Tonight? 7pm on a Tuesday, it took 20 minutes sitting in line of three cars before my patience was up and I drove somewhere else. Thing is, I expect a 20 min wait inside, but not at a drive thru. I think the process irritated me most, it was obvious the wait was coming from the food production, which would have been quicker if you take the order of the car that drives up first, then by the time they get to the window, it should be well on it's way to finished. But that'st not the case. Seriously inefficient, and when the inside is not that busy, there is no excuse. read more

Went here for lunch last week with my son and really enjoyed our meal. The curry beef bowl was great with a good sized serving. I had the brown rice which was good as well. The absolute bright spot of our meal was our waitress, Su. She was awesome! Kept my ice tea filled up and had a ready smile and great attitude. We'll definetly be back. Food is pretty consistently good, on the other hand, the service can be terrible at times. If you go the sushi route stick to the tuna or the spider roll, the salmon is cooked, not raw. Ramen is good, poke is decent, katsu is fantastic. read more

Love miso ramen. Can't find many places that make half way decent/authentic ramen. It's one of the closest things I've tasted to the real thing I had when living in Japan. It's not fancy but then again what ramen shop is fancy even in Japan. Great place for good Japanese grub. read more

Sushi is overpriced considering what you get. Compare two of the rolls from any other Japanese restaurant (two is equal to one standard eight piece roll) for yourself. Tempura was decent but a bit sponge-like. The salmon roll was disgusting and flavorless. The salmon in the salmon roll was even cooked! One positive note is that the bowls are generally much better than the sushi here. Sobaghetti and the tempura splash are good, unfortunately I didn't get either on my last visit. read more

Don't waste your time, the food taste like it was thrown in the microwave and had absolutely no flavor! The waitresses were friendly but the veggies were raw and barely Luke warm with boiled unseasoned flavorless chicken and a tablespoon of sauce dripped on top. Honestly the white rice was the best thing in my meal which isn't saying much. Yes I realise its not high end but one of the blandedest unsatisfying things ive ate in a long time. I love this expedited Japanese restaurant. I love that I can get sushi on a Friday or Saturday night and not have to have reservations. It doesn't feel like a typical sushi restaurant as they have big windows letting in lots of natural light. There is a counter that you can sit and a few booths. Food is served quickly and you can get almost everything at a sushi restaurant, except the ambiance and the price. The staff is always terrific and friendly. They serve an off-brand cola, but I always have the ice tea. Amazingly, they have a drive thru restaurant. There is an ice cream shop in the same parking lot so you can have an awesome treat after. All in all, always a great experience. read more

Beyond disappointed with my experience at Kokoro. I contracted FOOD POISING from this establishment (most likely the sushi) and when I called a day later to make their manager aware he told me I didn't have food poisoning from them. This was the only place I ate that day and I started feeling really sick after about 3 hours. The food is poor quality, but I accepted this with the low prices. I will not accept a manager that doesn't listen to his customers or make sure the quality of his food is safe to consume. I would discourage anyone from eating here. read more

I love the Beef Bowls here and have eaten here many times. I went in last Thursday at 11:00am and ordered my usual large beef bowl to go. This is the first time it did not taste very good. The girl who waited on me had a real attitude problem. When I asked her where the red Chile pepper was and the ginger she said we do not put it out anymore you have to ask. She should have asked me if I needed any. The Kokoro on South Colorado Blvd is much better than here. read more

If you want Japanese food fast Kokoro is the place for you! The first time I went to Kokoro I got the Shrimp Tempura bowl, it was so good that since then every time I got I end up getting either the Shrimp Tempura Bowl or just the Tempura Vegetable Bundles that come on it. A bundle of shredded vegetables, dipped in tempura, and deep fried doesn't sound that amazing but it really is. I am at a loss for words to describe how much I truly love Kokoro, not only is the food and staff incredible but Kokoro is locally owned. read more

I absolutely love this place! I come here very often because you get great service, prices are great and the food is really good! If you like sushi (not super fancy) then this is where you need to eat! I can order 3 rolls and appetizer, my ice tea and with tip and get out of there for under 20.00! Fast, healthy Japanese food. That is Korkoro's claim to fame and it most definitely applies. The food is light and not too filling. My faves are the beef bowl and the Splash Udon. They also let you customize the menu depending on what you would like - more egg in your udon or less sauce on your teriyaki chicken. The restaurant itself is clean and has a lot of seating and the window front lets in quite a bit of sunlight. One of my favorite spots for lunch in Arvada. read more

Unfortunately, I can't recommend this place anymore. I can't understand what's happened but they've gone downhill. I hadn't been here in a while and the last time I ate here I did have awful service. I assumed it was because it was during the day and they have to be training a new person. Fast forward to this afternoon, I had a friend and we ordered our usual ( white chicken and vegetable bowls one spicy-aki and one curry bowl). We like to share a veggie tempura bundle and possibly gyoza or edamame. We were told they only do the shrimp tempura bundles so squash that. We ordered gyoza which was good and fresh. My friend got spicy aki and couldn't even finish her bowl. The sauce was nothing like a teriyaki sauce what so ever. The sauce tasted like pure pepper paste! Waited forever to get someone to figure things out. Took even longer to get a refill on drinks and my friend still couldn't finish her bowl. Ended up frustrated and just finished up what we could and left. I understand they might not be aware there were any problems with things, but they also didn't make the effort to check on people. This seems to be a common thing, they hire new people ( consistently it seems) and they really never catch on or they never really had a background in hospitality. Kinda sucks because this place used to be a good choice, now I feel it's only a second choice "tokoyo joes-type". Far better choices available for quality japanese. read more

Our family LOVES Kokoro! Fast, healthy and delicious. On weeknights when we are all too tired and busy to cook, Kokoro is our go to place for dinner. The prices are reasonable, the food is consistently delicious and it is quick and we all feel great after eating it. After driving up and down Wadsworth past this place 4 or 5 times a week for about 3 years now, we finally stopped in for dinner last week. I wasn't sure quite what to expect - and even less sure when I walked in and saw the layout. We snagged a couple of seats at the counter and got to perusing the menu. I decided on a couple of sushi rolls and the pickled vegetable salad. He went with a noodle bowl, a sushi roll and some tofu to start. Overall everything was really good. The tofu was my least favorite - but that's my own fault for expecting it to be served hot rather than cold. My sushi rolls were tasty and my salad was somewhere between tasty and interesting. I'm not sure I'd order that again, but I'm glad I tried it. His noodle bowl was awesome. The service was friendly and efficient, and you really can't beat the prices - I was blown away when we got our check and it was $22 for both of us. We'll definitely be back for another visit soon! read more

I have been going to Kokoro for over 20 years. The place has really gone downhill and on my last 3 visits they got the order incorrect. When I asked for a refund, I had to go through a manager who sent to another manager Maseru Torito, who would not give me a credit and told me he was okay with my not being a customer anymore! Just like the other recent one star fans, we have been going to Kokoro since it opened about 15 years ago. It used to be one of our favorite restaurants. Our kids were small back then with heads that barely cleared the serving counter. Su and Angie were the servers who did everything possible to make our meals a great experience. Our son is now in college and wanted to go for a meal while he was in town. Our server was new, and very attentive and polite. The food has degraded in quality appreciably. My nest of tempura vegetables was heavily battered and doughy on the inside and overcooked to a crisp on the outside. The spider crab sushi disintegrated with the squeeze of the chopsticks and was mediocre at best. The gyoza soaked in a pool of cooking oil. Then the coup de gras. A friend had given me a gift card for Kokoro. I presented it, and they would not accept it as they have a gift card policy that puts a two year limit on the card. My son took out his smart phone and found out information about gift card expiration laws. Even after we showed them the federal consumer protection law stating that gift cards can not have an expiration date less than 5 years they would not budge. Well, they lost a customer out of the deal. Yet, as bad as the food has gotten I think it was a real blessing in disguise. read more
